Tonight at 9: Piers Morgan, a collection of legal minds, and a live audience break down the George Zimmerman trial

With the fate of George Zimmerman now in the hands of six Florida women, this evening "Piers Morgan Live" invites a collection of analysts and experts, as well as a live audience, to discuss the individual elements and specific pieces of information which will factor into the final decision.

On Friday morning attorney Mark O'Mara offered roughly three hours worth of closing arguments on behalf of his client, and with the jury expected to deliberate deep into the evening, tonight Piers Morgan will invite such accomplished legal minds as Judge Alex Ferrer, Judge Glenda Hatchett, defense attorney Jayne Weintraub, and CNN's Jeffrey Toobin to share their reaction to Friday's day in court, while also offering predictions for the case's outcome.

Meanwhile, HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill, HLN contributor and talk radio host Mel Robbins, Charles Blow of "The New York Times," and the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family, Ben Crump, will add their particular brands of context and insight, touching on all things legal, societal, political, and racial.

And, throughout the live edition of Friday's program, the host will take questions from his studio audience, covering all facets of a case that continues to fascinate and polarize America.

Tune in to "Piers Morgan Live" tonight at 9, for a live hour featuring representatives from every stitch of the national fabric.

O'Mara just showed that Trayvon had a reason to be concerned because George Zimmerman was driving a regular vehicle and was following him! If he had those lights and Neighborhood Watch sign on his vehicle then Trayvon Martin wouldn't had been afraid! if some ashole is following me at night in a truck, in the dark, in the rain, I'm not going to lead him straight to my door step. That could put the rest of my family in danger!

I hate Pierce Morgan... He has no clue of what is or means to be an American and has not insight to this case.

Perhaps I missed it, but why wasn't it mentioned that or emphasis put on the fact that Zimmerman was told NOT to pursue Trayvon Martin? By doing so ,Trayvon didn't have a choice but to defend himself and stand his ground!. It's a terrible law if you're allowed to use that law, especially if you were instructed NOT to pursue. He followed with the intent to do harm because he knew he had that stand your ground-law on his side. Borderline premeditated murder!

Come on people, George zimmerman was doing what he was supposed to be doing, Watching out for the neighborhood. And now he is a racist??? It's a tragedy for sure but the prosecution hasn't proved that he was trying to kill this guy. Just kind of tired hearing that he is a racist or that he planned on killing him as soon as he got out of the car. Yeah he profiled him but as a burglar or someone doing something that they were not supposed to be doing.

If TM feared this man (GZ) that night while he was being followed then why did he not call 911 for police help he had a cell phone and instead he choose to talk to a friend? That doesn't make sense to me because if I were being followed and was scared I'd call 911 for police help instead of talking to a friend.

What O'Mara said today most of us knew from the beginning. This situation was rasially charged from day one.
Pierce keeps on taking sides! What if Travon was one that kitlled GZ? Would you continue calling him a BOY and a child??

This is a court of law. In American courts, you are a boy until you reach age of majority, or 18. So they are not wrong to call him a boy. Visit your local high school and you will notice 17 year old boys that look older, younger, or about their age.

Piers can take any side he wants. If you watch his show, he regularly invites guests from both sides of the table to debate issues on live TV.

The country needs to discuss how such a tragedy could happen, and what can be done to prevent the next one. Stand Your Ground law is asinine.

Irrelevant to the trial. Further George Zimmerman didn't know Trayvon before the incident, so he had no reason to believe Trayvon was anything but what he appeared: a kid walking home to his house.

Americans do not have brains now a days. They eat food like KFC or McDonald and they damaged the brain, why everything is going downward.
What fool that Zimmerman told a made off situation that he killed that blank boy confronting him. After killing, he thought that he made a mistake and he then hit his nose and head on concrete to proof that Trayvon Martin try to kill him. There is no blood in his hand and I know they had no fist fight and even they had no physical confrontation. Don't bring Marc Garagos(killers lawyers and liars) as well as those KKK white defence lawyers

Perhaps in this case, no one knows for sure.

Moving forward, Florida should carefully consider Stand Your Ground law when someone can end up dead and the other person walks free because no one knows what happened. Trayvon Martin isn't here to tell his side of the story. In reality anyone charged with murder could claim Stand Your Ground and walk on the absence of any concrete timeline of events.

As I am currently watching tonight's episode and the panel all think that George Zimmerman had the gun out of his holster while he was on the ground, my question is...who assaults a man who already has a gun drawn on them? Stick to the law as written and not emotions or sympathy for the Martin Family. Also this is NOT about race people...

I wonder why zimmerman didn't Say to Trayvon..."I'm Neighbourhood Watch..Do you need help? or Do you live here? (he wouldn't be alive today would he?" to have travyon sitting ontop covering zimmermans mouth, nose, bashing his head etc...then reaching over to get my gun....yet ZIMMERMAN was HEavier than travyon...he trained 3hrs / day for MMA so SHOULD be able to get him OFF of him in a heartbeat!!!!!.....oh my goodness...sooooooooooooo MANY LIESSSSS.....and WHY didnt the police in his re inactment...make zimmerman SHOW him when trayvon was ontop...what happend from the first punch?? (to where trayvon ended up??? NO ONE ASKED ThAT in police dept??? what were they doing? just taking it all in?? believing every word*??? and I honestly think zimmerman KNEW exactly, how to plan this ultricaction out*.by all the Training he had".............then walk away like he did something good by taking a thug out of his neighbourhood..and to shallantly say to the witness who called his wife...GZ said " oh just tell her I shot someone"....as if he's saying..Oh and i bought milk at the store as well? IF HE HAD JUST BEEN PETRIFIED for his LIFE ..couldn't breathe, with hands over face...being smashed in concrete...YOU"D BE FREAKING OUT THAT you felt u almost died...and that you just shot a human being* a kid....IN SHOCK>>PANICKED>>>.yet say>>shallantly...Tell her i just shot someone??? And the rest of us are wondering why people like you ask inane questions. GZ did nothing illegal. TM did. TM attacked and didn't even wait for a conversation. He broke his face with the first punch. Illegal. Pounded his head into cement. Illegal.

Driving, walking, getting out of your car and even being a racist (if that's your thing) are ALL LEGAL. Why didn't TM call the police? GZ did. GZ did not attack. TM had 0 injuries other than the gunshot wound. Nothing.

TM was currently on suspension from school and sent to visit a father he rarely saw. He was supsended 3 times from school for POT, graffiti, and burglary tools. His phone was littered with texts about smoking pot and fighting. He lived with his uncle in Miami but somehow his parents saw fit to show up to court after the homeowners settled a wrongful death lawsuit with them for a million dollars. They are delinquent parents who contributed to this young man's death. He had no direction in life.

Actually it does. If you follow the cause and effect sequence of the events, it was quite clear that Zimmerman chose to escalate the incident and take the law into his own hands.

By your logic, a drunk driver who destroys a guardrail could could walk away without criminal charges because all he did was wreck his own car and public property. The fact that he was drunk obviously influenced his driving, but doesn't matter because it happened BEFORE the actual crash.

What happens in a series of events that lead up to a potentially criminal event DO MATTER.

It appears like this was a case of two idiots being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Zimmerman should have stayed in the car, and Martin should not have confronted Martin. One other point, Piers Morgan keeps suggesting that Travon Martin is just a teenage boy, as if because of that George Zimmerman couldn't be afraid of him. But wasn't Martin 6'3" and Zimmerman 5'9".

In American courts of law, Trayvon Martin is indeed a boy, since the age of majority in this country is 18. No one is lying when they call him a boy.

Some 17 year olds can pass as adults, others still need time to physically mature. Regardless, if the legal standard of adulthood is 18, Martin is STILL a child.

Depends on what can be legally established by the court. In this case, it was legal to call Trayvon Martin a child. In other cases, he might be called an adult.

Your criticism is irrelevant, because Trayvon is not the defendant.

      • Mister Peebles

Anyone of any age can smoke pot. The ability to inhale doesn't legally determine age.

18 = adult. Less than 18 = child. Got it? Simple.

Can you read? The same jury and court that eventually acquitted Zimmerman allowed the use of "child" because Trayvon Martin was UNDER 18.

18 or older = Adult. 17 or Younger = Child. Got it? It is the legal definition that matters, and that was established. Spare me your racist rants.

What did they do in LA after he got off? Burned public and private property. Piers, maybe you should look at your own homeland before criticizing our rights given to us by our founding fathers. • Mister Peebles

I thank you for your service, but the war ends when you come home. Your military service also doesn't privilege your opinion above any other citizen of this country. You get 1 vote just like I do when its time to vote.

As a matter of fact, I couldn't vote. Why? Because I moved to a state that changed its voting regulations to prevent certain segments of the population from voting. In order to vote, I needed to be in the state with a state photo ID more than a month before the federal election. Why were those laws implemented by Republicans? To disenfranchise people who would have voted for Obama.

The country you fought for is a disgrace, and while you cling to your guns and bigotry, injustice still runs rampant throughout our society It's to get our priorities straight, and I'm don't tolerate the close minded opinions of others who have no regard for improving the world they live in.

      • Mike

So, let me get this straight. You were denied the right to vote because of your race or because it was your responsibility to get registered on time. You could have voted in your old state. Pull that monkey off your shoulder and stop using race for conscience. I'm a Democrat so its not about a particular party.

        July 12, 2013 at 11:18 pm | Report abuse |
      • Mister Peebles

I'm sorry I couldn't organize my cross-country move around a particular state's voter suppression laws.

So in some states you have to register by a cutoff date for a Federal election? My birth certificate and driver's license doesn't prove my citizenship on voting day? That's outrageous and it disenfranchises people.

Look no further than Florida when the Zimmerman trial is being held. Many African Americans used vote early in the well established tradition of "Souls to the Polls". Florida changed its election schedule so that this tradition couldn't continue. I'll bet my bottom dollar that if new law threatened the voting habits of evangelicals there would be hell to pay. Just another example of the idiocy that is the conservative movement in this country, alienating minorities, gerrymandering voting districts, and pushing an antiquated view of the country that is some 50 years out of date.

Wow, how ignorantly programed are some? People, some of you are missing the point. Treyvon was minding his own business, he didn't call 911 because, he wasn't sure why the MAN was following him & let us not forget where they lived! Florida is a southern backward thinking, former confederate state where they just tried to surpress the minority vote. Do you think anyone of color thinks to call the police as a safety net? May I point out why in 2013 we would have to debate this case & why people with criminal pasts are allowed to carry a conceled weapon? Unless you are a man or boy of color you have no right to judge what Trayvon should've done. Don't pretend to know unless you've walked a mile in his shoes! Now get busy with something more meaningful then judging others who are no longer here to defend themselves. There is always 2 sides to every story. We only know 1 side from a man who is facing jail!

If GZ head was smashed to the ground the 25 times he claims it was...there would be alot more damaging injuries on his head...and if it was that intense, the 25x WHY would he NOT get xrays on his head and nose*?? if he felt he was in a life threatening situation of that nature that he claims...wouldn't he be fearful something majorly could be wrong with having his head smashed 25x against concrete. Try knocking your head back 25 times on your pillow...(showing you it takes 1) a long time for 25 smashes of your head (let alone on a sidewalk) 2)and claims hands were over his face, nose/mouth, while getting head smashed and then reaching for gun so GZ felt life threatened* had no choice but to shoot? as the defence says over and over... REALLY???....also WHY when GZ was so shallantly telling police on site for re-inactment...how he got from the "T" to where the teens body was *?? he said ' we just got from here to there*..scuffling* ?? ...GZ knew what he was doing...following and going to confront this person he's profiled already to be one of the teens /ppl doing crimes in his area....with his loaded gun*....(but because he claims he was looking for the address or street name...he continued to walk through dark sidewalk to end to see the name..yet still couldn't give the name, but there's only 3 streets, and he's the neighbourhood watch???)....it Apauls me that GZ used in one of his re-inactments that "trayvon said to him YOUR GOING TO DIE TNIGHT M.F>*".......I'm sure GZ was the One that said those last words to Trayvon Martin!" May he R.I.P.*

People must look at this from both sides and stop using race and age. It could have gone the other way also. Treyvon could have beaten Zimmerman to death and he would have been justified because Zimmerman came after him. If he thought his life was in danger or he thought he could have been harmed. Don't blame age and race blame the Florida law.

..just one more thing i'd like to mention..When GZ was asked...do you want police to meet you at the mailboxes..front....GZ first said Yes...then said ... " Have the police CALL "ME" when they get here and I'll tell them where I am" ........ ??? If he was going back to his Truck......WHY would he say "have the police call ME and i'll tel them where im at??* also , why wouldn't he just continue the conversation with the dispatcher as he had been doing...as he walked the few more feet to his truck! gotten back IN his truck then hung up with dispatcher till the police arrived? he got off the phone...(because he SAW Trayvon and knew this was his time where he would confront Trayvon, have the ultrication, ... before police to arrive) knowing his end result would be Self Defense*~.......enough said*. Now it's time to wait for Justice being served by the 6 juriors* ~~

I understand what you're saying...most definately,..if someone was pounding your head (the way GZ said his was being smashed) you'd definately fear for your life...but HOW did GZ get his gun out (i feel he already had it out)...again, no one will Know for sure as we only have HIS word on what happend....but who's to say GZ didn't punch his own face? Trayvon had a minor scratch on his 4th finger...(and yes, i know, IF the medical examiner opened his fingers to see if Bruising...I honestly DONT feel there would be ANY on Trayvon*.... I don't think i'm using "emotion" here....I feel I AM looking at the Evidence~. But again...we'll just have to wait and see what the Juriors find in the evidence in front of them....and GZ statements* (as inconsistant they are) and to ME...it's Clear as a bell...GZ should be found Guilty* (not to murder..but to manslaughter). ~

This is a race related crime , and all of you that think different are fools. It just amaze me that whites in this country can harm blacks and it is never seen as race related, but just let a black do something to a white person then all the rules change. Let whites n tell it nothing is ever about race but with them everything in some way is about race. If it not about race then why is Trayvon Martin dead he did not do anything wrong.

I had it with you Piers Morgan, I'll never ever watch any of your shows again, I predict that CNN will let you go soon, I think you are a sell out and everything that comes out of your mouth depends on which way the wind is blowing and you know what, I'm a LIBERAL but I also have a sense of fairness and justice no matter where the chips fall.

Pierce needs to respect the American Justice System. You are disrespectful to challenge the outcome of the trial and making comments that fuels the fire to the racial devise to get ratings. From now on I will never watch Pierce Morgan on CNN.
