Rachel Jeantel on her reaction to the Zimmerman verdict: "Disappointed. Upset."

Less than 48 hours removed from seeing the jury in the George Zimmerman trial return a "not guilty" verdict, on Monday night "Piers Morgan Live" welcomed Rachel Jeantel for a fascinating – and completely candid – exclusive interview.

Sharing her first public comments since testifying, the young woman who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin shortly before his death offered her reaction to the jury's decision, using several single word sentences:

"Disappointed. Upset. Angry," revealed Jeantel, as a live studio audience hung on every syllable. "Mad."

When asked by the host for her response to the jury concluding that Zimmerman had acted in self-defense, Monday's guest was forthright, and succinct:

"B.S. Just B.S."

As the polarizing interview continued, the young woman who had unwillingly becoming the star of the trial as the prosecution's presumed key witness remembered her late friend:

"He was a calm, chill, loving person. Loved his family, definitely his mother. And a good friend."

Watch the rest of the clip as Jeantel describes the hours she and Martin spent on the phone talking about "what we were going to be in life, how life's going to happen," and for the next edition of "Piers Morgan Live," watch CNN every night at 9.

This witness was not given enough credit. B37 Juror basically states she was biased in the beginning. Everyone who was on Zimmerman's team and white was credible. Trayvon's parents according to Juror just wanted to believe their son didnt do anything wrong. She said Miss Jeantel was not credible but then said she told the truth. It's like asking x-kkk members to convict a white man of shooting a black person. Then Juror sounded weepy. 16 hours spent for a dead child's life and a not guilty of anything with her comments stating her bias and sympathy for George Zimmerman - I have 0 appreciation for this woman serving. I feel no sympathy for her. She honestly should have stayed silent. I don't find her credible about not making money off a book or using it for some twisted conservative gun group. She'll prob donate to Zimmerman.

I agree with you on your statement about aj uror even though i havent seen this story myself, a juror is supposed to go by facts not opinions.. however she wasnt the only jurors voice who was heard, and their hands were tied they had to follow the law. And the verdict reflected that. self defense theory with the laws in florida. The state didnt prove any one of their 4 theorys they threw out there which probably confused the jury. no one knows maybe one day some of the other 5 or some of the 3 extras will come forward.

sadly because there is no racism or any type of issues like that when the one doing or saying is a black person, only when the person doing or saying is any other race.

Since this young lady is claiming this all happened because of race, I thought this article was very interesting.

Sherman Ware. A black homeless man who was beaten by the son of a white policeman in Sanford, FL in 2010. Anyone want to guess who was the one 'white' person who went to churches passing out flyers calling attention to a coverup? Anyone want to guess who went to public meetings and demanded that this black man deserved better? Do you know who spent tireless hours putting fliers on the cars of persons parked in the churches of the black community? Do you know who waited for the church‐goers to get out of church so that he could hand them fliers in an attempt to organize the black community against this horrible miscarriage of justice? Do you know who helped organize the City Hall meeting on January 8th, 2011 at Sanford City Hall?

You guessed it. George Zimmerman. But the main stream media isn't talking about that are they.

To say that this woman is a "role model" for you, speaks volume for how low our society has gotten in terms of logical reasoning. This is the worse I have seen America has become with so many hypocrites being given a platform to express their biased purely emotion driven (hateful) thoughts so transparently.

Pot or marijuana actually makes you lethargic and very hungry. It's why those who do it habitually spend most of their time on the couch or in bed and not accomplishing much. ADHD and the medication that Zimmerman took for his could have led to his Grandiosity , feeling that he was more than he was, just a simple neighborhood watchman. He most probably confronted Trayvon, who punched him once to try to get away, this is why they ended up scuffling 40 feet from the initial contact. Zimmerman fell from that one punch and got the two tiny scratches on his head. He got up and ran after Trayvon, straddled and shot Trayvon in the heart. If Trayvon was on top, no way would there be a 90 degree entry wound and also there would be Trayvon's blood on Zimmerman's clothes. There was none of Trayvon's blood on Zimmerman's clothes. You, like that juror, cannot use your god-given common sense.

@Jami, I think the reason no one is finding fault with TMs lifestyle, is because they experience that exact same lifestyle everyday and dont have issues with it, its normal for them. I live in a neighborrhood where I hear the young men talk about doing stuff like his one did daily. He should have been arrested for the home invasion and stolen jewelry and the possession of weed bag and possible bowl. if he would have been arrested in jail, not in sanford. He got away with hitting a busdriver, again protected by some wacky school memo, i can explain that if you dont know what it is. i hope i didnt ramble all over the place.

Gun residue evidence showed that Trayvon's sweatrshirt was 2-4 inches away from his skin at the time he was shot, which shows that he was leaning forward at the time. If he was laying on his back as you suggest, his sweatshirt would have been lying against his chest. Did you even watch the trail and hear the actual evidence or are you just repeating what you've heard somewhere from someone?

@LC don't waste your time. Sandy like many others would rather forego the clearly established facts and define their win narrative for the case and he the jury should have voted. They are not interested in what he law says unless its favorable to their opinions.

I had to testify in a trial before and it is horrible what they put you through. Jeantel did better than most adults on that stand. They twist the truth and make you look like an idiot – that is their game. I learned the hard way that the truth rarely comes out in trials. It is all about what they can get the jury to believe and, even though you want the truth to come out when you get on the stand, they will ask questions to try to trick you and then twist it around until you look like a liar even if you are the most honest person in the world. We just got to see it amplified to the world and there is no excuse for the way they treated her.

they used her own recorded depositions against her, no trickery there. I call BS. shes a liar and she knows it and she knows what happened that night and didnt want to say it, and thats why they kept questioning her because each question she answered differently and aggressively and each time she revealed more and more..

      • OBXconsumer

Jenn M – Yes, I do agree with you when they use the actual evidence, but I am talking about the way they were impolite and insulting her. And, no, they do not actually present evidence in a straight forward fashion in any trial. It is mostly trickery and smoke screens. If they had questioned her properly, it would have come out in the trial and on tape, what she said on Piers Morgan show – that a "creepy a* c*" means: a person who is a cop or acts like a cop (instead of the obvious racial slur that I feel it actually is). Then she would have shown that her and Trayvon actually did have Zimmerman pegged as a "cop" and he knew he was not a pervert stalking him, which then insinuates that he felt he was caught and wanted to do something about it rather than go to jail. Also, the fact that Trayvon was previously arrested with a woman's jewelry in the past from a possible burglary and that his mother kicked him out and sent him to live with his father – all of this evidence should have been brought out in the trial. Jeantel knew all of this because she spoke to him EVERY DAY for years. I don't give a hoot about marijuana – except to bring out that it makes some people paranoid and it does not make all people lethargic. It actually can give you a sense of energy at the beginning which is why some cancer patients smoke it. Also, it should be made clear that the purpose of a trial, especially in murder cases, is to make sure that an INNOCENT man does not go to prison and/or be executed. The reason Zimmerman was charged is mainly because this 6 foot black person, as he said he was black, turned out to be 17 years old and Zimmerman knew that is the age group he was targeting so shooting him was overkill. I can tell you a lot of men I know would not have lost the fist fight to begin with and never would have had to shoot him, but until you are in that position, you don't know what you would do because you never know when a knife could be involved. You all better hope that this ruling stands because as it is, you can be jumped anywhere now just for asking a question and can't do anything about it – if you cannot defend yourself then you better just hide in your house and keep your gun at your side. PS – 6 women were picked on the jury because most man would have found Zimmerman innocent, especially a man who has had to defend himself. If you want to get a sense of the feeling of what happens in the community when a teenager gets killed doing something stupid, like stealing, watch Letal Weapon 3 – and see what happens when you don't just let a teen shoot you down with a machine gun.

I totally agree. I don't understand why Pierce, Anderson and other journalist are just skipping the drug use, the lighter he had on him, his record. I think it's disgusting that Rachel is now profting from this murder of her friend she chills with over inteirviews, and now a full ride to college as long as it's to a black university.Further, the cracka comment. If that's the case then TM knew he was a neighborhood watch guy rather than a creep, so why hasn't anyone disected that tidbit of information Rachel shared when updating the world on slang. Thank you for allowing us to hear Rachel Jenteal 's observations on the case because it gave me a better appreciation for her. She was the most credible witness in the case. Trayvon Martin probably was afraid for his life and felt he had to defend himself. He was being followed by someone he did not know, who was instructed by the police to stop and not get out of the car until the police came. Zimmerman is a weak man and will have to live with the fact that he killed an unarmed teenager because he got beat up for the rest of his life. Trayvon could have been anyone's son Asian, Black, Latino or white. A young white man was killed in a similar way in Southern California. The city, and police force were held accountable. What a difference between California and Florida.

Piers, I was with you thru all your coverage of the Newtown shootings (and your push for gun control). Thought it was great. I've had respect and even found myself defending you on occasion....but no more. Not after this latest interview with RJ, who suddenly - with new hair, make-up, wardrobe and bling - has transformed into the celebrity you've made her. I have nothing against RJ, but what you are doing is very destructive and irresponsible. You are fueling the flames of unrest, misstating the facts of the case to goad on your guests, and perpetuating the misinformation that continues to circulate among the most outraged following the Zimmerman verdict. If the Martin family and supporters want GZ to suffer for his actions, warranted or not - and as a parent, I don't blame them - they got their wish...just not in the way they might have expected. GZ may have been deemed innocent, but he is hardly free.

Agree with Leeza – Usually P. Morgan asked supportive questions and never brought out the obvious, but remember what station you are watching – maybe now everyone will start to realize that CNN and MSNBC and most news organizations only bring out their bias. People critize Hannity on Fox, but he asked the pointed questions to Zimmerman which were actually used in the trial against Mr. Z – but they trashed Hannity for that interview and acted like he was cradling a killer. Wake up people. Do your homework like Jenn M – you have to research, research, research.

B37 might be a nice intelligent person, but she could never be a high school teacher today. Her totally disrespectful reaction to Rachel Jeantel is just hard to believe. Does she think that not being educated in the way she was or even raised to speak the way she does means that Rachel is not intelligent? Does she seriously believe that she is better than Rachel Jeantel? Does she believe that anyone who isn't like her is worth less than she is and shouldn't be given any hearing or believed? Does she believe that because Rachel wanted to hide the embarrassment over not being able to face seeing Trayvon's dead body after hearing his voice seconds before he was murdered makes her guilty of perjury? I believe that the public should be scrutinizing B37 for being an opportunist who had her head in the sand because she was one of 5 people in Sanford who didn't know every detail of the case. She seems to have taken the case to make money. Maybe her husband and she decided the case before she was even sequestered. I just think there is so much reason to question her credibility. Rachel reminds me so much of so many students I've had who were raised well, always treat me with kindness, sensitivity and respect. That's my impression of her. She loved her friend and the pain weighed heavy on her making it very hard for her to want to face public disrespect and answering questions from hostile arrogant defense attorneys she'd already been hounded by before she gave testimony in court. I'm guessing she knew that the white world would have a hard time appreciating her good points. She's a smart young woman who is clearly sensitive to how she treats others and how they treat her. She is a courageous young woman!

No she isn't, Jeantel is just another unthinking 'Hood inhabitant that chooses to perpetuate the nonsense and illogical ignorant value system that is too prevalent in the 'Hood. Like trying to drag down everyone with whom they identify, neighbors, friends and relatives as acting too white if they value education, hard work, cleanliness, a respectable appearance, good manners, respectfulness, fiscal responsibility, have nice homes and material possessions like cars, etc. who try to live crime free, law abiding lives, where stealing, cheating others and lying are eschewed. Jeantel will most likely be another drug/alcohol abusing, unmarried welfare mom with multiple children from different fathers (let me translate that into ebonics: "she gon' have more den one baby daddy"), raising her kids to be just as ignorant as she is, including the low expectations they accept as the norm. Go check out what Bill Cosby or Chris Rock said about the perpetuation of ignorance, poverty, violence and crime amongst low income blacks in urban sections of cities aka the ghetto or the 'Hood. Cosby should know, that's where he grew up in West Philly, one of the scariest 'Hoods in the United States, I'd put North Philly up there as well (might as well throw in SouthWest Philly, Nicetown, West Oak Lane, East Mount Airy, etc.) Chris Rock too, he grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NYC, NY (aka Bed-Sty). A majority of people in those areas have no interest in avoiding the lawlessness, escalation to violence over slights or insults, over people "dissing you," etc., to instead emphasize better educations, to live healthier lives, to enjoy a better quality of life with less dysfunction, both birth parents in their children's lives, etc. They have bizarro values that don't correlate to those exercised by mainstream society, especially the part where resorting to violence is an acceptable choice and a necessary component of everyday life in the 'Hood as some part of a twisted honor value that includes not cooperating with the authorities when witnessing crime or when the authorities are trying to round up wanted criminals, that factors racial prejudice into everything in life that doesn't go their way. It's a sad commentary in the 21st century, but if they didn't blame everyone else for their troubles, they'd have to accept responsibility for their actions and the horrid, disappointing. miserable, unhealthy, anxiety filled lives most of them end up experiencing. Here's a news flash for you: accepting responsibility and taking an active role in their lives ain't never gonna' happen. Like I said, it's sad. STOP MAKING LAME EXCUSES AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND AN ACTIVE ROLE IN SHAPING AND CREATING YOUR LIVES, NO ONE CAN DO IT FOR YOU!

Rachel – hold your head up high. You are smart and have a lot of courage.

B37 is about as mucg as George zimmerman, Its a sad case when you adults need to validate the cold blood kiulling of a youth. In my prior post I said Zimmerman was a punk, The reason that the jury was all female was because the defence know beyond a reasonable doubt that any Male would have questioned why a Grown 200 pound man could not whoop this kid? In all of the post that I read your either living in your FOX White world back in 1970 and not accepting the plight opf the inner city. Most of us want to live in this exclusive box, not wanting to accept the lives of those that have challenges. Being a person with ADD & Dyslexia I get her, what is sad is that she was brutally honest far more than the majority of a large percentage of americans. Everyone know Zipperman was on drugs why do you thing it was not used at trial because they would have had a line up of Physicians to back the clame that he was pumped up far more than the little pot that Martin had in him. Whats else is a shame here is so many people here dont want to accept that they have racial tendancies, we all have it, were all a product of the effect of slavery and completely racially divided. The biggest story besides the death of Travon is when the case was over the accusations by the defense attorney’s inappropriate conduct during the case and the statement that they tried to treat us like public defenders 9they apologized for that statement to public defenders). And the prosecutors bragging that they won 78 out of 80 murder cases they tried. The claims of inappropriate behavior on behalf of the prosecution makes me wonder how many weak or public defenders did they bully and send innocent men or women to jail.

The other issue is that the civil rights groups that include Al Sharpton and friends all argue for their day in court. First they argue that they want Zimmerman charged and tried by a jury, they got their wish. Now when the result comes back and the jury speaks they still claim injustices, it seems like the stsytem is only right when the people being charged are found guilty. The system is the sytem and the jury spoke and the case was heard and decided by a jury – case closed.

The prosecutions star witness just put an end to all the controversy...and I'm not surprised Piers didn't call her out on it...She said clearly that Tayvon was whoopin ass. Well someone who is getting their ass whooped has every right to fear for their life and to defend themselves. Now Al doesn't have to go to Florida, Holder can stop the Witch hunt, The MSM can all stop trying to start a race war and Pierse can apologize for letting such an important point in this whole story go without question.

The problem was not with Rachel Jeantel but with the team that worked with her. Although her ability to convey her first hand knowledge was less that par the information that she had was important in finding the truth. Her comments were collaborated by zimmerman himself. Trayvon started running when Rachel told him to run. The problem is the time line that Zimmerman established was not accurate. The 911 operator asked Zimmerman if trayvon was at the club house and Zimmerman said you. Soon after Zimmerman said that trayvon was running. This synchronizes zimmermans call with Rachel's call. Zimmerman made the call to 911 while he was on twin tree not at the club house. The state failed to prove that Zimmerman was not telling the truth. Zimmerman exited the truck was walked down twin tree. The wind abruptly stopped on his 911 call because the homes blocked the wind. Zimmerman was not where he stated he was. That is why he told 911 to tell the police to call him. Youtube search inobuz.

Just because Don West tripped her up does not mean she was not telling the truth. The famous question of what does wet grass sound like? That threw Rachel and everyone else. How does wet grass sound? Like Jenna Laurer stated. Jenna said she heard what sounded like basketball shoes on a court. The squeaking sound is what wet grass sounds like when walked or scuffled on. Also Doris singleton could not read the cursive writing as some people's cursive writing is difficult to read. Sometimes the Defense lawyers charter is to make the truth a lie and lies the truth. The jury came to the right conclusion based on what the state presented.

She lied on the stand...and if she lied about one thing, you can't believe her entire testimony....I know the believers won't admit it but she lied....here's how....

1)She said Cracka is not a racist term...everyone knows it is...but say for a minute her claim of Cracka meaning a security guard....why was Trayvon beating on the guy he thought was a security guard??? It's all B.S.

        2) She told Piers Morgan that Trayvon was "Whoopin ass"...but she said it was Trayvon yelling for help on the 911 tape....how many people do you know yell for help when they are the one "Whoopin ass"???? She knew it wasn't Trayvon, but she lied and said it was.

Shame on us for following the law? Shame on you for wanting to convict a man who was obviously defending himself. You heard Ms. Jeantel tell Piers Morgan that Trayvon was "Whoopin ass"....so you're telling me if you had a son, brother or husband who was getting his ass whooped and feared for his life, that he would have no right to defend himself? And if you keep up with the news in this country...we have more blacks killed by other blacks...most of the time for drugs or their shoes or jackets....and those stories go un noticed.....but a non black defends himself against a black and it's national news and an excuse for animals to wreck the country? Shame on you Rita for being so ignorant.

It is a shame this young women has become such a flah point of the trial. She neither sounds stupid nor unbelievable. Because she was a very close friend of Trayvon, she sees him thru that Prism which is very different than the way others see him. Was is tragic is that people like Piers Morgan who pretend to be serious TV commentators did not spend any time trying to find out more about the troubling parts of Trayvon's background. What about the fighting, the drug use, the desire to obtain a gun. Something more substantial than the fluff and cuddling that Piers gave her. He could do this without being nasty or inflammatory. He just chooses not to because he has an agenda he is pushing with every interview. Only George Zimmerman's brother seemed to be able to deflect the ridiculous accusations from Piers and attempt to really talk about the truth in this whole tragic situation. Too bad for Piers and really too bad for the listening audience who deserves to hear the whole unvarnished truth – not this witch hunt and race bating we get...

And our daughters are willing to accept it actually expect it as in what defines a man.

How much is NRA that sponsored the "stand your ground" law paying you? You need to be schooled on how power structures in this society is created.. would love to debate you on how racial/hegemony society is created. unfortunately you play a role in creating these hegemonic society.

I certainly know how the black communities power structure is....keep the blacks as uneducated as possible so that they NEED to look for someone for guidance. Just like people telling Ms Jeantel that she's so smart knowing full well she probably couldn't fill out an application for McDonalds without help. If she's so smart...why does she need to be GIVEN a full scholarship? And the one guy said it had to be to an historic black college...why? To brainwash her even more to depend on black leaders. Fact of this case...Zimmerman had a right to defend himself against the wannabe thug. ....on another not Hannity tonight asked a NAACP member if he could name just 1 of the 61 blacks killed in Chicago during the Zimmerman trial...he could not.

Zimmerman is a bitter, fat trigger happy child molesting troll with serious mental issues. He molested his cousin for years and she was too afraid to come out. Now she's talking. It's not over for this punk in hiding. He evidently didn't take his meds the night he murdered Trayvon, A nut job with a gun. Nuts like this are always ready to kill like it's nothing.

Piers Morgan, you have totally lost soo much points since covering this entire story.I am black myself and I have to say instead of you looking at the facts and allowing justice to take it's course all you people at CNN and the media did was blow this up to be all about race.I want you to think about this. You have to live with this on your conscience for promoting and dividing people because of race. You might think that's not what you're doing or was helping but you must understand that's how society interprets things and they will just jump on the bandwagon. Also, why blame the entire system..This was left up to 5 jurors..which I am positive some of them had to be white..Why are you not commenting about that?.You all need to stop doing things for your stupid ratings. It's destroying people.

Listen to the tape that Crump released days after Trayvon was killed. Still don't believe me or afraid of the link? Google "Witness Rachel 'Dee Dee' Jeantel (W8) Files: Trayvon Martin" or just click the link. It's clean.
Why is the media hiding this? This is the real girlfriend of Trayvon who was a minor and on the phone with Trayvon!. Rachel Jenteal is a fraud planted by Crump! Sadly, the Martins know this too.

Now after listening go back and listen to all her interviews, including this one, where she "slips" and says "she" and then covers fast and says "I"...because she KNOWS she was not talking to Trayvon when he encountered George Zimmerman. Explains why she didn't go to the funeral. Nobody would have known her.
