Tonight at 9: Piers Morgan welcomes Eliot Spitzer, puts Larry Elder on "The Grill"

Half a decade since a series of private indiscretions halted his political career, Eliot Spitzer is back pursuing public office, as the 54-year-old Democrat has recently announced a run for New York City Comptroller.

Having easily acquired enough signatures to legitimatize his candidacy, this evening the former governor will join "Piers Morgan Live" to discuss his quest for redemption, normalcy, and forgiveness. Once dubbed the “Sheriff of Wall Street,” Spitzer recently told CNN's Christine Romans that he feels "the public is going to give me a fair hearing." But will Piers Morgan be equally understanding? Tune in at 9 for the live, exclusive interview.

Meanwhile, on the heels of a rapidly intensifying twitter feud, tonight Larry Elder takes a seat on "The Grill," where the topic of Rachel Jeantel and her recent interview is expected to fan the flames:

And, continuing analysis of the "not guilty" verdict reached in the George Zimmerman trial, tonight seasoned legal eagles Alan Dershowitz, J.Christian Adams, and Kevin Cobbin will offer their interpretation of the courtroom drama that has polarized and divided a nation. Finally, Marilou Allen Coogan – a juror from the Jodi Arias trial – will join the program in an effort to help explain the experience of serving on a high profile legal case.

Tune in to "Piers Morgan Live" tonight at 9, for everything from Spitzer to Elder, from George Zimmerman to Rachel Jeantel.

FYI Carol....isn't the young man in JAIL awaiting trial? He wasn't free roaming the streets for 42 days after killing someone. Trust me this young man never will see daylight for his killing unlike GZ.

Try another example if you may.

In your rush to be flippant, you are missing her point.

Question: WHY is the media not at all focused on this story?

Answer: It doesn't suit the racial/social criterion for the MainScream Media to exploit (for profit) whilst fomenting Left-of-Center political discontent across the nation.

It doesn't really matter anyway as my opinions are clearly in the minority in this country. Congrats to the radical Left for winning the "hearts & minds" war, I guess. This country is far obtuse stupid to awaken from it's self imposed slumber. Oh well.

I do wonder, when the country runs out of "white republicans" to blame for their own personal failings, who be the next target of socialistic vitriol? Well to do Asians perhaps? Inquiring minds want to know.

Steve your answer is on point..had GZ been arrested immediately after the incident...there would not have been an outcry for justice. Chris in 'your' rush to be flippant, it is you who is missing the point. In the case Carol is referencing there had been an immediate arrest and that case is well on its way through the Judicial System. In Trayvon's case, no arrest, child in the morgue as a John Doe, and after identifying the body, parents told the shooter was free to walk around unchallenged on his statement of self defense against an unarmed teenager...IMO, and as you see from many other across the nation..that was unacceptable!

I'm quite frankly shocked that Zimmerman was found not guilty basically. I mean, come on, he shot the teen dead for no reason. It quite frankly is murder. He should of been found guilty and sentenced, where is the justice?

This case proves that there's something very wrong with the justice system if a man like George Zimmerman can shoot an unarmed teenager dead and get away with it.

Removing the race and age elements, would you still find such levels of sympathy for someone that hid in the darkness and physically assaulted another person? Most likely not. With that you're wearing the race blinders and avoiding the facts of the incident and the facts that were established during the trial. And because sensationalism is the tactic when retorting without facts, the age of Martin is being used to exert the victim is someone of innocence, a child, where in fact he was the victim of his own demise.

Just because someone assaults you at night, doesn't give you the right to shoot them dead. Was his life in danger? Was a gun pointed at him? Was Treyvon holding a knife to his throat? No. Zimmerman elected to pull a weapon and shoot the teenager dead, and no excuse given by Zimmerman supporters will ever change that, the situation could of easily ended without Treyvon being murdered in cold blood.

What Zimmerman did was not self defense, it was murder.

Matthew, I regret ever retorting to your comment. I did not realize I was in the midst with someone so ignorant and engulfed in bias related to race than facts and objectivity.

In your response you espouse various hypotheticals, but all within the prosecutor's perspective. I recommend you look up the definition of objectivity... and then apply to your premise. Either way, good luck with that.

And what about the other young black man – Michael Maddison – who tortured and killed at the very least three young women, all of them white, whose bodies were discovered only recently inside an abandoned house in Cleveland, OHIO. Have we heard the NAACP speaking about that crime? Have we heard any of the "reverends" ask for rallies to pray for those white victims of the black man?Let's face it! it's all one-sided these days and I, for one, have had it with the "poor Trayvon" statements. The juvenile committed a crime – he assaulted another man, Zimmerman – at dark. He assaulted the wrong man, that's all!.

Where did I mention race? Are you an idiot or something? If this is the calibre of person defending George Zimmerman, then quite frankly you are laughable.

Funnier enough, you don't address any points made. Fact is, Zimmerman made the choice to shoot an unarmed teenager dead, and no amount of rambling from you will ever change that, he should not of taken the law into his own hands, that's what we have Police for. If Treyvon assaulted him first, he could of fled the scene and reported him to Cops, he didn't, he drew a gun and shot him dead when he didn't need too.

He is a murderer, plain a simple.

TM should have never attacked GZ.

Trayvon Martin made the choice to get himself a "white Man", as his many text messages indicated. 6"2' tall physically fit Trayvon Martin assaulted 5"7 overweight Mr Zimmerman who was doing his civic duty by walking around his neighborhood to keep it safe from hoodlums and thieves, some of them hooded and some of them teenagers. Trayvon Martin had the opportunity to walk to his father's place and even say "hi" to Mr Zimmerman as he was walking home. He instead chose to stick around, even surprise Mr Zimmerman in the dark and punch him and start a fight with him. He he would have gotten himself a "White Man" indeed had not Mr Zimmerman defended himself in the way he did. I wonder how many more hoodlums and thieves terrorized that neighborhood after the incidents. We are told that the house-breakings and thieving stopped immediately after that! Wonder why?????

Thanks again for getting the information out on Stand Your Ground.

Neither do you?!?! you don't represent all African Americans either. But Elder never once tried to. Piers is an ARS. He really has no clue and likes to make presumptions based on controversy. Anyone that knows anything about the law knows that Murder should have never been the charge–tons of DA's have said since the verdict that they would have never tried for Murder.

Terrible situation, I think the DA didn't want to convict a "Stand your Ground" case because it is popular but needed to try a case because of outcry. If he had gone for manslaughter, I think GZ would be behind bars right now. A reasonable human being wouldn't bring a gun to a skittle fight–GZ was unreasonable that night. TM beating him gave him a reason to pull the trigger, even if neither of them should have been there in the first place...

If he wants to focus on the larger issues than he should do it on another platform that specifically addresses those topics. He was asked to discuss his rant concerning Rachael, not his vast array of opinions and assessments on the political state of America. And if he is focusing on the larger issues, then he should try to investigate the root causes of the problems assciated with what he feels is Rachael's lack of education, diction, etc. He was short on empathy and long on criticism for what she had experienced.

In light of the all the controversy over the George Zimmerman verdict, one should remember the old axiom, "Be careful what you wish for"

Only because of political pressure by civil rights groups did the Governor removed Norman Wolfinger as the State Attorney to prosecute this case. That is because Wolfinger was moving the investigation cautiously without any prejudice either way. He made it cleat that his intention was to present the facts to a Grand Jury to decide whether the facts and evidence supported criminal charges and, if so, what the charges should be.

The Grand Jury is the method that is normally and routinely used in cases like the Zimmerman case. But the civil rights groups and Martins' attorney had no confidence or faith in the Grand Jury process, even though only the prosecution presents evidence and testimony for the Grand Jury to consider.

But the State buckled under political pressure to proceed in an abnormal process in hopes of guaranteeing a finding of guilt for homicide. Had the normal process been allowed to proceed under Seminole County State Attorney Wolfinger, the outcome may have been more favorable, The Grand Jury could have charge more reasonable crimes to hold Zimmerman accountable, but the specially appointed prosecutor went for all the marbles! And the prosecutors had no integrity.

The system was subverted and the results are the outcome. So people should stop their belly aching. It was Treyvon Martin supporters who are to blame. They got the special treatment they demanded and now they do not like the results.

Elder simply stated how she came across on the stand, and how he thinks piers is patronizing her. Is preaching hard work and education a bad thing? Instead of continually attacking the man's character, why not respond to his points?

I'm also unsure if you are being intentionally ironic, as what you said are classic Morgan tactics...

Growing up in poverty, single parent home, surrounded by drugs etc, what do you expect. Why isnt anyone addressing those issues or helping people find a job. Bottom line, zimmermen feared his life, there for he defended himself. I bet if it was anyone else in a situation like that than they would whatever it takes to survive. Larry Elder is an idiot, the very reason black people can't move forward. The bible says to be slow to speak, quick to listen. Where is the compassion on all people. Many well to do Americans ignore issues and want to distance themselves from them. Lets get out of our boxes and be sensitive towards others. Some people such as Rachel may be in an environment where their mind set is totally different from ours (so called educated). Instead of criticizing, Why wont he do something about like Tom Joyner. He is helping resolve the issue versus throwing stones. Define smart? I am so disappointed in him as a black male on national television speaking as such about the black community when He can be a mentor. Zimmerman shot an innocent child that is what everyone is ignoring. He is very negative and full of rage and anger. Read Proverbs 6:16-19. Being judgmental on uneducated blacks and those in poverty will not help the situation. Think about Jesus and how he hung around sinners and those in need. We are here to lift others up not to bring them down. I am an educator and could very well ignore issues and talk about how parents aren't involved in their child's education, but I offer my help and become a service to them. This is what we are to do as Americans and as believers in our Lord and Savior. You are an embarrassment not just to Blacks, but to Americans and the very reason why people look at all African Ameircans with negative notions.

Larry Elder's microphone should have been turned OFF.

He was yelling (very annoying) continually, bad mouthing news media how they were not advocating that black America get their act together, get better languagy, etc all the while he was showing extremely BAD MANNERS to keep talking and to talk over Piers. He needs A COURSE IN ETTIQUETTE!!! NO ONE WANTS TO LISTEN TO THAT KIND OF SHOW OF BAD MANNERS.
I turned the channle – PLEASE – cut their mike off when they are sooooo rude

I agree with Larry Elder 100% Piers Morgan is doing nothing but stirring up the black community in a bad way and it's all because he hates guns. We need more George Zimmermans and less Piers Morgans.

Larry Elder was absolutely ridculous! He was ignorant, offensive, disrespectful, and refused to answer directly any questions. Please, please, please do not have him on your show again. He obviously had his own agenda. Some assessments he made of the black community may have been true, but the way they were espoused fell on deaf ears because of his ignorance. I am a teacher, a divorced parent with 2 children who unfortunately, had little contact with their father while growing up. But my son is a lawyer and my daughter is a teacher and I am a black american who will never allow Larry Elder to speak for me!

Larry Elder admittedly has a "personality built for radio" in that he was a bull in a China shop during the interview. This is largely due to the fact that he knew he had limited air time and was focused on making a broader point in regard to the social woes facing America. I'm acutally suprised that CNN had the "balls" to air the entire interview as I was anticipating a recorded (and subsequently edited) piece. Larry Elder was overly agressive to be sure, but it was a core message that is certainly needed at this time.

The guest was absolutely correct when he indicated the disproportionate viloent crime rate vis-a-vis black/white. Facts are facts and I realize that this is exceedingly difficult for the race baiting / Socialisist crowd to accept.

I have lived in Los Angeles my entire life and I can speak from personal experience that the "white assailant" is hardly the biggest concern for any ethnic or racial group in this country. Common and sense and FACTS bear this out. Sorry.

So that's what you call it, a personality built for radio? Sounds like a bitter, angry, frustrated man who is trying to be someone other than who he is. Sounds like self-hatred to me. Instead of haranguing Rachael he should have taken the time to understand who she really is instead of being a talking head for the right.

I would ask you to remove yourself from raw emotion on these issues. It's the only way to properly analyze an important topic.

I don't see the man as being "self hating" at all. In fact, the whole "Uncle Tom" thing, which is what you"re basically implying, is wrong headed. I would say that the man is rightfully focused on the larger issues facing America in general and the "black community" in general.

with all do respect Ernestine, he would only "Sounds like a bitter, angry, frustrated man" to someone who is not in touch with the issues that are really affecting our communities today. and i dont mean Piers Morgans lol . if you really look into the redirect and ask some questions rather than judge his performance, you might learn something. if he's " bitter, angry, frustrated" , its at the fact that our communities are ripping themselves apart from the inside out. Lets talk about that for a change. if we ant to clean up our streets and communities lets stop looking for scape goats and start looking in our own back yards.

With all due respect SenorO......WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Converse with a teacher who teaches in urban America. My God! We are soooo in touch with every aspect of the community, the victims, the offenders, the supporters and the carpet baggers.Teachers are on the front lines, in the trenches, expected to be all things to all people. No one is looking for scape goats but the frustration comes in working to right a situation and having misguided, apathetic, finger pointing, hypocritical, talking heads speaking of a situation that they know nothing about.

I just saw Piers try to interview a rabid virus, a.k.a. Larry Elder. We're all familiar with TV talking heads who won't shut up so someone else can talk; but this psycho's incvilty was breathtaking. Piers handled this foaming revolto masterfully – especially at the close-out..

Eliot Spitzer has mental problems.–crazy as a March hare. He’s deluded into thinking he can do as he wishes and then have the city of New York put their trust in him again. Spitzer is nuts.

To Chris in Los Angeles...".I would ask you to remove yourself from raw emotion on these issues. It's the only way to properly analyze an important topic" ........Oh really? .So you have determined that I am under the influence of "raw emotion"? And you are presuming to direct me on how to properly analyze an "important topic"? You think too much of yourself. I have a right to my opinion as you do. And I have a right to express that opinion. As an educator and master teacher I do know how to observe behavior, and not only navigate the facts, but objectively and comprehensively prioritze and dissect those facts. And I do know the difference between objectivity and a misguided, 'loose cannon' frothing-at-the-mouth rant. Mr. Elder did no service to himself or the Black community by the way he represented himself tonight.

Instead of being "offended" by what I have stated, we could have a more productive discussion by addressing the questions I posed to you.

Try removing Larry Elder, Martin/Zimmerman, race, emotion & politics from the equation – Are my basic points incorrect?

Also, if Larry Elder did a "disservice to the Black Community", how would you characterize what individuals like Al Sharpton & Jessie Jackson have done to the Black Community over the years? These two remind me of the mayor & senator portrayed in HBO's "The Wire".

Larry Elder took a blow torch to the interview, but he is not the problem here.

I found Larry Elder's "performance" on the Piers Morgan show disgusting. Not only would he not answer any of Pierce's questions, obviously intent on spewing forth his own ridiculous opinions. I don't disagree that there is a huge problem in this country with African Americans killing each other, but there are huge social issues involved with that major problem. But, to assert, as he basically did, that if you were an educated African American walking down the street, then you had nothing to worry about. What world is he living in? I don't care if you're an African American who graduated from Harvard, Yale, etc., if you're walking through a predominately White neighborhood dressed "inappropriately" for that neighborhood, you better be watching your back. For Elder to even imply that massive racism does not still exist in this country is just stupid, or ignorant at best.

All Elder would have to do in that same neighborhood is tell the watch volunteer who he is and continue on. Do not sneak up from behind him and try to beat the volunteer to death. TM was not going directly home. I wonder what got his attention? Zim was doing his job. If TM was doing what he was supposed to he would be alive. Yes, Alder could walk through the same hood unopposed

Larry we got a name for you in the black community around the country and I need not say it but if you are real black man like I am then you know what it is. So head on back to Fox news if you can't help this child then shut your mouth with all the negative things you are saying about her. Every now and then Fox let out one of their snakes to do the dirty work for them when you make it you should help not hurt. With that I must say much love to you Mr. Morgan and I hope that this is not to strong for your page if so I do apologize to you not Larry he can go back to Fox are go fly his plane that he had to let every one no who cares about you having one if you really do have one at all. We teach our kids not to bully I guess Larry missed the memo. Get over it Larry Mr. Romney lost a long time ago. We love you Rachel keep it real don't let those fake people kill your spirit.

Your peevish "THANK YOU" at the end was not your normal style – You are going on and on about an issue that was settled in the trial by jury – Live with it and stop moaning

So in other words, being black implies that he should forget about his own values, opinion (and common sense) and just start running and baying with the pack? So with the same logic ALL white & hispanic people should stand behind Zimmerman, just because they are part of the same ethnicity? That's how people BLEND in the same society right? This statement is 100% racism darling. That said, I have noticed a bunch of white people in the protests: should they be considered "traitors" to their ethnicity group also or should we consider them as individuals expressing their own opinion? Grow up!
