In the ongoing battle between British television personalities, for the moment, Piers Morgan leads John Oliver by the slimmest of margins.
On Monday evening, Oliver, currently filling in for Jon Stewart as host of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central, had a laugh at the "Piers Morgan Live" host's expense, referencing a tumble the latter took while riding a Segway in California.
Showing extreme enjoyment, Oliver offered a ten thousand dollar reward for the individual who could share evidence of the infamous Segway spill.
Less than 24 hours later, Morgan himself answered the challenge:
"Mock all you want Mr. Oliver, but, my fellow Brit, your punch line did carry with it a bona fide offer, to anyone you said, who could produce the video of me falling off a Segway, and by the way, breaking five ribs, collapsing a lung and nearly expiring from life," detailed Morgan, further explaining Oliver's bit. "Well, guess what John, I have the video, it's real and it's right here."
Rolling footage of himself hitting a curb, and popping off the motorized machine, Morgan attempted to collect:
"Satisfied, John? I hope you are, because that was as painful as it looked. But now it's time for you to suffer pain. Ten thousand dollars worth of pain in fact," he said, referring back to Oliver's offer. "I assume the money will be delivered by the end of business day tomorrow. If not, I'll make sure that Mr. Stewart, now he's back from his lengthy movie making sabbatical, will take it out of your measly little salary."
