Piers Morgan on arming Americans without vision: "They're blind! These people are blind!"

Fresh off a trip across the pond, where he proudly accepted an award as UK GQ's "TV Personality of the Year," on Monday evening Piers Morgan was back inside his CNN New York studio, doing what he does best: putting guests on "The Grill" and engaging in a gun debate.

Joining Morgan in person, Emily Miller got the host's British blood boiling when she suggested a certain, specific segment of society ought to be included amongst the rest of the nation's gun-bearing public:

"I know a lot of these disability groups want to say you can't take away their rights because they're blind," said the author of "Emily gets her gun...but Obama wants to take yours." "It's a complicated issue."

Visibly distraught with the notion of those without vision using firearms, the "Piers Morgan Live" host couldn't get past one simple fact:

"They're blind! These people are blind," he exclaimed. "I interviewed Stevie Wonder. He said 'can you imagine I'm allowed to go and buy guns. Can you imagine me with a gun?' It is utterly ridiculous."

Watch the clip for more of Morgan's interview with Miller, including the portion where the guest explains the value and reasoning behind arming blind Americans, and for the next edition of "Piers Morgan Live," watch CNN every night at 9.

You stated that you rarely get any posts or info that state that guns actually deterred crime in any way. That you might get one or two a week. I will try to help you out a little bit with your information gathering: http://bearingarms.com/wilmington-carjackers-foiled/ Now, if you would subscribe to bearingarms.com they post about 2 or 3 of the more worthy stories per week, not the ones that Ms. Miller was talking of, e.g., racking a shotgun will scare someone. Personally, I would be very happy if every state banned concealed carry permits and stick strictly by the Second Amendment of not infringing and let anyone who want to "open carry" a firearm. Some cities, states, counties might then pass laws governing the open carry, e.g., laws against holsters, e.g, the barrel must be showing at all times or the chamber must be void of a live round or be breached in the open position. But at least if you saw someone with a firearm, you would be aware of it, not be surprised when they all of a sudden pulled a weapon that was concealed. Businesses, churches, government buildings where firearms would be prohibited should offer a secure, guarded check room or for a fee locker for gun owners to check their firearm upon entering...but not at a price gouging rate, e.g., $200 for a one hour check in.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A Gainesville man's lack of sight didn't stop him from defending his home from an intruder.

According to police, Cevaughn Curtis Jr., 28, broke into Arthur Williams' house in Gainesville at around 3 a.m.

Curtis, police said, knocked on the door, asked to be let inside but Williams refused. Curtis then tried to force his way into the home.

The 75-year-old retired taxi dispatcher, who's been legally blind for the past 61 years, opened fire on the would-be-thief who kicked down his door, police said.

Police said Williams shot Curtis, who tried to flee but collapsed on the front porch, inthe left side of the neck. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said Curtis was charged with burglary of an occupied residence and battery on a person over the age of 65.

Piers clearly won this debate. Blind people should not have guns. The very idea of allowing blind people who are obviously Blind to have a gun is ludicrous. There is a danger of them shooting themselves or others. Ridiculous to even think that blind people should have guns.

How arrogant can you be? First of all being legally blind does not mean you may not be able to see at all.. Some have vision that is ok up close but not at a distance. Some have limited vision because of light conditions. I am assuming you are a sighted person , so when its dark outside you will leave your gun at home? Why not? you cant see as well right? Maybe its pitch black out and you cannot see your hand in front of your face.. Well you should not have your gun either because you cant "see" to use it right? Maybe the Blind should not be allowed to vote.. well they cant really tell who they are casting a vote for now can they? Maybe the deaf should not be allowed to use sign language in public.. you know all the crazy arm waving is dangerous and offensive.. Obviously those restrictions I suggest are satire.. to restrict someones liberties because of a handicap is morally wrong. even if it is ..... GUNS! ...

Piers fragile sensibilities getting beat up by a 110 lb lady was funny. No one takes him seriously and he makes CNN look ban, I bet he's fired from there in just short of a year, but Im sure the IRS will hire him to make movies. I'm not a Gun nut, but I have saved life's three times in the last 25 years, and there are vets using them correctly in the civilian world daily. A good example is that vet who was in the news a couple days ago. Someone tried to rob him, he arm bared him and synotaniously pulled his firearm placing the barrel in the would be robbers mouth. The police arrive and retrieved DNA from the barrel of the pistol and are currently looking for him. There's hundreds of stories like that, which I know of a lot. Just from people in the area. So it's safe to say that Piers wants to stand up for something like firearms, with the Obama approach, "Tell everyone how he feels about firearms, but is unwilling to do the leg work to support his cause, and yell louder when he gets his fragile feelings hurt. But like I said, it's funny watching a 110lb girl publicly humiliate him on the air easily.

    Piers,

First of all, talk less, listen more. What is the point of having someone on your show and interviewing them if you will not even let them speak??

Second, should blind people be allowed to have clubs or bats? Machetes? Bow & arrow? Knives? Should we make this illegal too?? I think not! They have just as much right to defend themselves as anyone else. Seriously...

Josh, what a dumb argument you bring, clubs and bats are NOT the same as guns because you have to aim a gun in order to shoot a target, same reason why they are not allowed to drive.

So , when its pitch black out and your walking home.. cant see your hand in front of your face and a mugger comes at you. Well you should just drop to your knees and service him right? Why not? Your "blind" you cant use your gun either right? or your in your home in bed.. guy storms in pitch black and starts assaulting you and your wife. Well just let the poor fellow have his way with her.. its not like you can see him to stop him right?

Yeah I think you found the one problem with their blind theory. That's what I think their wanting to happen unless Piers is afraid of getting pregnant. They are definitely not familiar with Firearms at all. I've been an instructor and you don't have to go like that, blind people have other senses that are already highly tuned. Not being blind I would assume they have a good sense of direction and since being an instructor I have always taught Natural point of aim when shooting, a blind person would most likely be more accurate with a live target verses a paper target that's still and makes no noises. Their are lots of variables involved in the situation. Of a blind person. But live I've said before piers is playing pin the tail on a. Donkey to make hisself feel better, to each his own, but its funny looking at his uneducated guesses that make him look more stupid than he already is? Maybe if he's that interested in Proving people like himself are unsafe and can't be trusted and has had double jeopardy stick a few times on him because he's a limy, bean, who knows. Looks like he's scared of Razors too.

Let me try to post this for the third time, maybe 3x's is the charm... First of all, Mr. Morgan, you are a tad short sighted, let me explain: A blind person can buy a vehicle, even though they cannot drive it. Why, because they want the freedom to come and go as they so please without depending upon a taxi or government D.H.H, minivan to bring them somewhere and they have to be ready to go between certain hours and be willing to stay until fetched and delivered back to their place of abode. They may have a mate, friend, neighbor, or hired help who have eyes and can pass a state's D.L. test. This blind person who purchases a vehicle is within his/her rights to own a vehicle, correct? Same with a weapon. This blind person may intend it for possible use by someone else either for their protection or for it to be used for this other person to protect them. There are many scenarios that could play out as to why a blind person has need of a firearm. I agree with you, a normal person's first or immediate reaction is "why?" and "how could they use a weapon safely?" That's where the sighted person comes in, whether they be kin, friend, or simply a neighbor. It is very possible that the weapon purchased by said blind person might be a gift for a relative who hunts (talking sporting firearms here, not military style). You can't simply say NO to every blind person who wishes to purchase a firearm. That would be like saying no blind man can purchase a Playboy magazine and saying preposterous, they have no use for such...YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!!! There well may be others connected with this blind guy who wants this magazine, or will read it to him or even describe the centerfold to him. He then get pleasure out of this Playboy magazine no matter how trivial or how warped this example may be, the point is the same. Unless you use the vehicle, magazine, or firearm to break the law and not only the law of common sense but also laws of a nation, state, county, or municipality; then, you are ok...no foul, no penalty. You have got to get used to American freedoms and quit thinking like the nanny state U.K. where the government tells you when to wipe your butt or blow your nose. Even in the U.K. there are things that make NO sense...like why would anyone be allowed to purchase a Maserati Spyder when the fastest you can go on any roadway is 80 to 100 k.p.h. and this machine is capable of 320 k.p.h.; why would anyone be allowed to buy it???

Objective danger: .45cal semiautomatic = 350 ft-lbfs of kinetic energy (that which is able to do work on a human being in a small mass(bullet) and large mass(human) collision.

Two automobiles passing each other in opposite directions separated by a thickly painted double yellow line: two million ft-lbfs of kinetic energy (that which is able to do work on a human being in a small mass(human)and large mass(auto, even, auto that a human is strapped into)collision. For as long as our 20 gallon tanks permit; hours of actually deployed kinetic energy. No wonder the body bags tell the real story.

With the right dies, a 'Braille' version of Playboy is entirely possible.

Someone breaks into a blind person's home. That blind person is not deaf. Is an armed blind person a deterrent? Is someone going to assume they are going to make no noise at all when .. breaking into a house, confronting the blind person? Who is the paternalistic maegalomaniac that is going to deny the right of self defense to a blind person or anyone for that matter? The real story of Newtown was a broken boy left in the wake of a broken marriage– just like the three that Pierce left stranded on the battlefield of his failed marriage while sniffing after the celebrit journalist strange with Mrs. whatsername, long gone. But it's got to be about the guns; not much to wonder about where this guys demons are coming from on this subject.

Piers Morgan-You have too much patience with IDIOTS in interviews. This evening I watched your interview about blind people obtaining guns...all the way to automatic rifles. I saw all of it. I do not remember the IDIOT you were trying to interview. He did look like a neo-nazi. He was absolutely crazy. You were so composed. Ask CNN to install a big unplug switch with a very loud buzzer and a big red light with the word UNPLUGGED!! Because this nut case was not making his case with you. You were talking to a brick wall. Next time if not for you, but for us-HIT the button and Unplug

I realize your anti-gun position but you are incredibly rude to your guests who DARE to opine against you!

Blind people DO NOT NEED AK-47's or M-16s....But please do NOT make a mockery of handicapped U.S. citizens who have the RIGHT to bear arms!

You are such an obnoxious interviewer that I am amazed anyone would would come on your show knowing if they had a different point of view from you that they wouldn't be personally assailed.

You lost that debate with Ben Ferguson in a big way. The best you had to offer was Stevie Wonder against guns for the blind while he's surrounded by body guards. Please! You gotta do better than that. I normally enjoy listening to you even if you are on the liberal side. But, even after it was obvious you had no good points, you kept on going. Kinda sad, to see you trying to stay alive in a debate that you so far out of your depth. Maybe you should stick to debating this issue in Britain.

The real shame is, piers won't interview the people that he keeps naming...."what does the ordinary citizen" ...He is just so uneducated about what he is talking about when it comes to firearms. He is the typical hoplophobe that thinks black equals bad when it comes to said firearms...
When a person has no clue, they try and rely on emotions, and loud voice to try and get a point across. Just makes them look like angy brits...
Truth is, as was proven in the 1700s, we are better than you...
