Rebecca Musser on being an FLDS wife: "A woman vows to give herself to her husband"

Coming up this evening at 9, Piers Morgan welcomes Rebecca Musser for a candid and eye-opening face to face, primetime interview.

The former wife of Rulon Jeffs, the late leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Musser famously escaped a life of abuse and polygamy, later aiding authorities in legal proceedings that led to 11 convictions.

Joining the "Piers Morgan Live" host this evening, Musser describes being forced to wed a man more than six decades her senior:

"Inside of me, there was a tremendous amount of disappointment, confusion and overwhelm," says Musser, who was born into the FLDS Church. "I was scared. I was terrified of marrying this man. And yet, I could not say no because it would bring a tremendous amount of shame to my family. So there was a tremendous amount of pressure on me to do my duty that I had been raised my entire life to perform."

Musser was the 19th of Jeffs' 64 wives, and explains the duties expected by her controlling spouse:

"In their marriage covenant, a woman vows to give herself to her husband. And that refers to everything ... her body, her mind and her soul," says the woman who details her life's journey in a memoir entitled "The Witness Wore Red: The 19th Wife Who Brought Polygamous Cult Leaders to Justice." "They do require that. Rulon Jeffs did. And they tell you that it's for God, it's in God's name."

Watch the above clip for more details of Musser's story, including revelations of feeling "terrified" and "violated." Then tune in to CNN at 9 for the entire edition of "The Piers Morgan Interview.".

it's amazing that a Pastor's son could take his life without a second thought although suicide is common in west. the father has written a book on purpose driven life and his very son wasn't driven by life. it's a pity.
