This evening Piers Morgan welcomes Chelsea Clinton for a primetime interview, in the process pressing the woman who holds the unique distinction of being the daughter of both a former president, and a former secretary of state, for details of the family's political future.
"Is your mom running for president," asks the "Piers Morgan Live" host, in his traditionally blunt fashion.
Clinton's answer is equally direct:
"You'll have to ask her that."
Knowing that his guest is at least qualified to speak about her own ambitions, he later redirects his line of questioning.
"Have you ever thought of running for high office," comes his inquiry.
Dealing with a particularly familiar topic, the woman who spent the breadth of her teenage years living in the White House is ready:
"Well Piers, people have been asking me that question for as long as I can remember," she begins, before Morgan presses for a legitimate response.
"What's the truthful answer," he pleads.
Again, Chelsea Clinton is prepared:
"I'm deeply grateful for my life now, I love my life, I love being able to do this work," she says. "I'm grateful that I live in a city and a state and a country where..."
Again, Morgan jumps in:
"This is a brilliant politician's answer," he notes. "This is why you'd be so perfect – you managed to talk for an entire minute without referring remotely to either yes or no."
