Debating the "N" Word and the "F" Word with Charles Blow, Don Lemon, and Noah Michelson

On the heels of Alec Baldwin's latest paparazzi run-in, during which the actor and television host is accused of using a gay slur, on Tuesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited a trio of men to discuss the use of inflammatory words, the appropriateness of specific terms within society, and any stigmas carried by particular terms.

"Let's get rid of all the words that hurt people's feelings, we still have to deal with the issues that hurt people's lives, the things that are kind of below the surface," said Charles Blow, an op-ed columnist for "The New York Times." "As a writer, I loathe cliches, but if there were ever a tip of a iceberg, this is just the tip, of an iceberg."

Discussing both Baldwin's alleged use of the "F-Word," and the recent attention given to the "N-word" as it's appeared multiple times within the context of professional sports, Don Lemon looked to break the matter down into entirely simplistic terms:

"Sometimes it's just right there, it's just that simple, like your grandmother would say 'don't use the word, boy. Don't do it in public, don't do it in the workplace,'" explained the CNN Newsroom host. "It's just that simple. After that, then you look for the deeper meaning."

Editor of The Huffington Post's "Gay Voices" section, Noah Michelson said he could easily forgive Baldwin, but hoped the actor might offer a more sincere apology for his flippant comment:

"I don't think he's homophobic, I don't think he's a bad guy," noted the man who recently penned this blog entry for HuffPost. "He's done great stuff for the gay community."

So what if People use the F ucking word N igger. It is meaningless if the person hearing them does not give them meaning.

Do not use the term "white boy", Its worse than the so called "N" word. You bigot. Just because you hate yourself for being white don't drag the rest of us in it.

I am 48yrs old and we were brought up knowing that using the N word, or calling someone a lesbian, gay or qu–r was just not nice.Thank you Mom and Dad for teaching us good manners. Thats whats wrong with people now, they are not taught values, manners, or respect for another human being.

Re your segment on using the F Word and the N Word.
"Even a dog knows when a person stumbles over him by accident and when he is being kicked." Enough said.

It seems as though Gays & People of Colour are well balanced, they have a chip on both shoulders. Get over yourself, you are what/who you are. By your reactions you indicate that you are not happy with the person that you, so whose problem is that?

I have been called worse and I'm still alive, well and happy. People like you make me sick – find a real cause to fight for!!!!
