As part of an evening which saw temperatures drop to alarmingly low levels across the country, on Monday evening Piers Morgan welcomed Ted Rowlands and Stephanie Elam, a pair of CNN reporters weathering the elements in Chicago and Minnesota respectively.
"It is horrible. Painful is what it is. When you're hot, you're uncomfortable. When you're cold, it actually hurts," described Rowlands, while he battled temperatures in the negative single digits. "My face right now, hurts a little bit ... It's ugly out here. Be happy where you are."
Having to first unbutton the top of her parka, and then remove her neoprene ski mask before speaking, Elam described what it feels like to report amidst temperatures listed at negative 13:
"The main point here Piers, it is so cold that I am trying to protect every little phalange, and every little hair that I can, it is just so painfully cold," she said, before offering a prop. "This bottle of water we put out, and in less than a half an hour, frozen."
Fearing legal repercussions, Morgan quickly dismissed both of his frigid guests:
"I think we better wrap up both these interviews, because the pair of you look like your literally about to freeze to death, so I'm taking an executive decision to release you, before I'm accused of cruelty."
