Barry Gibb on Justin Bieber: "Heading for a brick wall"

Coming up this evening at 9, "Piers Morgan Live" rolls out the red carpet for a musical icon and fellow Brit, as Barry Gibb joins the program in a face to face, primetime interview.

The lone surviving member of the famed Bee Gees pop group, Gibb and his brothers spent much of their lives battling the glare of the public spotlight. While current entertainment phenom Justin Bieber weathers a series of storms stemming from his own incidents, Morgan solicits Gibb's reaction:

"Well, what I see with Justin Bieber is sort of what I see with Andy, you know," said Gibb, referencing his youngest brother, a non-Bee Gee who charted three number one singles in the U.S. before passing away shortly after his 30th birthday and following years of drug and alcohol abuse. "You're heading for a brick wall. And that's a shame, because this is a great talent. This kid's got great gifts, you know ... I just think it's time to grow up. It's time to grow up and - and be what - all these young girls love you, be a good example."

More than a decade since the Bee Gee's released their final new album as a full group, Gibb notes that Bieber now faces the same problems that have plagued many successful entertainers: hangers on, yes-men, and mooches:

"You have a lot of people around you, that just want to have a party, you know, and live off what it is that you're getting attention for," he tells Piers Morgan. "And, uh, I think that's the problem. It's always the problem."

I am surprised that Barry is telling this young man to grow up at only 19.
