Roman Polanski's victim on accusations leveled at Woody Allen: "Everybody should pull back and not make this such a public thing"

Amidst the aftermath following Dylan Farrow's accusatory open letter in "The New York Times", during which the adopted daughter of Woody Allen and Mia Farrow alleges sexual abuse at the hands of the entertainment icon, on Tuesday evening Piers Morgan invited Samantha Geimer to share her perspective and insight.

Having been molested herself, by film director Roman Polanski, Geimer finds herself in a unique position to comment on the sex scandal that has resurfaced to pace the news cycle.

In 1977, following the accusations that Geimer leveled at her abuser, it was the elder Farrow who came to Polanski's defense, writing a letter on the director's behalf. Years later, Geimer appreciates the irony, but holds no ill will:

"I have no hard feelings against any of his famous friends, who wrote those letters, couldn't believe what he did, and were standing up for someone they cared about," Tuesday's guest told the "Piers Morgan Live" host. "I understood that at 14, I understand that now."

However, more than a quarter century since her own trauma, Geimer would like to see the accusatory mud-slinging and emphatic finger-pointing dialed down when it surrounds allegations ripe with unknowns:

"For her [Mia] to say the Hollywood Foreign Press is doing a disservice to all victims of assault," questioned Geimer, referring to Farrow. "It's pretty ironic. I think maybe everybody should pull back and not make this such a public thing. There's no resolution to it. Let's stop calling everyone names for working with him or for having an opinion about it. The rhetoric is way too toned up."
