Duke Porn Star "Belle Knox": "[To] have that sexual autonomy, it is so incredibly freeing"

Waiting tables at your neighborhood Applebee's.

Logging a few barrista shifts at the campus coffee shop.

Even spending Friday night babysitting a couple of your professor's rug-rats.

These, are some of the typical jobs held by many college students. Performing hardcore sex acts on camera for money? Less common. But this is the part time profession selected by "Belle Knox," a Duke University freshman using porn as a way to offset her robust tuition costs.

After being outed by a classmate, "Knox" opted to publicly reveal her identity with an article titled "I'm the Duke University Freshman Porn Star And For The First Time I'm Telling The Story In My Words," which she wrote for xoJane.com. Joining "Piers Morgan Live" exclusively Thursday evening, she spoke of being empowered by her choice to join the adult film industry:

"We are in a society where we are so repressed, every single day. We’re told that sex is bad. We’re told not to have sex. We’re told not to show our bodies, and that’s really true for women," she explained while seated directly across from Morgan in his LA studio. "To be in porn and to be able to be naked and to be able to be free and have that sexual autonomy, it is so incredibly freeing."

A women's studies major, Knox noted that the cost of attending Duke exceeds 60 thousand dollars annually. Turning to porn is significantly more profitable than traditional clock-punching, and it requires much less of her personal time. And those that are mouthing off about her work, are often times the same people who are logging in to support it:

"I think eighty percent of the world's traffic on the internet is pornography. And I think that probably every single person at some point in their life has watched pornography," said Knox. "So I think it’s extremely hypocritical that the same society that consumes me is also condemning me."

If you're curious as to how she chose her adult film name, she explains that right here.

    If that is what that Duke freshman has to do to help pay her incredibly expensive tuition and fee expenses, and it is not illegal, then more strength and perseverance be with her. True, it may be "politically correct" not to loudly proclaim her work to everyone, but to be honest and not ashamed about that work should not be a problem for anyone to deal with. (What exactly does Duke University do, or justify requiring, to have such an expensive educational "tab"?)

      To rebuttal @ duff crary. "What exactly does Duke University do, or justify requiring, to have such an expensive educational "tab"?" Well for one its one of the top school in North Carolina. Top school on the Eastern Coast. as well as TOP 20 UNIVERSITIES IN THE COUNTRY... If you want top of the line education you best be ready to shell top of the line money.
      I also believe she is .... let me retract that. I believe she has made a very ignorant mistake in doing thing... Why pay $42k a year, when you could go to NC State or UNCC; pay a lot less and still have the same educated values equal to someone (let's say MIT) who came out of MIT. Sure you might be a top look during an application process but as soon as a background check is called into order.. You are screwed. 80-90% screwed for a professional job.
      Also she is a load of crap, I've done some research on this girl. Not only did she have enough to pay for school (both parents have middle-high paying jobs) she also had enough scholarships/grant to cover 60% of her tuition. Which might explain why both of her parents will not come onto the scene as well as the school.

      Of COURSE she could! However, this is not about her family like she claims. It's about her. She is self centered and lacking in morals (thats feminism for you) and she did it for herself.

      She is a shallow, selfish idiot. Sadly, I am so very used to this out of American women of my generation. Do something stupid, then blame the first person who finds out for ANYONE finding out. Please. Feminism, you have destroyed my generation.

    She works so hard to get into the a top university in the country. Her revelation of the side job will change her entire career ahead of her. She is trying to stand strong to justify herself during this firestorm. But I am sure that she did not realize this could happen when she signed on to do this. Anyway, there is no reason why she has to blame Duke for not giving all the scholarship that she needs.

    It's her money to waste, and she's not putting herself in debt to earn a degree that will not qualify her to actually do anything, but millions of kids are.

    Has anyone considered her major? Sociology and Women's Studies. I may be way off but some things are not adding up: 1) Father is a doctor and could pay tuition 2) Apparently, she had a free ride to other good schools 3) She's obviously intelligent – would she really botch her future so carelessly?

    Perhaps this is a big experiment – part of her cirriculum, an attempt to expose what would happen to a modern day Hester? Oh, how rich it would be – twitter, Facebook, an interview with CNN, families, potential employers, Duke...on and on.

    I'm just sayin.

    This, my friends, is an example of a strange form of liberalism. She claims that there is a political agenda when people say there is something wrong with that industry but what she doesn't get is that there is. She "seems" to be for woman's rights, but what she doesn't understand is that no matter what she says, she really has no point of going to school anymore. Plain and simple. No job is going to take her after finding this story except the industry she already used to pay for college. Quite plain and simple, if she wants to be in that kind of industry stay with it. She's promoting her actions as if we should serve a silver platter to her and put her in historical books for fighting for the rights of women to stoop low to pay for college. Btw, I also read that her parents were able to pay for college. Another cry for publicity if you ask me.

      Please stop expecting people to feel pity for this so called 'vulnerable' child. It was her own fault that she did this and it was her fault for really believing that people weren't going to find out in college. It's the internet, people are going to find out and she should know that in today's world, there are people with fervent beliefs who react accordingly to incidents. On top of that, she acts with dignity in what she's doing. She did this to herself and she will have to face the consequences of her actions, but now that her face is out there, people are going to exploit her even more than Piers Morgan has.

    In the future, her success will be hailed as a milestone in women's rights. There was a time, and not so very long ago, when single mothers and unmarried women who were known not to be virgins were thought of as "fallen women" who had been "ruined" and were unemployable. In fact, there are big parts of the world where this is still true. I predict Belle Knox will be hailed as a heroine. She will also be a powerful person to be reckoned with once her education is complete.

      If she was truly in financial need she could get loans, grants, scholarships, etc. etc. but instead she decided to ruin her life by delving into this industry. Yup a true 'hero' of women's rights if you ask liberals. Liberals are the downfall of America. We are on the path to a socialist immoral society with mass government surveillance and oppression...pretty much the Soviet Union with a progressive twist of immorality added.

    " Liberals are the downfall of America."

    It was those damn liberals who put and end to child labor, promoted 40-hour work weeks, ended slavery, got women and minorities the right to vote, ended lynchings and Jim Crow laws, supported a minimum wage, wrote the Pledge of Allegiance and "America the Beautiful," integrated schools, ended the Vietnam War, balanced the federal budget, and created nationalized healthcare, and pushed for enforcement of First Amendment rights for everyone. Yes, they are the downfall of America.

    American society has failed if the best educated of our youth is resorting to facial abuse for money,and her classmates are watching for pleasure. What a fall for a once dignified society.We are so in love with the concept of freedom that we dont challenge the things that degrade and dishonor us. While her choice is a poor one we as a country are making that choice with her by watching.

      First Libertarian, that is not the definition of wrong, that is your definition and a very narrow one at that. Here are some better ones.

      adjective: wrong

      1. not correct or true.

      2. unjust, dishonest, or immoral.
      synonyms: illegal, unlawful, illicit, criminal, dishonest, dishonorable, corrupt; More
      unethical, immoral, bad, wicked, sinful, iniquitous, nefarious, blameworthy, reprehensible;

      adverb: wrong

      1. in an unsuitable or undesirable manner or direction.

      noun: wrong; plural noun: wrongs

      1. an unjust, dishonest, or immoral action.
      synonyms: misdeed, offense, injury, crime, transgression, violation, peccadillo, sin; More
      injustice, outrage, atrocity;
      tort;

      verb: wrong; 3rd person present: wrongs; past tense: wronged; past participle: wronged; gerund or present participle: wronging

      1. act unjustly or dishonestly toward (someone).

      So to answer your question I would say, "What about her family and their honor"? Is this what every father dreams of for their daughter to do and become? Is this something they can be proud of and cherish for a lifetime?

      You want to know who she's harmed as a result of her actions? How about her father for starters. An Army Doctor that just got back from a war zone and found out. A man saving our soldiers' lives as well as Afghanistan's citizens in a battle zone. A Hero. A man of integrity. He comes home to a spoiled brat that's smearing his good name in public worldwide.

      When all is said and done, all we have is our integrity. This selfish young woman has destroyed what has taken her father a life time to build. What say all you "free thinkers" now????

    Doesn't surprise me very much. It echoes the mind of the vast majority of college girls in this nation. A backwards view of what feminism is and stands for, as well as a victim mentality that gives them the mental right to do what they want without thought of the consequences. Enjoy your time Miss Belle. When you are worn and have a slew of mental issues following this "career", you will be too disgraced and challenged to find another line of work.
