If NAFTA was the North American FAIR trade agreement, it would be good. FREE trade has killed or economy. I am very impressed with Donald Trumps views on the show despite that I have never liked his show. HE is what this country needs NOW!

If you by any replacement parts for your automobile or truck don't buy from china, recently I purchased fuel pump assembly, transmission, clutch plates etc. After 6 month fuel pump failed, clutch plate broke, transmission doesn't shift into over drive. Never had so many problems, switched to US manufacture problems gone. Buy American!!
Donald Trump doesn't mention the huge dept that U.S.A. owes China. Also the wages that China pays it's workers. What stocks does Donald own? American companies have sent their jobs to China and other places to improve their bottom line as this controls the stock price. America is now competing in a world market, Donald had better get used to this fact.

Please ask Trump how many small businesses he's stiffed as he's plowed through one bankruptcy after another. And ask him why he feels it necessary to ruin the coast of Menie Scotland. Ask him if he thinks he would have had any success if he hadn't been set up by his father. Ask him why his products, like Trump Soho, etc. are so cheaply made. Ask him if he feels responsible for the death of the construction worker at Trump Soho (Trump was rushing them to finish in order to save money). Ask him if it makes him feel good about himself when he bullies people. And ask yourself CNN why you are bothering to interview Trump who does nothing for anyone and contributes nothing to better our society.

Hi Ivanka, I agree with you, and Donald Trump is just a money grubbing jerk who really has nothing intelligent to say. He has failed marriages, failed corporations, declared bankruptcy (which I am sure he got off easy), and is not the voice of America. He always looks for the next challenge and has his money to back him up-but who cares?? I propose that he do something with his money to help others, instead of always make himself look better in the public eye. I would never vote him in for president.

I can't see Donald Trump winning the presidency. He has filed too many bankrupcies and have had too many failed marriages for me to even conceive of throwing my vote his way. Ii also can't even see how he could possibly relate to the working class of this country who are being devalued more and more every year by big corporations and banks.

What does Trumpie's bombastic China bashing make of the fact that China completely supports the US economy and its people's lifestyle by buying all those US Treasuries? The deteriorating US Dollar robs them as much as the high Yuan robs the US. Without China, the US is a 3rd World country.
Sir: The Chinese are not interested as much in the money as they are in the resources the can acquire. The odd thing about this whole money mess is that the they can acquire it with cultivating resources and the turn around and use it to obtain resources to another's detriment. There may be a viable solution for this, but the money system we now have will have to be modified some. Perhaps at least using two forms: one for resources and another for cultivation processes. Doing this with records would put a strong handle on those pulling ponzi schemes, and the likes.

Has Donald Trump ever been to China and seen the way most Chinese people live? I lived in Shanghai from 2004 to last year and there is a big difference between the Chinese people and the Chinese government. It's a damn good thing Mr. Trump isn't the president. The Chinese middle class are now living better than the American Middle Class. Like you, I live in China between 1 – 2 months a year. You must have had special permission as China only allows for 60 days maximum per entry on a multi entry visa.
I was working in China for 6 years. There's more than one type of visa. However the Chinese middle class are living, the majority of Chinese people are in much worse shape than the majority of Americans. Being in China one or two months a year is more than most people, but in order to truly experience and begin to understand a place, it takes years and years and years.

Does Mr. Trump really understand China? He does not seem to even understand capitalism. Chinese workers work long hours for a fraction of the Americans' average salary, like American workers 100 years ago. Are the Americans ready to compete?
Most Chinese kids study home work into the midnight. 200-300 million Chinese study and speak English. Few, if any, see America as a threat but as an opportunities. They want America to be strong, stable, and self-confident. It was those Wall Street people, perhaps like Mr. Trump himself, who actually manipulated the system for their own benefit. And that led to the 2008 financial crisis. Do we trust them to lead America, as Trump argued?!

Hello Piers - Donald Trump is absolutely right when he talks about the Chinese. They not only view the US as weak in financial terms, but they are expanding their Military-Industrial complex faster than ever before. They have developed a fifth generation fighter jet, and they are hitting military websites daily with various types of attacks... They should DEFINITELY be considered a serious threat, both financially and militarily.
I have a non profit Counties Creating Consensus , recently formed and in incubation period. The mission is to deal with county government and education. As director and researcher for topics of a televised program I have one very important question dealing with reserve currency and your remarks of China.
Do you believe that as a country, our balance sheet matters to the IMF and the world, and this is why the land preservation programs exist along with the value of the healthcare must be on USA's balance sheet?Especiallly as our deficit rises and question of our currency value becomes more evident?

Yes, it is a HUGE PROBLEM – if you call pretty much any customer service, for any reason, people from other country answer, they can not do anything anyway, they can not assist properly, they can not call a supervisor, you can not understand their English... Donald Trump needs to stop the China bashing. It's shortsighted and he's ignoring facts; if the goods weren't produced in China, they'd be produced in Vietnam, India, the Philippines, etc.

I am a liberal democrat and have never voted for a republican. I ask him to run for presidency under any party and he has got my vote. I agree with his views on China and his plans 100%. I live in Arkansas, watched Bill Clinton emerge as the governor of our state to become an outstanding president and then watched in disgust and horror as George Bush led us down the path to near destruction. I consider myself a Democrat as does my wife, but we would vote for Donald Trump in a heartbeat because he's tough and a businessman to boot. My question has two parts: how would Mr. Trump bring our multi-trillion-dollar budget deficit under control and how would he govern, given the fact that both parties are so polarized and have lost the ability to reach a consensus in regard to passing most legislation?

As far as the trade problems with China, Mr Trump makes it sound like the solution is so simple that putting a 25% tax on their product will bring them to the table, then how come so many US Presidents could not do this ? Easy to talk but when you become the President, the same simple solution is complicated. Any comment from Mr Trump.

Question for Mr. Trump. I am Australian and have been living in China and other parts of Asia for 20 years now. Personally, I would love to see a stronger negotiator that would lead efforts to reposition the relationships both economically and politically with China and India, not to mention a few others. I totally agree with some of what Mr. Trump has said. To be frank, I have been saying for many years the west is playing checkers while China have been playing chess. However, do you really believe the US is really in a position to negotiate heavily with China at this time. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago, I absolutely believe the US would have been in a better position to do so. However, with current debt to earnings ratio earnings in the US, China buying up government debt, the US investments in China that will be at risk. I just think that the US has so many other considerations including security, political leverage and horse trading on so many issues, it seems the US, just like China buys friends, look at Pakistan and South Korea as an example that economic interests are a distant second or third to other issues. Has the genie been unleashed for too long? Has the US so many diverging interests that it will never be able to focus predominantly on economics? Do you really believe it is as simple as setting a 25% import tax? Dont you think the WTO would nail you to the wall? Don’t you think China would be in a position to retaliate and would hurt the US equally, if not more?

Dear Mr.. President,
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings – Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered – Auto Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage – Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!!
P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes.
Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

They also happen to protect oil prices from spiking by making sure the area doesn't turn into a war zone. @ Maria... Are you serious? Not sure what you are basing your information on, but I can say that your statements are very off. You may be talking about rural peasants that may not be able to afford to educate their children such as in Guizhou or Henan, but not in the first or second tier cities such as Beijing, Tianjiin, or even Chongqing. Generally, a family in China with any sort of reasonable means places a very high importance on education. It is their way out of poverty. Even for their parents… If the kids get educated and get good jobs, there is a strong belief and tradition, until now, their children will take care of them. Of course for those with serious means, education is one of the highest priorities.
You are also off a little. All of China has focused on educating their young. Actually, the Chinese children are supporting our Universities and Private High Schools across the US as they cannot attend regular high schools due to their visas. In remote rural areas, the education is still there, but not as good and only half day so they can work in the fields. China pays for the education of all children in china.
I don’t think I am off. I am actually part of a group private individuals that donate time and money to build and improve schools in China. I also sponsor several kids for education. I regularly travel in Yunnan, Sichuan, Hunan and live and do business in Beijing, Shanghai and most of the first and second tier cities in China. I wasnt trying to go into detail regarding the education system in China as I was just replying to Maria's comments that were way off. However, in generally I agree with you. However, there are many non registered children in China without a Hukou not to mention migrant workers who don’t send their kids to school. Also, some families do choose who to educate sometimes in their family in some of the poorest parts of China. Again, I am not being negative about China's education system. It has problems, but then, so do many other countries. However, the leaps that universal education has made in China is truly amazing. Just not perfect and kids still fall through the cracks.
One biggest difference between China and the US in education is that it takes an American president to make sure that no kids are left behind, while it is Chinese parents who make sure their children is serious with academics.
I have been to China several times. My son is a Chinese major and has spent a lot of time there as well. I agree with your comments.

Donald T. speaks about his kids being educated at the best schools, as if that is the reason why they are successful.. they are successful because they like him grew up in a father's business. It would not have mattered where they went to school (the best schools or not). I prefer to think of Oprah or someone like her as unique, because she did not walk into a family business and she did not attend a so called (prestigious) school. Oprah graduated from Tennessee State Univ. ( a state /historically black college). I have nothing against prestigious schools but they are not the only ones who can succeed in business. Heck some business owners didn't go to college at all.

Piers has been having great guests, but is very rude with his interruptions. He asks questions, but doesn't let the guest answer fully. Last night's show (with Twins) he interrupted constantly. Donald Trump tonight kept talking through the interruptions to finish his answer. More guests should do that.

The democrats and republicans have turned a blind eye towards a level playing field. I am the CEO of a technology company and there is not a single insentive for me to hire americans. And yet programmers at 20 cents on the dollar are availalbe to me from China and India. Talk about a threat to our national security as we ship more and more of our IP overseas and all politicians and wall street only see the impact to the bottom line for the next quarter. No one seems to be concerned about the future decades.

I'm 70 years young and live in Houston, and lived in New York, San Francisco, Hollywood, Atlanta, Nashville and Pittsburgh (Steelers beat themselves in Super Bowl!). You have so much intelligence, yet your ego plays such a major role in your life, and I understand re: Wharton, etc. I continue to teach part time at University of Houston. The Nelson family is prominent in American history, however, 2 years ago I met a person from China who has lived here for 30 years, and we are producing a USA-China talk show here in Houston in an attempt to bridge a cultural gap, not political. It is broadcast in Southwest Texas and in China. We are finding that, as humans, we really are a lot alike. Sometimes the political arena gets in the way . Regan established a wonderful relationship with Gorby (the evil empire), so any obstacle can be overcome. THINK BIG is great, but many of us do not start out in life with your benefits. I would welcome you to visit one of my ESL classes in Houston, and it would be a pleasure to interview you. Our budget is small, so we cannot expense your trip, but perhaps you will visit Houston. I wonder if Mr. Trump asks where all of his products installed in his hotels come from... the public area carpet, the lighting, the furniture... most were probably all made in CHINA!!! I agree that we should focus on US manufacturing and that China is manipulating their currency and making it more difficult for US companies to compete... but the bottom line is that US companies want to spend the least they can, and so they go for products from China to save money. Hopefully Mr. Trump will mandate that his hotels must have their items made in the US. It's a start that perhaps other companies will follow suit.
I liked the live Donald Trump interview. HOWEVER, you can have a live interview without a LIVE audience. The clapping by the audience made it difficult to hear Piers and Donald sometimes. Can you ask the audience not to clap?
While I agree with most of what Mr. Trump says I think his public comments of dislike for the Chinese and China should be kept low key. Afterall, if they are so vicious, and have proven so in previous wars, the nation can call in the billions of dollars loaned to this country. Who will pay them off then? Money loaned because our stupid government can not and is too stupid to balance a budget and is only interested in power by fighting a war which will never end and has no winner. We have already paid a big price in loss of lives, bad economy, affected by the senseless war. Yet, the US is giving out money to all these middle eastern countries and playing Santa while its own are ruled by Scrooge. There is simply no balance here. Any person with common sense can see what is going on. Our government has none.
