Is it true that under Bush the debt ceiling was raised 10 times?

And is it true that the spending below (provided by the Associated Press) is the reason for potential default on USA payments?

    BIGGEST CONTRIBUTORS TO CURRENT DEBT
(provided by the Roswell Daily Record)

    the associated press:

The biggest contributors to the nearly $9 trillion increase over a decade were:

•2001 and 2003 tax cuts under President George W. Bush: $1.6 trillion.

•Additional interest costs: $1.4 trillion. – 'Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: $1.3 trillion.

•Economic stimulus package under Obama: $800 billion.

•2010 tax cuts, a compromise by Obama and Republicans that extended jobless benefits and cut payroll taxes: $400 billion.

•2003 creation of Medicare's prescription drug benefit: $300 billion.

•2008 financial industry bailout: $200 billion.

•Hundreds of billions less in revenue than expected since the Great Recession began in December 2007,

•Other spending increases in domestic, farm and defense programs, adding lesser amounts.

Keeping in mind that $1,000 billion = $1 trillion,

    OBAMA took office 1/20/2009 and

BUSH was in office the prior 8 years,

Who would you say is the biggest spender?

No one seems to care about the truth anymore.

    Respectfully,

    Karon Petty

Actually the debt ceiling under Bush was raised 7 times. It wasn't raised the 1st year because he inherited a surplus. It has been raised 10 times to date under both Bush and Obama. The rest of your information is pretty accurate.

You are so right, Piers, about the C. Anthony trial. How disgusting that some people follow news stories purely for their entertainment value. How much lower can we possibly go?

I was a bit disturbed with Piers and the Brit from Vanity Fair lauding Rupert......give me a break....does he work for Fox or CNN? He as very quick to jump on Nancy Grace....but please don't say anything bad about my Rupert.....and the last thing we need is a Saudi Prince telling Amercans what to do about the debt crisis.......I don't need to see pictures of Rupert dining with the prince......I get it.....they both have a lot of money.

I think that his interview approach varies depending on who he is interviewing. Sometimes he seems to fawn over the guest , other times he is rude , aggressive, and talks over them. I will not bother to watch him in the future.

The tea party is wreaking havoc with its inexperienced and frankly what appears to be inept members. They embraced the tea party to win back seats but in doing so are disrupting the entire equillibrium of the US and world money markets and have no control of their own party. This is just a taste of what we are in for if Palin or Bachman were to head anything in Washington, clueless just clueless.

There are many ordinary Americans who have been working to save money in their Retirement account and in accounts for their spouce and their children. Most of this has been intelligently invested thru thier own research or that of their financial advisors. These people have been losing a great deal of money this past week and have a opportunity to lose up to one third of their entire investment if this debt problem goes haywire. Now us Americans are paying the salary, health insurance, food and gas bills for these same people in Congress and Senate that are now slowly bleeding our families accounts. Please have some humility and at least some pity for us instead of blind pride in your inadequate ideas of helping us. I think we are working hard and are not afraid to take risks to improve our families livlihood, but this is theivery to be setting us up for failure and draining our investment accounts for selfish pride. I am sorry that it has come to this that I haave to say this.

    Dear Piers,

It sickens me to see those two Tea Party "patriots" mouthing off on your show. These are the very people—stupid, uninformed, bullying closet racists who BEGAN the entire "debt" fiasco with their anti-poor, anti-government agenda. Put the blame where it belongs: on them and their followers, people who think that firing government employees and closing down the EPA, and other agencies that at least TRY to curb the industrial polluters, will create jobs. To borrow a phrase, this is nonsense on stilts. And it's time America knew it.

I LOVE ANDERSON COOPER!!!!!!!! Can't you dump Morgan and give more time to Anderson? Any guest that would think of going on Piers Morgan is a fool. Everything Piers touches turns to sour milk. CNN is a credible organization and has no business employing a muckraker like Morgan. He shames the legacy of Larry King. What dirt does Morgan have on Turner? I can only wonder.

Pierce what else can you ask your guest beside what they think of President Obama? We know what you think of Donald Trump and anyone else that bash the president. Maybe you will report for Fox. For you to get paid for what you do as a reporter is a disgrace. For your information President Obama is a very smart man and is during a great job. Maybe Donald will hire you so he can fire you.

    Dear Piers.

You have a very interesting one hour show with interviews of different people.
What bugs me, is your constant silly laughter you perform almost after every answer from your
interviewed person. Try to stop it, it is unbecomingto you.

    Piers,
Watched your interview with former Gov. Mark Sanford. Program was totally about his comeback from adultery, rebuilding of HIS life with his boys and his failure as a husband. Nothing was explored as to the devastation of his wife's life as a result of his actions. Seems like he wants to take blame for failure of his marriage but does not want to give up his new love for the sake of his children and the wife of his youth. How was his wife suppose to rebuild her life? Maybe you should have a program with Mrs. Sanford and have her express how women move on after a long term marriage when the husband fails.

Piers – Fascinating interview with Christine O'Donnell. If she ever will pick up your challenge of another live interview, remind her of her comments on your show (not in the book, that she was happy to promote all the way through the interview) where she was not under the control of advisers but spoke her own mind! Who was the shadowy character blocking the camera?

Piers Morgan seems to be encouraging his guests make dispariging remarks about President Obama. Jack and Suzie Welch commented on Romney singing "America the Beautiful" versus our Prez singing the Al Green song. Did the two idiots know that Al Green WAS IN THE AUDIENCE hence Obama sang one line of that song? I mean we all know that Suzie couldn't have fallen for baldie for his looks right? Also, WHY did Piers go to commercial break the minute Seal spoke glowingly about Obama. Hmmmmm!
