READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman was interviewed last week by Piers Morgan, and part of the sit-down airs tonight (with more tomorrow). Would he ever run as Mitt Romney's running mate? "I can't imagine it at all," he joked. But how about Rep. Michele Bachmann?
"If you love this country, you serve her," said Huntsman. "If you're in a position to better the country, to bring whatever background you have to bear, whatever experiences to use in fine-tuning our future, I'll be the first person to sign up." Still, Huntsman acknowledged this was a hypothetical situation, and that his campaign is to win the presidential nomination. Here's why:
"I think we've got the background. I think we have the temperament. I think we're right on the issues, and I think we're at the center right of the political scale, which is exactly where this country is," Huntsman told Piers Morgan.
Watch more of the interview tonight and tomorrow. Also tonight at 9pmET – the latest, live, on the situation in Libya.

What a nightmare question: Michelle Bachmann in the Oval Office! And Huntsman would opt for her V.P. ... The whole scenario is screwey!!!
Rats! He sounded so rational and intelligent, too.
Huh? Maybe he thinks she'll have a breakdown and he'd be able to take over. It's that or he thinks he could keep her from taking the country down the road to facism...
It's too bad Huntsman doesn't have a chance. He's sane, he's rational, he believes in science and he's not in the bag to big money or the the religious right nor is he an ideologue. Just means the nutters who've taken over my old party will never vote for him in the primaries.
He is not in big money perhaps with the "religious right" ... but it kind of sounded to me that he DID believe that corporations should get all the breaks ... no taxing the rich ... and, generally, trickle down economics ... like Reagan. What about health care? He sure does not like universal health care ... Likes private sector health care. These private health care companies are in it for the profit, not for the patient. So, in conclusion, not my man for president.
Huntsman just blew his credibility. I thought there was actually a decent GOP candidate that was intelligent and moderate and WHA?????? Unless he thinks he could be like a Cheney VP and run the prez?
Are you guys serious about this question ? What if Michelle Bachmann is having one of those freaky days? I understand some people are on drugs but really can all the Republicans be that crazy?
Whats gone wrong in America ? We are over fed but has our brains exploded some where from the twilight zone to reality ?
Huntsman needs to re-evaluate his own relevance and his understanding of politics. The country hasn't been anywhere near "center" on politics for years. The last two years in Congress have seen to that, the recent debt debacle being the final nail. The "center right" he speaks of has drifted to the far right, and the rest of the center has drifted left. The country's too polarized for a viable third option, but he still champions it like the solution everybody's looking for.
His campaign right now has all the efficacy of a business trying to sell horse carriages to LA commuters. His target market is gone.
Image our political system as like a Hotel with one elevator that ran right up the center of the building. On each floor (economic level), you can find rooms (candidate) that either sit down the hallway to the left (liberal party) or down the hallway to the right (conservative party).
Selecting a candidate based on solely on whether they sit to the left or to the right, is like booking a room without concern over what floor you're on.
Top floor candidates represent the 1% of the country that can afford a penthouse suite. Unless you are in that group, don't expect to get a room.
What floor do you think Huntsman sits on?
What about Romney? (I'll bet you $10,000 it ain't the 1st floor!) or Gingrich, with his $500,000 line of credit at Tiffany's? ANY Republican candidate? What about Obama? What floor do you think he represents? Look at who he taps to fill his team of economic advisers...Wall Street barons, each
Think outside the left/right two party game. It's a NEW game, and there's an up/down element that those on the top floor don't want you to talk about...
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is a strong, independent, intelligent, attractive, articulate and accomplished conservative woman. This terrifies the liberals who prefer that their women be either"left wing kooks" (burning bras, smoking dope, practicing free love, singing folk songs, etc.) or remaining barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen (actually Michelle has spent some time barefoot, pegnant and in the kitchen as evidenced by her 5 beautiful children). I believe that Jon Huntsman is a good man, but he would be much too intimidated by Michele to be her running mate.
Terror isn't the emotion involved among sane people– it's high hilarity. Bachmann's defenders remind me of Creationists: you know they're sincere, but you can't understand how they can hold so passionately onto views that are so far removed from reality.
I guess it's like kids' belief in Santa Claus, except that you know kids will eventually grow up to know better, and Bachmann's supporters never will.
I like the explanation for the tea party not believing in evolution: They have not gone through the process as yet!
China has become an environmental nightmare.
Bruce – you would think the Republicans would understand the vital importance of protecting our environment after watching the summer olympics in China! Republicans want to give business free rein to pollute our environment just to make a buck.
Just as America was at a similar point in its development– stripped forests, mountains of mining waste, zero concern for air or water pollution, to the point of acid rain and rivers catching on fire. It wasn't until the 1970s that we began acting in a responsible manner. China's goals right now are economic growth, developing its physical infrastructure and raising the living standards of its people, identical to our goals in the 19th and early 20th century. As China becomes wealthier, it will turn its attention to cleaning up its act, just as America did. It's part of growing up as a country.
Just watched most of the Huntsman interview. Boy does Barack Obama have him beat! No comparison! Of course, as a Republican, he is downright genius in comparison to the rest of the group.
Thanks, Mr. Morgan, for showing us that Barack Obama still shines compared to all of these "tough" talking inividuals!!!
Oh, question: Gov. Huntsman claims most of America is right of center ... how can that be, most of us just cannot afford to be!!!
One minute he's expressing grave concerns about extremism within the GOP, the next minute he's proposing a partnership with extremism personified.
Talk about selling your soul to garner the lunatic tea party vote ...
Of all the Republicans running for president, I could have supported Huntsman. But saying he would take Bachman as a vp just put him in the same category as McCain naming Palin. Go Barak Obama!
