Clips From Last Night: Santorum on gay marriage; De La Hoya on easiest fight ever
Piers Morgan interviewed 2012 GOP candidate Rick Santorum last night, and a heated discussion about gay marriage ensued. "The Catholic church teaches that homosexuality is a sin, I'm a Catholic and I subscribe to the Catholic church's teaching," Santorum said. "But that's not relevant from the standpoint of how I view these issues from a public policy point of view." Here's more of the gay marriage discussion last night.
Also on the show was Oscar De La Hoya, who talked about his easiest fight ever:
Said De La Hoya, about a bar fight: "He swings at me, I duck under, he falls face first and knocks himself out. I won that fight without throwing a punch!"

Piers, I assume you have a psychology degree. It's evident in most of your interviews. You may can make someone emotional with your degree, but have you REALLY ever helped anyone with it? NOT! Is this why you called Santorum a bigot? That's not your job! Just do the interview and allow "we the people" to form our own opinions! Thank You!
Noticed you are not promoting the great job Rick did defending his pro-life view. You only twist things, get republicans to llok bad and then run with it.
I believe you did a great job of following up on your questions to get as direct an answer as possible from Rick Santorum. So then WHY did you have such a chatty 'interview' with Scott Walker. Many of his moves have actually cost Wisconsin, rather than saved money and negative ramification as a result of his present policies, especially in the schools, will be felt for many years to come. There is a growing sense of hopelessness in Wisconsin...
I wished you would have asked and required non-pat responses from Scott Walker about his desire to align with the Kochs, the fines Milwaukee has paid as a result of mistakes he made as county executive (in replacing the county paid security team in the courthouse with private rent-a-cops), and his merky departure from college in his senior year with no degree. This man may be okay to talk to as a neighbor or something, but he is incredibly deficient as an elected official, and while I know you need to end on a positive note and 'connect' at several points in the interview, you were FAR too easy on this guy.
Bravo Mr. Santorum for not being fearful to say what you believe. The Catholic church has been a pillar of truth for over 2000 years for one reason....it doesn't change to be more modern. Just because modern culture is perverse doesn't mean the church has to fall in line and be MODERN. Could you imagine where it would be if it had done so? If a gay person can stand proud for their choice in lifestyle and be commended, why is it so wrong for a Catholic man who is strong in his faith can't do the same? It's a very sad world we live in. Being a bigot is not the same as being devout to your religious beliefs. Catholics have been tolerating bigotry against their faith for thousands of years. And we still persevere. I'd rather have men who are strong in their faith, then men who are judging for attentions sake. Piers, you are no Catholic.
A very unfair interview. I do not care for Santorum the politician but the interview boardered on bullying. It's okay for people to be against something and it does not mean that they are phobic. This becomes the new label put on anyone who opposes anothers view, etc. Sad, very sad.
I haven't checked in here for some time since I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are great quality so I guess I will add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂
