Ehud Barak: Obama "is friendly to Israel, especially in security-related issues"
Piers Morgan exclusively interviews Ehud Barak tonight, and the Israeli Defense Minister weighed in on Pres. Barack Obama's Middle East policy. "He is friendly to Israel, especially in security-related issues," he said. "He is also trying, to the best of my judgement, to be even-handed with the Palestinians."
Barak wouldn't comment directly on the 2012 race, but he did refute Rick Perry's statements about the Obama administration today. "I don't think appeasement is an accurate description of the policy of this administration," he said. Watch the full interview tonight at 9pmET/PT – also on the show, Simon Cowell.

Piers ... please, please don't engage Ehud Barak in a conversation pertaining to statements spoken by presidential candidates. This is of no interest to a gentleman who has far greater issues to resolve.
Piers keeps demanding that Barak and Netanyahu make a Sadat like gesture. When Sadat wanted to come to Jerusalem, there was someone there willing to meet hi,m. The Palestinians have refused to meet Netanyahu even if he goes to Ramallah. Piers is displaying enormous ing9norance and naivete.
AKUS ... agreed. I deeply regret Piers's line of questioning. This is not his best interview ... this is seemingly is out of his scope of understanding.
Take Gaza one more step and ask him about Operation Cast Lead. He puts too much emphasis on Hamas. They (Israel) "have to protect their country". With $8.2 million dollars A DAY of US taxpayers money going to Israel- easy. So we are complacent in the deaths of over 1500 Palestinians.
We provide even more aid to the 55 Islamic countries. Islamic countries have eliminated nearly 90% of all minorities in their countries overy the past century. Hence by helping them we were responsible in the elimination of entire nations.
I have some news for you, Susy... People are being killed during a war. As long as the Palestinians are willing the war against Israel to continue it means that they're happy with it's results and are asking for more. If it was not the case they would NEGOTIATE a better deal long ago. They had plenty of opportunities.
Piers lack of knowledge of the history between Israel and the Palestinians is evident in his insistance of a "big gesture" on the part of Israel.
"Gestures" in response to terrorism always result in more terrorism and expectation of more "gestures"...
Get the FACTS Piers before you interview a defence minister. Learn the region history and ALL the concession Israel has made thus far. Get the Palestinian authorities to represent the ENTIRE West bank and the terrorist before you present un realistic questions with baseless information.
WHY HAVE YOU NEVER ASKED THE PALESTINIAN THE UNWILLINGNESS TO RECOGNIZE THE JEWISH STATE?? whom is Israel signing agreement with? Terrorists like Hamas??

We watch your show regularly as many Canadians do and I must say in this world of inflammatory comments my husband and I did not appreciate yours on the fact that some Americans may not like having Canadians as neighbors. I am sure there is not another country in the world who could be a better neighbor to the U.S. than Canada. I dare you to name one!

I think Piers Morgan and many of our other leaders ought to get their Bible out. The people of Israel are God's chosen people. They will always be protected. The land they are having war over right now, was originally part of Israel. In the Bible, it says that one day Israel will get back their land. If I had to guess who's going to win this in the end, I would definitely pick Israel!!!
Actually, Ashley I believe Mr Morgan (like most education Americans) deals in facts as opposed to religious belief. So if you have verifiable evidence about Israel's land you should feel free to reply and educate me. Fact is, Israel has gradually stolen land from the Palestinians, and done so in a Crusading manner. And I doubt your bible defends Operation Cast Lead where unmanned drones murdered 1,500 Men, Women, and Children. Or does YOUR bible choose the life of one ethnicity over another? I hope not Ashley...because thinking like that got us into a great deal of trouble in WWII.
I'll gladly educate you, Scott. For starters, the land in question COULD NOT be stolen from the Palestinians because it NEVER belonged to them. This land was part of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) for at least 600 years until the end of WWI. Then it was ruled by Britan but did not formally belong to any state. When Israel declared independence in 1948 the Arab states attacked it and occupied what we call today West Bank and Gaza. In 1967 the Arabs started another war and lost. As a result, Israel controlled these lands since 1967 repeatedly offering to return them in exchange for peace.
To continue your education, Scott, you may consider that the 'Palestinians' as a people were UNKNOWN TO THE WORLD prior to the late 1960s. You may also consider that people are being killed during ANY war, not only during the war between Palestinians and Israel; that as long as the Palestinians are willing the war to continue it will continue and more Palestinians will be killed; that if the Israelis did not do everything possible to save Palestinian lives 1500 Palestinians would not be killed in the month of the operTion Cat Lead, they would be killed IN A SINGLE DAY.
Why did Piers Morgan spend the first 10 mins of the interview trying to blame the problems of Middle East peace on Obama. Piers may not be aware of this, but the Middle East disputes have existed before Obama was born. Just because Rick Parry wants to make it a campaign issue and blame Obama doesn't mean any reasonable person needs to repeat what he says.
How is such an ignoramus as Morgan given a TV forum. This guy's knowledge of Middle East facts is pathetic (almost as bad as his hair).

I think Piers is truly aware of the situation of the Middle East conflict and the History Behind it, he is British and if it wasn’t for the British Mandate there would be no Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq in the current borders that we know to start with! Israel recognizes the Palestinian state in Gaza and the occupied territories of 1967, Both the Palestinians and Israelis missed golden opportunities of peace especially the one 11 years ago when Barak was a PM. But things have changed since 2000 since the Likud Party took over. Some blame the Palestinians that they are not united and can’t agree, well try to explain that to President Bush when he forced democracy over there and HAMAS gained popularity and won the elections due to road blocks in peace and poor living conditions of Palestinians and then the brutal war on Ghaza. Yet we must not forget that Hammas is the creation of the Mossad in a failed attempt to neutralize the PLO. Israel created their own terrorism.
I think there is a big disconnect between what we see in media and reality in the Middle East and the more time that passes without a comprehensive peace in the region we will all lose and ISREAL is going to be the biggest loser. I totally agree with Mr. Friedman article and unfortunately most of the readers don’t want to accept this reality!

I think that Mr. Morgan should stick with other subjects than politics and internetional aFfaires because he simply lacks knowledge and intellectual honesty; Mr. Morgan is better at bellittling people aspiring to become famous people.
Larry was a King indeed. This guy your call Piers has an agenda, his focus is entirely on politics. He invite Hollywood stars and spends an hour talking politics with them. Piers go back to Britain and talk about British Politics. You just said today that Obama will not win the next elections, not that I really care bu who are you to make such claims? I am wondering why we have all those military families scattered all over the world, and why can't we bring most of them home,station them around USA,to guard our borders,shores and air. The only additional cost would be their transportation back to USA. We are already paying their salaries. The day they hit shore here they would be spending for homes, autos,living expense,etc. That money turns over several time,creating more jobs,and those jobs create more jobs,and TAXES,plus all the new security for our country. Look at what all those additional TAXES could for USA,States,Counties, Cities. Universities,Schools, and oh,yes SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE,Roads, and on and on.Then our brilliant congress and President could quit squabliing and get down to business, and we would have happy country again. Oh yes,we could bring our soldiers home from those uswless wars. Look at that saving of precious lives and much money to pay on that debt our last two presidents have caused. And Oh yes we would have money to put in our places of worship,and Missions. PLEASE reply to me. I think this is a valuable program for our country, worth billions upon billions. The idea should be worth a very large reward, But I just would like to see it as my idea, good for our country, and not to fall in someones pocket as their idea. Please reply
It is intersting how some gents keep using the same arguments over and over again; I guess that Hitler was right when he said that when you repeat a lie so many times it becommes truth. we are told for so long that palestine was empty of palestiians, also the israelis always wanted peace but the"heathen" palestinians always refused to talk. I appreciate your hard questions for the sake of peace in the region, but with all due respect, you did come across as a bit prejudice, in the way you talk down to them, cutting them off and ultimately tried to prove your own points by teaching them a lesson during an interview which by the way is not professional Journalism! Thanks to Kathy and Steve for sharing their journey. My own father had a stroke just over a week ago. His speech is getting better every day. He has no mobility in his left arm or leg, but his is at a wonderful rehab facility, so we have hope for some recovery. My heart goes out to everyone here that has shared their own stories of strokes that have affected them. You are all in my prayers.
