Morgan Freeman: Republican anti-Obama goals are "screw the is a racist thing"

Legendary actor Morgan Freeman is a guest on "Piers Morgan Tonight" this evening for the hour, and the Oscar winner talks about his professional ups and downs, dating and much more. He also delves into politics. "The tea partiers who are controlling the Republican party...their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," he tells Piers Morgan. "What underlines that? Screw the country, we're going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here."

He continues: "It is a racist thing." Is he disappointed in Pres. Obama?

"Kind of, but I so understood that he was trying to hold onto his own promise," says Freeman. "He would be President of all the people."

Watch the full interview at 9pmET/PT – including Freeman's take on why he enjoyed playing "God" and his dating tips.

It was an accomplishment when we elected a black president, but this is the downside. Any disagreement with policy is interpreted as racism. Nope, sorry, Obama campaigned as a centrist then took a sharp turn to the left once elected, permanently alienating independents like me.Passed HCR without one Republican vote, massive tax increases passed and many more proposed. Democrats want to emulate European welfare states even as we watch them implode. Nice guy, smart, but wayyyyyyyyyyy too liberal.

Actually, he lowered taxes. And democrats do not want anything of the kind. Watch some real news instead of the faux kind.

So why do you assume I watch fox news? Obama lowered SS taxes temporarily as a stimulus, but enacted massive tax increases in HCR, many of which have not yet kicked in. He talks about millionaires and billionaires but says 200k couple is rich. I'm an independent who voted for Obama. So consider refraining from knee jerk accusations of republican partisanship in response to anything about Obama you don't want to hear. We independents call elections, not the right or the left. This is why Dems are going after senior vote by demagoguing Medicare. They know they've lost independents.

Lowered taxes? That's a lie, have you just been buying into everything your prez has said without double-checking? If so, then my taxes on my $900/mo pension wouldn't have gone up $50/month for each of the last two years. So when he stood up at the State of the Union address and made that statement about lowering taxes – I'd already emailed him 2 weeks before that letting him know my dissatisfaction. All the while I'm still unemployed after 3 1/2 years and he's done NOTHING to address it, instead spending his time on healthcare and sodomites rights in the military – in the process ignoring George Washington's enactment of Article 125 of the UCMJ, and totally ignoring why. Don't tell me how good he has been.

As for Mr Freeman's racist BS statement, go back to acting and shut up Freeman. You are now on my list of actors I will not watch, or their movies.

We were trillions of dollars in debt before he was elected....we cant fix everything overnight...please learn the facts about our debt...its cost billions of dollars to keep our troops overseas..they are coming home now..what president was able to fix everything in four years..and nobody is in his on Morgan Freedom video so you can get more clarity..

Shell, you are quite right and I'll agree with you there, the Republicans have plenty of blame to admit to. But, in Obama's first two years, he did nothing to address the debt, deficit or unemployment.

What he did instead was triple the debt in much less time than it took for the first 4 trillion, added healthcare increasing the debt further while still increasing the burden on us and our healthcare costs, and oh yeah, spending all that time worried about sodomites rights.

      Elaine ,
Europe has some rotten tomatoes but on an over all the European systems have worked much better for people than US. Just don't look at Greece , check UK , Sweden , Norway, they are are also part of Europe and what life their citizens are living. You missed the point Morgan has made – "no matter what happens we need to get rid of Obama " . Note it it is not the democrats , it is the Obama. Why ???? Why so much pressure to get one guy removed ?
It is clearly evident from every news you hear that there is almost a frenzy to get him removed . Every body today talks about deficit and very conveniently forgets that republican started wars which sucked the trillions out of US economy and pair to halliburtons, black waters and all the private war companies who tried there best to push Obama away and still trying , . When ever this question is raised , the answer is – well you have been here for so long – what have you done?
that question is absurd- after suck out trillions in two terms you want a person to come and get that back in in 4 years .

Give the guy some space to work. He is the best thing that has happened to America

They focus on removing Obama because he's the President. Presidents have a bit more power than a representative.

Of course people didn't forget about Bush's spending and wars. That's why the Tea Party was started in the first place by Ron Paul supporters.

Although I should note that that Tea Party isn't quite the same Tea Party that gets most of the headlines lately. The Tea Party has been half taken over by the religious right and neocons. ...Even saying that, it still doesn't mean they're racist.

Elaine it is not the disagreement with policy that is racist, it is the racist actions and comments that are racist. What sitting President has been called a liar on the house floor. Politicians and commentators have called him everything from tar baby to boy. There were numerous pledges to flee the country if Mr. Obama was elected President. Schools in Texas still refuse to show his yearly address to students because parents won’t send their children to school if his speech is shown. Republican's refuse to pass bills which support their own ideals because they come from the President. They have gone so far as to try and say he is a Muslim and not an American just to discredit his Presidency. All of these assaults on him were not because he is a Democrat; but, because he is an African American.

You must be a very young person or where living under a rock during the Bush years. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, et al and there comrades in the lamestream media were constantly attacking him – including calling him a Nazi. Shoot, CBS news and Dan Rather even fabricated a story!

This Real Clear Politics article can enlighten you if you care.

A snippet from the article... George Bush with a Hitler mustache and a Nazi uniform was everywhere at swastika-choked marches and rallies. "Stop the Fourth Reich-Visualize Nuremburg," said one sign at a Hollywood march. "The Fuhrer already in his bunker," said another. Lots of Nazi regalia appeared at protests in Pelosi's San Francisco as well.

If the Tea Party is racist, why is their preferred candidate for president Herman Cain? Best I can tell, he is black.

Born in Depression era segregated Mississippi, Morgan Freeman has traveled the globe, speaks four languages, conversed with more diverse citizens and heads of state than most of us could in many lifetimes. He encourages people to embrace common ground; We are one species. Any sane person wants to preserve the planet – and our country. I am an independent with 2 "white" children and 2 "black" children. Thank God their generation has gone far beyond previous ones when it comes to calling out the "race" card. They love Jon Stewart because their entire life, they've been lied to and Stewart gives them a sword to cut through the propaganda with humor – they can't laugh at his jokes unless they have an opinion of how the politicians are posturing. In THROUGH THE WORMHOLE, Morgan has studied cutting edge science which is "colorless". If we don't try to find common ground, we'll devolve to scorched earth. I was thrilled by Obama's leadership to kill Osama – not "politically correct" and did not "play" to his "base". Was it democratic? (No!) Was is republican...? Was it American? (You betcha!) Was it anti-Muslim? Was it pro-Muslim? Why didn't it garner more praise from the hawks? My point circles back to what Freeman implied: If you are a true patriot, tell our representatives in Washington that if they can't find solutions in a bipartisan manner – and would rather shut down the United States government in a display of such hubris & histrionics as to destroy a President so the Republicans can regain POWER – we will vote them out of office. We, the People, are the color of water.

It's not that racism is something that ANY rational person wants to jump to. However, when you look at the scope of things and the details... what is the answer? From day one they said we will not cooperate. By month 3 they said he was doing a terrible job. Every bit of legislation that would have put the economy on a better platform... from schools to jobs to veterans and health care... has been BLOCKED BY REPUBLICANS. This includes the budget. And the FACT is that many of the proposed bills are BI-PARTISAN! So what is the agenda? What is the real reason? Every argument can be turned around by FACTS. So, what is it?

44 GOP-held House seats in which Latino voters could influence the outcome of elections in 2014 and beyond. Of those, 14 are held by Republicans who narrowly won in 2012 and are considered vulnerable.

If republicans say no for the immigration reform; it will reinforce the message — not only to Latino voters but to moderate White voters — that Republicans are the party of ‘no’ when it comes to solving this problem.

In that way in 2015 democrats can bring the immigration reform bill on their own and make the Republican Party disappears forever.

Republicans are dumb enough to say no to immigration reform. LOL

It is truly sad that any idea from a black president cannot be debated/ disagreed with lest you be labeled a "racist". Mr Freeman obviously has no understanding of the grass roots Tea Party and stalls debate by throwing around that term without justification. The only thing linking the Tea Party and the Republican Party is the desire for spending control and small government, which the Republican Party has only recently revisited when their re-election is threatened. I see no real difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. Both parties are filled with power-hungry nitwits trying to remain in a position of privilege and power for as long as possible, and service for "country" is a secondary idea being thrown around to justify their selfish actions, much like the term "racist". Black, white, asian, hispanic... Who cares?!? Get over your race, whatever it is. Success or failure, satisfaction or dissatisfaction, wealth or poverty. They can be had by all in this country. Just get off your butt and do it. Crying "racism" will get you nowhere.

It is astounding to me that liberals constantly harp on the color of a person's skin without ever giving consideraton to the thought that perhaps opposition to a person's policies (regardless of skin color) arises from the effect of those policies. In President Obama's case, the effect of his policies is clear...rampant unemployment, continuing recession, another war...(the Libya war is the war for oil that libs were famously denouncing in Iraq), corrupt pay to play schemes (Solyndra, for example), illegal gun-running (the Fast and Furious debacle). It is not racism to oppose the president's policies, it's what is best for the country and he and his administration are not good for the country.

This is getting a bit more sijtecbuve, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of neighbors will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune Social is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

So because Bush sucked and spent a lot of money, Obama gets a free pass on wasting money on Solyndra, on wasting money on GM, (which then filed bankruptcy anyway after the union payoff), on ObamaCare which people won't even see the full disasterous effects of for another few years, "stimulus" bills no one reads for shovel-ready jobs that even Obama says don't exist, on continuing the Patriot Act, on continuing the Bush wars, on starting new wars, on putting American citizens on government hit lists to be killed without Due Process, Fast and Furious/Gunrunner that would be bigger than Watergate if the news would bother to dig into it... he gets a pass on all that?

I didn't even mention the skyrocketing debt and unemployment and hiding who visits the White House, etc.

And Obama is intelligent? Come on. Read the few articles from his college days. I'd tell you to read more of what he's written, but "the most transparent President ever" has all that under lock and key like a weasel. Watch him turn into a bumbler when he doesn't have his teleprompter. Watch him repeatedly, Repeatedly, for a year or more now, talk about our "intercontinental railroads." But of course the media ignores all of this and continues to play the American people for fools.

Watch "Ron Paul. Stop Dreaming" on youtube for a good overview of who the next President should be. Then we'll see some real transparency in government for a Change.

‎"...his time in office has made it worse." Yeah, for the people affected by racist policies and his (Obama) inability to confront them. I agree with Freeman that the Tea/Republican Party, with its fundamental "southern strategy," is racist to its states' right core. Even so, I also support many libertarian values regarding the relationship between the individual and the state. But to the point, while someone – who's a racist – may say they "will do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term," – the statement isn't racist in and of itself. It can be a partisan or ideological statement. And everyone opposed to Obama or think him to be weak or ineffectual or even hopes he fails isn't necessarily a racist. That move will backfire on Obama supporters if they want to play that card. I hope Obama fails if he supports a move to privatize social security. I hope he fails to maintain support for the war in Afghanistan and any place else. I hope his assassination program fails in the courts as well as his actions with NATO in the bombing of Libya with it's targeting of black Africans. And that's just a few examples. It seems that all Obama has in his black public corner are entertainers, insiders, wannabee insiders and fan club members. They'd be better off talking about Obama's promises for his second term instead of a poorly played race card.

Hopefully, even the GOP realizes that the economy was in a mess before Obama took over, and that it would take several years of any administration to dig out of that mess. In addition, many policies (like TARP and the bailout of the banks and auto industry) were conceived and initiated by the Bush administration. Therefore, it is an insult to the intelligence of the GOP and Tea Party members to assume that they don't know this. Clearly the Tea Party, and the GOP, to a lesser extent, have personally attacked Obama as an individual, and a POTUS, at a level of ferocity and disrespect that has never before been seen in politics. Even Clinton's relationship with the GOP (as mentioned by Piers) was nothing like Obama faces. That then begs the question, why does the Tea Part (and GOP) hate Obama so much. Add to this question, the Tea Party's crazy notion that Obama was not a US citizen, and that he is somehow the Devil reincarnated (said at several Tea Party meetings), and that he hates Americans and this country (said at McCain event during the election), a person is left to assume that something about Obama is eliciting this strong emotional (Tea Party is weak on facts) negative response. Hmmmmm what could this be? It is only natural for anyone to assume that Racism, Religion, and his family's background is a significant factor. It is also possible, that certainly while not all Tea Party members are open or knowingly racist, that the people pulling the strings behind the Tea Party Curtain see this as a driving factor, and are using the masses to carry out their goals – At all costs, remove Obama from office.

Yeah, Bush pushed TARP, but most Republicans in Congress opposed it and most Democrats in Congress voted for it. Nearly TWICE as many Democrats voted for TARP than Republicans did. Bush and Democrats sided together to use poor people's money to bail out big banks and rich guys like Warren Buffet.

If you think that the Republicans are the only ones playing political games with the economy, then you are blind to the truth. Most Americans are sick of the rhetoric from both sides and the ridiculous finger pointing! Cut the BS! This is how the Tea Party was founded. Everyday people sick of the stupidity of ALL politicians in Washington, left and right. I'm not even a member of the Tea Party, but the continued waste of time and money by politicians and their blind supporters has pushed me toward the Tea Party more and more every day.

Democrats ran Congress for FOUR YEARS, and they had Congress plus Obama in the White House for TWO YEARS. And you want to blame the Republicans who have had half of Congress a little over six months? Come on. Maybe if Dems didn't spend so much time trying to push through backroom deals and bribes to pass Obamacare the country would be better off right now.

Heck, where's their budget for the last TWO YEARS? They didn't even put effort into trying to pass a budget, much less actually passing one. They had control of Congress and the White House and couldn't even do a basic requirement of their jobs. They waited until Republicans got in there and wanted to get something done, and then suddenly Dems care about budgets. Yah.

Dems had Congress for Four Years and still have the Senate. Where's their great jobs plans? Where!? Their bs keynesian stimulus didn't work as predicted, so now the only thing they have on the table is Obama wants to do it again, and even half the Dems don't want to. And Obama reappointed the same moron Fed Chairman that Bush did. (change? where?) Democrats had control of both houses of Congress for four years until this year. They're useless, and they continue to prove they are useless.

If anyone is going to vote Democrat, so be it, but you should be mad as hell at the current crop of nitwits and vote them out. Charles Rangel got honerated this week after being censured less than a year ago. I mean come on! Whether D or R, at least vote some respectable people in there.

I totally agree that Obama being black is why "some" are almost rabid about making sure he is not re-elected. I say this as a unemployed white male. I truly believe that "the people" with the real power/money decided right after his election they would hold onto there money and do all they could to make sure no jobs were created during his term. They have as much said that and it's obvious. Most large corporations are making record profits and holding that money...banks also. Why?? because the don't "feel" good about the country right now? right....

It's not disagreeing with Obama that makes it racist. It's the kinds of personal attacks on him – particularly the years-long accusations that he's really a Kenyan hiding the truth of his birth certificate. McCain never released his and only showed it to one reporter briefly. Yet no one cares because he's presumed to be 100% American. Obama needed to be held to a higher standard than even past presidents on that one. And you have the smattering of cnn blog posters with the avatar showing a monkey labeled as Obama, the blatant and veiled racist comments about Michelle's species.... it just goes on and on. And the Tea Party never condemns their members for the things they say, nor shows any respect for Obama for holding the highest office around. The only thing they do say is that Obama needs to go asap.

Hey, Morgan(s), if you guys want to see some real racism, just look at things like the Congressional Black Caucus. They're so racist they asked black people's permission before calling out Obama on jobs, etc. Obama is black, so they treat him with kid gloves. Meanwhile, some of them and other black members of Congress call the Tea Party racist, say the Tea Party should go to hell, claimed the Tea Party called them racist names but FOUR different camera angles showed it never happened. ...did the media then call out those people for being complete liars? Of course not.

Who constantly separates people into groups based on race? Liberals. Everything they do always has to have some kind of racial aspect to it. You think saying, "We want Obama to be a one-term President" is racial? If Al Gore was President, they'd want him to be a one-termer too. ...if Obama was white, would you guys and the media cut him so much slack? I doubt it. Who's the racists again?

Morgan Freeman, so the Tea Party would elect Herman Cain as President RIGHT NOW if they could, but they're a bunch of racists? Explain that one to me or stop spreading your accusations.

One guy a couple feet away yelling so loudly some accidental spit maybe comes out is "spitting on a black guy because he's black." Yah. The people involved claimed multiple racial slurs were used against them. There are multiple camera angles of the whole thing. If you or anyone can prove racial slurs were used, go collect the $100,000 reward that's been offered for the past year. If you can't prove racial slurs were used, then come back here and admit you are wrong and that it was all a lie.

Funny how the media made the story so huge, but then when actual video footage comes out with no racial slurs in it, they all stop running the story and don't call out the liars. Tell me there's no liberal bias in media....

Mr. Freeman is an interesting study. Criticism of a black man is racist? The opposing party wanting to remove him from power is racist? So following Freeman's logic (more like idiocy) it would follow that when Democrats wanted to remove Bush after his first term in office it was because they are in large part a non-white party and racist?! When did Freeman become an idiot? Or senile? Or, is he just playing the race card so that any who disagree with the policies of Obama are made to feel politically incorrect because they must be racist to go against a black man, oh, um excuse me, a half black, half white man?

There was so much hatred toward GW Bush, but dissent of this president has consistently been purported to be racism. These calls of racism are unfounded especially with the strong support of Herman Cain and Alan West.. Most people could care less what color a person is, get out of the past and except the facts that this president is ineffective and inexperienced enough to be able to handle the state of this nation. The housing bubble is the main cause of the state of this economy and it came about due to the policies of the democrats, namely Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. President Bush warned of this outcome, but the dems were in power and pushes their destructive policies. Yes, you can dispute the cost of the wars, but the dems were for those as well and instead of conducting the wars in a militay strategical way, it is being used as a political football. Win it or pull everyone out, and don't , make us pay to send contractors over there either.
Bottom line Freeman and folks like he are using race as a scapegoat for Obama's failures and their own misguided wishes for this immature president. I guess Bill Clinton is racist also since he doesn't believe Obama's tax on millionaires has any benefit. Obama just throws pasta against the wall, it's undercooked.

I admire Morgan Freeman for calling the Tea Party members and others in Congress whom I believe are against Obama simply because he's black. When I heard several prominent members of Congress prior to Obama's Labor Day speech make the statement that no matter what he had to say, they weren't going to support it. At that moment, it became very clear to me that their disagreement with Obama went beyond ideology differences. I said to my wife at the moment I heard the words the Congressmen had said that I actually believe they are holding the country hostage in Washington because Obama is Black. This "do nothing" Congress has as much or more to do with racism than Republican vs Democratic. I had avoided thinking that perhaps actual members of our Congress would put the country as a whole in jeopardy due to something as base as racism, but perhaps I should have opened my eyes to the possibility earlier.

I don't think Obama has the leadership skill required to be President of the U.S. during these extremely difficult times, but in saying that, I don't think any one person really has the skills needed to navigate this crisis. Of course each and every member of Congress doesn't have the skill or maturity to be in office either and should be voted out in the next election.

It's really nice that you admire someone for making divisive and abhorrent claims against a whole group that is actually many separate groups with the main goal of smaller, less invasive government policies mainly taxation on individuals and small businesses. Those that believe their actions are because of race are uniformed, these people actually started their cries during the Bush administration though they weren't organized at that time.

As for Republicans in Congress not wanting to support Obama prior to a speech, first they get word as to the outline of the speech and second they are well aware of Obama's distributive mentality that they definitely will never support. Obamacare has done enough to destroy the ecomomy and future prospects, allowing him to compound on that sort of policy would be foolish and let's get real it is the political nature of Washington. Don't tell me the dems are any different when it comes to Republican ideas. Reed doesn't even want to let it come to the floor for a vote when he disagrees.
It;s not racism it's the economy. Claims of racism like this are STUPID.

Will you be proud of what you have contributed to make this earth a better place; or will you be scared of meeting your maker ? Forget your wealth; forget your race or religion. It's show time. No one can escape it and no one is really sure what comes next. All I know is......"I PASS THROUGH THIS WORLD BUT ONCE. I agree with Mr. Freeman, we have become a nation of people who are so comsume with race untill the whole world is falling down around us and no one is looking, In other word someone has let the coffee pot on and no one is at home. Never in my 48 years of life have I seen so much many race comments. And it so sad to see. I would like everyone to think about themselves being in a situation, If for some reason you need a heart , liver, lungs, or eyes would color matter than, just think about, because at the end of the day we are all the same it just the outside that changes thing, Much love to all people. Love is truly color blind.

This country of ours is going to hell in a basket and all we can do is talk about race. To say it does not exsist is stupid. We as americans must make some painful choices in that for us to stay on top in the world, race has no place in our future. We have enough smart people who are not in politics with some better ideas. If the road to success was a 100 meter race the poor would start at the 1 meter line the middle class at the 10 meter line and the rich at the 95 meter line. who wins this race its clear. Americans have to take care of americans and understand that we are all responsible for our problems as a nation. Look for ways to help because there are many things to be done. We must stan up as a nation not as a Dem or Rep and do the right thing for this country.

This must be an old photograph. The park in qeoitsun is in north central Beijing, not far from the main Olympic area. As part of the preparation for the Olympics, the Chinese government convinced corporate sponsors to come in and re-do many of the public park signage. In the case of MinZuYuan (Ethnicity Park), Nestle provided all the new signage. I lived in Beijing from 2005 until 2008 and searched actively for signs translated as racist park,' but I think they had all been replaced already.

It was evident from the last election that race matters. If it didn't, Obama wouldn't be President! Most blacks and many others voted for Obama only because he is 1/2 black.

That's also racist, to believe that most black people are so stupid they would only vote for someone because they're black. You believe you're right, but not everyone has the same political views as you, contrary to popular belief. Not every black person is a dumb gangster sitting around the ghetto that votes for the first black face they see. Many black people ran for president before, and none of them won, because even blacks didn't vote for them. President Obama had something that spoke to many people, and that's what made him different. I'm not even black, and your statement offended me.

Mr. Freeman has yet again painted a whole group of people with a broad brush. Having worked for Mr. Freeman at his Madidi Restaurant in Clarksdale, MS, I am saddened by his recent remarks. I guess anyone disagreeing with President Obama or Mr. Freeman on any subject are to be considered racist now! Mr. Freeman, a great actor and a man who has done much economically for the Mississippi Delta is allowing his rhetoric and reputation to devolve into a poor legacy! What a shame! Billy Howell,

It's stupid for anyone to believe there is no hate towards Obama for being black. There is blatant hate, in some cases. And sometimes, even when you don't think it's because he's black, it can be subconsciously. That has nothing to do with politics, but with human psychology. Sometimes when you have a bias, you have it for subconscious reasons. Also, many people claim people voted for Obama BECAUSE he was black. I'm sure some people did (not everyone is educated on EITHER side, so don't act righteous), but some people agree with his politics. Some of you say "sleeping", but some people actually agree. Again, don't act righteous. It's human nature to believe you're smarter than everyone else, but MOST people aren't stupid, and have reasons for believing what they believe. That is why no matter what you say, no matter how many things that anger YOU Obama does, or how many things that anger US that Republicans do, neither of us will change our minds, because we have our own reasons for our beliefs. But yes, some people hate him for being black. For every "I swear it's not because he's black" comment, there are blatantly racist "f*** that n*****!" comments. Also, some of the stuff he's been asked, or charged with, are ridiculous. "He's not a REAL American!" Really? You think the government would allow a non-American to be elected President? If Best Buy wants to know your citizenship before you work there, I would think the US Government would want to know your citizenship before you're, you know, elected President. Also, the government knows who is an isn't a citizen, and where you were born; that's why people still get deported. "He's a MUSLIM!" Okay... so? He's not, he said he's not, and even if he was, what would be wrong with that? That it's not Christian? That, in itself, is bigoted. To say there is not ANY hatred towards Obama because of his race is ridiculous. There was hatred towards Bush for HIS race, let's be realistic. Racism still exists in this country. And people, stop being idiots. Calling someone else racist is not being racist. So, to call Morgan Freeman racist for saying other people are being racist is just being defensive, for no reason. It's like you're trying to deflect. I hate when people defend racism by saying "YOU'RE RACIST FOR SAYING WE'RE RACIST!!!!!111!!!!" That's a cop out, and it makes people who are actually bigoted able to get away with it. If you want to defend your Tea Party, which IDK why you would, you should defend the Republican Party, not the Tea Party, because they're foolish sounding and a lot of them have said racist things (not the public forum ones, the ones in private forums or at the protests). But If you want to defend your Tea Party, why not RENOUNCE the racist ones, instead of pretending they don't exists? They do exist. Why not just say "I'm sorry about those nut jobs. Most of us don't feel that way, we just disagree with the way the country is being run." I could respect that, but I can't respect your pretending it doesn't exist, and deflecting by calling Mr. Freeman a racist for calling out racism.

Also, if you want people to believe that racism doesn't exist, maybe you should talk to your teenage children about trolling on web comment sections calling people every racist slur in the book. Maybe, in real life, they're not racist, and you're not racist, and what have you, but just a trip over to youtube will show you that racist comments are made on nearly EVERY video. Maybe it'd be easier to believe there was NO racism, if people weren't actually saying racist things.

I believe Mr. Freeman has a point. The only problem is that President Obama had a mandate and a chance to make his mark, instead he chose to listen to the very people that downsized our life. He gave away trillions and now that he is on the right track with his job program he will be trashed by the very interests he helped.

I feel this makes Morgan look like one of the many people who seem to believe everyone is a raciest until proven not to be so. I don't like Obama as President but so far I do like Herman Cain. Morgan, Oh Dear Morgan. I love you as an actor, I loved your prescription for racism in your interview with Mike Wallace. So why are you playing this race card thing now? So disappointed here. The TEA party acronym stands for Taxed Enough Already. I am not a TEA partier. However, it seems pretty obvious that a political movement founded on the idea that our government already taxes more than enough would oppose any President who every other speech proposes new government programs and corresponding taxes or diverting taxes to pay for them. It wouldn't matter if he was purple or green. The TEA party is against the ideology President Obama represents. So disappointed in Morgan right now, thought he was more transparent when it came to race.

Why is it everything is down to being racist?? It has become far to common for black people to state "racism" when they really don't have an argument. It appears that some do not want "equal" they want "special" and it is never ENOUGH to satisfy. When will you get it through your head we can dislike the person and it has nothing to do with race? We just don't like your ass....period! Morgan Freeman had my respect until he showed how uneducated and racist he really is. And if he want's to toot the racist card perhaps I should vote along those lines cos it is apparent that the next election will have nothing to do with who's the best for the job.......its people like that....that "create" racism.....getting a little tired of giving in just to appease....perhaps my grandparents were right after all.........

May as well vote based on race. Samuel Jackson blatantly admits to doing it. As did Gene Simmons, though he regrets it.

Piers, you should have Samuel Jackson on and talk about how racist he is for voting for Obama just because he's black. And maybe you can have some Democrats on to talk about how how very racist it is to vote for someone purely due to skin color. Even better, have those Democrats be members of the Congressional Black Caucus. I'd like to see what interesting things they have to say about Samuel Jackson's reason for voting.

I am a proud white person, but I have to recognized that when some one give an opinion, that is his opinion. We all know perfectly that we live in a Free Country, and different kind of people live in America, and we all know, that if I say I love the hispanic people that is here legally but I hate the illegal immigrants, is still no normal, because we should not hate any other human being. I am Republican, and I know some of my friends are very racists, they hate all hispanics, specially all Mexicans and Black people,Hate the Democrats, because they say that Democrats help minorities and they hate President Obama to the bone. So please stop hypocrisy, it is racism period. Psychology says: When an alcoholic recognizes that he is sick,he wants to stop drinking, the same happens with a racist, when a racist says I am racist he is tired of being racist, but when he gets mad he is very sick. When you hate you are sick. when you hate you commit crimes.

I think it's a self-esteem thing, at least with a lot of people. They may be poor, unaudceted, unattractive (in the estimation of whoever counts to them), not have many obvious options of what to do with their lives, whatever, but if they can convince themselves that they are better than someone else by accident of birth then they are happy to look down on those people.. I don't agree with it, but I can grasp their logic, however flawed. But the people who are pro anti-themselves (per your earlier examples above)? This just makes no sense.

The NYC DOB’s SST compliance deadline was originally set for September 1st 2020. The deadline has since been extended to March 1st 2021.
