READ about Piers Morgan's long career in journalism here.
Filmmaker and author Michael Moore was a guest on "Piers Morgan Tonight" this evening, and he talked about the "Occupy Wall Street" protest, 2012 politics and more. "I do well," Moore told Piers Morgan. But: "We reward people for making money off money, and moving money around and dividing up mortgages a thousand times over, selling it to China...and it becomes this shell game."
Of the current state of the America: "None of the major religions, in fact they all, say it's one of the worst sins you could commit, is to take such a large piece of the pie while others suffer." And of the Wall Street protests: "It's starting. It's down there right now on Wall Street. It starts with the young people...it's going to spread across the country."

Thank you for your clear and fair interview with Mr. Moore. I don't always agree with all Michael says and does but I do herald that he takes a powerful stand on issues. He helps the world with their lack of critical thinking and assessing deeply.
God bless this country still have people who think like you!
I agree with almost all of what is being said tonight. I would like to know why instead of giving the banks all that money for a bail out, I think that the banks should have helped homeowners get lower interest mortgages at no cost to the homeowner and the money that it would cost for a refinance charge would come from the bail out money and the banks could get a 1 or 2% fee for this. This way the banks would not have people foreclosing on their homes . The homeowners would be happy and the banks should be happy that the homeowner can now pay their mortgage. This would be the American Way, Helping the American People!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fine for Mr. Moore to spew his rhetoric. His net worth is $50 million. Maybe he should give it all away and live like the rest of us.
Ad hominem. Why not just dismiss his points on the grounds that he is fat?
To Art: Mr. Moore is a billionaire – many sites say his wealth is past the millionaire stage and he has many stock investments in the companies that he is protesting against – can we say hypocrite or poser? I for one won't be seeing anything that he produces – why give him another billion?
wow...alot of people here btter towards a man who's done well for himself...exposing truths that are truth...not rhetoric..unlike government.
christine commented on Michael Moore on Wall Street protests: "It's going to spread across the country".

Michael Moore may give a little of his money to some charity, he may provide health insurance for his employees but he is a billionaire after all and invests his money in the Wall Street companies he protests against. He is a super hypocrite – of course he is going to get on these TV talk shows and talk and talk – he is conjuring up with all this how he can conjure up his next book and another billion – which he invests etc etc ..... who's stupid here me or you? He bites the hand that feeds him.
Two things: 1) I think the College Tuition is a "scam" It can't be under bankruptcy. The banks have a sure money scam with dividing the cost between the student and their parents. It seems less money. Then Universities can change anything they want.
2) It's just not the lower hourly wage, but the threat of law suits, union demands, or willing workers. That is what Corporate America.
I found Michael Moore to be a fairly credible man who seems genuinely concerned with Americas issues; until tonight. The moment that was ridiculous in all of this and cost Michael my support was his ridiculous skating around the FACT that he is one of the 1%. He is worth over 30million dollars. It was insulting for his to keep insinuating that he is in some way not wealthy. I think what he does as far as bringing light to issues is great, but let's call a spade a spade. Doing good things with your money does not change the class in which you belong, which in his case is upper.
If you want to be taken seriously Michael, be honest and don't pretend we are so stupid as to believe that you lump it in the middle class with us!
Well dear Dee, you may considere Michael part of the 1% because yes he earns money and he does well, but he does not exploit those who works for him. and he cares for 99% that are not getting what they deserve of the pie. The fact that he has money and cares for for us admirable. I hope all the wealthy people could think closed to what he does. May today we did not have to occupy wall street. They got bail out and we got sold out. He does not considere himself part of those who are exploiting us. I admire Michael and I think he is one of the few american that is trying to alert us on the the issues that concern minority in this case the mayority of us. He does not need to complain, like you said he is part (in resources)of the 1% he does not need to defend the mayority. But I think he does care.
I am totally mystified that anyone could think that he isn't part of the 1% – he's a poser that wants your money and will say anything to get it – are some of you nuts? he's a BILLIONAIRE!
I'm pretty sure he was not denying his wealth. He clearly said he's done well and attributes that to those who go and see his films. He does Share the wealth with his employees. They all have paid medical benefits and he uses his money to give back. That is what sets him apart from the 1% that is the greed of the elite.
Big $ brought the economy, with the consumers help, to a all time high that the business man/men enjoyed and came accusomed to. No matter how much $ they made, there was always a bigger $ mark to make, regardless what the consumer had to pay. To big $, 'if the consumer wants in, they will have to pay', and pay they did. Spending $ they sqeezed for years, from their budgets to afford homes, cars, clothing, vacation get-aways, etc. All are a part of the world economy. But when is it enough. Enough to say, 'we're satisfied with where you, the consumer, has brought us', and level off the market, in all facets. That would never happen, because big $ is a ensatiably hungry for more, and more. Big $ brought the market to a crumbling heap. They cry, 'whoa is me', but it is the consumer who pays no matter the market status. The consumer can walk away from this with one thing in mind. If you need it, buy it. If you want it, but would rather not spend the $ they ask, whether a good deal or not, don't force yourself to buy it. If you have to sacrafice more than what is reasonable for any 'splurge', DON'T SPEND IT!
It's nice to see Piers has carried on Larry King's tradition of allowing Michael Moore to state all of his views without challenge. Do you seriously believe that every one of Michael's claims and statements has to be accepted at face value?
He has presented enough proove
you dont need an x-ray to know you have a broken bone.your america doesnt need an x-ray to know the rich have broken their spine.and the worst part is my australia is becoming pathetically similar.capatilism SUX
Great job Michael! You're a true American Patriot.
Your movie Sicko perfectly depicted the health insurance scam and led the reform for universal health care. Thank you! and congratulations. In my master's degree economics’ class we did a class project to determine what was holding America back and the number one issue was that all other countries supplied their citizens with universal health care and its cost was included in the tax structure. Yet in the US, we would NEVER be able to compete effectively on a global market because in the US our health care system was privatized. While traveling globally, I've spoken to others around the world who said they were appalled that American people made money on another's suffering.
I have a hard time understanding why people can't understand that health care should simply be included in your taxes. Yet these same people pay taxes for police, prosecutors, garbage collection, highway departments, sanitary fees, street lights and thousands of other government controlled (state run) necessities. If it's something that is needed by everyone in the society, why would we want to privatize it and allow it to run unregulated like Enron? Do we want wild price fluctuations (like we have in the health care industry now)? Do we want loss of service (like the brown outs in California artificially created by Enron)? Do we want a total collapse? We can't afford to have this happen to health care. That's why it's imperative that it be governent controlled.
Sincerely,
Daniel Koc..., AEE, BSEE, MSIT, business owner
The destruction of the healthcare system is exactly what will happen if the government we have now with it's large overspent credit card takes over. Looking at it from a liberal higher education perspective is one thing, seeing it from an actual healthcare worker perspective is another. Having worked at a University Medical center, I asked numerous up and coming Drs what they would do if the healthcare system came under a federal system – number one answer, get out. Why, benefits of all kinds including $ is what attracts the best and the brightest no matter what the field. Also, if people have never noticed all the steps Drs have to go through now with Medicare and Medicaid, it would be much much worse if it were all federal.
One minor detail Daniel...only 50% of us pay income tax...so you want to take MORE out of my pocket to help provide medical for those who pay nothing....not fair dude.
Reply to Daniel Koc – Mr Edumacated.... lots of us are educated and can also think – lots of us have worked in many countries around the world – years for me in fact. You are promoting Michael Moore from a liberal view and tring to make us fearful for thinking and speaking differently than you. Enron was an employee problem called greed. I worked globally and never found anyone that said anything about our health care. I had health care in several countries and no friend or doctor mentioned anything like you have. I have several Canadian friends, one is my next door neighbor and she and many of my Canadian friends tell me horror stories about their government run health care system. Stop trying to convince that you must be some type of guru of everything. Michael Moore is simply part of the 1% making him a billionaire and speaking out of both sides of his mouth.
hell no!
What real proof do you have that the view points of Michael Moore are not factual and real? How are his perspectives out of line with how you see this? Please give me specifics, I look forward to being enlightened.
Micheal Moore is a the BEST!!! He knows what he's talking about.. And at this point its about the people of the United States.. Thats where I come in and promote a NEW GENERATOR OF JOBS!!! Through Referral Marketing.. I am a referral Marketer I trade Sweat Equity For Home Equity.. This NEW JOB GENERATOR WILL GO VIRAL FOR THE UNEMPLOYED UNDEREMPLOYED AND MIDDLE CLASS WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW WAY OUT OF THIS STRESSFULL LIFE STYLE... LIKE MICHEAL SAID 46MILLION PEOPLE IN POVERTY SHOULD BE A CRIME
Well, Michael Moore got HIS PRESIDENT IN OFFICE! Why isn't he Happy? Jobs last month.....ZERO! Yeah, what goes on in this country IS a crime especially the PROMISES MADE BY OBAMA! Michael DID NOT POINT THAT OUT!
soooo you're angry that the jobs bill, which hasn't yet passed, didn't create any jobs last month?
Suzy, President Obama cannot get anything done to help the people because of the Republicans. Read the news and I don't mean FOX. You have to go outside this country's media to get the real news on what is going on in America. President Obama is one man trying to fix a mess left behind by the last President Bush. WAKE UP AMERICA and blame the people that deserve the blame. I blame President Obama for not taking a stronger stance against the Republicans. He should be using every tool available as President to get laws passed that help the 98% of citizens in this country. Not just the top 2%. He is trying to get the taxes raised on the rich and the Republicans block him at every turn. Blame the people that really deserve the blame. Congress, the Federal Reserve and SEC.
Druma,
You said it 100% perfectly CORRECT! Congratulations! You have done your homework and understand what is going on in America. Unfortunately the rich republican have all the money and can create smoke and mirror games which easily deceive the uninformed typical American. Only a few people, such as myself, have a masters degree, have studied economics and accounting and truly understand what's going on. Only a few of us realize that Obama's plans will not only succeed for the 98% who don't make a million dollars a year but in the long run, once the 98% of Americans have money, they will spend it and that will immensely help the other 2%. That's why Obama won the election primarily with the support of college educated.
to Suzi – you're right as rain.
If fat face Moore truly believed in referral marketing for capitalism he wouldn't come on shows like this and have little excerpts for his books and movies every 5 minutes throughout the interview. Moore is the epitome of capitalism at its finest. He sells an outrageous idea to desperate poor people and plays it off that he is doing it for them not to make money. Typical liberal hypocrite. Reminds me of our president campaigning.
Well, since you're not going to do anything about it, except for gripe for a few lines in an online post, I guess that means Mr. Moore wins.
dude its the producers who put clips of his movies in the interviews.. Are you that stupid that you think he edits the freaking show? god your a moron.
"He sells an outrageous idea to desperate poor people and plays it off that he is doing it for them not to make money." Doesn't add up with his comment, "I do very well." You think we're so stupid we don't realize he has money? What a condescending comment. You know what he also does with that money? He doesn't collect it in banks and hoard it up, he acts too. All proceeds from his book sold in Georgia will go to project innocence, as an example. Quit trolling.
Well put…He must get paid, but he DOES look like a hypocrite!
Alex right on!!
95% of the people protesting never had a real job, never put one dime into society – taxse social security but the minute something happens they want their hand outs...get a life and a real job contribute to society!
Amen Brother!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude...I wish you could see through your own cynicism....maybe you would realize that Moore is on OUR SIDE...The money and the publicity that he brings to the American cause for social justice is an uncontested fact...the man is a pioneer and founding father for the modern American Revolution. He needs to be encouraged and rallied behind. Check your hate at the door...then, maybe you can see the good Moore has done, and continues to do for common people like you and me.
Michael Moore is a hypocrite. He has millions on top of millions of dollars as he criticizes capitalism.
Why not give away all that money, and keep $ 300,000 ? I am not saying he should give it away, but I am saying he's hurting his own cause by being two-faced.
Such a scandalous man.
I hope every million er had concern for people .Micheal Moore is the voice of voiceless. He has a message for all of us to be active member in society to Charity and guard Democracy. I love Micheal Moore.
Capitalism was fine when corporations made 30% off a product and paid their employees well and gave them benefits. Today's version has to take profits of 800% and pay lousy wages, and reward you with worse benefits. There is NO reason that a company can't make a product in the US, and pay its employees well, when they charge inflated prices on junk made in foreign countries. For example, at my local supermarket, you pick up a strainer off the shelf, made in China, it costs $12.00 to purchase. There is about twenty five cents worth of material in the strainer. Tell me that the company couldn't be profitable paying an American $15.00 an hour to make 100 of these an hour. Go ahead, tell me so I can call you a liar! These are FACTS people, don't BS it with taxes and regulations, that's all bull. Deregulate companies and they will poison your drinking water. Corporate America is irresponsible and NEEDS regulation, Problem is that we don't regulate imports, where corporations pillage and poison, then say they are over regulated here.... I could go on and on, and NO ONE could pose ANY valid ARGUMENT! I'm done arguing, as are many Americans, and many are ready to take matters into our own hands since our "leaders" (hardly) refuse to hear us.... They will regret it... Expect Us. Thank you Michael, AND Piers for giving these brave men and women the air time. THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR THEIR MESSAGE.
Man oh Man they didn't even cut your Kool Aide with water........
Better go back and check your facts. NO CORPORATE TAX HAS EVER BEEN NOT PASSED DOWN TO CONSUMERS. NO COST OF REGULATION COMPLIANCE HAS NOT BEEN PASSED DOWN TO CONSUMERS.. Got it? GOOD... So Obama's answer for a depressed economy is to continue increasing regulations via the EPA, and to eventually raise corperate taxes on the "Jet Set" Rich, but will still inject a new stimulus package expecting a different outcome than the first Stimulus, Right... As if NONE of it will not increase cost to the middle class and poor... Printing more money only devalues the money in circulation, doesn't matter whose wallet it is in, but be assured the middle class and poor will feel the effects more.
Check this out, if you took every friggin cent of everyone making over $250K per year and ALL their Property, Businesses, jewely, cars, homes, clothes off their friggin backs, it would only run this country for 1 friggin year.... THEN WHAT, Who are you going after next?

A video on "EATING THE RICH": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=661pi6K-8WQ
Balistic... YOU need to water down YOUR coolaid... You are seriously missing the point, its no wonder you think like you do, and can be so easily manipulated. YOU are just trying to protect your 1% buddies, and now its over. The lies are over. No one believes you anymore. You STILL didn't present ANY factual or accurate information or argument against my points. Money doesn't buy you common sense, and you prove that here.
How about STOP THE WAR MACHINE THAT EATS ALL OF THE U.S. MONEY UP. The war is to benefit the oil companies not the people of the country. Wake up.
Ballistic45 – So, you're saying, 'Dont bother taxing the rich because they will only tax us with higher prices?' Read my entry about 'big $ and consumer leverage.' Ignore the higher priced stuff. Dont buy the big $ for things. Make big $ settle for what WE want to offer. Just walking away from making them 'pay their fare share' would be a slap in the consumer's face! You're right, we will pay, but for how long? Eventually they will have to give in and admit, we are not going to keep paying for their creature comforts, but for our own, and if we find cheaper digs, SO BE IT. TAX THEM ANYWAY. WE DESERVE TO SEE THEIR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK FOR A CHANGE! LOL
You people should compare the quality of life today to that of your grandparents. Remember all the stories about not going to the movies but once a year, and they were a nickel? What about scraping to get by, with no TVs, barely a radio in the house, and having to spend their one vacation week a year at home? The problem isn't wages, it's expectations. The generations of today have become greedy, not just corporations. How many TVs does the average 'poor' household have? How many Xboxes or Playstations? How many cars? How much junk food and beer and cigarettes?
Yes, corporations have become greedy, driven by Wall Street investors (who often happen to be the very employees working for those companies) demanding immediate returns on their investments, rather than building for a 20 to 30 year retirement plan.
I've got a solution, since Michael Moore only wants to grab his own wealth by CAPITALIZING on the ignorance and greed of his own followers ... if you are disgusted by a corporation's policies and greed, DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM IT. There are PLENTY of businesses to choose from. Plenty of small businesses that create the products you would need or want. But no, you'll all just whine and moan and complain about the 'big, bad corporations,' and then trek on down to Wal-Mart to get your garbage cheap. Every single one of you who does that is a hypocrite. Me? I refuse to buy anything from a company that has grown out of control. I don't make a lot, and yes, it costs more, but I put my money where my mouth is. What about you?
I agree with most of what you said... I too don't purchase from these companies, have live within my means, but totally support getting corporate lobbyists out of Washington. Why should these companies have influence over my life? This is NOT capitalism. I am with the 10% who are really fighting for the 99% of which, 80% are still sleeping, and need to wake up. These companies are making it impossible for the very small businesses that I prefer to shop with to stay in business. Mega multinational company buy off politicians to create a state where all the laws favor their criminal activities. My children won't HAVE a right of choice if WE don't stop this madness now!
well said sir!
Do yourself a favor and watch this. It's not politically motivated. It's just simple economics everyone can understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hx16a72j__8&feature=player_embedded
Doug is right. Corporations need to bring jobs back , but they need to comply with environmental regulations, which we ALL do. Americans need to "dollar vote;" buy only American or as much as possible. Write corporations and demand American-made goods. And buy locally to strengthen your community.
Well said Doug.
Piers Morgan Your interviewing technique, if you can call it that, sucks. You ask a question, as with Michael Moore, you then interrupt his reply with your own comments, essentially answering your own question, and pressing him for a confirmation of your beliefs.. I knew someone from England years ago who did the same thing, presented a polemic, waited for some one to dare to reply, interrupted them (usually me) and applied his hyper British sense of right and wrong and how justice should be served—the British have an inordinate sense of right and wrong, and they make sure that everyone knows about how justice should be served. You are no exception.. I had to turn the interview off. I would have liked to have known what Michel Moore really had to say, but your interruptions did not allow him time to form a reply while he was thinking about how to form one. Stop it, Learn how to interview. Play some old Larry King tapes, you might learn something if you can shut up long enough to listen instead of talk.
BTW it doesn't hurt to disagree with your buddies every once in a while. Some people may actually start respecting you as a "reporter" and watch your program. Don't hold your breath on that last statement I doubt a substantial number of viewers will ever turn in to your show... or CNN for that matter.
I am not much of a television viewer but I switched on the TV this morning in the middle of the Micheal Moore interview. I like Micheal Moore for presenting what is hidden behind all the political facade. I do however, have to agree with tryguy about your interview techniques (or lack thereof). Within minutes of starting to watching the show, I got very irritated by the fact that it was a "Piers Morgan opinion on Micheal Moore issues" hour rather than an interview. I too would have liked to hear Micheal speak rather than just confirming what was all said by Piers. Somehow I got the impression that Micheal Moore himself was not very pleased with the interview either. On a positive note: You certainly did your homework on researching Micheal Moore.
Thank you Michael Moore for your perfect articulation of what has happened to America! One word, GREED, explains it all. Greed at everyone's expense, health, livelihood, and quality of life. People basically feel like they are being kept alive to feed the machine.
YES, TERRIBLE...ALL THIS GREED. I can just hear Michael muttering this under his breath ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK! Yeah, Capitalism SUCKS but it's been VERY GOOD too Michael! Oh, and HE LoVES OBAMACARE so much he's going to give up his UNION insurance and switch to OBAMACARE......RIGHT MIKEY??????????
I not surprised that you had Michael moore on; we need to here both sides. I am surprised you did not chalange his inaccurate statements and portrails. He is so far left thet is is is no way objective and.
Wow! You need to go back to school and learn how to spell. Challenge, hear, portrayals, that...not chalange, here, portrails, thet. the only time that republicans want to hear both sides is when, once in a blue moon, a Dem or a Liberal actually gets interviewed. Grow Up!
wow. can i report abuse of the English language?
Fact-free Americans Unite! Let's jump off a cliff together to show these dummy-heads that skipping class in school was kool and that learning to form your own patriotic opinions independent of a foreign-owned news agency is dumb. God will give us wings! I'm sure of it because I pray to him every time I want something bad to happen to other people!
good ol' MM: doesn't talk to Occupy Wall St; talks to CNN for his fifteen minutes. what a guy
Good ol MM was DOWN THERE!, OOOPPPS! The main stream media failed to tell you that now,
There are lots of us out there being pushed to the left. Keep it up Corporate America and you will see one day the retribution.
"If there is any hope of change it lies with the Proli's".

mm when your outspoken u scare weak people ,thats why they write nastys back to u .the strong hear u and ,god bless them, the youth are listening.they must rise up like the rest of the world.i am 70 and live on 10,000 a yaer and now the repubs. want that ,come on kids ,if they get away with starving us what r they going to do to you and yours .thanks piers keep it up.
Mr. Morgan, your interviewing style is annoying. You constantly interrupt you guests. I applaud you for having someone from the left on your show; however, please allow your guests the time to articulate their thoughts, comments...that is why I tune in, not to listen to your views. Also, quit plugging your "Americans Have Talent" show.
That all he HAS....ON HIS SHOW...are people from the LEFT! Are you kidding!!!!
Ya Dee is a complete moron, please Dee never post a comment again on politics before you understand what is "left" and what is considered "right". Its not that difficult but for someone who probably voted for Barry Obama it might be an impossible task.
http://youtu.be/GjSMfEtAf7I
I truly enjoy the way Piers Morgan interview his guests, he is well informed and play fair
Michael Moore is a great guy trying to right the wrong in this country
he makes so much sence to me, keep it up.
Are you kidding????? Piers Morgan doesn't CHALLENGE HIS GUESTS! He lets them spout off their comments as through they were facts and doesn't question their answers! Michael Moore is not main stream whatsoever! He's a far left guy, with an agenda, no better than someone who's views are far right! MOST people are in the middle! His followers are in the 20% range or less.
Play fair, or pander and ego-stroke to an creepishly awkward extent? The moment fat face said the banks were responsible for the college debt Morgan did correct him that it is a government issued loan. Unfortunately El Pushover-Piers Morgan folded like a cheap suit when Moore regurgitated his overused refrain... "But the corporations get rich off these wars!"
I wasn't at war when I was in college you idiot. What the hell do the wars have anything to do with college debt? When are you going to choke on a piece of cheese? When is Morgan going to grow a pair? So many questions and no answers...sigh...
Piers your an irresponsible and really don't know what your talking about. How can you call Michael Moore a trouble maker at least 10 times on your show and praise the tea party as being a normal grass roots organization?? The same small fringe of radical morons to come down the political pike!!! They want to shut the government down again for the third time but I didn't hear you mention anything about that or the other destructive and outrageous behavior of these traitors of America! It seems to me that CNN has become less of keeping anyone "HONEST" and seems to me to be slanting to the right. So if your going to attack someone on your show maybe you should do some fact checking of your own like your guest Michael Moore has done for all of his career! Maybe you could learn something from the man!!
Rich Sottilaro
sorry people Michael Moore is a hypocrite. on one hand he says how bad we americans are for having the death penalty, on the other hand he applauds his buddy Obama for using US resource to go in an murder Osama Bin Laden. murder is murder and justice is justice. michael moore ( the executed one) received justice. allegedly he was abused, life was tough for him. was it fair what he got? good question. was the victim, he murdered, treated fairly? did she deserve what she got, maybe not. hard to imagine but someone out there would tell us osama bin laden was abused and was taught from a young age to do what he did. as an american i cant express sympathy for his actions, i believe justice was served. michael moore only cares about what is good for him, usually at the expense of some other group or individual.
Couldn't agree with you more! Michael Moore is a hypocrite.
CAPITALISM AT ITS FINEST.
Michael Moore is against the death penalty and has said many times that Osama should have been captured and brought to justice with a trial... do your research before making false allegations.

CNN must be as desperate as Obama to have someone as dangerously uninformed of the truth as Michael Moore as a guest.
What has MM said that wasn't the truth?
Michael Moore is a personal hero of mine. He and Bill Maher are really the only people in the media intelligent enough to see the truth and articulate it.
TWO OF THE BIGGEST WACK JOBS THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN IN YEARS!
whack jobs only to the ones who want to keep the blinders on.
No I keep my blinders on Sarah so i don't see those ugly SOB's. I am sorry they, like you, probably had a very difficult time growing up and must take it out on those who don't live life with a chip on their shoulder but you'll never understand. I just keep my ear plugs in so I don't have to listen to the fabricated bull crap they come up with to make money off the desperate piece of the population... IE YOU. Gotta love capitalism you poor saps.
Americans are finally starting to peel away the culture of Wall Street-and see what a rotten onion it is! I think Michael Moore nailed the prevailing mood quite well. For the past decade, particularly, Wall Street and a complicit Congress have pushed such practices as outsourcing and rampant free-trade on the country... the consequences of which are as plain as butterless bread: many Americans out of work. If anyone wants to know why many of our folks are on food stamps, etc., they have only to examine some of the tax loopholes which encourage the hemorrhaging of jobs.
Cripe, I'd also add if anyone wants to look into why so many Americans are on food stamps they only need to follow the money. Oh yes, everything has a money trail, even welfare. Who profits when people are on food stamps? Well JP Morgan for one. Go ahead trolls, google it. I'll wait.
I just wanted share my appreciation for reporting on this matter. The mainstream has been a little reluctant on covering this and I'm very surprised that a heavy weight like Piers is covering it on national TV. Michael your right, this will spread across the country and the rest of the world. We the people have had enough of the corruption that runs rampid in our land. Thank you Piers and Michael for shining some light on this.
Warmest Regards,
Mike
You must mean Moore the heavy weight right? When i look at the recent Tv ratings... the only person Morgan is beating on his time slot is Dr. Drew.... Hannity.. who is just as obnoxious has 3x the viewers. Does anyone out there religiously follow this show? Would anyone admit to that?

Michael though i don't agree with you on some issues. You hit it out of the part tonite. LOVED>>>LOVED how you said what i've been saying for months. We have been losing jobs, homes, retirement and much more for a few years. Obama has not showed up once to address at least the housing crisis. Secure the Americian people minds on what they can do during this crisis. I do not want to see him giving the ole pep talk now. Thank you so much for addressing this.
Piers, Thank you for your fair and honest interview with Michael Moore tonight. Usually you are a self-serving, pedantic and superficial interviewer, but tonight you (mostly) reached beyond your own ego for a change and for once served your prime time slot audience well. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new trend. Kudos again, old chap!
Michael Moore is such a moron. If he thinks that everyone should be taken care of, then he should take care of them his riches. I, however, do not believe the government has the right to demand that I pay more in taxes to take care of the poor in this country. The majority of the poor are poor because they refused to get an education or act in prudent manner. They rather sit around and do drugs while living on my tax dollars!
All murders, drug dealers, and rapists should be put to death upon conviction.
You are clearly un educated on the matter, are you aware that 1% of our country owns more money than the other 99% combined? Look it up. The 450 richest people in the country could sufficiently feed every starving person in the world. Did you know those 450 people didn't pay any taxes last year?
I don't care how much someone else makes. If they earned it, they deserve to do whatever they please with it. People should be able to make as much money as possible and the govenment should have no say what is too much and what is not. Everyone is responsible for their own lives. If someone can't earn a living, that person has no one to blame but themself. The government doesn't owe me a thing and that's the way it should be. If I wanted the government to take care of me, I would move to Cuba or Europe.

Eric, put down the crack pipe and pay closer attention to your typing.
Oh yeah, the thing I love best about this string of comments is the way no one will even acknowledge Alex's existence. (Ok, other than me just then, but I promise to go right back to ignoring him completely along with all of you). Great work...keep it up, brothers and sisters, it's precisely what trolls deserve.

I was pleased to see other replies here condemning your prissy, self agrandizing ineffective interviewing method. Get a real job
Americans are becoming Anonymous faster than Bernanke can print money... Ahhhhhh.. its a GREAT day in America! First time I've been able to say that in YEARS! Goes to show you how pathetic our "leadership" is in the political, business, and financial sectors, when the greatest ray of hope for our Nation, and our world lies in a group that began as a group of hackers. (Not to in any way meant to disrespect Anonymous) Washington, Wall St... Times up. We want our country back. EXPECT US!
Thank you Piers Morgan for interview Michael Moore.
Please free media from the chain of depiction for a safer America. Why is our country being run by foreign government? Lets hear the names of all the bankers from Wall Street, Federal Reserve and all the CEO that are controlling our government into this puppet stage of incompetency. Iran is not our real enemy but they are sure the paranoia we are fed to distract us from the truth.

THANK YOU MICHAEL! What a great interview! Thanks for finally calling out The RICH REPUBLICANS and their hypocrisy! Please RIGHT WING REPUBS, STOP CALLING YOURSELF CHRISTIANS! Just spout the truth about what you guys believe in GREED! GREED! GREED! What would Jesus do? "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you posses, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven."[ Matthew 19:21]
Hey Piers stop interrupting your guests!
Corporate owned media like CNN is deliberating avoiding coverage of these protest. They won't bat an eye to show you protest all over the world, but they won't show you whats going on right here on US soil. WHY? I'll try to post a link to what's happening, but as you know everything is "Waiting for moderation" on this website. http://rt.com/news/wall-street-protest-arrests-331/
It's always good to hear Michel air his views.
@ Doug
I tend to agree with what you have to say. This nation of ours is being held hostage by foreign lobbies & big business. What has begun at Wall Street shows Americans' discontent with the system. Hope we gather courage to stand up to the foreign lobbies operating on our soil in the guise of allies.
no change will ever come in this country without first outlawing all foreign and domestic corporate/special interest lobbying. why this isn't the first and only goal of the occupy movement, i don't understand. it's big money from coprorate lobbys that keep the career politicians in office, who will continue to sell out the 99%. i see protesters carrying signs with dozens of different calls for reform of this tax and that spending. reminds me of the antiwar protesters in '03 who used the streets convey opions such as free palestine/tibet etc., and by trying to convince ignorant americans that 9/11 was an inside job. That's too much for people to swallow at once. This movement will crumble under its own weight due to lack of direction and wall street can wait it out because of one word.....WINTER!
Michael. Please contact me at my e-mail address that I give Piers permission to allow you. In America we also have murders, crimes against humanity and much more. The Obamas are vengeful bigots. In retaliation to the Scott sisters who were imprisoned because they are criminals and lost her kidney due to obesity, the Obamas are retaliating against my and made certain that I lost my only kidney. This was done with the intent to wage a war among the races. They had to power to prevent it all but refuse.
To make profits on the suffering of others is degenerate activity. To purposely bet against the failure of a loan, a mortgage, a presidency, a pension plan, social safety-nets, etc...Is nihilistic activity and unjust! The People are NOT irrelevant, as the Wall St. moguls would have us believe! Corporations are NOT The People!
Wall St would have you believe that what you're doing with your money is 'INVESTING" . Its become a video game
with day traders and huckstering the bouncing ball. Money is made from the last guy out bagholders ....its the only way money is made is from the amateurs they sucker into getting into it. Wall st occupation is the real Tea Party and that cop

Michael is right, but he didnt quite go far enough. Capitalism, where the rich get richer and everyone else gets, well, less is not what we inherited from God, the creator of the known universe. We were never told to make as much money as you can and step on and hold everyone else down; no no, we were told 2000 years ago By yes, as Michael mentioned, Jesus and many other wonderful humane prophets of Earths history, that being rich wasnt about money or what you owned, but indeed spreading the humane and humble word of god and in some doing not have more than you need and definitely not letting anyone live in poverty or sheer filth, as so many do today. We need a 'resource based' economy, where lawyers, doctors, laborers and everyone 'share' the bounties of mother earth that god bestowed on all of us, do what each does best, and never worry again about clean water, a roof over your head, food in your mouth or being healthy in every way or having running water or electricity. THe basis of life are not a priviledge, they are a god given right that no one can take away, except for the elite rich , who thinks they hold some golden key to life. They do not, and they need to be reminded what a true person of god really is. It is time to revolt against capitalism and demand justice for all.

Michael Moore is an inspiration for those whole feel disempowered and defeated – with no place to go – to speak out – to fight back and be heard. Our 1st amendment rights have been slowly striped from us. Recent examples are the lost of local community public access cable channels due to political gamesmanship. Examples: St. Petersburg Pinellas County Florida's Access Pinellas Cable Channel and just recently Asheville Buncombe County North Carolina's URTV public access cable channe. These are outrages and direct attacks stopping peole to come together inside of community to speak openly on issues and concerns in our locak communities. The time has come to take action to make redresses in this country for the people by and by the people.
B-A-R-F
Michael Moore put it succinctly. Our nation is going against its own essential values with its current style of capitalism.
For shame. These days it feels more like we are moving towards being a third world country with our backwards
behavior. Time to bring back decency. Put us on Michael Moore's mailing list and send us follow-up comments.
Thanks for bringing issues and perspective out in public. If nothing else, at least we know we aren't nuts or radicals with our experiences and opinions. Thanks Michael Moore, very much!!!!!
He has been talking about financial crisis in the World. He is awesome
We admire Michael for standing up in support for moral values. He says, immediately after 9/11, he would have done exactly the same thing that President Obama did, which is hunt down Osama Bin Laden and execute him. To me this view contradicts with his views on capital punishment in Texas.
Michael says in his younger years, he was always trying to protect smaller or weaker boys from school bullies. I would have expected Michael to say that after 9/11, I would try and find out the root cause of this anger against Americans and try and bring justice to that cause, rather than look for the criminal and shoot him in Texas style. That may not be the solution to the root cause.
Piers Morgan this link has very interesting information on the monetary policies of the recent past and so on our situation and these are affairs that fit in with the Michel Moore imterveiw. The round table is about how damaging the present economic theories in fashion are, those that inform the world, bank and such, to the economise of countries in which they are implemented, those that accept loans off the IMF, how the conditions the IMf impose are the coup de grace for the countries they lend money too. Also those participating in this round table of Aljazeeras presenter Marwan Bishara in his program empire, are people that you might also usefully interveiw yourself. http://english.aljazeera.net/programmes/empire/2011/08/20118483924329911.html
Great interveiw. rose macaskie.
Peirs Morgan, I forgot to say that i dont think the violent manifestations in London were simply criminals running wild, I think the parents of the children rioting have to be pretty cross with the situation in England for so many of their children to feel free to run riot like that, to lose all respect for the law. It just sooths the counsciouse of the more well to do parts of society to imagine this is not connected to their conduct that the rioters were simply exhibiting bad behavior, that they were not a comment of the bad behavior of the rulling and rich parts of society. rose macaskie.
After being sold to China, this country has become 'the land of the fees and the home of the slaves' with a 'government of the rich, for the rich and by the rich'. I miss the old America!!!
The reason that the the majority of the Young People have lost their voice is because there is no more Military Draft, they have gained unlimited computer time to live in their virtual world and they still at "home". They have nothing to fight for. They will come back to us when the "home" is gone, their bellies are empty and they will be forced to act.
God bless Mr. Moore for trying very hard to wake people up from their semicomatose state.

Where would we be without companies, huh? Ya gonna walk to work without a car? Bake your own bread? Do your own laundry in the creek? Oh dont forget your cell phones, ipoddies, and other gadgets...
could not agree more with you ken - these idiots need to give back every convenience that a corporation has afforded them– it is pretty clear that this is a movement stirred up by liberals - Micheal Moore should thank his lucky stars that he has made milllions in this country – no where else in the world could he make money like that – and then belittle the USA – I am soooo sick of him – go to Europe and pay huge income taxes - CNN – stop having that idot on your channel –
Nice ken. Give it time. When your unemployed you don't need to drive to work. I can bake bread, I just cant buy it. I can wash my clothes in creek (its just polluted). I have a lifeline not a cell phone (in the hopes that some employer will offer me one). The rest of the gadgets are nice to see in the magazines at the local library (on scaled back hours). Personally I am proud of the people in the street....as things are.....they need to speak up at the top of their voices.
How about these numbers?
The 2010 budget of the United States Government is $3.456 trillion (or 24% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)), supported by $2.162 trillion in tax revenues (15% of the GDP). This budget is controlled by 535 Representatives and Senators, plus the President, Secretary of the Treasury and other administration officials.
So, 0.0002% of the population controls this rather large sector of the economy. If we consider that the 2,000,000 federal civilian employees "control" the expenditures, then the percentage is 0.67.
(Budget numbers are from the CBO.)
to piers and mike, let me just say that one of the biggest problems in our society and what is killing this country is GREED !!! greed by the most powerful - money people that want to consume and control as much as possible. when is enough -enough ??? it is like a sickness, they do not know when to stop and they ( the rich ) con not control them selfs. the only way to fix their brain is with professional help from a doctor. GREED IS THEIR SICKNESS ! i think we should tax the hell out of millionaires and take away the greed /power incentive after a person reaches a net worth of 2.5 million dollars. WHAT DO YOU THINK ? until we can provide help to fix this sickness nothing will ever change. the rich need medical help.
If you think we are in trouble today, read this:

This is truly a World movement. This is a World Movement, http://girlfromdetroit.blogspot.com~ China, Spain and London. Words from Arianna Huffington: I was in Spain on October 15th when half a million took to the streets of Madrid to voice their frustration with a political system that has failed the people of Spain - in the same way our own "Los Indignados" (Spanish for "The Outraged") are voicing their anger and frustration at a system that has failed the "99 percent" here in America. I was struck by how family-oriented the protests were. But when I looked at how the media covered them, instead of the thousands of families and children and retirees who marched in towns all across Spain, what dominated the airwaves were burning cars from the protest in Rome - which was hijacked by a coterie of masked anarchists. Just as solutions to the problems facing Europe and America are not going to be found in traditional political ways, the truth of what's happening is not going to be found in traditional media coverage either.

Hello Pierse,
I'm looking forward to your interview with Michael Moore this evening. I have seen his interview by Karl Quintania, of CNBC a few days ago and so agree w. Michael's explanation why demonstrating in Wall Street is the right location vs. going to Washington since the money supply for our mercenary politicians comes from Wall Street. Being in favor of a flat tax which would lose hundreds of lobbyists their jobs, does Michael plan to demonstrate in K Street also? Our president and the democratic congress never kept their promise of getting rid of pork and lobbyists, so we need to remind him again. This would be an appropriate opportunity.
Thank you!
It is so hilarious to see people that have not had the vision for being successful trying to justify it by saying that it is unfair because they didn't have the struck of brilliance to make lots of money. Recently I learned that if you get food stamps...you can also get a cell phone ... Is this really necessary? We are breeding a country where success is condemened...I have a solution....why people that dont believe in Capitalism move to North Korea or China...maybe that way this country will move forward and become what it once was!
Pierce, be a grander man and stop the commercial ads during the interview. Out of respect to Michael and us. That may impress not just him.
Cheers
When the tea party did a movement...Michael Moore said that it was a whole bunch of racist and that they should not be allowed to say anything...but now....well...the movement is perfect according to him....WHAT A LOOSER!!!!!!
You want to promote democracy, let your audience vote on it and see what happens. 🙂
Greece has FREE Education, however, the country cannot absorb all the Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, etc. and are forced to leave the country and get a job elsewhere. When the goverment pays for education, as it is in Greece, kids are not able to fnish on a timely basis from all the Strikes all over the country.
Some of the blame is with US Consumers. We need to be ok with paying more for manufactured products. A work in China gets 64 cents an hour vs. 21 USD an hour for a US worker. So are we willing to pay that percentage increase on an iphone or an ipad that are manufactured in China?
Mr. Moore made a factual error moments ago, talking about how in different countries if you want to get and education or be a doctor, it's free, and gave Canada as an example. It costs close to 100,000 dollars in medical tuition just for the 4 years, not to mention the poor salary 6 years after that working insane hours. I know what point he was making, but it was an inaccurate example. Canadian undergraduate tuitions are however much much lower than the US which is a very valid point.
You can't blamed the bankers and CEOs, you have to blamed the system call Capitalism. This is the system that illusion that you have the best democracy in the world but is more the best democracy money can buy.
This is the system that teach you, "survival of the fittest" when Darwinism meant it for animals/beast. The person that best puts it is George Carlin – The American Dream.
great live discussion on mike moore and the state of us...i say he makes sense to many, he is but one voice but has the volume, sentiment, and backing of so many americans; he has got lots of support....has an "army"- maybe he doesn't want the politics of capitalism but he sure can organize and I say "Come on Mike- Help us – Occupy America for the American Dream....take one on the chin – you can help the country say enuf!!!
I hope that one day, American corporations realize, the it was the people of America that made them the billions of profits.
One day it will cost to much to ship the wiggets that are made China, those jobs will have to return to the USA.
thanks derek, Ont Canada
That is Global corporations not American corporations.
Let me teach you all a little bit of American History. after the Great Depression, the tax rate was at 90% around the 1930s, 1970s was around 50%, and wages was parallel with productivity. Meaning the more you work the more you had in wages. it wasn't after Richard Nixon went to China to break a deal with China, you produce and we buy it. Well after the 1970s all jobs have been outsource to all the emerging markets. Currently Tax rate are in the 35%, go figure, tell me why we are in a budget deficit, the rich has won the class warfare. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out, oh i forgot, education have gone down the drain that's why many us forget about American History.
The housing problem could last for another 30-40 years if we follow the republican approach. I remember climbing and playing in abandoned (unoccupied-bank owned) homes in small town Missouri (in the 1960's). nice fun as a kid. They counted for about 50% of the town. Today most have been claimed by rot and/or fire. The only businesses in town in the 60's were a clinic, 2) 5&dimes, a gas station, a small school. Today there is a gas station and nothing. given time this is what we will see.
WOW – here is someone who really doesn't get it. He won't confirm that he is in the top 1% and believes that americans have no responsibility associated with the current meltdown... come on. Are we all willing to listen to Michael Moore tell all Americans that we are too stupid to understand that we shouldn't by a $400,000 house if we make $40,000 a year! Let's be real the issues that we are in are due to all of us, Government, Corporations, Banks, irresponsible people GREED.
You talk about our current adminstration, who by all rights inheritted a burning house... but instead to add a porch to that burning house for the first 180 days in office OBAMA CARE... are you serious.
Now we think we are going to fix everything through over-regulation. Good luck – the regulation that existed before was being administered by people who don't even understand the products. So now we are going to add even more regulation that everyone is still trying to figure out... here is a novel idea. do simple regulation and do it right.
Micheal Moore is a hypocrite! he makes money exploiting all of the issues people who are trying to make it his solutions don't do anything but push blame to everyone else and always the indivduals who have made money are to blame.

A well-timed program. One thought – when Merrill Lynch walks away from tens of millions of dollars in mortgages and rents, it is called a "business decision". When a homeowner makes the same decision to walk away, they are castigated and treated as a lowlife.
And perhaps it underscores the irrelevance of the current credit scoring industry...
A country without a solid middle class is a country without democracy and the corporations know it by turning elections into auctions.
Call it what it is, the corp's and the GOP say 'Class Warfare' but it's MASS WARFARE carefully planned by those very same sources.
There is one failure in Anerican Industry that has not been discussed. Industry is no longer run by people that know manufacturing. It is now run and fully controlled by financial people that are driven by improving the bottom line by the end of the day. Mike is right about the beginning of the downfall 30 yrs ago.
You guys at CNN should devote more air time to this kind of program instead of some of the most ridiculous interviews you have been doing. We need more than an hour to discuss jobs or the lack thereof including the mortgage problem. My house is 'underwater' will I be able to refinance if there is no Fannie Mae or Freddie Mack. I have never been late on my mortgage but at my age I will never be able to pay this interest-only mortgage off under this condition. Will call Chase tomorrow to find out. I thank you for your time.
Michael......is it my imagination or have things come to a full stop in congress ever since the earmarks to congressional billls been stopped. If we could give some earmarks to key Republicans, I bet the jobs bill would pass
Question to Michael just raised by Piers "Will raising taxes on the wealthy make a difference? I have worked for the very wealthy American yacht owners. The general public does not realize that since the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy the yachts that they purchase have become larger and larger and many now own multiple yachts worldwide, never mind how many homes they may also own. How many yacht do you need? Obviously many think that one is not enough. It is over the top, just google FLIBS (Fort Lauderdale Boat Show) to see some of these OTT yachts. I know for a fact that this growth in US citzenship yacht ownership is a direct reflection of these beneficial tax cuts to the wealthy. These yacht owners also use loop holes in US tax avoidance by registering these mega yachts offshore like in the Cayman Islands. In addition THEY OFTEN DO NOT EMPLOY AMERICAN CREW and they do not care. Point is, they have manipulated the system for more personal gain and not to benefit jobs creation or reinvestment into our great nation. So I have been witness "up close and personal" to the evolution of this and can see that the Republican views of not taxing the wealthy will not imporve the economy nor will it create more jobs. The wealthy, for the most part, will just spend the extra $$ they have on themselves.
Thank you Piers. This is the BEST program I've ever watched in a LOOONG time. America needs a lot more of these programs, were we can have healthy adult conversations and create win-win solutions. I applaud CNN for hosting these types of "conversations" and I hope that other TV networks follow suit. These subjects are too important and urgent. Thank you again
Just 2 things
Healthcare ... Get the Insurance Companies out of it ... PERIOD!
As far as the upper 1% ... OK thy only have 1% of the vote ... unfortunately they own 100% of both major parties. We need a healthy 3rd Party ... and 4th ... and 5th ... and ... we need some choice!
OK, this was a great show!!! NOW about the 99% - You are being heard BUT your voices won't matter unl;ess you go to the polls. IF you vote then things will change. If not, well then, we are stuck and it will be more of the same. So take "personal responsibility," get out there and occupy the voting booths in the next election !!!!!!!
I do not agree with M Moore that 100% blame is on the corporate side. Congressmen have a choice of not accepting money. They responsibility is to society and not corporations. If they accept thay are the part of bribery. According to current law those who take money are een more in fault then those who give.
Why not reform the way we elect politicians? Do away with the professional lobbyists doling out money in all parts of government.
Michael Moore is half right. That’s why you don't listen to someone who speaks half truths. The reason why Canada pays for there Doctors is nationwide healthcare. That is the reason why Canadians head south when they need a good doctor. There is no "Natural Selection" where the best doctors make it through. Let’s not forget that Cain said himself that if we had nationwide healthcare he would have died. I have multiple friends that have become doctors coming from poor homes. GM has to go out of the country. What Michael didn't tell you is people like his dad had to fill a subpar quota then sit down and was paid to do nothing. The Unions put the workers against the company. A house divided cannot stand and the Unions divide the house of GM. GM was too big and couldn’t stand with 8 brands. He needs to stick to films. People need to be responsible for themselves it isn’t the government job, you should be responsible for yourself. Clinton killed the economy with NAFTA. Which sucked the jobs out of the US and into Canada and Mexico.
Michael Moore you are now officially invited to South Carolina! Can't you focus on personal responsibility without blaming some dark shadowy figure called corporate America? What happened to "Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country!" Exactly how many of the Wall Street unemployed protestors have iphones or laptops etc etc etc? If you have a valid worry about losing your home or not being able to afford to go to school, ok. If you are paying $150 or more a month for a cell phone, you might want to change your priorities. As for corporate America not paying taxes, look it up do your research – how much does corporate America pay do have to deal with all of the federal regulations they have to deal with? You might want to ask how much they would have to pay due to regulations in say China or India. I think in a year, more people will remember and be a part of the Tea Party than the 60's wannabe's around the country.
America's problems are structural . Michael is write it started back in the eighties. There is no time left to play politics. Any and all policies need to be passed immediately to start reversing the trend. Democrats and Republicans have to listen to these protests and realize it is bi partisan for the good of America. America is hurting and the worst is yet to come. The Goldmans and the J P MOrgans have abandoned ship with all your cash. Where are they? The are in Hong Kong SIngapore Dubai that's where.
Regarding getting people back to work. The old demographic is no longer there .During the Reagan years the demographics were different , they are now consumer services based jobs rather than industrial manufacturing based. So all the money is sucked out of the system. So much so that even the consumer has nothing left.Americas economic system is exhausted of funds.
Geitner has now admitted on TV we are on the edge of a Depression forget the "R" word.
Wake up America
As an individual who has experienced some of the hardships that affect many i would love the opportunity to debate someone like Michael Moore so that people could actually understand that he loves capitalism and he loves misery and he profits from the evil in the world...he is an example of all the bad that is reflected in rock n roll...the generational shifts of reality...i have given my email so if this debate is possible i am available
Better to march in the streets now than fight in them later. I refuse to accept the excuse that the downfall of the middle class is happening in other countries. it is not happening in China or many other countries. It is happening because politicians sold their souls and sold us out to corporate interests, not because we lack the resources or ingenuity to grow our economy.
Well as a victim of slick accounting I can say with clarity that the banks do not like giving you back YOUR money...lol..
so it seems to me America needs to take back the banks and start acting like you own it...because you do...America has been brainwashed to give it's powers away...and your money...I guess you don't mind if they steal from you...
Tresa from Arkansas
I could only invest money. I could only borrow money. The rules they made. They got the bailout.
Then we turn around and sue them for working with appraisers and manipulating the market so we all had to borrow more money than our houses were actually worth.
Thank you for your clear and fair interview with Mr. Michael Moore. I herald MM because he takes a powerful stand on issues. He helps the world with their lack of critical thinking and assessing deeply our situation here in America. Piers this is the kind of discussion that we need to hear and address on your show. This are the times in our American History, this is what needs to be brought up constantly and discuss all the time until America gets it drill in there heads.
I so enjoyed the program tonight! Michael Moore captured the way I feel perfectly and I am a middle class white married woman living in a very republican state. I have felt like a minority and it's scary that few really understand the issues at hand. Thank you Piers for having Michael on the show. I look forward to more like this one!
Itr is very easy for someone like Michael Moore who has a net worth of over 50 million $ to pretend he understands being poor and understands the plight of the poor person today. A phoney. Sorry folks....but he made his money on your backs. Michael ...row ashore and please bring the boat with you.
Ron – he is a BILLIONAIRE talking about the poor – what hypocrisy – what is wrong with some of yo people – The Emperor has no clothes on"
It was Ronald Reagan & Margaret Thatcher who pushed for deregulation, Canada refused Reagan's urgings Those regulations were introduced following the great depression by Pres. Roosevelt who was determined Americans would never go through such devastation again. When Reagan urged Canada to join in the great experiment embraced by himself & Thatcher, the Cdn government refused; no foreclosures, bank failures or bankrupt investment houses in Cda, & no we aren't socialist, our government is Consevative centrist. Americans have a responsibility to read & research the policies put to them during elections. It seems if one is a good talker like M Moore, & is chrismatic that's the criteria for election success. Moore engages in half truths or his own perceptions which are not factual but sound good.
Shouldnt Americans start off by buying American products, cars, clothes etc. that would help in bringing jobs back. It's easy to say that the corporations should not move overseas. Why don't the consumers buy American?
Michael Moore's cap is probably made in Asia.....I bet
Nice to finally see some coverage & discussion on Occupy Wall Street in particular by Michael Moore who has always focused on what's wrong in this country. I hope everyone's aware that media has only done superficial coverage of this movement since media is owned/controlled by wealthy corporations/individuals for the most part and they like their current lifestyle, thank you very much. These same individuals & corporations (including Wall Street brokers, banks, mortgage companies, etc.) fund the political campaigns that keep our dysfunctional government representatives in their comfortable, powerful & well-connected jobs. It's a symbiotic relationship: politicians need the wealthy individuals and corporations for expensive campaigns so neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have any incentive to change current situation. Do you honestly think they care about the majority of US citizens (the 99%). The answer is to publicly fund political campaigns, prohibit all the lobbying that goes on and to enforce our laws and regulations on ALL citizens. If our citizens were smart, they would turn off their TVs, computers, cell phones, etc. and stop buying other than essentials – now they would make a statement.
Good show Piers. Michael Moore, good job. Isn't it sad that Michael is the guru of common sense. The yogi of reason.
The pope of seeing through the 3 lbs short of a full load we the American people get fed to us by Corporate America.
The integrity of our people we have put our trust into has failed us miserably and now there are riots in the streets because people are fed up. Where are the politicians, why aren't they sitting there in place of Michael saying the things that speak the truth and real solutions. The issue that never comes up is the fact. Our Smart Grid technology is deadly and will wipe millions of people. The microwave spectrum is leaking into our environment. Millions can hear the pollution and many more can feel negative impact. The utilities are unable to contain the transmission of these radiio frequencies. It is ubiquitous where the Smart Grid infrastructure is in place. Visit http://www.sandaura.wordpress.com to learn more.
This technology is untested, unproven, no standards, oversight, not enough qualified technicians to manage it. People are complaining about the noise pollution and are being stonewalled by the regulatory agencies. The wildlife is disappearing and dying from the intrusion of this leakage in to our environment. We are in deep doo doo.
Piers, I think you had some nerve pushing Michael Moore on his income level. First of all that has nothing to do with any good point about the issue...what relevance would it have one way or the other? Michael himself made that point to you as you were pushing him into some rediculous corner. The man has been successful for opening up discussion and debate on the difficult truths the general media has been reluctant to report or afraid of. The other side has vilified him for it. I'm sick of boring hacks who decide to make him a 'punching bag' just for the sake of it. And yes, when you practice that kind of interviewing, you are a boring hack. Goodnight.
Michael Moore is a BILLIONAIRE – he is listed on many sites that track wealth as one of the richest in Hollywood – are you people nuts? He's either a total sociopath or totally demented – his financial portfolio reveals that he has thousands of shares in the companies that he is "fighting" against - talk about the "emperor has no clothes on" – amazing what some people will swallow.
Its interesting to me who people think the 1%ers are. Pierce even said Michael Moore was one...Trust me the 1%ers are not anyone who makes a million dollars. The 1%ers are the oil barons, the industrialists the big shots at GE, EXXON, DOW Chemical, Haliburton...The Dick Chaney's of the world in their black suits responsible for wars, polluting the Gulf, ruining our water, raping the land for profit....The guys we don't see unless they want us to see them, the nice ones like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates we see all of the time, they are the few with a concience. The 1%ers are the men in the black suits that run everything. Congress, the courts, the President even the press are their stooges, the menutia that keep us all confused and believing we have a say so they can keep it all going.
Me, I said I
"He doesn't collect it in banks and hoard it up, he acts too. All proceeds from his book sold in Georgia will go to project innocence, as an example. Quit trolling."
How do you know what Michael Moore does with his money? I found on the internet that he takes his BILLIONS and invests it in the same companies he is protesting against. His financial portfolio is full of the very companies like GE, IBM, Microsoft etc that he says is screwing us. HE is screwing us. The proceeds from one book is a pittance of his wealth but that behavior "looks good" to liberals that just can't believe MM and Obama would do that – ha! Just like the story that Obama gave money to some poor folks out of his little account – the news blasted that too – hey he has managed to amass a fortune since being in office – ever wonder about that?
To Daniel Koch ... Dear Mr. Edumacated....
what you wrote below is more than incorrect; it is the epitome of ignorance and pomposity – You are fear mongering and playing God. I have far more education than you; my family is one of the most educated I know – all MDs and PhDs and architects, geologist, Superintendent of Schools, school principals, university teachers and on and on. We disagree with Obama and his polices. When will you "lost in space people" ever get over yourselves? By the way, Rhodes and Fulbright come to mind in the context of my family ....capisce?
this is from Koch...........
Druma,
You said it 100% perfectly CORRECT!
Hi Piers
Could you have suck up any harder to dear Micky Moore?? Next time man up and ask a real question like hey Mike you talk a great talk about how the great USA .....by the way that HAT your wearing. Where was it made???? PIERS now thats a real question. Answer......CHINA. MAN UP PIERS.
HAT?? Everything he is wearing is probably made in China. The sad fact is that most things that Americans wear, use, drive is made in China or India.... Or Europe for that matter BMW's, Porsch, Mercs... When are Americans going to buy American to get the jobs back and kick start the economy??
Michael Moore read this:
Conservatism and Liberalism – and a Redistribution of Wealth.
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.
Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch conservative, a feeling she openly expressed.
Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs.
The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 60% average, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because
she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?"
She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 40% average. College for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."
Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 10% off your average and give it to your friend who only has 40%. That way you will both have 50% and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution."
The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the conservative side of the fence."
If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, here are some revealing truths !
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns banned.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk-show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like, be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a conservative decides he needs health care , he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he's "offended."
Well, I forwarded it to you.
This interview was good.
People view this various ways – MM is part of the 1% and he uses the people to make his billions while protesting against it – MM is just gathering numb nuts to give him agreement that he is one of the good guys in the hood which he isn't – his financial portfolio shows thousands of stocks in the various companies that he is protesting – he one of the most blatant hypocrites I have ever heard. So he shifts the blame onto everyone – I buy stock options which is money being made off money – so what? I lost I win – it's like a big parlor game. Moore just sounds great to come of the lost liberals who have nothing to stand on – sure wouldn't be standing on what he says – he is a con and a poser. He makes billions doing his thing – I sure won't be one that will go see his next piece of garbage –
