Need To Know News: Knox verdict coming; Perry's hunting issues

Each day, we here at "Piers Morgan Tonight" put together the news you need to know – from what happened last night to what will happen today.

For October 3, 2011 – Knox, Perry, Cheney and a Nobel dilemma...

• A verdict in the Amanda Knox trial is expected later today: "Nearly four years after she was arrested on suspicion of having killed her roommate in this picturesque Italian university town, Amanda Knox pleaded with a jury Monday to overturn her conviction for murder."

• Gov. Rick Perry is dealing with the fallout from some issues with his old hunting grounds: "A front-page Washington Post story Sunday exposed the eyebrow raising name of a hunting camp leased and frequented by Perry and his father. "N*****head" was painted across a rock at the gated entrance of the property, according to the report. But Team Perry was quick to clarify the account, issuing a harsh statement early Sunday morning after CNN contacted the campaign."

Dick Cheney wants an apology from Pres. Barack Obama: "Former Vice President Dick Cheney praised the Obama administration Sunday for using a drone strike to kill American-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, but said President Barack Obama should now reverse past criticism of former President George W. Bush's actions against suspected terrorists."

• A Nobel prize winner died just days before his award was announced: "The news - which the Nobel committee was apparently unaware of when it announced the winners Monday - presents a unique quandary for the prestigious organization. Nobel rules prohibit awarding a prize posthumously unless the winner dies after the award is announced."

• And the cable news line-up shifts tonight – Erin Burnett's new CNN show "OutFront" premieres at 7pmET. Here's Piers Morgan crashing the set during rehearsal.

where is the line between naïveté and arrogance? As a former US exchange student in Italy, I agree with everything that Dr. Drew said about Amanda Knox. You cannot behave in Perugia the way you did (do) in Seattle. If she did not know that before she went, someone (her parents??) failed. And as for the blonde former prosecutor, before she cites the names of non-US publications, she should learn how to pronoounce them. Not bothering to do so is another form of arrogance and lack of respect. In Italy, and elsewhere around the world, we are fed up

Could you please stop cutting off your guests in the middle of their responses? It would be so nice to hear their full response without you interrupting their response. Thank you!

Piers Morgan. Your question to Joel Osteen as to whether or not he could vote for a Mormon seems to reveal a lack of tolerance on your part! In a country made up of hundreds of different religious sects and churches, it seems incredulous that you should betray such a bias. Perhaps it is just a typical Democrat effort to create fear and doubt in someone in order to distract people away from the the very real problems we're facing under a failed Obama presidency. I think you may have lost me tonight as a viewer. Too bad. I was just starting to like your show. Phyllis C
