Joel Osteen: "We stand with the Israeli people. Our hearts go out to the Palestinian people as well"
Pastor and author Joel Osteen is the guest on "Piers Morgan Tonight" for the hour, and he talks about whether he could ever see himself voting for a Jewish president. "Sure I could vote for a Jewish candidate, that's how our faith was started," he tells Piers Morgan. How about a Muslim president? "I think I could [but] 90% of America is Christian so I'm pretty sure I'd find somebody that more shares my beliefs."
Osteen also talked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"It's a difficult situation," said Osteen. "We stand with the Israeli people. Our hearts go out to the Palestinian people as well."
Osteen's wife, Victoria Osteen, talked about their recent trip to Israel. "The people are very solid, they're very peaceful," she said. "We found it fascinating."

Hi Doc. I would just like to say that I agree with you. Mr Osteen never commits himself completely to anything important, for fear of losing followers, which means MONEY to him. He is a 100% fraud. Jesus Christ said 'you cannot serve me & mammon' Mr Osteen is a multimillionaire. He believes ONLY in MONEY, and nothing else. A true Christian was Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She got her hands dirty, and she worked directly with the poor, and made NO money. I doubt if Osteen even believes in God. Mark.
Piers: How did you let Mr. Osteen off the hook about capital punishment? You should've asked him, "What would you have done when they put Jesus to death?" Wasn't He a victim of capital punishment at the hand of liars?
I feel Piers continued to attack Victoria in particular. He would talk on top of her without hearing her full comment for most of the program. Disrespectful.
Why doesn't Joel change his view because society has changed? Because God's Word is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Joel's refusal to make a definitive statement is equally Biblical in not judging. We are to judge sin.
Since when did interviewing consist totally of pinning interviewee to the wall on every controversial subject possible. Piers showed no respect. Maybe Larry King could teach him how to conduct a professional interview.
Very disappointed in Joel Olsteen. A man of God, with a huge following, to claim not to know about the Mormon religion, shows incredible ignorance! A man of his stature, has an obligation to know the basic values and tenants of the wolds major religions. He is either ignorant or avoiding. A disappointment. I used to think highly of him.

Exactly, Piers did a good job in trying to get Osteen to answer any controversial question. Osteen avoided every question – not what Jesus would do.

Piers is a moron and will try and get his guests to say something controversial just for the publicity instead of letting them tell their own stories. The garbage about the death penalty is abysmal. When people stop murdering millions of unborn children every year who have 100% never committed a crime vs a couple hundred who have not only been proved to have committed a major atrocity, but have gone through a number of subsequent trials and an average of 14 years between the original verdict and the actual putting to death. There have been possibly a couple that may have been put to death erroneously (though I don't know of any proof), but we all know many actual murderers who have gone free. The argument that they can be converted is so sick and disgusting when the people they killed ended up with 0% chance of doing anything.
Osteen couldn't make decisions for most questions, and apparently timid, occasionally disgusting, and has double standards. Very unworldly and unaware of what is really going on in the world. He should not be invited anymore to interviews
Steve. Exactly, Joel is extremely careful not to upset anyone. Fof instance, abortion is a very profound topic, but Osteen sits on the fence, saying "well I think it's wrong, but I can't tell a Woman what to do with her own boby".He talks like this because he knows that out there, there are very many who support abortion, & upsetting those people will cause a loss of revenue for his lifestyle. He speaks this way on most controversial issues. He wants to be loved, and trusted, and I'm afraid that people are falling for his fake perma smile, and his beautifyl message, a message which he cherry picks from the Bible.He NEVER speaks of God's anger, and his hard lessons in the Bible. With Osteen everything is to do with making as much money as he can, for HIMSELF. In America there are so many, many more Jews than Palestinians. He does not want to upset the Jewish population. Less money coming in. He speaks nicely of the Palestinians because he does not want to soil his dubious reputation and be seen as a racist.
