Brian Williams on Penn State scandal: "This kind of behavior can't be tolerated anywhere"
Tonight NBC News anchor Brian Williams and Piers Morgan sit down to talk politics, scandals and more. The Penn State scandal has rocked more than just the campus. "It's the most disturbing story in so long that we've come across," Williams says. Williams is "watching the NCAA closely" to see if Penn State will lose its football system and if it will bring change to college football, among many other questions.
Williams says Penn State, the board and others had "listened to common sense and the voice in their heads" then "we wouldn't be looking at the removal of Paterno on top of the mounting human tragedy." Tune in at 9pmET for the full interview – including Williams' Piers Morgan impression.

The topic of this interview with Brian Williams aside – and it is an incredible and tragic topic – I am astonished that Piers could be so patronizing and arch as to tell Williams that there is "always a place" for him on Morgan's show if Brian needed work. (This after Williams basically said that he would report news on any level even if he didn't work in national network news.) Luckily for Piers, Williams was enough of a gentleman and a professional not to laugh in his face. I mean, really????
There is so much concern about football and Paterno and how this will affect the college. It appears to be treated as of much more value in reporting than considering the horror of the child abuse of the young boys. Brian discussed how his family likes to watch football. I thought he was going to make more the point of the damage to the children. Paterno may be fired but there are alleged to be 40 young boys who will spend many years trying to heal, with therapy this is very painful. I was disappointed in the attention paid to the college and the football league. It is all so much less important than the pain and suffering of the victims. Perhaps if they'd prefaced their remarks with reference, more than a slight remark, of the victims.

It's even a bigger shame that this had nothing to do with Paterno or PSU. Time has proven this to be nothing more than a witch hunt by overreacting bloviating fools. Led by the vigilantes at E$PN, the easily fooled and stupid have fallen for this fantasy lock stock and barrel.
And then we have the NCAA. Injecting themselves into a horrible situation that had nothing to do with them. No rules or regs of the NCAA were broken. SAnctions, all of them including the $6o million extortion, were unjustified and unwarranted. But then you moralizing fools couldn't have stepped up on your soap boxes. This was a legal issue and the system has worked by punishing the culprit but letting his enablers off the hook. Which would be others than the PErsecuted Three from PSU and Joe Paterno who had nothing to do with this.
Brian Williams was a great guest to have on. Piers Morgan is doing a wonderful jobI I thought I would not like watching anyone after Larry King, but he is so refreshing. Keep up the great work CNN........
I agree with the essence of what Brian Williams says about nearly everything. But has anyone ever heard a more pompous bloated delivery???? It must be like what William Jennings Bryan sound like. Brian, come down to earth. Talk to us like a normal person. Not like a 19th century gas bag.
I think that there needs to be a clarification of "showering with boys". Are we talking about a situation of which there are hundreds of thousand examples in both malke and female showers at the YMCA and the YWCA, sports complexes, high school gyms police training facilities and locker rooms where we have a 3 sided stall and shower with the rest that are using it or are we talking about a shower area that has a door to close it off. Big difference that needs to be clarified. We all now have a glass panel in our office doors for a similar reason to provide a view of activitiers of co-workers. Food for thought.
As the mother of a son, this story turns my stomach. With hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, is anyone surprised that bad behavior in college athletics, by coaches or players, is ignored, down-graded or covered up? And why aren't alarm bells going off any time a grown man seeks out the company of young boys? My son attended an all-boys' boarding school, and the rules regarding student-teacher and student-house parent were strictly-adhered to to protect both the child and the adult. Trust me, the teachers NEVER showered with the boys...

He tried desparately to get Dr. Deepak Chopra to prescribe him drugs, and when he refused, Michael terminated their friendship. Michael was a very sick man who suffered from both borderline personality disorder, and narccissistic personality disorder. Michael was a pedophile just like sandusky.. Both exhibited identical behaviors with young boys. The profile for these sick individuals are the same. maybe with sandusky justice will be served, so the denial and shame these young men experience can come out of the closet, so to speak..

If one of the children were joe paterno's grandsons the cops would be beating down Sandusky's door. There would be one huge bail money to be put up. He would not be walking the streets of state college. Repuckians tend to stick togather and everyone who lost their job was big doners to the Repuckian party.
