Jill Biden on her first date with Joe: "I actually had another date that night"

Jill Biden's first date with the future vice president almost never happened.  In a revealing interview with Piers Morgan airing tonight 9pm ET/PT, the Second Lady admits she had other plans that evening but cancelled, opting instead to accept an invite from Joe. "Just because I thought he would be interesting to go out with, just once," says Dr. Biden. "But I went out with him and I was really charmed by him."

The couple spent their first evening together at the movies in Philadelphia, and after the date, Jill went straight to the phone:

"I remember going upstairs and calling my mother at 1:00 in the morning and I said, 'Mom, I finally met a gentleman.'" Tune in tonight at 9pm ET/PT as the Second Lady welcomes Piers Morgan to the Warrior Hope & Care Center, and reveals her greatest passion, and what it was like the night of the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound.

In response to Piers Morgan's characterization of Dr. Jill Biden's position as the Vice President's wife as one of hardship is ironical as his program is aired to people who are jobless, homeless, and hungry. While I am sure that being his wife may bring a level of discomfort and stress, I can't imagine that her day to day captures the same level of angst that watching your hungry do without. I do not fault her, those were Mr. Morgan's words.

I think he wondered what it was like to be a public person hearing criticism of her husband during this nonstop political turmoil almost since the election ended, and also the loss of privacy and independence with secret service protection of them all. It could be difficult for her on a daily basis, for all I know. She had to join campaigning immediately after losing her last living parent, her mother, for one thing. Emotional pain counts as hardship, I think.
