On the heels of Rick Santorum's dramatic primary victories in Alabama and Mississippi, on Tuesday Wolf Blizter welcomed John Brabender, Senior Campaign Advisor for the former Pennsylvania Senator.
Filling in for Piers Morgan, and hosting a special midnight edition of the program, the CNN anchor and host touched upon Newt Gingrich, wondering if it's time for the former House Speaker to remove his hat from the ring:
"Your candidate has resisted the urge to ask speaker Gingrich step aside," stated Blitzer. "He didn't win in either of these two states. Is it time – do you believe – for Gingrich to move on?"
"I think it's time that conservatives and Tea Party supporters understand that they've got to rally around one candidate," answered Brabender. "That's how you stop a moderate like Mitt Romney from ever getting the nomination."
As the engaging discussion continued, Brabender explained that the nation is ready for a two-horse Republican race:
"I think to be honest with you that we've earned a one-on-one with Mitt Romney. We saw that tonight with the two wins. We saw that in Kansas," Brabender told the guest host. "I think actually the American people have deserved that too, where it's a consistent, clear decision of whether you want to vote for a moderate, Mitt Romney, or a conservative, Rick Santorum."
