Only in America: Happy Birthday Twitter

On Tuesday's edition of "Piers Morgan Tonight," the host used his "Only in America" segment to touch upon a topic he knows all too well: Twitter.

As the social media service celebrated it's sixth birthday, Piers Morgan took a moment to review and recount all the ways that Twitter has changed how we interact:

"In a maximum of 140 characters, people anywhere can communicate with each other instantly, and in real time, about anything they want," said Morgan. "It's used by astronauts in orbit, explorers deep under water, and even presidents. Barack Obama turned to Twitter when he made history as the first African-American occupant of the White House."

Initially a Twitter skeptic himself, Morgan reluctantly joined up on November 30th, 2010, and now proudly boasts one of the world's most-followed accounts:

"As for me, I confess to finding it a horrifically addicting medium," revealed @piersmorgan. "Last week I passed two million followers on Twitter, an achievement which – well, let's be honest – it brought me an almost pitiful amount of excitement and pride."

Whether the medium is used to keep tabs on the "winning" ways of Charlie Sheen and the legal drama of Lindsay Lohan, or to monitor breaking news in Libya, Egypt, and Syria, there's no denying it's impact has been felt worldwide:

In the words of Morgan, "Only in America": "As for Jack Dorsey, and his founder colleagues, I say this: The American Dream was built on young people like you, having a simple, yet ingenious idea, and making it so popular, that the whole world began demanding it," explained Morgan. "Twitter is a phenomenal global success story, created in the United States of America. So Happy Birthday Twitter."

what will make America great again. All we need is for American's to buy American Goods. That all, If apple and walmart profits drop because the goods there sell are not made in American. Then they will open up plants in America. We are a consumer nation, the problem is, we are selling our country one penny at a time.
