Need to Know News: Video raises new questions in Trayvon Martin killing; Algeria refuses French gunman's body

Each day, we here at "Piers Morgan Tonight" put together the news you need to know – from what happened last night to what will happen today.

For March 29, 2012 – A video raises new questions in the Trayvon Martin killing, Algeria refuses French gunman's body and Bluegrass great Earl Scruggs dead at 88 ...

• Video raises new questions in Trayvon Martin killing: "The father of George Zimmerman, the man accused of shooting and killing an unarmed black teen in Florida, says the 17-yearold threatened to kill Zimmerman and then beat him so badly that it forced Zimmerman to shoot him. A surveillance video from the Sanford Police headquarters the night of the incident raises questions about the description of a beating."

• Algeria refuses French gunman's body, father says: "Algeria is refusing to accept the body of Mohammed Merah for burial, his father said Thursday, citing French authorities. Merah's father, Mohammed Ben Allal, wanted his son buried in the family's ancestral home of Algeria after he was killed by police, who accused him of shooting seven people to death in southern France this month."

No U.S. access to sites of Afghan killings, officials say: "U.S. military officials have yet to gain access to the sites where 17 Afghans were killed in Kandahar, an obstacle that could make it more difficult to prosecute the American soldier accused of the multiple homicides."

• Jobless claims fall to four year low: "In another sign of improvement in the labor market, the number of people filing for unemployment benefits once again fell to a four-year low last week. The Labor Department reported that 359,000 people filed for initial claims. That's down from the 364,000 who sought help the previous week, a reading that was revised higher."

• Bluegrass great Earl Scruggs dead at 88: "Earl Scruggs, whose distinctive picking style and association with Lester Flatt cemented bluegrass music's place in popular culture, died Wednesday of natural causes at a Nashville hospital, his son Gary Scruggs said. He was 88."

So we have a man who says that Trayvon beat his head against the sidewalk and that he fired the gun whilst in honest fear of his life. However we also have CCTV footage which shows Zimmerman handcuffed by the police shortly after the murder with no sign of the broken nose that he alleges Trayvon gave him.

Check the Daily Caller. This is web site Radar On Line showed that said there was an enlarged photo and referred to it. I bet few checked it out. Look close at back of head. What do you think. Maybe media is trying to cause a mob reaction instead get the complete. I want complete truth for Mr. Maritin's family. They never have said they wanted a lynch mob or all these hanger ons that want their 15 minutes of fame. They want the whole truth and to mourn for their child.

Why has no commentator noted the obvious. Mr Zimmerman with the gun was never in fear for his life. When he chose to pursue Raylon, he had a weapon and no reason to fear for his life. To the contrary, he was the aggressor and Raylon was the one in fear and the one with the right under the law to protect himself. Zimmerman had no right under the law to the use of a firearm which resulted in the death of Raylon.

Has anyone from the far left media bothered to report on one single case involving the multiple attacks upon innocent whites by young black males in the past 12 years here in Florida?
Last week alone, the 2 stories following the Trayvon Martin case were stories involving attacks by blacks on innocent whites. One a white police officer brutally shot in the back by a 17 year old black, the other 2 British tourists whose only crime was to travel into an all black community. Prior to this they were the stories of a black male killing several police officers in cold blood as they attepted to talk him out of the attic he was hiding in. Before that we had another black male who visiously shot, point blank into the face two police officers.
Yet no national media attention when it blacks killing whites in cold blood!
Additionally, had a white organization posted a bounty on the head of a black man the federal authorities would have been called in immediately to arrest them. Not here! Even after the radical group, Black Panthers were told to stand down they upped the bounty to one million dollars instead.
This is not a police state like California or New York. Here the 2nd Amendment is recognized.
The stand your ground law was put into effect because of the large number of senior citizens in this state who have become constant prey to once again, black males!
There are multiple criteria that must me met before being labeled a gang member, without meeting all these items you are considered an associate. Guess what is the race of the overwhelming membership of identified gang members and the associates.
The 2 largest groups of people holding weapons permits in this states are retiree's primarirly from northeastern states in which only law enforcement, judges and the elite are considered having lives more valuable then the rest of other Americans, the other largest group holding permits are women.
I challenge you. Look at the arrest reports, watch the media you will find that black on black and black on white far outweighs that of white on black.
Now lets address the 1st test of the stand your ground law here in Florida. A black man is angered about a skate boarder at a local park and gets into a verbal argument with a white man. The black man leaves and returns with his firearm. Feeling threatned he kills a veteran of the Gulf War who was un-armed. When he was shot point blanck it was done so in front of his young daughter.
Once again where was the far left media of CNN/HLN, MSNBC, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson?
Now here's the thing Pierce. You not only have the black panthers calling for violence but also the likes of those marching and chanting "No Justice, No Peace".
Please don play stupid and act like you don't understand what this means. There are no lines to read under or between. It is thrown squarely in white America's face.
I have said repeatedly this isn't New York or California. It's a state where nearly every home has a firearm inside.
What is also unknown to Al, Jessie, Nancy, Jane and the rest of you is you are doing the work for large organizations here, comprimised almost entirely of people with military training which have sat back and waited for just such a spark to ignite a powder keg of hatred between blacks and whites, whites and blacks, hispanics and blacks, blacks and hispanics on and on.
There is one huge difference, these white organizations have been preparing for years.
I don't belong to these groups and I do not condone any violence as I am of the belief we are all the creation and children of God which makes us brothers and sisters.
But, and this is so very important, you and those like you are literally throwing gas into the fire and the odds are heavily against the blacks.
Should this turn into a race war that spreads like wildfire across the country, the blood will be on your hands and those like you who have contributed to it all in an effort to make a buck.

So because there has been violence in other towns, black youths on whites, that gives white the right to just follow, shoot, and kill any black they see? I see, racist sir, the way you think.

I couldnt have stated it any better than how you did. I commend you for your comment. Thank you. I do believe if this doesnt stop... the blacks profiling whites, its gonna get really bad. Enough is enough. Stop this and stop it now. I agree with Ron Erni, the blood will be on your hands and anyone else who has help to fuel this hatred. So many out there with TUNNEL vision. And yes, all of you who seem to know so much and seem to keep yelling profiling... take a look at the STATS. JUST THE FACTS as Joe Friday would say on Dragnet.

This whole thing has gotten out of control.Between the protest, and the media.Everyone is just making judgements on thier feeling and what little fact they have.It is sad that someone died.If Mr.Zimmerman is In the right it will be hard if he is arrested and taken to trail. All these riots and people raiding the Walgreen.Does this show support for the young man that died?I think not.

Please take a look at the Daily Caller. Ther is blown up picture. I see laceration on back of Mr. Zimmerman's head. What if after a complete investigation it shows HLN (Jane and Nancy) and CNN your show was wrong. All you did was put a bulls eye on this man's head as well as his friends and family. As Mr. Spike Lee is going to be witness to. Might appear all you will get sued and I will applaud. No one has allowed there to be full investigation with a acting like a mob.

I agree. This is completely irresponsible. I am appalled that these reporters consider this "professional journalism". I think they should be charged with inciting a riot. The uninformed count on the "knowns" to support a position based on facts and laws. Instead, they are creating stories for ratings when the have not responsibility investigated. They don't have the facts and are reporting their opinions. That is fine if they don't want to be regarded as journalists. Write in the opinion section, but don't hold yourself out as informed and knowledgeable when you are merely creating sensationalism.

Why does the media keep showing 5 year old pictures of Trayvon Martin. I'm confident that recent photos of Martin would give a different look to the whole picture. It is a shame that there is so much racial tension surrounding this tragedy.

I cant believe what I just heard while interviewing Zimmerman's brother. You deliberately left out the response that Zimmerman said OK to the instruction of the dispatchers telling Zimmerman to stop following Martin. I usually enjoy your interviews but I feel you have stepped over the line here. I looks like your are trying to make Zimmerman look guilty instead of letting the authorities do their job and finish their investigation to determine what happened under the law. You are not the investigator and I think you need to leave it up to the professionals!!!

Piers Morgan should be removed from American television. He is trying to bring his British far-Leftist views to the United States. What he totally ignores is that America has a presumption of innocence, which favors George Zimmerman.

Morgan's entry to the United States should be barred. He is promoting racism and future violence, which is outrageous—
and what Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others are doing as well.

    See also http://naegeleblog.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/barack-obama-is-a-lame-duck-president-who-will-not-be-reelected/#comment-2101

Lastly, trying to use Mike Tyson to fan the flames of racism is reprehensible and irresponsible.

I used to enjoy watching Morgan, but he is so biased that I may never watch him again, and hope others will boycott him. His ratings are in the dumps already; and Larry King's relative objectivity is missed greatly.

What a disappointment you are in this interview. Clearly you have an opinion as to what occurred, and that is SO IRRESPONSIBLE if you are a journalist. NO ONE other than those that have all of the evidence in front of them can render an opinion. You have not, and therefore, should not hold yourself out as a journalist. You have lost credibility once you take a position and you are only furthering the rhetoric which is ultimately the demise of this investigation. If you did your homework you would know that an investigation does not start upon an arrest. A timeframe for formal charges starts at arrest...how do you explain to the family that after an arrest they can't formally charge him? Perhaps another potential civil war? Shame on you and those that are supposed to be educated on the process and choose to ignore it. You are giving credibility to those that believe you and the other names wouldn't irresponsibly back something that wasn't well founded. I make no comment on crime or defense...I can't, I've not seen all the evidence. Shame on you and you lost an educated listener. Perhaps you are seeking sheep and this won't bother you. From a (different) professional in a profession that requires an oath, you failed your professional obligation

I'm listening to Zimmerman Brother and I pick up more then three problems here one, he said if someone just would have came out to question what was going on none of this would have happen. Question: why would any one have to stop him if Zimmerman was in the right, Second if Zimmerman had not follow him after being told not too , no of this would have happen. This fool really don't need to be on TV. Zimmerman and family really shouldn't be saying anything, now if the family have Trayvon's voice on tape or home movies. It would not be to hard to check to see who's voice is who, voice is Now by putting any hint of Trayvon being some kind of criminal has totally lost a scene of being, This young man was walking home after going to the store if Zimmerman made him call to 911 and kept going on about his business. None of this would have happen, So no matter how much BS Zimmerman family try to spin this just will not work Zimmerman followed Trayvon and really should have ..

He followed a person that was walking in between houses at night in the rain in an area that has had a lot of break ins. Reasonable. Not race related. Brother said that Zimmerman said (and corroborated by reports) that he said "I was yelling for help, if someone would have came out to help this wouldn't have happened". He said that before he left the scene...gives it credibility because there was no time to make stuff up...things are more credibile when they are said under the stress of the incident. This was what is a "spontanious statment" in Florida. I'm not saying Zimmerman is right or wrong, I'm saying all of you drawing conclusions without all of the facts are ignorant to the investigation. (Before you get mad, look up the definition of ignorant...it means not knowing, or not informed. It isn't an insult.)

I've really had it with Piers. He is so opinionated and biased – he never gives an objective interview, and this one was shameful. Zimmerman's brother was intelligent and well informed and carried himself so well in spite of Piers' bullying. And then he tried to get Tyson riled up but he was too smart for him. I've been a regular viewer but I've had enough – sure miss Larry's fair and objective interviews.

Because Morgan is a Brit, he has no idea that race relations between Hispanics (which is the larger population group) and blacks is potentially a powder keg. He and CNN are fanning that racism, which will not inure to Obama's benefit in November.

Again, Morgan should be removed from American television and sent back to Britain.
