Shame on Toure!!!! I'm African-American and feel distraught over how Piers Morgan was treated. Piers has been an inspiration regarding the Martin coverage. I'm proud of how piers handled Toure and the Zimmerman interview.
Wow, Piers had passion for Toure but did not have he same passion to challenge Zimmerman. Toure proved his point. Piers had many follow up questions for Toure but could not find any for Zimmerman? Great job Piers.
Thanks Piers. One other thing not addressed. The Haitians & Jamaicans that have been allowed into the US. They are on the Dole. I go to work to support foreigners, what about American jobs & Education for us who live here?
Piers had the nerve to tell Toure "What a load of fatuous nonsense." What Toure said was factual and without a doubt, what many people feel. I watched the interview of Zimmerman's brother and I felt the same way. He was allowed to say a lot of crap that the media already knows is either not true or has not been able to be substantiated. Yet, Piers let this guy go on and on and on about nothing more than conjecture. I say that because this morning, George Zimmerman's lawyer releases a statement saying that Zimmerman's brother's account shouldn't be looked upon as fact. Now, why is that? Well, Mr George Zimmerman's lawyer says he and his brother haven't been in contact in YEARS! That says something. Also, the brother's account does NOT correspond with the father's account. If it walks like a duck and smells like a duck, it is a quack, quack! I like Piers, however, Toure is right! Piers did NOT do his research. Had he done so, he would've called the brother out on his inconsistences. But it's all about ratings. Isn't it? That's the most sickening thing about the whole scenario. Trayvon, a 17 year old boy is dead and noone has been charged with any count of manslaughter, 2nd degree murder, 1st degree murder....NOTHING! I understand Toure's frustration because I, too, am frustrated and sick of the media missing the whole point of this story. Our grandfathers, fathers, uncles, and brothers have been singled out, harassed, mistreated, brutalized, and murdered in the past and NOONE has been held accountable. We, the living, are left to speak on their behalf. I'm proud of Toure for taking that baton because too many people in the media have missed the point: A 17 year old boy is dead because a 28 year old man, with a record of domestic violence, attacking a police officer and being fired from a previous security guard job for "throwing" a woman who happened to be intoxicated shot him to death after being told by a police dispatcher to stop pursuing the 17 year old. The history of our nation can not be overlooked in this situation! Black males are still being singled out even when they're doing absolutely NOTHING wrong! Now, that was Toure's point and I, wholeheartedly, agree with him!!! Great job, Toure!!!

I find you brilliant. We are not black or white in this case, (though I think George Zimmerman was Hispanic or of Mixed Race). In any case, what matters is the truth as Lady Justice must remain blind. It’s a tragedy to have lost this young man and the truth must be discovered. Consider me your newest white friend.
Shame on Toure? REALLY?! That was the most unprofessional, ego-driven, racist, uninformed "interview" I've ever seen on television! Piers claiming to be a journalist, and what I saw was nothing but him driving home his "uninformed point of view" which by the way a so called journalist would NEVER do. He was self consumed. He put himself and his own ego ahead of black America, who is facing yet again another heart wrenching situation. And I thought Toure showed remarkable restraint while being baited by an ego-driven, self consumed prime time suedp (sp?) journalist.

Piers questions to Zimmerman brother on 3/29/12 was respectful and professional. His guest tonight (Toure's) was a disgrace to the journalist race let alone the human race. His racist remarks toward Pier is no better than the situation the world is trying to deal with concerning Trayvon Martin murder. He only made Piers Morgan a better journalist by completing an interview with a jerk (Toure's), that apparently do not know how to conduct himself and he is proud to be an American.
As an African American woman, an older African American woman, I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Whatever Toure was trying to say he could have found a better way to do it. He was not for one second about Trayvon Martin, this was all about him trying to show off and make a name for himself. I thought that his conversation was going to be intelligent, thought provoking and to the point. Instead he was asking Piers and CNN to do what has always been done to African Americans – censor comments. It was better to have Robert Zimmerman on the air so the world could see the lie being told. Piers, in my opinion did challenge Robert Zimmerman on every point. Perhaps not the same way the Toure wanted it done but surely he was effective. Toure simply looked and sounded unhinged and childlike. Physically posing himself for the camera? Making faces? C'mon. Instead of attacking the host of the show he should have used his time wisely to bring the facts forward for the Martin family and the masses. Quite frankly, he wasted my time. He was just grand standing for himself. I was totally disappointed in him as a black man and Piers was right to ask him if he EVER watched his show. Robert Zimmerman is a man trying to save his brother at any cost. And? He loves him. And in that people can read between the lines and it doesn't make George Zimmerman any less suspected of guilt in the eyes of the world.

No... my friend... shame on YOU...Tourre was absolutely correct in his frustration towards the interview. Pierce was arrogant and condescending towards him. That's why the conversation disintegrated to name calling by both parties. You might be too young to understand the agony we older people had to endure from police brutality, but its real. I agree that Pierce is a good journalist, but his gentlemanly approach to airing more "hearsay" information is merely giving Zimmerman a "pass".

I agree with you Cindy. I too am a black woman and really like Piers. I think anyone should be able to understand and feel the grief of what happened if you are not a racist. I don't feel in my heart that Piers is that way. He may not have been as strong of an interviewer on the idiot he had on but Piers is doing a great job. Let others put this guy to task, let Piers do the job he does. I am so saddened by the way he was treated. I understand the racial divide very well, I live it daily but I know their are people that logically could never understand this because they don't go through it, but my goodness, he understands that this was wrong and that is why he is doing the show. Please people, lets put the anger where it belongs. Piers is just trying to be fair. He is not congratulating the idiot zimmerman, he is just reporting. Toure went off. He is obviously too emotionally into the story. He may be right, but the man (Zimmerman) has not had his day in court, if it goes to trial. People should not use one event to right all the wrongs done to a race a people.

CIndy, I am a Young AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE, who has been VICTIM to racial profiling. If you have not experienced it as an AFRICAN AMERICAN, you cannot FEEL the PAIN. As an AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN, check with the men in your family and ask them about their first experiences with RACIAL PROFILING in this country! I'm sure you'd feel a little different if Trayvon was one of them.
To brobin who comments on everyone who states they are African American, get a life dude. Of course there is no way to prove they are who they say they are so your nonsense comments are as equally meaningless as their statement.
With regards to Piers vs Toure, it should not have happened if they are the "professionals" they both claim to be because professional journalists would not behave like 10 year olds. I do agree with Piers' method of interviewing Robert because if he gave the "hard treatment" that Toure wanted then it would just look like he called Robert on the show to attack him and his family. Piers challenged him a bit, but not too much, which is good because it allowed the world to see that Robert is totally lying and the fact that so many different stories are coming out of the Zimmerman camp hurts his case and takes him one step closer to jail.
While Toure has a point that Piers doesn't understand truly what black people have gone through in American history, Toure doesn't either. He was not the one that was a slave, nor was he lynched, nor did he witness it happen. He has definitely grown up in a difficult manner because it is not easy to be black in America, but to assume that he is an expert on what America is feeling because he is a black American is ridiculous. The entire notion that people who are not American don't understand pain or injustice or racism is absurd because it happens all around the world, and in comparison to many other countries, black Americans have it easy.
Toure went on the show not to discuss Trayvon, but to make himself seem like he is someone black people actually care about. He is not the voice of the black people in the US, not is he the face of responsible journalism, he is just another glorified blogger, which of course is now known as a journalist.
Sorry, Cindy, I don't think you're getting this one. Piers is more worked up about defending his ego than he is about doing a solid job as a journalist. When a respectable journalist sees that someone like Zimmerman's brother is lying to him, his job–if done properly–is to ask the subject tougher follow-up questions until the guy is in a corner and reveals his true colors. The good journalists have a gift for smelling the truth and staying steps ahead of their subjects to get the truth out. Piers just doesn't have those gifts, so he's trying to boost his own image by saying that he believes himself to be a great journalist.

I agree Cindy. Toure was wrong for going at Piers the way that he did. The place that he should be is on Fox not on CNN going after Piers who has covered this story responsibly. He came across as very negative with a person who is professional and has given his guests an opportunity to speak as all hosts should. Everyone knows a family member will speak up for their relative and they should be allowed to. Toure is trying to get into the game but is barking up the wrong tree. Go to Fox and attack the pro Zimmerman's over there. He clearly did not speak for most black people on this. He should leave these things to intelligent brothers like Roland Martin. Hats off to Piers for putting him in check. Its ok to be angry but in this case it was very misdirected.

Cindy, I want to congratulate you on gaining your new White friend(s) here who are comforted by your total failure to "get it" and by your bashing of Toure for calling Piers on his journalistic hypocrisy. Piers had a bad night when failing to properly challenge Zimmerman, that failure likely caused a setback to justice being done, and Toure was brave enough to call him on it without apology. If I run into any more Black or White people out there who are as enamored by Piers and his laughable credentials as you are, I'll send those "friends" your way, too.
I agree that Piers Morgan is an excellent journalist. The person that was being interviewed was very cynical, and even hostile. It showed the true colors of this guy Touré. I think it was a total shame how Touré behaved, and conducted himself and treated Piers Morgan. I audio listen to Piers Morgan and watch him... and it was disturbing both listening and seeing this guy act the way he did. Good Job Piers Morgan!

Piers Morgan displayed intelligence and class last night while Toure ranted nonsense. Mr. Morgan has showed empathy and respect for Trayvon Martin and his family in each and every show re this terrible injustice. As an impartial journalist he interviewed Robert Zimmerman and allowed him his 'right' to free speech. As a Canadian and a fairly intelligent woman I agree with Mr. Morgan's shock and amazement regarding Florida's 'stand your ground' law. I enjoy watching Piers Morgan because he is current, fair and impartial.
I like Piers too, but frankly, I think Toure was right. Black people in this country have a sad not-so-distant history with profiling, persecution and injustice.

I ended up changing the channel for the last few minutes of the interview because it was distasteful to watch this unnecessary attack on Piers Morgan and returned to the show after the shouting was over. It was most certainly conduct unbecoming a guest on an interview.
Piers should have thrown him off the air. I have just written to MSNBC and asked them to sever any future interviews with Toure. Throw him on FOX news if he wants to behave like that! I cetainly do not want to hear him again. I hope others will write MSNBC and ask for them to keep him off their programs along with CNN! In my opinion, he does not deserve to be on television with others who make the profession respectful. All of this nonsense and a little boy has lost his life ... and some jerks want their own attention on TV for the benefit of themselves and not finding justice for this child. I Don't dispute Mr Morgan's approach to general interviews, but I do think he brought something up that made me question his background for this issue. He has been in the US for 6 years. I am from the 50's and 60's and I do wonder if he can have any idea of what the history of division in America was like. He is not from this post slave owning history that has lingering overtones of prejudice, especially from the south. My parents were born at the turn of 1900, my mother from Tennessee. I grew up hearing casual comments that shocked me when I understood them. They did not think they were bigots, just white people. Maybe having a foreign born interviewer can leave some distrust in their understanding of the emotional history of our country. I personally think it should be the law we are discussing. ANYONE of ANY color could be the arm bearer or the victim.

I am African American too and I was appalled by Toure’s utter insolence to Piers. It was totally uncalled for! While emotions are high and I get that Toure’s obviously furious about the situation, I believe his anger is misdirected. There just is no excuse for such rudeness and condescending tone. Quite frankly I was embarrassed and feel compelled to apologize for him.
I don't believe most of the people here who claim to be African-American while criticizing Touré. Of course black people disagree, and some blacks surely don't agree with Toure's arguments. But I have no way of confirming whether people who claim to be black are, so I would say we should try to assess the arguments for either of the interlocutors here simply on the basis of their cogency, not the self-proclaimed 'race' of the blogger.
Dear Piers, I thought the job that you did on the Robert Zimmerman interview was fair and impartial. This was needed, so that information gathered can be on the record period. As of this Sunday the 911 audio has been analyzed and the voice crying for help is not a match for George Zimmerman. This is an important 1st step leading to the eventual arrest of “G. Zimmerman”. This debunks the Zimmerman’s family claims, so please continue with the interviews.

I just caught up with the vid. The problem with this case is obvious to anyone that has the intelligence to see the larger picture and not be blindly herding behind beliefs. To elaborate; a thought or mindset is open to learn and evolve with new information while a belief is like concrete and would crack before accepting any new information. This case was never a racist issue it became one by racist beliefs. Yes, these beliefs are as in grained in the protesters as Obama not being an American is in grained into the beliefs of the birthers.
Seeing that the media has played out the belief, "Trayvon Murder" and is starting to expand with new information; it gives me hope for the human race that common sense will prevail. For the spin, easily seen with open eyes, was little poor teen profiled, stalked, targeted, and clearly killed with premeditation for being black. To accept this spin one has to consider 1 of the eye witnesses, 2+ paramedics at the scene, 6+ police officers, Zimmerman's entire family and their black friends to all be a large conspiracy of racist out to target and kill black teens. It makes as much sense as an illegal alien going to school and building a career in American Law becoming president.

A true professional journalist? Really? Piers Morgan, who once worked for Rupert Murdock's, News of the World newspaper, is a professional journalist? I watch him, sometimes, but I'm under no delusion that he's anything other than a tabloid journalist. You don't know what you're talking about. He's a tabloid journalist just like most of the media, today. In fact, he got his reputation for being a "hard ass" by disregarding the privacy of celebrities, people in power, being invasive, and disrespectful. Back then, I guess he believed in holding people accountable and drilling them. I wonder where that Piers Morgan was when he interviewed Zimmerman's brother....out to dinner? That interview was a waste and did nothing but introduce more inconsistences. It may just turn out to be a God-send for the prosecution. By the way, George Zimmerman's lawyer told us all, today, not to listen to the brother's account because he and George haven't been in contact in YEARS! Piers wanted ratings and didn't drill the brother like he could have. "Has George ever lied?:" What a silly question. How about asking him "Have you guys been very close?" "What kind of upbringing did you guys have?" "When did he convey the story to you?" Toure's right! This guy is not qualified to even begin to understand the pain in the hearts of black America, let alone America, in general, as it relates to this incident. I don't expect him to because his experience is different. But don't you dare try to tell Toure that his account of Pier's naivete, regarding the unfortunate, racial experiences in America makes him unqualified to understand this sensitive matter is wrong. It's not wrong! Unless you walk a day in my shoes, you not only do not know how I feel nor can you comprehend the pain that ensues because of the insensitivities and discrimination that you must learn to live with in your own country. I’m a black woman. I saw the Piers Morgan show last night with Robert Zimmerman. In all fairness, Piers did challenge him, he did ask him tough question. Piers did try to have him justify some of his ridiculous comments and falsities. Piers did not try to “bully” Robert into changing his outrageous answers, but he did the best that he could with the professionalism and dignity that he could in the given situation. It is unfair and unwarranted for another journalist to attack Piers for trying to get to the “root” of the problem and try to catch Robert in the BIG lies that he was telling. Everyone has a different style of interviewing and Piers did it the way he does it best. Please let’s begin by respecting others in our society regardless of where they are from. That is an irrelevant piece of information to us to attack someone on the air. How unfortunate. Piers keep on doing what you do. You do care and you do ask and you do push back (gently), in the professional way that you do it.
I thoroughly agree with you GFrank. Jouranlists all have their different ways of evoking information from people. As the scriputres states, 'a word softly spoken will cause a lot to be revealed'. Sometimes to get at the truth from someone, you allow them to 'hang themselves' and that's exactly what Zimmerman's brother did; he hung himself, based on the questions put to him by Piers. I don't knock anybody who can strategically uncover the truth from someone who does not even know that he/she has revealed it. I love these different variations that the Zimmerman family is coming up with; it shows that their legal counsel does not realize that he has some 'dim wits' for clients; they can't even get their lies in alignment. Now I understand and can relate to the passion of my young black brother; at age eight, white people burned a cross in my front yard while me and my family watched, however, my mother's brothers came on the scene and those white folks in that neighborhood quickly moved out. Black men and boys are still being lynched and hung; a black solider home from leave was hung in his mother's front yard a few years back in Georgia. The Criminal Justice System has become the 'new' slave master. As sad as it might sound, there is a need and a purpose for young black brothers like these; never in the history of this country have blacks ever gotten injustices addressed without 'making' some noise. But it has been all of us, blacks, whites, brown, yellow, working together to resolve the race issue; and it will take all of us in unity to fight the racism in this country today. Be Blessed!

I completely agree. For Brobin's sake I won't say what race/ethnicity I am. That being said it doesn't matter what background I or you are. That's where Toure went wrong. First of all, any person who cannot learn to wait their turn, is unprofessional. Watching this infuriated me. Toure was wrong for getting Piers uppity in the first place, and you know what? The frustration probably would make me jab too. Piers was wrong for the snide remarks, but I do believe, without a doubt, that those remarks would not have been said had Toure been professional and objective. A couple of people here have written that they now despise Piers for playing devil's advocate because the "facts" that Toure spoke about is how many people "feel". By definition, you don't "feel" facts... Facts are facts, opinions are another thing. Once you become subjective and take feelings as fact, you are no longer an effective journalist. Ergo, I will not state my opinions of the Trayvon Martin case, because, let's be honest, Piers and Toure didn't spend much time on it either, they were too busy at each other's throats. Piers handled the Zimmerman interview to the best of his ability. He's not the prosecutor, he's not law enforcement. It's not his job to get him to "spill the beans", it's unreasonable of Toure to want Piers to challenge him in that way. If Toure had been paying attention, he would have seen that Piers asked the right questions, and his subtle answers showed where he stood on the case. Toure- it was a lot of bark, but not a lot of spark; I'll listen to you when you stop preaching.
I so agree with you GFrank. A good journalist will probe and a credible or non-credible person will expose themselves. His brother (Zimmerman's) is not on trial. Toure did himself a great disservice as a journalist and a cultural commentator. What happened to Trayvon was very wrong and I believe most people can see that and want to see all the evidence.

I grew up in Florida. So, I have some claim to know the state. I fail to see what that has to do with the Treyvon Martin case. This tragedy could have occurred in any state in the U.S. Piers Mogan credentials are impeccable. Yours are not. Thus, I find your critque "fatuous".
As an African American I opine that Toure was disrespectful to Pierce. While it was clear that he disagreed with Pierce's approach to interviewing Zimmerman's brother, he had a right to show respect.
Telling Pierce that the MSNBC folks were laughing at the way he (Pierce) conducted his interview with Zimmerman's brother – without providing any tangible proof of flawed journalism on Pierce's part – served only one purpose, and that was to throw scorn Pierce's way. In doing so, Toure showed what a small person he is!
Toure, as a journalist, displayed a lack of professionalism rushing to judgement regarding Zimmerman's guilt. Pierce did the correct thing in 'pulling' from Zimmerman's supporters that he (Zimmerman) has a broken nose; now we can all await the hospital's report to better assess guilt or innocence. Furthermore, we can only disprove (based on the video shown) Zimmerman's account of receiving a bloody head if the 1st responders confirm that he was not cleaned up prior to being captured on video. At the end of the day we must demand the same justice for Zimmerman as we seek for Martin.....otherwise we (the Black community) seek to have our justice delivered in an unjustifiable manner.

Regardless of your "race", Toure was the most professional on the show. Zimmerman's brother should have never been on the show. Piers was undressed and humiliated on his own show by Toure because he didn't live up to high journalistic standards. Deal with it!
Piers, although I enjoy your show, as a professional social worker, I would have to recommend several things that would have diffused the hostility between you and Toure. First, being that you are not American and Toure is, a professional journalistic approach would have included validating something that Toure said, as his passion about Trayvon's tragic death is also rooted in American history and his own ethnicity/race, that even for me as an American white I could never fully understand. As a professional white social worker, I still work on compassion for diversity and all the injustice that black Americans face in our culture. Furthermore, admitting in a calm tone that 'yes' you are not American, thus, understanding the pain would not be possible would have built a bridge and not a racial/journalistic wall. Finding a common ground during these times should be the efforts of all reporting the news, and especially when so much is still missing in terms of the investigation. Secondly, I'm saddened to see what used to be The Larry King Show turn into a debate forum much like that of Bill O'Reilly, where disrespect is heightened, with language suggesting total disrespect for the common cause, which in this case is the memory of Trayvon Martin,his family and social justice.

Piers, watching you interview Toure made me embarrased of you. I saw a good part of your interview with George Zimmerman's brother and was struck by the pathos he expounded while making his brother (who he is not in contact with) seem a step or two away from death when he shot Trayvon. The video in the police station, taken about a half hour after the shooting, shows the lies to be what they are... lies.
I also agree with others that seven years in the US does not make you an authority on us. You clearly do not understand the deep painful issues that are usually hidden but brought to light with this case.

In response to Victoria below....no I would never say that because I'm a social worker I have all the answers; however, I would say that our professional/academic training includes hours & hours of diversity classes that encourages empathy and compassionate regard for cultural diversity. And in this case, due to my career with those who are both Amercian black and disabled, I determined that a thought from this perspective would be appropriate....we must all take time to reflect and find that place in our heart to hear the pain of others, and especially before we speak in anger and strike out towards those who are individually and collectively victims of hate crimes, profiling, sterotyping, and a long history their continues to haunt even their rightful place in American society....I believe the 911 call directed Mr. Zimmerman to cease following precious Trayvon....my question is, why didn't he follow the orders of local law enforcement if none of the aforementioned motivated his actions? The truth is that much of this anger is NOT all about the 20% of young black males that are killed by non-blacks, it's also about the 80% that are killed by other black males. This case is just an easy outlet for ALL of the anger. I believe much of the anger stems from the frustration that there seems to be NO answer to the senseless deaths of 'most' young black males. And that frustration stems from the fact that one has to look a littler closer to home to see the problem. The breakdown of the black family, and the lack of self respect is at the core of 'most' young black male murders. And I wish more of the anger was aimed at the 80%.
Toure was rude and I'm embarassed that this now it has gotten to the point of him and Piers arguing about what should have been asked and the interview. Let Pier Morgan inteview his guest in the manner he likes. Again, Toure was way out of line.
I think what Piers encountered is an angry black man. I had the same experience once with an angry black woman. It's OK. They are outraged by their history, and they should be by the Trayvon matter. But unfortunately, they take it out on some who are trying to help and understand and bring about change, like Piers. I don't think his journalism was lacking. You can have your opinon but I don't see Piers' approach as being balanced, at all. Had he been seeking balance he would've been open to seeing Toure's side. Actually, Trayvon did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system but GZ was not even tested for anything. That is one of several outrages. If you were not biased by stereotyping, you would not have made that assumption.
The next issue most people do not realize is Piers and Toure had already been arguing back and forth for a while on Twitter before Toure came on the show. Piers had been criticized for the way he lobbed soft balls at GZ's brother. If you only saw the on-air interaction between Toure and Piers, you certainly would have thought both men were truly combative. What I don't get though is Piers insistence that he knows what it's like to understand the African-American experience. He can't and he doesn't. Toure is absolutely correct. Even first generation African immigrants can't begin to fathom the layers and centuries of pain, of being "a problem". Trayvon was not under the influence of any type of Drug. Do your homework. Piers, WOW this guy Toure is sounding agree. If journalism is about reporting non bias facts of an event and making sure the facts are verified and true without personal twist and personal view this guy Toure has missed the point. Yes this is about racial profiling and a man that acted inappropriately even though he was told too stand down. Plus it seems the police do not have constant story for the events that happened. The person you had on your show Friday night who was labled a 'comedian', was discraceful. He is a white person hater who is a racist and he jokes about it and gets away with it. He is discusting, mean and wrong in how he has convicted George Zimmerman in a crime that has not been determined yet. I am deeply saddened by Trayvon's unnecessary death, and I have to admit that I have probably already made up my mind that Zimmerman is guilty. Having said that, it blows my mind to think that Toure was given so much air time to is attack Piers Morgan's professionalism. He obviously has a complete misunderstanding that responsible journalism requires multiple perspectives. Though the format of the show permits the host to have an opinion, he would be completely irresponsible (and quite boring) to be so biased that he would marginalize those who might have a different perspective on an issue. Interestingly, Toure bases his strong opinion based partly on the fact that the various «stories» are inconsistent. Isn't ironic that he can make this statement because of interviews that do allow the various perspectives to be aired, including the very interview he criticized. By the way Toure, this issue, very serious indeed, is not unique to America...this is a universal issue. You'll do a lot more good defending these issues if you broaden your own perspectives. Piers, you are a respected journalist, but I would suggest you don't spend any more time defending your decision to look at all the information.

I couldn't believe the tone of the attack against Piers. Sometimes Piers interview approach aggravates me, but, he is not easy on anyone and it does seem that in most cases, he is truly seeking to expand his own understanding and to get to the underlying truths. I totally agree. Piers Morgan's softball interview with Zimmerman's brother showed a sort of bias I was not ready to see from Piers Morgan, and I for one applaud Toure for being willing to stand up and say so, since the rest of us will never have the opportunity to do so ourselves.

I know this is Pierce Morgan blog so its pretty much pro Pierce. For what its worth since this is the internet I believe there was alot foul play still to be resolved and the "stand your ground" law is idiotic. I believe this is what Pierce believes also. Toure from MSNBC is totally out of line. He is so far jumping to so many conclusions that its just what helps divide our country more over race. Toure made quite a few assumptions where there is liitle or no evidence, so I do not know who he calls himself a journalist. As far as Pierce questions toward Zimmerman's brother I believed he did a good job. I'm not a journalist and honestly do not know what "hard hitting" questions I would ask. Toure's beef was with he didn't drill him like Pierce was a prosecutor on a cross examination. I actually liked this. If say Pierce would have kept drilling him over and over on his broken nose or some other "gotcha" all it would do is again perpetuate the "stereotype" of the liberal media that they just out to get the bad man. He asked a question, let Robert Zimmerman answer, did some follow ups and moved on.

There are many lessons that can be learned by our national conscience through this tragedy, but I am afraid that some of the real lessons are becoming obscured because people are latching onto this, seemingly for their own benefit. I am a disabled, white, conservative female (I voted for Santorum in the Ohio primary) crime victim who has been treated poorly, even to the point of them acting to cover their own butts, by a white republican prosecutor's office in Sangamon County, IL. Many changes that need to be made need to be made are at the local, county and state level, which the national media does not focus on. Each citizen has a responsibility to find out about their own laws and policies of their law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. How many actually know, I wonder? The Florida laws regarding freedom of information seem to limit the amount of information released. If Trayvon's parents were made aware of what is now trickling out, earlier on, I don't think this would have garnered the attention it has received. Now, I fear, human nature makes it hard to retreat from positions so strongly taken, if the facts prove to be opposite of what people have come believe. The simple act of fully informing Trayvon's parents early on would have indicated that they mattered to the powers that be. I pray for true justice for all.
When I was 11, in 1970, my parents moved from Cleveland to one of the suburbs, not because people moving in were black, but because of the increase in crime (that in spite of the violence going on in our own home!). I pray that no child in this great nation is forced to live in fear. I wish the remarkable amount of energy and focus we are seeing expended in this case would spill over against the daily crimes committed in poor neighborhoods, and for the good people who feel trapped there and forced to tolerate it, for fear of their lives and safety.

Certainly the United States has better to offer than Piers Morgan. Never understood his getting a show on CNN of that magnitude. Piers Morgan is a pompous, know-it-all and always has been. Didn't watch the show last night and never would watch Mr. Morgan. I happened to see a clip of it covered on the news. Not surprised. CNN should dump Mr Arrogance and put any of the wonderful people we have in this country in Larry King's place.

Although I don't always agree with Toure, Piers Morgan's softball interview with George Zimmerman's brother left me wondering why he even bothered. We already know Zimmerman's brother was not present at the crime scene, and therefore has absolutely no first hand info, and yet he was allowed to speak (mostly unchallenged) as if what he was stating was fact, especially when we see the police video that makes it clear that the injuries the brother insists were sustained that night, were not. So, while Mr. Morgan might want to understand the way American's feel about this case, his lack of hard hitting interviewing skills makes me wonder if he is trying to make Zimmerman's case for him, and I therefore side with Toure on this one.
Just a reminder to Mr. Morgan that he was the host of the show and Toure was his guest. I couldn't believe the exchange could get this low particularly the ending. I really missed Larry King show now!!!

I don't believe that if Zimmerman was the one shot he( Martin ) would not have be treated as kindly by police as Zimmerman. And that is what feels racist to me.

As a white man transplanted to America, Mr. Morgan is not qualified to give any commentary on the African-American experience. The lynchings and cross burnings have happened as late as the 1970's to men and boys who's only crime was having dark skin. As recent as the the 1990's innocent men have been dragged to death. To deal with the constant threat of violence, from racists and black-on-black violence, we have developed a dark sense of humor that is only shared by combat vets. If George had dark skin or a non-jewish sounding last name, he would have been arrested and facing a large bail or denied bail for the same offense.

Zimmerman utters racial slurs (and that was only on the phone, who knows what else he said). Zimmerman on neighborhood watch with a gun and without proper neighborhood watch attire. Zimmerman 28 yrs old 250lbs Martin 140lbs 17 years old. NO WAY IN HELL THAT SKINNY KID TOOK DOWN THAT HUGE GROWN MAN AND GAVE HIM A BEAT DOWN!!! Screams from a kid where heard on the phone. Police tapes show no signs of a broken nose, blood, or injuries to Zimmerman's head, about 30 minutes after the fact. For gods sake, the next door neighbor said that he say it from his window where Zimmerman was in fact the one on top of Martin. People, when you see 2+2...it is always 4...even if the "=" is not shown...

First, I would like to let you know that racism does exist in America. If we pretend it does not, it is not helping anybody. Secondly, Tour'e was a little hard on Piers. What Tour'e neglected to understand that the more Robert Zimmerman talked the more we noticed he was not telling the truth. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister. They are okay people, are they always honest and never lie, I cannot say that. When he stated that, "if Treyvon would have banged his head one more time, he would of been wearing diapers for the reast of is life" c'mon no explanation needed.

Absolutely right, David. Piers has been and will always be a lightweight interviewer until he possesses the compassion for others. Piers is so detached from the everyday man and his problems. It seems as if he tries to compensate by being a bully. This tactic was on full display when Toure was on his show. Piers didn't seem seem to empathize with Toure's point about another black kid who is unarmed and murdered. Regardless of Piers feeling insecure about his having Zimmerman's brother on the show, Piers resorted to bully tactics and complained that Toure didn't know what he was talking about. Piers made it about Piers and not the Trayvon murder. I've stopped watching Piers for good.

Piers is not a judge nor the jury. He is an excellent reporter and is there to help the public with the facts about Trayvon's murder. Piers did an excellent job with interviewing Robert Zimmerman who the world can see that he was fabricating the facts. It doesn't matter what Robert Zimmerman says; the 911 tape, and the eyewitnesses, as well as the tape showing George Zimmerman's physical condition after the murder of Trayvon is evidence enough to ARREST GEORGE ZIMMERMAN. TOURE SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR A SEASONED AND PROFESSIONAL REPORTER.
Good for Toure for insisting his voice be heard. Mr. Morgan who does nothing but interrupt his guests certainly gets his back up when he's interrupted. Piers Morgan should have a show with no guests. Toure was the best thing on the show. He got his points out accurately. Furthermore, Piers was flustered because Piers knew he didn't do a good job having Zimmerman on the show. When Toure told him the TRUTH, Piers came across as a silly school boy that was scolded and is now having a tantrum. We all saw the same show. It is completely inappropriate (and distracting from the important matter of the young man that has been murdered) for Toure to be disrespecting Piers in the way that he is. I saw the interview with Robert Zimmerman, and feel it was handled appropriately. I am black, and Toure does not represent my perspective. Additionally, I think it takes intelligence and compassion to understand the matters underlying the Trayvon Martin story...not being born in America. Piers, kick this dude off your show, and get back to covering the story as you have. Isn't this guy a music reporter anyway???

Because brobin, if you watched the interview you would have realized that Toure felt that he could speak for all African Americans and made and assumption that, collectively, we were with him on this one. And, simply put, we were not. It was not for yours or any other person's benefit that some of us (not all of us) identified our race, it was due to the manner in which Toure, presented his opinion.

I watched the interview last night the Zimmerman brother and what i witness was Morgan allowing Zimmerman to make a fool of himself. I enjoyed it. Anyone who can process information will clearly hear and see that Morgan was not buying Zimmerman's bull. Also that EDUCATED FOOL TOURE could have started a professional war between two networks! My husband and I happen to be white (we are all part of the human race, maybe some more than others) and wish we could've participated in the marches in FL. Part of the anger people feel, other than the blatant racism of Zimmerman, is the fact that he is still a free man. No arrest or perhaps arrested in handcuffs and then released. The case totally mishandled by the police. The truth will emerge thanks to residents who made 911 calls reporting the crime and others who will speak up. The issue is that everyone seems to be rushing to convict this guy wether he is guilty or not. I know there were some issues with the initial investigation which might actually acquit Zimmerman. But, we all need to stop and allow the Justice System deal with this issue. The system is not flawless but it is the best we got and the best in the world. I was only disturbed by one instance, when Robert Z Jr misquoted a statement by Trayvon to his girlfriend, saying Trayvon told her "I am not going to run I am going to walk slow"...this had NEVER been stated in any acounts. According to the statements in the media Trayvon said he wasn't going to run he was going to walk FAST. When there was no follow up to his statement about that I just imagined that you didn't hear it then and would catch it on the play back or one of the producers would point it out later. I would have liked to see Robert Z Jr been asked to retract and corret that statement.
All in all you did a great job as usual. Toure is RUDE and combative and did nothing to contribute to the conversation. He was insulting and now we will probably lose much needed international support for this movement because nut jobs like Toure will make them feel like they can't sympathesize with "American" issues...when in fact this is a justice issue and justice last time I checked was a human right.

I have rarely watched CNN in this time slot since Piers was hired. He bring a yellow tabloid type of journalism to CNN. His credibility is already suspect from the phone tapping scandal. Waqtching the video of the zimmerman arrest, it seems strange. Everytime I have ever seen a person arrested, even in TV shows, there is no time when the person in hand cuffs is walking alone. A police officer always has contact with the person that is under arrest. It seems like taking zimmerman to the police station was just for show.
Why not see where zimmerman lived, and see if the the shooting took place on the way to the target store, then get zimmerman's brother back on the air to back it up.
I've never heard such racist nonsense as the interview with Toure, it is he who is the racist, he seems to have a very blinkered memory as to all of the crimes/killings that black men do against whites e.g the 2 totally innocent boys in Florida in November last year that were shot and killed as a bet in Florida but there were no protests or bounties on these boys heads! Here is the deal Piers, you asked the reporter if he thought Zimmerman was guilty and he told you his honest opinion. Imagine if there were no 911 tapes or video showing how the story played out, than there would be a lot of hearsay about this case, but that is not the situation here. Those 911 tapes and the video clearly contradict the assertions Zimmerman has made. Zimmerman deserves a fair trial, but he also must be put on trial.
This was another example of the hysteria about the event in Fla. I was glad to see some one stand up for the " search for truth" as I was worried that ALL the networks were going the way of the " fair and balanced" one...and just sensationalism before any facts come out. I'll be watching the show just to see if it will still be unbiased for EVERYONE...

Touré was absolutely correct. Why didn't Piers show the same passion he showed towards Toure in the interview he did with Zimmerman? Piers pushed Toure but could not push Zimmerman on his crap. He was arrested. The lead investigator, first on scene did not believe Zimmerman's account of events. It was the state attorneys office that refused to charge Him. Arrest is different than being charged. What you are wanting is him Charged and to stand Trial.
There's this thing called probable cause that you need before arresting someone. I'm guessing the Eric Holder led justice dept isn't going to let this slide if there is enough for an arrest so everyone should slow their roll til the facts come out.

Piers, you did challenge zimmerman's brother throughout the interview and Toure is totally out of line critisizing you on that point, and speaking completely out of turn too in your interview. Toure seems to be very inflammatory and that kind of discourse does not help though I fully feel as I think you do that this case needs to be investigated thoroughly. You stood your ground in a very unreasonable discourse and handled it very graciously. Toure's way of talking does not help the black cause or civil discourse.

I, wholeheartedly, agree with Toure! Great job, Toure!! Of course, Trayvon was murdered. However you believe the incident happened...this one thing we know. George Zimmerman was TOLD by the police dispatcher to stop pursuing this young 17 year old boy and to let the police handle the situation. He refused to listen and continued to pursue the boy. The boy ends up dead!! That we know for a fact. His father & brother claim that his head was being bashed in to the point where he would've ended up in a nursing home. BULL! I don't see any signs of a beating like that in the arrest video. Maybe that's why the Mayor of the town stated the police department didn't want the video released. As one who has worked in the field of investigative interviewing for 25 years and literally co-wrote the book for investigators, Piers Morgan is one of the best questioners i have observed. No reason for my writing that other than it is my professional opinion. Investigative interviewers have to bite the bullet often to get information from subjects, to maintain narrative responses. I'm sure Mr. Morgan has personal opinions on just about everything, as do we all – one key to effective interviewing is to keep them talking without showing judgment. When an interviewer feels too passionately about a situation to conduct the interview, s/he must pass it off to another or become a community activist.

The primary point that has merit is that 6 years in America does not provide an understanding of race relations in this country. Pierc's disarming manner with the Zimmerman brother was extraordinarily effective at prompting Zimmerman to reveal to the world the absurdity of his assertions. Professionals like Pierce understand that direct confrontation is sometimes far less effective than prompting people to reveal themselves. And as for Toure....what a fool.

I was a little surprised at Toure. He knows full well that anger (and passive-aggression) is an emotional state that demands a reduction in the ability to reason, on the part of the person that experience it. It's a physiological neccessity. An angry person motivation is to make others afraid, or angry themselves. Both of those emotions (anger and fear) ,demands a reduction in the ability to reason. Piers options were to become afraid, or be "more angry" than Toure. The latter would force Toure to be afraid. Again, neither of those emotions are ones where a person is capable of reasoning very well.
Piers wants to teach Toure how to be a professional journalist? Does that include how to wiretap celebrity phones? Even the guy on CNN at 5:00 had the courage to challenge Zimmermans brother when he said the whole thing could have been avoided if someone had come out to help during the scuffle. What bull***. The whole thing could have been avoided if George Zimmerman had not taken it upon himself to stalk Trayvon Martin and followed the 911 dispatchers orders to stop following him! Piers Morgan is a wonderful interviewer and journalist. This Toure guy is exactly what he is accusing Piers of being; unprofessional. As an interviewer Piers has truly caught the true "American" demeanor and feel for most situations. After all, these traits aren't that different from the British perspective in any case. Toure impresses me as a very prejudiced, unprofessional dilettante, and a bully as well.
Piers, I think you did the right thing in allowing the Zimmerman family to express their side of the story as a part of professional and balanced reporting. Toure was completely out of line with his display of disrespectful conduct while participating in your show and his attack of your journalistic skills was pitiful to say the least. While I'm not partial to either side of the story, I do appreciate the forum you provide to hear what each side has to say. After hearing Toure's criticism of your actions, it makes one wonder if he has his own agenda to promote, relying on shock value and belligerence to achieve it. I just saw the interview and Toure split Piers a new one. Clearly I agree with Toure and it is about time someone called Piers on his interview skills. CNN either need to allow Piers do his fluffy interview or get someone else who can handle in depth interviews....Toure good for you for making the media world accountable.

You simply don't understand as to what Toure was trying to say. The problem is with America's Justice System and laws; regrettably, they do not protect African-Americans. In fact, the history of America shows that African-Americans have been targeted by just the color of their skin. No matter what color, race, and/or culture someone is: if your child no matter what age was shot and killed the way that Trayvon Matin was murdered: you and everyone else would want to know what happen. Thank God in Trayvon's Case, there was 911 tapes and witnesses, for too many African-Americans are killed in this country; and the Justice System fails to bring their killers to justice. Zimmerman, should have been arrested period, based on all the evidence which shows clearly what was up. I am an Muti-Racial African American woman who weighs 128 lbs, and if George Zimmerman should have stalked me like he did Trayvon Martin (remember, he was not an officer of the law and did not identify himself). I would have stood my ground and fought George Zimmerman, but he would of shot me too...just for being black and trying to defend myself..

It made me and other very uncomfortable that young man was able to come and tell what he "Thinks" happen to his brother w/o ever seeing evidence that Trayvon Martin actually beat Zimmerman up like that. Yes, you're correct. If Piers was a good journalist, he would ask the necessary questions to trap Robert Zimmerman into delving deeper in about his brothers past. Piers, simply isn't a good enough journalist. Frankly, he and his producers just had on Robert Zimmerman for ratings. I missed the beginning of the show and had to look up Toure on line to see who he is...."a cultural critic"?? What I appreciate about Piers and his refreshing British self (!) is his objectivity, professionalism, willingness to have both sides of a situation represented, ability to listen and interact effectiively – all without "picking a side" before the facts are known. Whatever is true or untrue about what Robert Zimmerman discussed with Piers, Zimmerman was very articulate and deserved to be heard. In contrast to both Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Morgan, Toure acted in a rude, disrespectful and unprofessional manner. Much will be revealed after medical records for George Zimmerman are released. For now, I perhaps the effort and time of people may be better spent in repealing or changing the law that has allowed the situation to occur. And I hope the "weight of American history" is not a factor in what needs to be an objective review of known facts in this specific occurance.
Piers I have been a fan since your show began but you really impressed as a complete professional tonight . I admired your restraint while you let this Toure person make a total jerk of himself. His sincerity is what I'm doubting right now and I see him as being confrontational and it seemed more about him making a name for himself and trying to pick a fight rather than focus on Trayvon and justice for him. As an African American male, I have never been more embarrassed about another African American male presuming to speak on behalf of all of us and about our shared experienced as a people. Toure, unfortunately, fuels the unwanted bigotry and hatred we see spreading with ever greater intensity behind the unfortunate and devastating experience of the loss of young Trayvon Martin. While, Toure's point regarding the unfair treatment of our people in this country is true, his personal attack on Piers was unfair, uncalled, for offensive. The fact that Piers, allowed him to have even more than a 5 minute say on his show, even after he spewed his poisonous hatred truly showed the kind of journalist Piers Morgan is, classy. Toure, you have vilified the wrong person and you have created a distraction from the real issue at hand, shame on you man. You have, in effect, used the death of Trayvon Martin and the pain we all feel for his family, for your own personal agenda, to discredit Piers Morgan. Piers brought both sides of a very serious situation for us to digest and respectfully allowed his audience to be the judge. I sincerely regret this encounter turned out to be so ugly. Toure was excessively harsh and out rightly personalized the matter...it is important to remain objective when temperatures are this high.
Well I'm a Plutonian and had to leave Pluto because it is too small and I kept falling off so now I am in America and I am amazed how many African Americans support Morgan by first identifying their heritage. Wow! America has come a long way.
Unfortunately, whether we want to admit it or Plutonian, race is the issue Toure brought up here, not what celestial body one hails from, maybe that's why you missed the point, you're not an earthling (lol). I just wish they would've had the conversation at a later date, just the two of them. That interview really hurt because, I knew hateful things would be said by his family member. I'm also Black, 48yrs. old, and the Mom of a 24 yr. young man whom I worry about everything he leaves the hse. NO, Piers didn't challenge the brother enough for the truth...the video that shows George is quite conclusive, as to his injuries. This is another example of how America views People of color. Even to the extent that Zimmerman's ethnicity as a Hispanic ( white) is being ignored. The problem here is that had this been a person of color who had done the stalking and shooting ANYWHERE in this country ( even without that ridiculous FL. Law) we would NOT be having this conversation...The shooter would be in jail and America would have him/ her guilty in the court of public opinion. Piers – Why did you ask Toures if believed that Zimmerman shot Treyvon? Everyone knows that he shot the teen and all the evidence so far shows that the Zimmermans are lying. MSNBC is doing a lot better job in covering this story and analyzing the stories of George's father, brother, and so-called friend, Oliver. It was stated earlier this evening that the brother has actually not spoken to George in years, not even since the incident. Last night, MSNBC showed a timeline of events from the time the friend was on the phone with Treyvon to the time when Zimmerman was getting out of the police car. The total time span was approximately 35 minutes. The police arrived at the scene at 7:17 PM and arrived at the police department with Zimmerman around 7:51 PM. The ride to the police department was approximately 20 minutes so that would have left 10 minutes for paramedics to take care of a broken nose and a head wound, and for police to question Zimmerman. There's no way that could have taken place . . . and where's the bandages in the surveillance video? There's not any because Zimmerman lied. I'll be so glad when he's arrested and charged!

Journalism is about presenting and listening to all different viewpoints. We enjoy Piers' show often because oh his guests' diverse opinions and Piers' articulate inquiries. After 20 years of practicing law, it is clear to me that only a jury may ultimately get to decide whether George Zimmerman is criminally liable for a violation of Florida law in this case. We have a responsibility as citizens to examine what this horrible tragedy means for our country and communities so that we can learn and evolve. This evening "Toure" did nothing to advance a respectful or productive dialogue. His display was arrogant, discourteous, and vulgar. If he appears on screen again in my home, I will hit the "off" button.

Toure does have a point and a very serious one. Given the serious nature of the recent events I would of hope that CNN would of given serious thought to whether it would be wise to give Mr. Zimmerman's brother airtime on CNN. Why? Because of what Americans are starting to witness from some on the far right which MSNBC's Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough criticized this morning on his show, which is Irrational thinking coming from Zimmerman supporters on the far right. Given that CNN should have had prior knowledge of some of the right wing push back, a more vigorous questioning of what Zimmerman's brother would of been in order. I watch the show and Mr. Morgan did question some of the statements that Mr. Zimmerman's brother made but he did not follow through like most serious journalist would have. When you have citizens willing to believe anything, it doesn't mean that you should feed them anything. It like the big Sarah Palin lie about death panels. Just because she said it doesn't mean CNN should be the source that the lie flows through. If you interview her you have a responsibility to challenge her not with a wink and a smile but with a seriousness as serious as the lie that she decided to told. Why? Because as a journalist you have a responsibility to your viewers,. unlike FOX news which appears not doesn't care whether their viewers are being fed half truths or lies.

As an African American, I disagree with Toure regarding your interview of Robert Zimmerman. While I, too, believe that George Zimmerman is guilty, I appreciate your professionalism and style of interviewing. The fact that you allowed Robert to express himself without lambasting him (as Toure would have had you do) made Robert comfortable to the point of saying things that really made him appear even more unreliable than if you were more harsh with him. I believe that challenging Robert more than you did would not have produced the effect that Toure thinks it would have. I think you handled things appropriately and quite well!

I think Piers is a true "twit" in the finest sense of the word. I think Toure' is right that Piers is not familiar enough with the history of race relations in this country especially from a black perspective to understand how this whole debacle has been a slap in the face of blacks. I Piers needs to ask if Zimmerman had shot a white upper class white boy how would the result be different. What if Zimmerman had been black and Trevon a hispanic? If this had happened in various other parts of the country how would that have affected the outcome. While Toure was no doubt over the top, and his playing the Freedom Rider card was a bit of a low blow – your attacks on him were largely unwarranted. Accusing him of not being professional was unnecessary and your hurling around "fatuous" was defensive and undignified. The TRUTH in Toure's comments are not what he can PROVE but in what he BELIEVES, that Millions of Americans of all colors UNDERSTAND. Even when the evidence is preponderant, yet another Family of color must wait until it is exhaustively confirmed by law enforcement who have already proven their prejudice. When white folk experience this, our history is understanding is short, our actual experience is limited. But many of us have come to understand that the PAIN of our black brothers and sisters goes back BEFORE slavery. And that PAIN is earned again every time this kind of ugly incident resonates for over 150 years.
Another way to see this is that some Americans tell their children the stories of slavery, the Civil War, Tuskegee,
the Second World War, the Civil Rights Era, the Birmingham Bombings and more recently James Craig Anderson and more and more and more. And then they have to answer their children's questions. As their parents have done, and as their children will do, their history of continual loss, continual injustice. True, many of us have the LUXURY of telling these same stories to our children- but we are at a distance, only rarely are our sons imprisoned or our families destroyed.
Piers, get a grip. You will be a better reporter if you can be more open about these issues. We will never be Black, but we will learn that some questions intended as objective carry a history with them that is all and only be and can only about PAIN.

I like leaving people to have their say without pushing them to much, I feel that it encourages them to talk with more freedom, to lie with more freedom or express themselves truthfully with more freedom and that in the end allows me to know more about them but I am willing to talk to people often and for hours and expect to get to the truth some three years later, a situation not everyone can enjoy. However i have meet people who get cross with this way of behaving as Toure does with you and the problem seems to be that if you are not fast to proclaim your own principles, then you might be confused with a unprincipled person yourself and so they have learnt to be fast expressing their disaproval or they feel that you should be impressing principles on others not listening to them. It is not so much that you did not force information out of him that gets people who always expect other to attack those they interview with fervour, as that you did not learn them when they felt it was time to give them a lesson, though Toure pretends it was that you should have pumped the information out of him. As to pumping information i would disagree that being very challening is what allows you to know people but it seems that the sort of people who think you should be very quick to tell others were to get off come to think that doing so is an interrogation technique.
People arent just whatever humor they are said to have, it is not htat htat humor is part of their make up, in this case that the english are phlegmatic, they are brought up to be that way, arguements are used by parents and such, to persuade them of the benefits of being dispassionante and of the dangers of being to hasty and coming to an unfair conclusion, of the worth of letting everyone have their say while th emore billious believe that there is never any time like now to tell a spade he is a spade.
I found it interesting that Zimmerman should talk as he did, I thought, " am I whatching a man go a really long way in lying to defend their brother, or has his brother, scared stiff by what he has just done made up a whopper and broken his own nose or is this may be all true. It will be very interesting if it turns out that Zimmermans brother was lying because it is always interesting to know what faces people put on while they pull the wool over your eyes.
I love whatching people talk as they do if allowed to talk and waiting to see, but maybe, if there is a court case impending and the brother of zimmerman allowed to lie in public, he will cause a great impression on people who believe him and it is better not to let him lie so it could lead justice astray. On the other hand this interveiw brought out the interesting reply of the woman who is if i remember right defending Treyvon Martin who said that as long as he does not say he spoke to his brother he can say what he wants as he will never be put in the witness box.
There is the possiblility that you shout him down in the interveiw, possibility the impassioned Toure wanted and then again if you let him gable on without scaring him to much, you provide and open feild for others to pull him to peices afterwards, which is one clever way of going about things. I have often wondered if interveiwers on CNN did not let people talk so as to get information they and others on the news channel, could work on at another time. Piers did his best with Zimmerman's brother and not being aggressive with him was even a good tactic to say the least because Zimmermans seems to be weakening their defense with multiple versions of the story.
Emotion seems to be running out of control. I could understand where all of these are coming from. Nonetheless, I think Toure was being harsh on Piers tonight. It is true that Piers is a foreigner here but that doesn't mean he did not understand the plight of black people or not qualified to talk about it. I would have preferred both of them showing a level of civility as opposed to personal attacks on who is more professional. The least we want is this tragedy turning into a personality clash of some sort. I have a lot of respect for both Toure and Piers. I hope they continue to be civil towards one another.
This story very well may define this decade. With racisim running rampant because of our president's color, frank discussions and HARD discussions are what's needed. Morgan failed in his interview with Zimmerman's brother by trying to be polite. Polite does not cut it in this story. This a a HUGE defining moment for us as a society and it calls into question all sorts of things regarding laws, law enforcement and our justice system. Zimmerman's brother was making claims NOT supported by facts and he SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THEM. That is Entertainment Tonight journalism, NOT what this story requires. I am a 37 year old black female and I wanted to jump through the screen and yank Toure off the show. He was an embarrassment. Why did he keep saying Morgan "allowed" Zimmerman's brother to say certain things. What the hell was he supposed to do, he's a JOURNALIST. He's supposed to let all parties speak their side no matter how ridiculous it may sound. And if Toure had an ounce of sense, he may have been able to figure out that by Morgan "allow"ing the brother to go on on, made the family's side of the story look ridiculous. Kinda of like how at one point Morgan let Toure talk for a good minute so America could see how asanine he sounds. He "allowed" that. And attacking Morgans lack of knowledge or compassion and saying "that's not how we do it in America" was beyond moronic. How do we do it in America Toure? How would you have interviewed the brother? What thought provoking and deep "rooted" questions would you have posed? Again, you're an embarrassment to journalists, blacks and human beings everywhere.

Toure' exemplified all that is wrong with the current state of American journalism. When did we devolve into a culture that requires rudeness, interruption, and agitation to express opposing views in the media? Piers, I withheld an immediate responce so that I could go back and review your interview with Robert Zimmerman. It is my opinion that you piers'd every aspect of this young mans responce, defences, deceptions, etc. without being judgemental. I generally only watch your show based on who you are interviewing (if I am a fan of the person). However, this interview taught me what a true journalist is. It is definitely not trying and judging a man to gain personal notariety. As an African American man I must admit that I was initially biased against George Z, but am now more inclined to side with the justice system in the hopes that the truth is vigorously pursued and justiced fairly rendered. Now, it is extremely unfortunate that Toure chose to publicly render a verdit based on emotion and not the facts, as they are discovered by investigation. How that affects Toure's career and personal life will be what he invited. Sad. Anyway, Robert Z was a pretty intelligent defender of his brother, but you did question him at every point, by what is known and did not condem him upon profoundly obvious inaccurate statements. I think that I will perhaps watch you more often from now on. Oh, by the way, for Toure to say that you should go back to Brittain is as racially biased as anyone could be.

As much as I like Piers (where I've thought he has always been so gracious when I've seen him do interviews; however; with this particular interview, I actually thought the interview with George Zimmerman's brother was quite light weight as Tore suggested. It seems that the brother of George Zimmerman didn't look at the actual facts surrounding Trayvon Martin's case; (i.e.: the 911 tapes is excellent evidence and source which CLEARLY SHOWS the type of mindset that George Zimmerman had especially at the moment in time; the day he murdered Trayvon Martin. Piers could have asked more direct questions; like have you seen your brother’s injuries in person and/or have you seen the actual Medical Reports that showed if your brother had inquiries or not? Are you aware, that your brother has a problem background? Piers, could have really asked questions that would reveal that the brother was actually making up (make believe scenarios) that would make people think that George Zimmerman was an altar boy.
Also, Trayvon Martin didn't know ZIP about George Zimmerman nor did George Zimmerman know ANYTHING about Trayvon Martin (except the fact that he was a black teenager). All that was said out of George Zimmerman’s mouth which, (no one was putting a gun to George Zimmerman's head to say ALL those negative racist things about an innocent young black teen who was just walking along the sidewalk to a where is father was;’ so to finish watching a sports game on TV). With that 911 tape, as well as, the tape of George Zimmerman and witnesses that heard and saw Zimmerman after he killed Trayvon, as well as, getting out of the car at the police station (clearly needing no assistance) and/or showing no obvious signs of having a life or death fight that Zimmerman claimed he had.
Zimmerman’s brother didn’t say ANYTHING that would make me feel that George Zimmerman is this wonderful nice guy who was acting in self-defense on the “Stand Your Ground Law”. George Zimmerman, his father, his brother and his so called friends like Oliver in my mind after seeing their interviews, seem that the Zimmerman family and friends, and Sanford Police Department major in the ART OF LYING. I agree with Tore, that Piers could have ask questions that WOULD NOT ALLOW Zimmerman’s brother to grand stand so to further confuse the world and/or viewers about a murder that should have never happened. George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin in cold blood which, therefore, Zimmerman was Trayvon’s murderer, judge, jury, and executioner on that doomed day. African-Americans have been wrongfully targeted, abused, killed, hung, burned, beaten, and profiled for at least 300 years in this Country by folks who are simply intolerant of people who have a skin color darker than their own. Pier has to understand the history behind why African-Americans are tired of the in justices that we have suffered for years. Racist people are evil, for they want to destroy instead of celebrate the diversity that African-Americans can bring to the table. Piers also let the lawyer for martins family say that three witnesses confirmed the screaming for help was Martin, although that statement was complete BS. She was respectful though, so he treated her respectfully. Same with Zimmermans brother. I don't really see the problem.

Why is there no medical attention for Zimmerman's injury' at scene of the crime, the police department are not medical responders. Zimmerman should have been seen by medical responders to verify injury at scene of the crime. Claim on Peir's Morgan: Zimmerman's brother states his broken nose in his medical history (Zimmerman's past) who is to say Zimmerman's nose was broken at scene of crime or did Zimmerman use a past injury. Case in my perspective Zimmerman called 911 and was told not to pursue. Zimmerman is guilty.

So Toure didn't suddenly get angry on the show, There had been taunts and criticisms going on for a while. And by the way, Toure was right. Piers was soft on Robert Zimmerman. That interview was all about ratings for him, and he allowed RZ to spout off nonsense without really challenging him. In that regard, his journalistic integrity was off...
Here's the law. The case turns on the issues of "pursuit," "removal of a child", (17 years old) an whether Traavon was a "lawful resident." Yes he was. He was staying with his father and his father's fiance. Remember, police report verifies that this child gained access by using his pass code at the entrance gate.

I believe there's a majority of anchors and reporters that have a fixed opinion of Trayvon Martin death. Do I expect them to state it like Tour'e did, absolutely NOT. Piers has asked anyone in the last few weeks what their opinion is, personally, legally, speculatively; he's had experts on, he's had the Martins, their attorneys, and now Zimmerman's brother appear. Was he to grill the brother as Tour'e would with total bias or to ask questions for the rest of us to consider. Why is that people would like to start a sentence by saying: "I am black from....; I from Jamaica ....; I am middle aged black man ... etc." Not to say, you can't say that? i respected piers choice to interview toure. toure sounded very brash in his assessments. having said that i will also say that journalists lost focus with this story. cnn among other news outlets took a position in this story, which is hypocritical of the journalists who did this. i have noticed that journalists like Anderson cooper and Erin Burnett take positions/sides in a lot of the stories they air. i respect the journalists at cnn i have been watching them since i was a child but i feel you take positions so hastily with your stories that the way you potray them is not honest. the issue of race was brought up and is such a deep issue now because the media potrayed it as so. race is not the issue the issue should be that a neighbourhood watchman shot and killed a young man who was unarmed. whether he is charged with murder or manslaughtershould be the question. trayvon is not the only 17 year old who has lost his life to guns, in fact alot of young black men kill each other. here is a thought. The dispatcher did not ask for the race of Trayvon after the 1st time but Zimmerman had to let him know 4 more times. How anybody knowing the facts could think that this case is about anything other than race, speaks loudly about how many people do NOT know what they are talking about or choose to walk around with blinders on!!! Iowa is overrun by meth addicts. Blacks aren't even 3% of the population so you can't blame blacks for the meth addiction issue there. Not to mention countless other states where cocaine, heroin and meth are on the rise. This is not about blacks being more criminal-minded than whites. Whites commit as much crime, if not more than blacks and Hispanics. This is about opportunities and the lack, thereof. That's why blacks are locked up more often than their white counterparts committing the exact same offenses!

I saw the interview last night. Piers was a gentleman. I like Toure', but tonight he was out of control. Sure, I, too, was frustrated by Zimmerman's comments and felt he was untruthful. Keep doing the right thing, Piers, despite adversity and your life will be truly blessed.
I think Piers did a great interview with Robert Zimmerman. While watching it I thought he challenged him on many occasions. I think Toure only wants one side of the story to come out. Everyone keeps saying that they hear a boy screaming on the 911 tape. When I first listened to it, I thought it sounded like a man screaming so thought it had to be Zimmerman, then I heard that all the photos I've been seeing of Martin were 5 or 6 years old and he was actually 17 and over 6 feet, so it could have been either one, but definately not a little boy. And why do people keep saying that George Zimmerman weighed 250 pounds when he is actually 5' 8" and 170 pounds. And why does everyone keep saying that Zimmerman was told not to follow Martin but he kept doing it? If you listen to the 911 tape he say okay that he would stop and you can tell that he does stop running then he continues to tell the 911 operator where he will be waiting by his vehicle when the police get there. I have heard that there was actually an eye witness that gave a statement to police that night that saw the whole thing, the family has talked about it and the police have said that is why he was not arrested. I wish Florida could release all the information so there would not be so much gossip. I think the best thing to do would be to arrest Zimmerman, release all the correct information and let justice take its court instead of trying this case in the court of public opinion on gossip and rumors.

You were firm, but not rude and should be applauded for being the first person to have any of the Zimmerman family on your show. Secondly, it was actually brave of George's brother to appear on nationwide TV that could have been risking his life with all of the angry racial hatred going on.
As a last note, Toures said "You don't know about what goes on in America." But obviously, Toures doesn't know that in America a person is INNOCENT until proven guilty and they have a right for a fair hearing. And he also obviously doesn't know that in the court of law, George Zimmerman will have the right for HIS side of the incident to be heard.
You were fair and professional. This is a tragic story regardless of the color of Trayvon's skin, but unfortunately, this is what happens every single time. But if Trayvon had been "white" where would Toures and all of the other racists be? They would not say one word about it. Unfortunately, Toures needs to go to an "anger management class," and then he needs to be taught about the America's legal system as to what happens when a crime is committed. There are TWO sides that must be heard before a Judge can make a fair decision on the case. Toures has already made up his mind about what happened when he doesn't have a clue as to what happened, nor does anyone else at this time other than George Zimmerman. The truth will come out and our court system will try George Zimmerman accordingly.
But the most scary thought is in knowing there are racist like Toures and others out there who are ready to have a lynch mod to take care of George Zimmerman without a trial. So, it is Tores who is NOT a professional journalist - you did handled the interview appropriately. Remember this: "People who belitte someone else - IS LITTLE!!!

You sound like a racist and you seem to be unaware of the fact that you write things that would be considered racist. What upsets many people, both white and black, about this case is that Zimmerman was not arrested even though there was 'probable cause' to arrest him. You also do not seem to understand how the legal process works. An arrest is not a conviction of guilt. Yes, you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, you can be arrested if it is 'believed' that you may have committed a crime under the law.
Here is the deal – Zimmerman is GOING to jail and in there he will get his "Black Justice" that you can count on. The police department at Sanford; you dudes are out of a job. Heads will roll starting tomorrow, watch your TV as the demonstrators flood the police department. I DON'T KNOW HOW ANY OF YOU CAN CALL TOURE names when all his asking for (in-artfully) is that this Zimmerman animal be arrested. It may take a while but he is going down. Hey Blue Chip, Journalistically Peirs Morgan is the new Gold Standard and Toure is just an arrogant and insignificant MSNBC mouthpiece. Peirs Morgan is very hardhitting and substantive in his approach. Just because he doesn't engage in yelling or name calling does not change that fact. It only makes him more compelling to watch. Toure seriously damaged his television career tonight. I suspect that in a few months you'll have to find him over at Current Tv because he is not ready for and does not posess the proper temperment needed for primetime. Toure is clearly a racist. I hope MSNBC fires him if he does not offer a sincere apology to Peirs Morgan.
Steve D, Ok, I will try this a little differently...., Pier's show on CNN is a different format and genre from what the story deserves. He ventured into "investigative journalism" which is not his strong point. You should know that Pier's last job was like American Idol. I would not be too quick to call Toure a racist, I am assuming you understand what that word means..., perhaps you don't. Toure is pop-culture and his appearance on that show was not in the capacity of a journalist, he was on there as concerned african american citizen who felt he deserved more from piers' interview with Robert. Hey Blue Chip, Wow, a thoughtful reply, I am impressed though I totally disagree. Peirs Morgan has every right to delve into any subject he wants on his own show. Morgan clearly has strong journalistic chops and his opinion is very well informed. I dont see how a cultural/pop; commentator like Toure has any more right than Mr. Morgan to discuss this matter. You can defend Toure all you want and spin his childish uninformed and judgemental tirade all you want, but the prevailing view out there in the news world and the blogisphere is that he did the cause for justice in this case a great deal of harm. I always liked this Toure and found him to be quite humorous. Particularly when he appeared on VH1 programming. However, he is way out of his league here and revealed himself as racist in that he believes white English men have no right to an informed opinion or to discuss a matter that involves anything to do with Black society.
What kills me here is that Peirs Morgan is clearly seeking to expose the truth in this matter and to my mind has conducted his interviews with a high level of profesionalism. Morgan clearly beleives something is amiss with Zimmermann's story. Morgan is correct to let the facts come out before making a final judgement. However, what is also clear is that for people like Toure nothing less than an outright attack and conviction in the press on Zimmermann and his brother will do. Toure like Spike Lee did the cause for justice in this case a great deal of harm with their kneejerk responses and hysterical tweets. If Zimmerman is eventually arrested and convicted it will likely be appealed again and again and possibly overturned because of the poisoned political atmosphere they helped create. No verdict in the case will ever be trusted now. How does that serve society? Now if you've really been following the case, most of the same leaders who initially rushed to judgement in this case have suddenly gone silent as it is apparent that neither of the individual involved in this case were angels. To my mind, this case is about a tragic death, but it is also about whether or not as a society we need young neighborhood watch vollunteers with no proper police training to be armed and it is also about Florida's Stand Your Ground Law. I think that Zimmerman is most likely guilty of manslaughter, but the facts need to come out at trial before I can make a final judgement for myself. If Zimmerman is prosecuted for murder instead of manslaughter there is a high likelyhood he will walk because it will be very difficult to prove he woke up that day intending to kill someone. Everyone needs to chill and tone down the inflammatory rhetoric.

Mr. Morgan's extraordinary defensiveness and personal attacks on Toure' were the most unprofessional behaviors I have ever seen on any news channel (outside of Fox"News" which I do not consider a news channel) the past five decades. Mr. Morgan obviously does not understand the depth of racial conflict in America. Perhaps he should talk with the Southern Poverty Law Center to get more educated before he carries on any more personal attacks on people who do understand the depth of those issues. I object to news media granting George Zimmerman's relatives air time to spread their stories and opinions, so I guess Mr. Morgan would personally attack me like he did Toure'. What a major disappointment for CNN.

I love this country. we all get to tell our opinion without fear of arrest by the government. we live in a great country. Hopefully the Justice system will work in this case. If zimmerman is quilty he should go to jail. But no matter what happens, he should be giving a fair trial. And we have to accept whatever the justice system finds. I am afraid of what will happen if Zimmerman is found innocent. Please just remember that most people believe O.J. was quilty of killing his white wife but whites didnt start killing blacks when he was acquitted. racially motivated crime qoes both ways. He ask hard demanding questions over and over again and made the "friend" admit out of his own admission, that Gorge and he are not friends and spoke last before the killing.

The manner in which he was insensitive to Toure who was a guest on on his show was deplorable. I watched because a friend told me about the interview.
You're absolutely RIGHT! Piers simply wanted to sensationalize the issue so that his ratings would increase. He's a former editor of Rupert Murdoch's News of the World newspaper. You know the paper that's in trouble for hacking into celebrity's phones and other improprieties. That's the kind of tabloid journalist Piers Morgan is. He was insensitive to Toure and wanted nothing more than to fight with him on TV. At the end, Toure got it. I could see he had said what he wanted to say and realized Piers was clueless and was happy remaining as ignorant about racial issues in America after the interview as he was before the interview! Maybe the lightbulb might flicker, slightly, in days to come in that big bone head of Piers Morgan!

While I agree that Zimmerman’s brother was really not credible and I am nowhere near Piers’ biggest fan, Toure was WAY out of line. Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave right now. Toure, take notes: A REAL journalist allows a guest to speak without calling bull on every answer. Unless you have a crystal ball, you DON’T know what happened on that night, so even if it doesn’t make sense, he has every right to say his piece in front of an OBJECTIVE interviewer. Furthermore, who the hell are you to tell Piers that he can’t do an interview properly because he doesn’t understand the deep-seated “pain” in the U.S. (translation: because he’s not black). Talk about racism. And oh my god, don’t get me started on invoking Emmett Till’s name! You should be ashamed of yourself and MSNBC should rethink your contract.
