George Zimmerman's attorneys speak out in defense of their client

As the Trayvon Martin case continues to dominate the national headlines, on Wednesday "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed the lawyers for George Zimmerman.

As the host and his guests debated and detailed elements to the case – including racial profiling, gun-control, self-defense, and the media – the interview became passionate, and at times, contentious:

"The one thing we know as a fact is that George Zimmerman was attacked by Trayvon Martin. He was punched in the nose, he was taken to the ground, his head was beaten on the ground," said Zimmerman Attorney Craig Sonner. "And he acted in self-defense when Trayvon Matin was shot. That's the facts that we know."

Hal Uhrig meanwhile, encouraged waiting for all the information, and cautioned against jumping to conclusions:

"You can chose your opinions, but you can't choose your facts. Where we're going to find the facts is when the investigation is entirely completed. Neither the Sanford Police Department, nor the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, nor the Department of Justice, nor the Special Prosecutor owe you, or me, or the public, the luxury of giving us every little fact as they do their investigation," said the Zimmerman attorney. "When they're done – if we'll be a little patient, and not convict him ahead of time – we'll find out how those facts apply to the law.

Watch the clips, and listen to the discussion, as Sonner and Uhrig discourage trying the case in the court of public opinion, and maintain that the facts will eventually come to the forefront.

I just love Piers Morgan;) He is the icon of modern day journalist (point of view, not facts) In this case he has taken his side and sticking with it, who cares what is even close to the truth. There was a true tragedy what happened but please, we still have to rely on the justice system if we want our society to go on. So Piers, hold on your horses for judging people before the trial.

The problem for blacks in America today.
One out of every three young black males will face illegal searches by police and are arrested for possession charges. The result is a criminal history and a deep seeded anger and hatred towards police and whites. (Justifiably so)
      The solution
End the war on drugs. The war on drugs has failed and has resulted in an explosion of U.S. citizens being incarcerated and has created a criminal and violent environment especially for black youths.
Obama is not the answer but is part of the problem.
Huge special interest unions back Obama. The police union, prison guard unions, construction unions to build prisons. We the United States imprison more of its citizens then any other country in the world. The prison stocks are traded on Wall Street based upon the number of people in prison.
So as long as the war on drugs continues then the war on black youths will continue. Obama will sell you out to the interest of the big unions just like he sold out everyone to the big banks.
      RON PAUL 2012

All this rhetoric is nothing more than the cause and effects of a failed policy.
P.S. Piers Morgan is a pompous arrogant A hole

Normally I like Piers Morgan but tonight he came across as shrill and totally biased in his interview of Zimmerman's lawyers. He came off as totally biased and he went so far as to suggest a possible defense of a possible attack of Zimmerman as self defense itself. It is silly and naive to dislike Florida's law and suggest that regardless of the law, Zimmerman must be guilty. What would have happened in the UK is irrelevant. Very poor job. This guy's emotions and the tragedy itself has twisted his judgement.

Yeah, it's really stupid to disagree with a law that has literally tripled justifiable homicides since it's inception. What idiocy! But hey, so long as you 'Mericans are killing each other in record numbers, the rest of the world is happy.

I have a good idea. Since Mr. Morgan says he perfers British law to the laws of America, why not go back there. We don't care so much for british law here. After all that is why we don't have a queen or king any more.

Piers, innocent until proven guilty, or is it guilty until proven innocent?? In your case you are saying GUILTY until proven innocent when you don't even know the facts!! How could you possibly argue so much without knowing anything?? Media, Piers, you just went down about 10 knotches in my book. Wish I could throw rotten fruit your way and buy you a ticket back to the UK.

My family has experienced the media attack few years ago and truly feel sorry for both of the families. This media intrusion is tough when you are not seeking for it and not prepared for it. All my feelings for both of the families. And Piers, your should not try to be the prosecuter ( I now I spelled in wrong, but I'm sure someone will correct me) or judge.

Mr Morgan, I also have a CCW permit to carry a hand gun, and I carry it every where that I go unless someone has posted not to. Mr Zimmerman had every right to be carring a hand gun no matter where he was and that is how are gun control laws work in the US. Sorry but your not in Britten anymore. I injoy watching your show all of the time but last nite you where wrong on are gun laws. I feel that maybe Mr Zimmerman should of found other means of protected him self rather then using a gun, maybe just fighting back would of been a beter out come, bad choice on his part but the law say's he had the right to be carring a gun. Thankyou Mr Morgan and keep the good work up. Tom

How do you fight back when someone has smashed your nose and has you pinned down by sitting on top of you and has your head in his hands and is bashing it into the cement or ground repeatedly? Trayvon was pumped up on adrenaline, he had made the decision to physically harm Zimmerman. George had no hair to pull on and was probably caught by surprise. Duh!

Let me state the OBVIOUS again. No one (any American of any race/gender) wants a highway stop and being given an expensive ticket. No one wants to get harassed by "cops" / nosy people in any context. Does that mean we should blow law enforcement officers away if no one is around (to avoid a ticket), or jump them and immobilize or kill them if we can sneak up on them?

Because you're absolutely sure that's just how it went down. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of police brutality or an overzealous neighborhood avenger but it happens in this world. Human beings like animals establish in an instant upon interfacing whether or not someone means them harm. I'm of the opinion that Mr. Martin would have continued on to his residential destination if he and Zimmerman passed on the sidewalk that night. Another very crucial ingedient was added for this scenario to go down the way it did.. Zimmerman posturing in a manner that made him feel like a threat and his confidence was infused by a 9 mm. Tell me, would you fight for your life if a plain clothed civilian Man approached you with a gun in the dark? You refer to adrenaline as if it were an ilicit street drug as if Trayvon had an unfair advantage when this is the normal response that you hope to have when your neurology knows your life is in danger. Trayvon Martin had every right to stand his ground that night. The voice on the tape crying for help is Trayvon's and that's well supported.. That was a Window in which Z could have retreated and Trayvon would have walked away with his life whether you value it or not.

The Sad thing is. No matter which side you find yourself on or believing, two lives have been destroyed. There are a lot of what ifs and who's who. But there can be no doubt that Trayvon is dead and George's life is ruined. Once again we see that we as AMERICANS still bare the scares of our past. So many people Black, White, Hispanic, Asian and many more have fought to make this country better and more accepting, still the scares of racism and injustice remain. So what happens NOW? Well as for Trayvon he's gone forever, George Zimmerman either will be found guilty or acquitted. The test of the AMERICAN will to truly for fill our melting pot moniker or descending into a race war. George Zimmerman, looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life and deep seated mistrust between the races surfaces. We as a NATION have come a long way since slavery, Thank GOD! We as a NATION must come together and heal our scares, I PRAY TO GOD!

Your right. We do need to come together as a nation and we do need prayer. But it all starts with the church. Unfortunately the church is busy with the Republican agenda when it should be out on the forefront of issues like this. I understand being conservative but the church goes right down the party line, issue for issue. Would Jesus fight for a law that basically allows people to shoot their fellow man down in the street and claim self-defense without being questioned about it? I love the church but I really don't understand it today.

No one is stupid, we all heard the 911 call. There is no struggle happening as the woman is on the phone. You can clearly hear Trayvon screaming for help after he spots Zimmerman now following him on foot. He tells his girlfriend right before the call ends, "he's back". That alone is evidence that contradicts Zimmerman's account. He says after he lost sight of Trayvon he was attacked. The girlfriend heard Zimmerman ask Trayvon "what are you doing around here?" that means at some point he was close enough to Trayvon to speak with him face to face. He was still on the phone with 911 when he lost sight of Trayvon because he said, "he ran" then after being told not to pursue him he says, "ok" but continues to pursue him anyway because he says right after that, "I can't find this guy" while on the call.
He refuses to tell officers where to meet him because he has plans to hunt for Trayvon, which he does. He finds him, Trayon's girlfriend hears the whole incident. The police don't even interview her. So this whole ridiculous story of self-defense and having his head banged on the concrete are completely fabricated. He was clean as a whistle when he was walked into the station, didn't have a scratch on him. If he was innocent the police would have leaked the photos of his injuries and the EMS reports by now just as the surveillance footage was released.

As well, why have you not risen as much of a furor over Shawn Tyson who was just found guilty of murdering two white (ENGLISH) guys who had mistakenly entered the wrong part of town. They were in Florida too, but I didn't see Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson down there beating their drums.

davel, You seem to not be aware that the police arrested the black youth ( real quick),who killed your Brits and put him on trial and he is now serving life in prison in FLORIDA. That how it works for white people including Internationals who can go to visit the state that long history of bias prejudice against black people still exist. The psychological imprecations of this taking so long for a black family that has lost a seventeen old son is that they don't have the same security. No matter what happen the impression has been made AGAIN that in USA blacks are still fair game to take advantage of. You get the point?

Byron, apologies for the delay in replying (Easter).
Firstly, my point here is not racially motivated other than to point out the fact that when 2 white kids get gunned down for being in the wrong place at the wrong time (as was Trayvon) The Reverend's Jessie and Al seem to have no interest, why is that. The police have garned the evidence at hand (and we, the black, white and hispanic public have no where near all the evidence/information) and made a decision on which way to proceed.
On your assumption, the Duke lacrosse players would be doing time right now wouldn't they.......... Perhaps being hasty to rush to judgement is not the best way to go.
Oh, and MY Brits....? How'd you figure that one, I'm Canadian. Perhaps another hasty jump to a wrong conclusion.....

Did you say hasty? There has been no rush to judgement. That's why after over a month, Zimmerman is still free. If it wasn't for Al and Jessie, you wouldn't even know about this case. They brought it to the forefront. I wonder if you were shot unarmed over a month ago if you parents would be saying "let's not rush to judgement"?

Craig, if I had been shot by someone defending themselves after I had attacked that person, my parent's initial question would be to ask ME why I had attacked anyone in the first place.............. With all the doctored 911 tapes and total misinformation being provided by the media (read the actual reports of the full tape with the dispatcher) just how do you know Zimmerman is guilty and needs to be charged. Rushing to judgement only fuels the passion of those with a different agenda other than the truth. Once again, I use the boys from Duke as a prime example. Given your supposed course of action and mob mentality, those boys (innocent boys) were never put on trial because, once ALL the facts were know y'know what, they were innocent. Go figurei

Just making that assumption shows prejudice. GZ was not arrested because there was no probable cause. The evidence at hand did not dispute his depiction – in fact the physical evidence supported it. You cannot assume if a black man killed a hispanic and everything else was identical, the laws would be applied differently. You have no evidence of that – only paranoia and psychological baggage leads you to that conclusion – certainly not evidence. Your belief does not make it fact. People have religious beliefs and although they convince themselves those beliefs are true, it does not make those beliefs facts. GZ is not going anywhere. He was questioned on videotape for 4+ hours that evening. Those closer videos will make his external wounds clearer But there are also internal wounds with head trauma, so we'll see that when medical records are released. If GZ was arrested a month ago or next week, he would still be released on bail awaiting an investigation/trial. Plenty of people are arrested months after a crime is commited when a thorough investigation warrants. GZ is not a flight risk. Arrest him then or arrest him now. What's the monumental difference? There really is no travesty of justice thus far. The attention has made the investigation that much more thorough. Due process IS justice. There is justice for ALL you know... We all want the truth. Justice is not revenge. Justice is the truth that is substantiated by fact, not conjecture and prejudice.

Did you say he was "arrested" and is now facing a life sentence in Florida? Ah, yes, well there is the rub. Trayvon's parents allegedly went three days without even knowing their son's whereabouts and a missing person's report was filed. And, furthermore, it's been, let's see...40 days without an arrest and proper investigation? Yes, Sharpton and Jackson went to Florida to stir up strife all right. Whenever blacks stand up, whites can't seem to tolerate it. Is it guilt? And why condemn Piers for stating the obvious fact of his origins? I can tell you this-no other industrialized nation has the crime that this one does. Somehow, you people who speak in this manner have no tolerance for anyone else's opinion but your own. It is so childish to simply say, "Well, go back to Britain", much in the same way you say, "Go back to Africa", to anyone who is logical and critical of this country. In case you didn't know, that is a RIGHT which was determined long ago when the founding fathers coined their democracy for the land that they had just pillaged from the Natives.

If there was such a fight that happened why was he laying face down after being shot and still had the iced tea and skittles in his hand?

I don't know what link you looked at, but these kids were burglarizing homes during school hours. It was very clearly stated in the news report. You can put your head in the sand, but that does not change reality. This is a crime that is repeated daily throughout America by teens. It doesn't matter if they are white, hispanic or black. Just because they are teens does not make them incapable of committing crimes. As the video clearly states, one of the 14-year-olds resisted arrest and had to be tazered. The officer only sees a suspect, they cannot determine age at first glance. It is fortunate the officer had a tazer, otherwise he could have been shot. The fact is that teenage criminals don't act any different than adult criminals just because they are minors.
Your reply to the comment clearly shows that you are one sided and didn't even pay attention to the details in the news report. Not unlike the Trayvon Martin case.

My family has had issues with the law in the past and courts, and I can tell you with all certanty you are guilty till proven innocent,, and that is just the way it is. I for one will be glad when the truth is out and he is charged or cleared which ever it is, I will say my thoughts are since no charges have been filed, there probably won't be. If the evidence was there it would have already happened and for the prosecutor not to send it to the grand jury tells me they don't want the public deciding after all the publicity on the case they would not be able to make clear judgement and that's a shame.

Piers did a great job interviewing the attorneys last night. I especially found the interview with the Zimmerman attorney very informative. They keep trying to sway people that "the public" wants to see him convicted etc. I can only speak for myself but basically i think people don't want to convict ..they would like the right steps to be followed. It doesn't seem that they were taken nor are being taken. Or if they are no one is telling the public therefore the public feels worried that this sort of thing can go on. Thanks Pierce for your intelligent journalism. I hope that for the poor kid and for his grief stricken family the justice begins and soon.

I have a CCW also and i know the laws. They clearly state that you "DO" have the right to shoot someone if you feel "threatened". But in this case after the Police call was listened to Zimmerman should have been arrested. He clearly was told by the dispatcher to stay in his car and "NOT" to pursue Martin. If anything if Martin had a CCW and was carrying a weapon he had more grounds to shoot Zimmerman for following him than a "GROWN MAN" Zimmerman provoking a fight with a "HIGH SCHOOL BOY". And stop with the people saying he had a bump on the back of his head when the police report clearly states the scuffle happened in the grass.

You are wrong, a 911 dispatcher is not a police officer and he was only told we don't need you to do that. He was under no obligation to obey any commands from the 911 dispatcher.

There are communities in which the 911 dispatcher are police officers. They are either doing light duty or that is part of their rotational duty. The questions is, is this community one of those. If it is, then Zimmerman was told by the police not to follow. "We don't need you to do that".

To BC – And when the dispatcher said, "OK, we don't need you to do that.", Zimmerman said, "OK". and if you actually LISTEN to the tape you will notice that his breathing and speech returned to a calm level, and he spent the rest of the discussion with the dispatcher talking about where and how to meet the police who were en route. At one point he even says, "I don't know where this kid is." How does that phone call at ALL support the argument that Zimmerman disregarded the dispatcher's advice/directive? it doesn't.

Zimmerman was NOT told to stay in his car. The dispatcher asked, "Are you following him?" Zimmerman said, "Yeah." The dispatcher said, "OK, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman replied, "OK". If YOU listen to the tape intently, you will hear Zimmerman's breathing and speech return to normal. In fact, a few moments later, Zimmerman says, "I don't know where this kid is." What evidence do you have that indicates that Zimmerman disobeyed the dispatcher?? You and so many others make that erroneous claim, but you fail to provide any evidence. Please do.

Everyone is using selective processing for the information that's in the media. In Zimmerman's statement to the police that was leaked and the Sanford PD confirmed, Zimmerman said he gave up chasing him and Martin then sought HIM out at his vehicle and initiated the altercation. Hence the reason the police followed the self-defense arguement.

I will not judge Mr. Zimmerman nor Mr. Martin based on their race or ethnicity, I will not pre-judge this tragic event based on what those in the media spread to propel their own personal interests and agenda. Let the REAL facts be assessed and reviewed by the professionals we pay to do that job. This event has an obvious undertone of racial tension, but Mr. Zimmerman did not create the tension and should not be publicly tried as though he has been everyone's tormentor. Not fair at all... In our judicial system, we are all innocent till proven guilty. Hopefully that hasn't been changed because of the color of HIS skin. Let justice prevail on the facts of this incident alone, not others' prejudice.

To Name*Will – Selective processing indeed! Because the phone call does NOT suggest that Zimmerman disregarded the dispatcher. It shows quite the opposite.

Re: Dolly's obvious lack of understanding. Zimmerman was already following Trayvon Martin when the dispatcher apparently noticed by his breathing and the sounds on his cell phone. The dispatcher asked, "Are you following him?" Zimmerman replied, "Yeah.". Upon hearing that, the dispatcher said, "OK, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman's response was "OK." After that you can hear Zimmerman's accelerated breathing (from following Martin at a fast pace), slow down, and his voice returned to a normal unlabored tone. For the remainder of the phone call, there were no more questions about what Martin was doing – just discussion about how Zimmerman would meet police who were en route. At one point, Zimmerman was apprehensive about telling the dispatcher his full address because (as Zimmerman stated), "I don't know where this kid is." I have asked many times of people like Dolly, please provide the evidence that Zimmerman disregarded the dispatcher's suggestion and that he continued to follow Martin after the dispatcher suggested he not do so. I will wait.

Imagine that you are walking home from the local convenience store when you realize you are being followed. You try to elude your follower only to end up face to face with him. He confronts you and a physical altercation ensures. During the struggle you realize the person following you is armed and intent on doing you bodily harm....wouldn't you fight for your life? What if the outcome was a bit different and Trayvon would have killed Zimmerman. Is there any doubt that Trayvon would not be in jail right now with every cop in Sanford calling for the death penalty?

I am 47 years old and a veteran of a Detroit childhood. If I were in that situation I would have done everything within my power to subdue Zimmerman and to survive.

Gary, I am from Detroit as well. Your post is exactly what I was thinking. Travon was the one fearful of his life, not Zimmerman. Why would Zimmerman fear for his life pursuing someone with a gun. He wanted to be a hero. If he feared for his life, he would have kept his distance. Oops! I killed an unarmed man. Oh no, I killed a boy with skittles and tea. What am I going to do? I have to think of something quick. Oh, I was standing my ground. Wow!

Why would Zimmerman shoot Trayvon in the first place if Trayvon had only asked, "why are you following me"? Zimmerman didn't follow Trayvon and just start shooting, that is a ridiculous assertion to make. Something else happened that led to a physical altercation. Nobody in their right mind physically attacks someone for walking down the street, and then shoots them. Why would Zimmerman attack Trayvon and then shoot him? Why would Zimmerman attack Trayvon at all? It doesn't make sense, there is more information that hasn't been released, and there are way too many biased people in this country who make a big deal out things they know nothing about.

Your theory makes no sense. Trayvon Martin realizes he is being followed, stops, and then Zimmerman struggles with him and shoots him? Although Zimmerman may have made a bad choice by following Trayvon (if he in fact did), I don't think that he was the aggressor. Think about it, Zimmerman catches up to Trayvon (if that is how it really happened), and starts asking him who he is and what he is doing. Now if I was Trayvon I would have explained that I was walking to my Dad's girlfriend's house. So if that is what Trayvon told Zimmerman, you think Zimmerman then freaked out and start attacking and shooting at Trayvon? Do people actually act like that? There is a lot more to this story than you or anyone else knows. I am 100% certain the Police Department has a significant amount more information than they are releasing to the public. I also believe that there is no police coverup, and if they felt Zimmerman had really done something wrong they would have charged him by now. The answers are not always cut and dry, especially when you don't have all the information.

Or maybe – Zimmerman follows Trayvon, confronts him – Martin thinks who is this PERV following me, refuses to answer. Zimmerman pulls his gun, tells him the police are on their way and he's going to hold Martin till they arrive. Martin starts screaming HELP! – won't stop screaming, Zimmerman shoots him in a panic to get him to shut up. That explains why the screaming stopped the instant the shot was fired. This whole case stinks to high heaven.

Zimmerman was a tubby balding older man, and probably couldn't run fast enough to catch his breath. It was only 145 yards down the middle of the complex sidewalk to safety for Martin so he must have slowed down or stopped. Who hit who first is the question.

I can see why people are confused because the media allows people to express really stupid ideas–for breaking news I guess. Most times I turn it off because the PROPOSED EXCUSES for Zimmerman sound so stupid that even someone with a brain disease could do better. sUCH AS – Yes–he cussed but then he made a positive comment about Travon. Really. I want to know did you know the moon was made of green cheese?
First of all, any fool who chases down a person should be prepared to get the nonsense beat out of them. Travon did NOT chase down Zimmerman. Zimmerman took it upon himself to show what a fool he really is. And, please note that if he thinks he is so bad, why didnt he go into a neighborhood where EVERYBODY is carrying guns. Instead, by his own words, he tells the police he is basically trapping, hunting, stalking, etc. a "young" boy. Then he lies and claims "he" was attacked. Well gee, if Travon did, and I dont for a minute believe that lie, so what. There are enough case laws to show that IF you caused the situation – YOU ARE TO BLAME FOR THE OUTCOME. And, what happened to all the blood on Zimmerman from being attacked.
Even a child knows that if you break a nose, you bleed profusely. I guess the policeman bathed him, washed his clothes, healed his head and nose [as though they were God] with no signs of injury in the police station videos, and on and on. Please!!!!!
Every media mogul needs to stop letting people propose the most stupid concepts on TV that make people sound like idiots and expects all of America to blindly follow and believe ignorance.
The bottom line is that if this had been the other way around and Zimmerman had been stalked, chased, molested, and killed, Travon would have been under the jail the same night with a 100 million dollar bond on him.
We are NOT living in the 1920s where any lie will do although the police, prosecutor, etc. seem to be under that racist delusion. From HISTORY – Zimmerman's attorneys, the police, and prosecutor need this extra time to WHITE-WASH the evidence to cover their cover-up of a blatant hate crime–again.
I understand Zimmerman's father being upset. After all, his son acted a fool and chased someone down and took his life, regardless of how the police are trying to protect him. And his heart must be aching for his son.
However, the father needs to stop acting like his son is a victim. His son is a murderer–period. His son chased and stalked and KILLED an innocent teenager-period.

Kathlean, your comment is ridiculous. You sound just like Piers Morgan in that you've already made up your mind that Zimmerman is guilty despite the fact there is no evidence against him at this time. To date, Zimmerman has not been charged with a crime, yet Morgan is actually suggesting that Zimmerman should turn himself in to authorities. I guess they set the standards really low for journalists in the UK.

If the day ever comes that Zimmerman IS charged with a crime, then it is the job of a judge or a jury to determine whether he is guilty or not guilty after hearing ALL of the objective facts and evidence. I'm just glad that angry people like you usually get themselves eliminated in the voir dire (jury selection) process. What I would really like is for you and every other race baiter on these threads to try and explain what facts you think you have that shows Zimmerman should be arrested. If you feel you have the evidence that trained law enforcement officers haven't been able to find so far, then let's see it. I've yet to hear one fact based or intelligent argument made as to why Zimmerman should be arrested, much less be found guilty in a court of law. All I hear is a bunch of angry emotions and irrelevant accusations about race from a bunch of angry fools who've let biased media reports decide for them.

And by the way, I had a broken nose in 1991 during Judo practice. There was not one drop of blood.

I find it amazing that with what evidence there is that there are varied opinions. The two legislators (republican) who wrote the "stand your ground" law, as well as the Governor at the time (Jeb Bush) who signed the law, have concluded that the Sanford Police as well as the Prosecutor need to reread the law because, it was clear to them that Zimmerman was the aggressor and that if anything, Trayvon Martin was the one standing his ground. Further, the dispatcher clearly stated "we don't need you to do that" after he determined that Zimmerman was following Trayvon after he questioned him about his actions. In essence, Zimmerman was the aggressor.

If you go back to the 911 tape, you will also hear that the dispatcher repeatedly tried to get Zimmerman to wait for the police at a specific location (the mailboxes) and Zimmerman said "to call me when you get here and I will tell you where I am". Full indication that he was determined on following Trayvon and intended confrontation.

Now let's review Zimmerman's history on confronting others: his girlfriend (accused of domestic violence); the confrontation whereby he picked up a young lady and threw her across the room and she suffered an injured ankle; and the altercation with the police officer. All of these that we know of were supposed to be expunged. The father of Zimmerman knows that he has a son who is out of control. I am further surprised that he is speaking on a case that may go to trial (he is a former magistrate and he knows he should not be speaking about this matter). Look at the progression of Zimmerman's digressions and this one has ended in shooting and killing a child (17 years old, unarmed and weighing a lot less that Zimmerman).

There is a lot more that I can say that has been substantiated, but that would take too much. Just be open minded. The father knows that Zimmer is a bad seed and is trying to save him. Each argument he and his son and the so-called friend have provided can be blown out of the water.

The Police also yellow tape the crime scene & ask questions to neighbors for 7hrs until 3a.m. I take it Zimmerman's testimony & witnesses matched...There was no need to keep Zimmerman arrested, its not like they can't arrest him later on if they find enough evidence to warrant an arrest.

Mr Martin will have rights to stand his ground, as his action may prevent Zimmerman from murdering another child. Anyone who things Zimmerman's actions are justified clearly need their head tested. I have a son close to Trayvon age and feel deeply for his parents. I am not a violent person, but hurting my child in this manner I would have stood my ground in the most violent way. What if Mr. Martin did the hunting when the facts come out? Mr. Zimmerman acknowledges he followed him, but then the story becomes a little more cloudy. In order to protect his neighborhood, I think Mr. Zimmerman has the right to follow, but absolutely not to initiate force. My OPINION is that he was probably an overzealous neighborhood watch individual for following this stranger in his neighborhood. The fact that this young man is dead is horrific. But I don't know if that's due to his initiation or Mr. Zimmerman's. I'm not sure how anyone can pick a side without being there. To me, if they do, they are likely doing so based on race or ethnicity, which is wrong. No matter which side you're choosing.

Larry, it does not matter if Trayvon tried to defend himself. In addition, I do not believe he jump Zimmerman as this is inconsistent with the other emegency calls made by other people that heard the shooting. The facts are, Trayvon was hunted. The hunter had a weapon and Trayvon did not. Trayvon went out to get food. It is legal to go out and get food in any State. There was no martial law in place to justify such killing. If the animal Zimmerman have the right to stand his ground so is Trayvon father or love ones. My opinion remain the same, Trayvon family need to address this matter and stand there ground if the law cannot. Zimmerman needs to be inprisoned for life or put down. Pierce Morgon is doing a fantastic job. Any real man know that you have a duty to protect your child and sometime other people's.

Chris, while I do appreciate your opinion, you have automatically jumped to the conclusion that Mr. Martin was defending himself. And your argument proceeds from there. If that's the basis, then I can see how you have the opinion you do. But I'm not conceding anything to anyone here, I'm trying to remain unbiased. So you are saying, without evidence in either direction, that Mr. Zimmerman's claim the that after losing sight of Mr. Martin, then Mr. Martin sought him out at his vehicle and started the altercation is a lie? I'm just saying I don't know if it is or isn't. I'm a little stunned that so many people have a conclusion of the facts without actually knowing them. I don't, I can admit that, I don't have all the facts. Therefore, I'm willing to wait to make my personal judgement after the facts have been released. One possible extreme to the Martin side: Mr. Zimmerman followed Mr. Martin, didn't stop as he said he did, finally caught Mr. Martin and intiated the altercation, then in cold blood shot this young man. One possible extreme to the Zimmerman side: Mr. Zimmerman stopped following when the dispatcher said to, went to his vehicle, then Mr. Martin, likely not knowing Mr. Zimmerman was carrying a weapon, initiated the altercation and in fear of his life during the altercation Mr Zimmerman defended himself.
Two possible scenarios which either could be true, but the actual facts will have to support. Not selected media releases by the families or those on an agenda.

Zimmerman has one eye witness with him on the bottom of Trayvon; that eye witness also has Zummerman as the one yelling for help. But the voice experts don't believe that Zimmerman was yelling. Another eye witness has Zimmerman on top. Trayvon's girlfriend is sure that Zimmerman attacked Trayvon first. Another witness saw a tussle that she did not think justified anyone killing anyone. We certainly have Zimmerman undermining his own credibility, not telling the police initially that Trayvon had threatened his life but then adding that to his report the next day.

As someone says above, this is not for the police to sort out. This is a matter for the jury.

The police has no legal or moral authority to stand in the way of a proper trial.

Arrest Zimmerman and let his attorneys do their work. They seem to be standing on that one eye witness. Let's see if they can make him a credible witness. I have serious doubts!

Zimmerman looks insane to me for getting out of his truck and pursuing a boy with a bag of ice tea. It seems to me that this ex-bouncer was itching for a confrontation in which we would finally have an excuse to use a gun.

I noted your comments from the begining of this blog, it is clear that your support is closer to the Zimmerman camp. Perhaps you are Zimmerman lawyer trying to mitigating the facts on Zimmerman side for the public opinion. Perhaps you do not have a son. I am not a lawyer, I am not a relative or friend of either parties. But I am a father.

It is very easy to lie on a murdered child.

The facts that have already been establish shows Trayvon was hunted and killed. You can try to be as fanciful as you wish. But the facts already establish are, Trayvon was on a public road conducting his lawful and private business when the animal Zimmerman decided to start stalking, tracking and hunting him down. To my knowledge stalking another person is a criminal offence. If Zimmerman did not commit a criminal offence from the outset Trayvon will still be alive.

It is already established that Trayvon knew he was being stalked, so any action taken by him (accepting the jumping on Zimmerman allegation) is clearly justified. Remember, "stand your ground rule". I do not believe or accept that Zimmerman was attacted.

Even the most notorious killer knows to back off if someone pull a weapon on you.

Larry, are you suggesting that Zimmerman pulled his weapon, warning that child to backoff and Trayvon still attacted him?

The stand your ground rule must work both way. As I mentioned previously, Trayvon love ones must stand their ground. Somebody must make the sacrifice and stand their ground for Trayvon where Zimmerman goes free. I also trust Trayvon father will not leave it up to the mother to do, as he was the reason Trayvon was in that nasty place. Where black people lives appears to have no value.

Chris Sealy, you do not have the authority, nor do you have enough knowledge of this incident to make the determination that George Zimmerman committed the crime of stalking and murder when he followed and later shot Trayvon Martin. You are not one of the police detectives who investigated this matter, nor are you the state attorney. These are all people who have far more knowledge about this event than we do and thus far, they have found no evidence to arrest or prosecute Zimmerman.

Your calling on Martin's father to take matters into his own hands is showing that you're just as bad as you're accusing Zimmerman of being. As I said earlier to Kathlean, I would really like to hear what evidence you think you have that proves Zimmerman is guilty of murder. And I mean actual evidence, not supposition and popular opinion. Better yet, if you have this proof, why not present it to the proper authorities as they seem to be lacking in enough evidence to charge Zimmerman.

You heard it hear Tracy Martin. Chris Sealey has declared that you must make the sacrifice for your son. It doesn't matter what the law decides. Chris Sealey believes in gangland justice. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Regardless of the law. Thank God that mentality has not permeated into society as a whole.

Piers you are smart and courageous. I've been living overseas for many years and I did learn that the minute you express a controversial opinion about a country -because you have lived, traveled and seen other realities therefore you tend to think different about things – everybody sends you back to your country. Let me tell you Piers that the best decision CNN has taken was to replace old crumply Larry King with a guy who has your guts to freely express intelligent opinions -whether popular or unpopular, British or American based. Congratulations and keep up with your great job.

And to all those who carry fire arms, you shouldn't and this is a great country but very ridiculous in some respects. One being that with 18 you can carry a gun and not drink a beer at a bar!!!! Where is the logic????

Yes...absolutely right "Main-line News Organizations" have libeled George Zimmerman, not only by publishing knowingly unverified statements about Zimmerman's physical condition, and his statements to 911, but actually altering transcripts to make it appear he was racist in his remarks.

The question is what are the "main-line" news organizations conspiring to do? Beside slandering and libeling George Zimmerman, they are attempting to create a Race-Riot! Heat it up for a story?

Evidence Reported: No injuries,"allegations that he was attacked appears untrue"

True Evidence: Visible injuries to head from observable video released, and they chose to ignore the obvious facts that would have supported Zimmerman's story.

Evidence Reported: He reported and volunteered party he was following as a "Black man"

True Evidence: He was asked by 911 for a color/nationality description. "was he white, black, Hispanic"

NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT REPORT THAT HE WAS ASKED ....NBC "ALTERED" the transcript and took the question out to make Zimmerman appear black-phobic.

People, Zimmerman is 1/2 minority Latino, 1/2 white and this is a race issue?

    Who else is 1/2 minority, 1/2 white....Our beloved Presidente...Obama.

Why didnt the hammer beating of a 50 year old white man by two Black youths get national attention as a HATE CRIME.

Why isn't it reported that the vast majority of Black youths (and adults) killed in homicides are done by other Blacks youths.

Why doesnt the "Main-stream Media" report that Black youths "fear" other Black youth, not White boys.

Because "Main-Stream Media" as well as Obama, want to divide this country up into little hate groups against Mr. White Male mainstream so their Socialist/Marxist Presidente...Comrade Obama will get elected again. He will only win if he Divides this nation into Hate groups against White Male. He will keep the Black community in poverty, by failing to address jobs, economy and self-esteem of the Black community. Failure to create Private Sector (real jobs) is the primary cause for unemployment among Blacks and the primary cause for break-down of Black family (males with no self-esteem). He is you enabler, not your Messiah. Dependency = Economic and Emotional Slavery. Wake up! Listen to Bill Cosby, Herman Cain, Congressman Allen West and every other successful Black man. They will tell you the truth. Obama's philosophy and politics will enslave you forever.

Many things you said in your interview with Zimmerman's brother were already determined to be in correct, such as the perceived racial slur. Now Zimmerman is believed to have murmured "F.....g punk." The slur that he was being accused of, is an outdated term used by people in their 60+ years. It has not been used in this country much since the 1960s by people already in their 20s or older. This guy is only 28. But the interesting part of your interview is that you appear to be cross examining this man. You clearly have an agenda and it is not honest journalism.

What the hell are you talking about. Everyone seems confused for some reason. This is not a black or white or even race issue really. It just so happens it was done by a person of the opposite race. I'm kind of mad that Al Sharpton got involved bc then it seems like a race issue. True enough in the tape Zimmerman is pre judging and has some issues he needs to internally take care of, but the thing is he was unjust in his actions towards another man in our society. By creating his own paranoia and following another man. In this case ending up deadly. Looking further Zimmerman shouldn't be in heat no more the the police bc they didn't do a thorough investigation. As a owner of a CCW I also know the laws and took a extra class in Springfield, Ohio for a Florida permit. I will admit one thing they tell you in the class is that if you use force use deadly force therefore you will only have one story to tell thus claiming self defense will most likely hold up. But then again that's if you are in fear for your life. And in this case he couldn't have been in too much fear if he was still following Martin. Bc natural instinctive would tell you to get away "not" pursue your fear. Like I said this is not a Race issue its a moral issue. And to keep order in our neighborhood we need to know that people can't Jus go around following and shooting people bc they have a Pre Judgements in thief head of how someone is or what they can do before they actually do it.

If George Zinniman was not so gun happy he would not be a killer today?
If George Zinniman was African or a Muslim he would have been arrested and labeled as a terriost?
If George Zinniman father was not a judge would he be have been arrested by now ?
If George Zinniman flies to Israil he will be procted like the Maryland killer Samual Sheinbbein.
There was no justice for the brutal murder of Alfredo Tello Jr who father Sol Sheinbbein was a lawyer.
US goverment has no extradited with Israil. Samual Sheinbbein is with his family. Alfredo Tello family is still waiting for justice since September of 1997 for the brutal murder. Will there be justice for Trayvon Martin?

We all know Zimmerman is not and will never be charged with anything. Have the African American's been sleeping? They are the most abused culture in the US. Hated by racist white.. Many of them have chimed in with the bullcrapt rhetoric of the 60's regarding don't rush to judgement and wait for the investigation blah blah blah.... ENOUGH!!!!! I have read just about everyone's comments, and it seems to me that alot of you are either misinformed, can't read, are ignorant and or just plain moronic. Look, Zimmerman is not a fat old man, he is a healthy 28 year old who was training to be a cop. A very fit young man with a Hero Complex. He did in fact pursue Treyvon, he did in fact shoot him in cold blood, he did in fact disregard the police request that he stay home and not follow Treyvon. This is not about gun control or race. This is about a man with a history of wanting to play cop and be a hero, a man who murdered a young man that had every rigth to be walking down the street. I see no problem here....Zimmerman is a killer and should be prosecuted as such. So those of you who *claim to be objective* spare me. Trust me when i say "Zimmerman, you can lie to yourself and the rest of the world all you want, God knows what you did and you WILL have to answer to him. I call you a cold blooded killer, turn yourself in."

I have read your comment and you do not know what happened. According to the accounts given, Zimmerman did not pursue Martin. He lost sight of him and was going back to his car. That is the only account given. Martin was the only other person there and so there is only one account of what happened up till that point. There is no eye witness until one man is on top of the other. That eye witness at that point said he saw two guys and one was on top of the other. He said he say a guy in a red shirt on the bottom on the ground and another on top. Zimmerman was wearing a red shirt. That is a fact from the witness. He was interviewed by one of the news agencies. This is a first person account of what happened at that point in time. He did not see the beginning of the conflict.

No, he was not heading back to his car. Trayvon was killed too far away from the car. He was not jumped from the back because the girlfriend's cell phone call has them talking to each other before the altercation. Zimmerman did not identify himself. He lied to Trayvon, denying that he was following him. At the very least, he should be arrested for stalking. He had no reasonable grounds for pursuing Trayvon.

Perhaps Zimmerman will be found innocent in court, but there is more than enough evidence-plus problems in his own testimony–to warrant charges being made.

He has lawyers. Zimmerman also has you to defend him. But it is indefensible that the case has not been handed over to our jury system.

    Here's another possibility.
The special prosecutor will bring charges not against Zimmerman but the Sanford Police Dept.

    For two reasons:

    1. To project Trayvon the 911 operator should have been much firmer in telling Zimmerman not to pursue and stalk Trayvon. Any police dept should be able to foresee that a violent incident could ensure from such behavior by an untrained neighborhood watchman.

    2. The police dept will also be sued for not collecting evidence properly at the murder site. They should have tested for blood on the concrete, made sure Zimmerman was not high, interviewed the witnesses more thoroughly and promptly.

Maybe charges are brought against Zimmerman, but I am pretty sure that the Sanford police dept is in a lot of legal trouble.

Perhaps you are not following the case. It has already been taken out of the hands of the Sanford police department, and the Justice Dept has begun an investigation into the Dept. There are obviously serious problems in how it handled the case. But we'll see.
Having heard the 911 tape, I am surprised that the officer on the phone was not more firm that Zimmerman stop his
        stalking of Trayvon.
I would also like to know whether people in the community watch are ever educated by policeman about how to conduct
It could be that they are, and ZImmerman forgot what he was told.
I am looking forward to seeing whether Zimmerman never became a cop due to failing exams. I suspect that he failed
both the emotional and intellectual tests that people are given to see whether they can become cops.
        But we'll see.

It is time that we look at the Trayvon Martin killing for what it is - a criminal homicide, only incidental to race. One cannot draw a much different conclusion by listening to the cries for help heard in the recorded 911 calls.
Even without them, however, it seems improbable that a confident, stocky-build man, with a gun in his holster, would need to beg for help - notwithstanding the claims of Zimmerman, his father and his brother. Our understanding of human nature and common sense tells us that such cries would come from someone who is severely threatened and acutely aware of his imminent death.
Any doubts of this are removed by merely listening to those multiple “help, help” pleas loud enough to be picked up during the 911calls. Aside from their heart-wrenching intensity, we also note that these cries go on for over a minute. Was Zimmerman telling Martin during that time that he was about to pull the trigger? Why else would Martin need to plead for help with such desperation?
If Zimmerman was threatening to shoot Martin in those two minutes before we hear the shot, what we have then is a cold blooded murder – and by one clever enough to now use our racial divide to get away with it. We should see through this tactic and not let him do so. Not only because such defense would further divide us, but also because an unrepentant criminal would get away with murder.

Yes, I am surprised that anyone believes Zimmerman.
He was in hot pursuit of someone he called a punk, the kind of punk that he thinks always get away.
He obviously was not going to let this guy get away.
He jumped him, thought he could he take him to the ground and make a citizen's arrest.
Trayvon was getting away, maybe getting out from beneath him.
    Zimmerman was humiliated and angry.
Perhaps he was paranoid that if Trayvon got out from underneath him, he would get his gun.
So Zimmerman shot him after having stalked, confronted and threatened him in his pathetic attempt to make sure this one did not get away.
The mortician has already said that Trayvon had no marks on his hands of having delivered a serious blow.
The voice experts say that it was not Zimmerman screaming for help.
Zimmerman already lied by not saying initially to police that Trayvon had threatened him, and then conveniently adding that to his report the next day.
Zimmerman needs to be arrested, and a jury has to be allowed to make sense of his defense.

It boggles MY mind that you attribute the comments of a couple of lawyers to Zimmerman. Zimmerman has not spoken about what happened that night since he was questioned for several hours by police. He did so without a lawyer present, voluntarily. He has NOT changed his story. And it was recorded. I rely on the 911 calls, the call to the police dispatcher that Zimmerman made, recorded eye witness statements, the police report, the comments made by the funeral home director who prepared Martin's body, etc. It all points to justifiable use of deadly force. What boggles MY mind is how you and others continue to support refuted conclusions.

It seems to me that the police did everything it could to protect a guy thought was forced into killing a boy who must have been a hoodlum. The police were immediately convinced by Zimmerman that he must have been following a criminal and that any force Zimmerman used had to be justified.
Then the lead investigator comes to the scene and talks to Zimmerman and says things are not adding up.
But then his higher ups shut the lead investigator up.

"Stand Your Ground" vs self defence, what's the diffent? 1. As I understand "Stand Your Ground" the victim is not required to retreat. The victim gets to make their own choice of what is in their best interest. 2. Also, the police can't arrest without probable cause. It does not change the right to self defence. What is the alternative according to Piers Morgan? Is self defence agaist the law in England? In England, if the attacker is killed because of something the victim did during the attack wouldn't that be justifable homicide?

A justified homicide is when your are threatened. Answer this question.. Can you threaten someone walking away from them and not saying anything to them? I wonder if any of the people supporting Zimmerman answer this with a valid point.

I'll let the special prosecutor answer that question. "Stand Your Ground" law does not mean a person is immune to prosecution. If the immediate investigation does not show an obvious crime more evidense is needed. If more evidence shows a crime was commited an arrest will be made. Arresting before enough evidence is obtainted would be a poor decision on the part of the State Attorney. It takes time to get it right. "Stand Your Ground" in my opinion is just a new name legislators gave to the old self defence law. The new parts are the victim is not required to retreat and the police need to show probable cause to arrest. Self defence still is legal as long as it is self defence. I'll wait to see what happens.

The problem for blacks in America today.
One out of every three young black males will face illegal searches by police and are arrested for possession charges. The result is a criminal history and a deep seeded anger and hatetred towards police and whites. (Justifiably so)
    The solution
End the war on drugs. The war on drugs has failed and has resulted in an explosion of U.S. citizens being incarcerated and has created a criminal and violent environment especially for black youths.
Why Obama is not the answer but is part of the problem.

Piers, Piers, Piers – by your own admission, In Britain, Britain, that. This is NOT Britain!!! The investigation did NOT conclude the night of the shooting with Zimmerman's release on his own recognizance. Investigators continued to pursue leads with 911 callers, the physical evidence, Zimmerman's statements, etc. The fact that his arrest didn't happen because he happened to kill someone with a legally carried firearm is a TRIBUTE to the US justice system and that of the State of Florida. Ya see, Piers, in the USA, we do not operate under the idiocy of mere supposition or assumption like maybe they do back home in Britain. We operate under the presumption of guilt until proven guilty, and the concept of proximate cause. You already blew your own credibility out of the water when you suggested it was agaisnt the law for Zimmerman to be carrying a weapon while performing the duties as a neighborhood watch volunteer. You are just 100% plain wrong!!! Had it been, Zimmerman would have been arrested and charged with that crime. But as the lawyer pointed out, it is utterly ludicrous of you to even suggest that while he was clearly within the law to carry the firearm en route to the grocery store, somehow he was outside the law in doing so when he acted in the role of responsible citizen. Let us all know when Larry King is scheduled to return, because as far as i am concerned, while you might be a fair journalist (and I don't know that), you are merely keeping Larry's seat warm until he coems back from an extended vacation. CNN and its media personalities take a left leaning liberal position when it comes to investigative reporting. I don't think they do it on purpose, I think it just represents the political slant of the people that work there and their audience, in the same way that Fox news takes a center right approach. Unfortunately it causes them to grasp at straws when their story begins to fall apart. The Trayvon Martin case, while his death was tragic, has ignited the extreme left-wing race baiters and gun haters. The story was presented from a skewed perspective from the beginning. Photos of Trayvon as an 11 year old child were widely distributed to promote the idea of a docile and innocent juvenile walking home with a bag of skittles and an ice-tee. Focus on the skittles helps keep us in that state of mind. It certainly doesn't seem as menacing as a 6 foot 3 inch hooded man never before seen in the area where break-ins have occurred. I guess the skittles disqualify him from someone scoping out the neighborhood. The fact is we don't really know if those skittles and tee were the only thing on his mind at the time. I guess the fact is that it couldn't be possible for someone to be scoping out a break-in and being hungry at the same time. We haven't had a toxicology report back so we don't know if Trayvon had been smoking weed and got the munchies either. The point is pot smoking and steeling might be as valid as a photo of an 11 year old. Trayvon had been suspended for marijuana and he had been found to have women's jewelry and a broad head screw driver in a book bag which he blamed on a friend of which he wouldn't name. To be fair it would be stupid to bring these things up just as it is stupid to keep showing outdated photos of Trayvon and bringing up skittles up every time the Trayvon is mentioned. Lets wait and see what facts are before we rush to judgment.

Piers Morgan is a self seeking, arrogant lout, who is well known where i come from, the UK, for his scurrilous reporting in the Mail On Sunday etc, The only fact, as he kept on quoting facts, is that he was trying to sign seal and .deliver the case, against George Zimmerman, regardless of the back tracking he did when the attornies confronted him! In fact he should really have shut up, as what happens in the UK justice system is nothing to crow about anyway! You may well find his brand of journalism to be different and innovative. I personally find it irritating, annoying, and that he talks down to most of his interviewees, as if he's some sort of schoolteacher, who finds that you have been late for class!

Like most leftists, Morgan probably got beat up a lot as a kid. I'm guessing he's just as protective of the muslims who are destroying British culture from within.

Give justice a chance.

Here's a fact for ya.... a mexican shot and killed a young black man who was doing nothing wrong. If Trayvon had been white, the whole world would be up in arms and Zimmerman would have been thrown under the jail immediately.

Trayvon wasn't proven guilty .... but Zimmerman murdered him anyway. That is how much justice Zimmerman deserves.

George Zimmerman was attacked by Trayvon Martin as he was heading back to his vehicle. George had a legal right to carry a concealed weapon. Florida law says if someone attacks you–you have every right to defend yourself. A pity that Trayvon was not taught that you cannot assault/batter people. Trayvon's actions got himself killed. All you hate filled, racist, violence mongers need to shut your mouths and let our criminal justice system look at the facts and the LAW.

You need to mind your own advice. You were not there on the night of the incident to make such declarative statements as to what Trayvon Martin did. It is people like you who make decisions about the case in a way that suites your own personal agenda. Everyone else here has the same liberty to say Zimmerman is as guilty as a pot is black. So ley's just agree to disagree as the judicial balances lean where they most certainly Will.

Piers, I am African American, and I felt that your interview with Zimmerman's brother was splendidly and strategically executed. Please don't try to change your style to accommodate what a fake hip hop MTV reporter thinks about your journalistic style. The fact is that good journalism is now unfortunately a rarity in this country.

    zimmerman for president!

ok, just kidding. but enough about this trayvon kid already. he attacked zimmerman when he was walking to his car because trayvon was a punk and would probably be in prison in a few years anyway. and stop showing pictures of him when he was like 12.

the national media is ridiculous. where are the national headlines for that white guy who was beaten and stripped naked by a bunch of black people in baltimore? oh, cnn had a video of it up for about 5 minutes but no headlines, no mention of a racial attack and hate crime. pretty pathetic journalism going around.

All u fake Zimmerman supporters need to get on that website and kick some money out. It cost money to hate least effectively anyway. Lol .As for the white guy who was beaten and robbed by Blacks in my home town.....I believe an injustice was done to him as well. As a blackman I can say it's never been a black and white issue when it comes to freedom and justice..... It's all ways been a human issue.

Zimmerman is innocent. He was doing what he did for the greater good of his community. Trayvon attacked this man from behind, assulting him–slamming his head in the pavement. Zimmerman had a gun on his person and used it in self defense.
I am sure he did not want to kill the boy. It's sad it happened but the media nor the public has NO RIGHT to convict this man. SHAME ON YOU ALL.

People need to ask themselves–IF you had a gun on you and you were attacked, wouldn't you have used it too?

The only ones making this into a racial issue is Trayvon's Parents. The are seeing Dollar $ign$ from their kid's murder.

shame on you, for judging Trayvon's parents and his supporters. The trial hasn't happened, maybe never will. No one but Trayvon and Zimmerman know the truth and Trayvon's dead and Zimmerman's obviously lying. The truth will probably never come out, but I hope Zimmerman goes to jail.

so funny that these guys BAILED on Zimmerman when he sets up a web site and asks people to give money to him and not to people "who represent him". Zimmerman doesn't deserve a dime. Public defenders can represent him

I am so sick of this BS, when will the media show actual pictures of Trayvon?????? Oh I guess that would show his true appearance at the time NOT the 10 or 12 year old that all media groups keep posting. I guess maybe it's the parents that are giving these photos to media outlets. Where else would they be getting these??? Why not give a recent photo of Trayvon????

A decision on the Trayvon Martin is coming soon. He did nothing wrong that night. He was on his way home minding his business when he was confronted and harassed by an unidentified man wearing no identifyable clothing. It was Zimmerman who was told to leave it alone by his dispatcher. He did this on his own accord defying orders. It's probably when Trayvon Martin punched him in the nose. Things escalated from there and Zimmerman shot him thinking he was covered by the "stand your ground law". He used his own gun on public duty which is probably illegal. It's imperative that this case dealt with expeditiously and fairly before things get out of hand!

As predicted, the animal Zimmerman is lockup. Well down. I look forward to the conviction and sentence of a minimum of 30 years before elligebility for parol. Get that fool off the street for a very long time. Zimmerman criminal behaviour promote civil disorder and revolution. What was he smoking to think he can kill another person's child. I trust somebody will take care of him inside, this will save the state a lot of money and court time. I wish the Martin's all the best in keeping their feets firmly press on top of the monster Zimmerman's head. Stamp on it! Stamp on it!

Zimmerman is innocent! The media is the whole reason for his arrest!I am a frequent CNN viewer, and is dissapointed in CNN for the onslought they have been doing to zimmerman,You bring Trayvons family on and is nothing but nice to them and never once questioned them or pressed them like they do zimmerman's family!Zimmerman was not a racist to anyone,The media has already decided he is guilty and that is really unfortunite,No one really knows what happened that night except for the 2 that were involved,1 is no longer with us,and because Trayvon is black and zimmerman is white you all seem to think he is automatically a racist!People need to grow up and realize most of us are not racist!I am from a black family and have been watching this unfold for weeks! And see nothing but zimmerman drug through the dirt!

There is not a living person who knows what happened between when George Zimmerman finished his phone call with the police dispatcher and when the first punch was thrown between Zimmerman and Martin.

We know Zimmerman was armed with a 9mm handgun. We know that he was in his vehicle when he first observed Trayvon Martin and when Trayvon Martin began running. We know he exited his vehicle to follow Martin. We know that at some point shortly after he began, the dispatcher discovered he was following Martin and suggested to Zimmerman that he not. The audio of the phone call suggests that Zimmerman acknowledged the dispatcher and that he (Zimmerman) did indeed stop. Toward the end of the phone call, the dispatcher and Zimmerman discuss where and how Zimmerman will meet the police, and at one point Zimmerman even says he doesn't know where Martin is. Claims that he disobeyed the dispatcher are not supported by the audio of the phone conversation.

We know there are no eyewitnesses to the initial encounter between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin

We know that only one 911 call received the night of the shooting was made during the physical altercation and before the shot was fired. During that call, for 45 seconds, someone is heard screaming in the background.

We know that one eyewitness to their actual physical altercation told reporters and the police that he saw Trayvon Martin on top of George Zimmerman, beating him, while Zimmerman cried for help.

We know that following the shooting, Officer Timothy Smith observed that Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head, and the back of his clothing was wet and covered with grass as if he had been lying on his back.

We know that Zimmerman was administered first aid at the scene before he was transported to the police station.

We do not know who closed the distance between the two individuals. Martin's girlfriend and George Zimmerman agree that Martin initiated the conversation between the two. The girlfriend says Martin asked Zimmerman if he (Zimmerman) was following him, and that Zimmerman asked him what he was doing. Zimmerman's account is that Martin was more confrontational and struck him (Zimmerman) in the process.

Key to this case will be who initiated physical contact between the two individuals. Once that is established in the jurors' minds, one of the following options will then be pursued.

The ONLY reason I see for Zimmerman being charged is to let a judge or jury decide from the evidence who initiated physical contact and how things developed from there.

I do not believe that George Zimmerman will be convicted of second degree murder. I think the prosecutor hopes George Zimmerman will plea bargain. If he does not (I do not think he will cop a plea), the prosecutor has a HUGE uphill battle to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the death resulted from a criminal act and “demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life”. Corey has charged Zimmerman with a more severe crime than manslaughter, and if this goes to trial, she may request the judge to instruct the jury on charges of manslaughter to give the jury an option to find Zimmerman guilty of a lesser charge and to give then an option other than acquittal. Clever.

Mobile technology will decide the case. The animal Zimmerman mobile phone is most likely to have recorded his location when he made the call to police. That phone call is what will convict him, along with the commentry give to Trayvon girlfriend by Trayvon. That phone call place her in the middle of getting to the truth and the reason Zimmerman is charge. Anyone thinking Zimmerman will get away with murder is dreaming.

Wayne – perhaps mobile technology will show that Trayvon Martin doubled back. Then what would you conclude? Perhaps the location of the call when it was placed has absolutely NOTHING to do with the location of the shooting. The commentary "given to Trayvon's girlfriend by Trayvon" is what Trayvon's girlfriend says. The recording of the phone call between Zimmerman and the dispatcher shows that 2 full minutes elapsed between the time when Trayvon began running and the end of the phone call. Trayvon Martin could have traveled the distance from where he began running to his father's fiancee's apartment in two minutes and 15 seconds at a verrrrrry slow walk. So, explain why he was shot a mere 250 feet from where he began running. A slooooowww walk is about 4 feet per second. So, in two minutes he had only covered the distance a very slooooowww walker could cover in less than a minute and a half? And he was running? Hmmmm.....seems like he was either hiding or he doubled back, but he was NOT attempting to get home. If he was, he would have been sitting on the couch eating Skittles and drinking Iced tea, instead of fighting with a man only 1/3 of the way home. Doesn't make sense that he was hunted down.
