With the passing of singer Donna Summer on Thursday, "Piers Morgan Tonight" invited Aretha Franklin to share her thoughts and memories. Referring to the artist known as the "Queen of Disco," the "Queen of Soul" reflected on fellow music royalty:
"I thought she was a very gracious and a very nice person. Always beautifully gowned and well spoken," remembered Franklin in an exclusive interview. "We won't forget all those many hits she put out there."
Meanwhile, Thursday also revealed that a G.O.P. "Super PAC" is preparing for the release of an ad campaign more controversial and provocative than anything seen to this point. Designed to attack the president by resurrecting his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., the plan is timed to coincide with September's Democratic Convention.
Joining Piers Morgan with insight and reaction to the Republican Party's latest strategy, Deval Patrick says it's an indication of something larger than simply the election:
"What's happening right now is not just a contest of politics," said the Governor of Massachusetts. "It's the notion that the American dream itself is up for grabs. And it's going to take all of us working together and coming together to save it."
Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as Thursday's guests remember Donna Summer, and look ahead to an election in the Fall.
