Gregg Allman on his 24-year-old fiancé: "This time, I am really in love"

Coming up this evening at 9 p.m., "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes one of the most-revered and successful blues musicians of all-time, as Gregg Allman sits down for a candid and honest primetime exclusive.

Married and divorced six times, tonight the 64-year-old grandfather reveals plans to tie the knot once again, as he's joined in the studio by his 24-year-old fiancé. Just don't mistakenly refer to her as wife number seven:

"That's not what she's becoming. She's becoming wife number one," Allman tells Piers Morgan. "I don't have a wife. Haven't had one for years."

With Shannon looking on, "The Allman Brothers Band" founding member explains why he's chosen to wed again, with a woman 40 years his junior:

"This time, I am really in love."

Watch the clip, then tune in this evening at 9 p.m. as Allman opens up about rampant drug and alcohol use during his younger years and explains what former wife Cher smelled like.

What is the name of Greg Allman's new fiance and when is her birthday?

I saw Greg on The Tonight Show and he is really messed up. Drugs and alcohol have definitely taken a toll . Normally I'd say he's too old to be marrying a 24 year old because of the generation gap but in his case – since he's about as dumb as dirt – they are mentally the same age 😉

How pitiful do you have to be to marry this old druggie? She must not be able to support herself if she has to sink to that level. No one is going to tell me that he is totally clean.

Nona, whether or not you believe that he is totally clean is totally irrelevant.

When someone his age wants to date and marry a 24-year old with his four addictions, all it tells me he has not addressed any of the underlying psychological problems he has. It is in the comments from people I read substantial things. In the reviews one only reads things like riveting reading. I personally thought his book was filled with rambling memories and vulgar/course speech and lots of derogatory statements about living and dead people. But the buck talks. She loves it.

I've been listening to the Allman brothers for 40 plus years. That's about the time I received the album Eat a Peach as a 16 year old. I have seen them in concert a half dozen times. I have nothing but respect for Greg and the band. My only concern is that I saw him being interviewed the other night and must admit that it is apparent that his decades of alcohol and drug dependency have robbed him of his judgement and intellect. He sort of had that "shakes the clown" air about him. As for the age difference between he and his fiance, I have to admit that I was in a relationship with someone 27 years older than me. I spent the first 5 years with him trying to convince his friends and family that I wasnt a gold bricker and that my love was genuine. I spent 28 years with him and in the end hand fed him and changed his diapers thru the alzheimers. He was the absolute love of my life. So anyone that wants to question this young lady's motives will need to live in her shoes before you judge her.

well, i just finished the Howard Stern interview with is a slow one, but i think Howard paid Gregg respect and was very patient with Gregg. I think Gregg is just a slow-talker, a man of few words...always felt that way....its the go-to interview i think.....Piers obviously had never heard or listened to ABB......else, he would have handled the interview differently
if anyone is interested, there is an audio youtube of gregg and howard's interview.....about as much as we'll get about Gregg; need to read the book i think

Poke around? You're kidding, right? This is at least national news. All in the open. Just as he like it. Telling a secret to a known showbiz and tabloid journalist (formerly of News of the World, a Ruport Murdoch tabloid) is wanting him to talk about it on CNN and as such national tv. Your comment is typical of the mentality of nowadays ABB. Anyone with his/her own mind and opinions not idolizing anyone of the ABB is a sort of enemy and is met with hositily.

Gregory is a self taught musician and soulful song writer. He is SOUTHERN!!! Not stupid!!!! Don't you yankees get it? This is what smooth looks for Piers, he will not relate to guests like Gregory A. now or ever!
Not that I do not like Piers, but he just isn't cool. Too few interviewers are, think about it. Good luck to Gregory and his new bride!

I agree Jon. All Piers could talk about was Greg's wives and how young his new fiancee is. What about the music and the legend and the impact the Allman brothers had on America. Has Piers ever even listened to their music. Probably not! What about your wives Piers? How many have you had? How old were they? What did you choose to use a stage name instead of your birth name? To watch you gush over that jerk Trump prior to Greg made it even worse. I won't be watching ever again. Snob!

I can't agree more. Let's have interview where you invade someone's privacy and talk about nothing of substance. You could not have done a worse job. had a true rock legend and didn't even ask him anything about death and marriage. The producers also play Rambin Man which is a Dicky Betts song (whom Gregg had a falling out with about 10 years ago). Perhaps asking about that would have made the interview decent. One thing...I will NEVER watch your show again!

You are absolutely correct. Morgan was totally unprepared, except for his sleazy exploitativeness (around Gregg's obvious cognitive impairment related to his physical health issues).. A compassionate & invested interviewer could have guided the interview into something meaningful. An amazing musician on a world stage and Morgan's narcissism blew it!

exactly! i think what people are missing here is that Piers focused on Allman's young bride and Allman's age. Piers totally had no idea of the Allman Brothers and obviously didnt bother to do any research either. He had little regard for his guest, which was QUITE evident.

Stop focusing on the age difference, as Piers should have, and badger CNN/Piers Morgan for a lousy interview; some of us know what Gregg Allman is as a person, his ways of living and abuse of life, but he did offer and give us much to enjoy. The Allman Brothers Band is/was fantastic. Ever been to one of their concerts? Noone left their seats to get anything....they stayed there and rocked out.....Something we noticed everytime we went to a concert. Just wish someone withint the Piers Morgan staff had liked them......and doesnt CNN broadcast out of "Hot 'Lanta".......????

thanks for writing exactly what I was thinking. None of the stupid questions he asked were relevant to a stellar blues musicion and his enormous body of work. Obviously Morgan didn't do his homework and was unfamiliar with the legend sitting across the table. what about R&R Hall of Fame and Grammy award? I could see the irritation in Gregg's eyes. I watched the program just to listen to Gregg but won't waste time tuning in to Mr. Morgan again.

Greg may never win any awards for being the ideal person to interview but if the questions were more about his music and less about his weddings I think he would have opened up a lot more.

Always loved the ABs since 1971, was saddened by their losses and lifted by their collective spirit to carry on and continue to produce splendid music. Piers Morgan acted like an interviewer for Seventeen magazine. All he was looking for was cheap dirt at the expense of an informative and respectful interview. In addition to not devoting any time to Greg's music, he also failed to discuss Hep-c and liver problems, both of which tie together medically, and are two issues that are very important not only to Greg but also to the general public.PM is a clown unworthy to interview Greg Allman. I want a do-over by someone with a brain!

Sorry, but I have to stand up for Pierce here. I LOVE the Allman Brothers' music more than just about any other music from that time, but it's tough to do an interview with somebody who can't formulate an answer. Pierce had an almost impossible there. I wonder if you folks who are so ready to criticize would have survived that fifteen minutes.

Well said and exactly how I felt. Piers was extremely disrespectful to someone who has contributed much in his life. Howard Stern – shockingly – handled his interview with Gregory reverence and respect.

LOL. I just love it when people who are completely unknowledgeable about a subject make ridiculous statements that show their ignorance. Howard, you have obviously not been to an Allman Brothers concert anytime recently because–if you had–you would realize just how relevant Gregg is.

To Bricotrout – I would agree with your assessment of Cher, but don't give a guy whose band started in 1969 credit for being an influence on Harrison – it would be the other way around. Harrison and Clapton both started in the mid 60s.

        May 24, 2012 at 8:23 am | Report abuse |
      • bricotrout

Well obviously George wasnt aware of Gregg and his band during the Beatles period and Clapton wasnt aware of them during Yardbirds and Blues Explosion. But after Cream when Derek and the Dominos came about Clapton went straight to Duane Allman to collaborate. George also sat in in these sessions though was not on the recordings themselves. It was Allman Brothers that directly influenced Clapton to move from a power trio set up to a full out jam band style. It was also these sessions that influenced George's early solo work in both composition and guitar work. While Clapton was much more of an influence on George than ABB was directly, it was Duane and Gregg that had a major influence on Clapton at that time, thus an emormous impact on George indirectly.

Funny thing about these old guys....they never grow up. Emotionally, they are in a zone, lost in time as their bodies become more worn out, they hang on to the rush of a new face and body and forget who they really are. So sad to see their wrinkled faces drool over the young women who very likely put up with them for their fame and money. Such a travesty.

Grew up listening to Greg Allman & band from the 70's and still enjoy it now. Greg is in bad shape. The abuse has taken a terrible toll. That sweet little 24 year old groupie he is going to marry is going to be an assisted living caregiver shortly. Sad to say but true.

You call a groupie a caregiver? Oh, well. Men...I have to look that one up in Webster's, though. Actually, his deceased brother lived together with a groupie who turned out to be married to someone else after his brother's death, claiming though to be Mrs. Allman in order to capture the inheritance of the deceased brother's then two-year old daughter forcing the former wife to go to court. The girl was an unconscionable fraud. The living brother has apparently not learned very much from that experience nor from life. Sad and stupid.

I have been in love with Gregg since I was 15 in 1974. I agree the interview was sad. Why play a song sung by Betts and exclude the numerous classics where Gregg actually sang? Piers should have done some research. I will always love Gregg and although he obviously has maturity issues, listening to him sing will always send me on an emotional journey. He deserves respect which he so obviously did not receive during the interview. I literally cringed when the age of his bride to be was disclosed, but sent my sister a text telling her I was happy our daughters, ages nearly 25 to 31 were safe from becoming one of his future wives! Still LOVE you, Gregg!

Gregg's work is unparalleled. With The Allaman Brothers Band, the music made is as good as Charlie Parker, McKinley Morganfiled, Howlin Wolf, Son House, Scott Joplin, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton, et al. Would you treat these folks the same way if they were at the end of their days? Listen to Dreams I'll Never See fromn the first album, then you can be a jerk!

The song is called Dreams. And the music which is hauntingly beautiful is played by the rest of the band and first and foremost by his brother Duane. Dream I'll Never See is the song not yet written about his own immaturity and thirst for the camera. He is worse than Henry VIII!

Gregg Allman is the greatest white blues singer ever. Rolling Stone called the Allman Brothers Band in the nineties when Betts and Haynes were playing with them the greatest live rock band of all time. For Allman, the road will go on forever. His music will never die. Thank you, Gregg, Dickey, Jaimoe, Butch, Warren, Derek, Marc, Otis and Woody for some of the finest music ever recorded. I've seen the brothers 20-30 times live and will never grow tired of it. Always a thrill. Check them out this summer and while you are it check Dickey out solo if you can.

i was SOOO happy when Larry King stepped down (who the hell asks Eric Clapton "What was it like writing Cocaine?" – a song written by JJ Cale)(or to Jerry Seinfeld "What did it feel like having your show cancelled?" – it wasn't cancelled, Jerry turned down a final season). Now Piers has a chance to ask one of the greatest living music legends about his life and experiences (what EVERY person tuned in for) and the ONLYONLY ONLY 2 topics he brings up is Cher and a new fiance??? Are you serious Piers??? You blew a once in a lifetime interview!! How absolutely pathetic of you! Ask the man where he was when he learned his brother had died; who his favorite contemporary artists are; is there another Allman Bros CD coming out; What was his gutter moment before going sober; What's his biggest regret; my lord man... that was PATHETIC of you!!!

Well, true, the interview wasn't that good but then again, a 60 yr.old with a 24 yr. old .... Pierce HAD TOO ask about that .... it's a shame that Mr. Allman is now being laughed at with his poor choice of marriage #7 ....

Simply stated, Piers' interview with Gregg Allman was painful, pathetic, and unprofessional in virtually every respect. Perhaps Piers might find it useful to watch a recording of it, in order to take a step back, gain some perspective and critique himself. He was entirely out of his element and league, and seemed only able to focus his interest and questions upon a seemingly never-ending trajectory of banality. This interview was an unqualified, disappointing effort – one that seemed more focussed on the interviewer himself than on the person being interviewed. Piers would be well-served to be reminded that it's neither about him nor about hearing him speak to excess. All to often, Piers seems more interested in either answering his own questions or using them to focus attention upon himself.

Piers Morgan was five years old the first time I saw the Allman Brothers play at the Fillmore East in New York City in August of 1970. My mother is English, so I already knew Piers is an idiot. Why CNN hired him I will never understand. Never-the-less, the whole fiancé thing just has me dismayed. Gregory must be really lonely. Geez, she is three years older than my son. She's cute, but for God's sake what the hell do they have in common? Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. I hope her parents at least talk some sense into her. She should be dating guys her own age. Obviously she has some issues, and probably is looking for someone to take care of her. I hope he gets an iron-clad pre-nup if he is determined to go through with this marriage. I guess I am just wondering what the hell he is thinking. No disrespect, but this is just not a good idea. Never marry anyone you don't know for at least two years first. No one can be charming for that long. Guaranteed she will tire of the age difference and look for someone closer to her own age. Why even get married to this young woman? He should time to see it for what it really is: a relationship that highlights both of their issues (neediness of some type, etc.). Still, after saying all that, I have been completely addicted to Gregory's music from that first hot August night. Bill Graham let me go in for free while he and my parents chatted and smoked cigarettes outside the open side door for the last part of the show. I couldn't believe my good fortune. They were at the end of one song and then announced that they would play a new song for the first time, "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." I am a total Gregory junkie!!! I better die before he stops singing or I will be seriously unhappy at the end of my life!

dammit! i missed the review and am here at this site trying to see if i can watch it.....first and foremost, what i did see of the interview was the introduction to Gregg Allman with a Dicky Betts vocal.......what????? obviously, Piers and his people dont know of Allman Brothers and their legend. Yes, they are a legend and even in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...Southern Rock....and yes, ive been to MANY concerts.....and was really looking forward to this interview; he even has a book out....but doesnt sound like i should even bother to watch it....too bad.....

I think they should be checking Piers for drugs, not G Allman. Piers, you blew it. Did you do any home work? This man was the God of southern rock and you wasted time asking him about women. If you knew anything about a blues man then you would have known they all are going on number seven, or more and they all are right out of high school. Music, music, music that is what G Allman is all about. Midnight rider? This is the man who wrote it and you wanted to know about Cher? If Gregg Allman is happy, the girl is over age, ok with it, what the hell is it anybodys business. If she keeps him making music and staying off dope, then i am all for it. Keep rocking Mr Allman.

A lot of good posts calling out Morgan on his silly, superficial, catty interview of one of the more important figures of the Rock pantheon. Morgan looked bad, but his producer is just as inept. How could CNN play a Dickie Betts song for a Gregg Allman interview? Like StefF I couldn't believe my ears. Allman is certainly one of the top 10 rock vocalist of all time and they play a song in which he isn't even singing! I mean, the book is called "Cross to Bear"–how about playing Gregg's song by the same name? What a pathetic, sloppy, degrading piece of television.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. If you are promoting something (book)you need to help the interviewer along by talking and having a conversation. Greg seems burned out with his stammers and kinda one word answers thinking thats the effects of the longtime drug use. Hey, I've loved the Allman Brothers and his solo stuff from the beginning but I think it just wasn't a good idea for him to go out and promote it if he's going to bomb all the time.

This was perhaps one of the worst interviews I have ever experienced. I am uncertain what Piers Morgan was thinking, but he couldn't have possibly done a worse job. He dwelled incessently upon essentially irrelevant points. He made his interviewee visibly uncomfortable in an inappropriate manner. He was banal, puerile and unsophisticated in both his approach and demeanor. He was confused and uninformed about his subject. He conducted an interview that was excruciatingly painful to watch. He made himself the subject and focus of attention. He talked too much and didn't allow his interviewee the opportunity to answer questions. He attempted to create a "scoop" out of nothing. In more respects than one, this interview should be added to the growing list of those that call into question the suitedness of Piers Morgan for this particular position.

I don't think Piers should take total blame here. This is a private man, who shared privy info prior to the show, obviously. Gregg had to realize once that info was shared the questions would follow. I don't care who the person asking the questions, total natural response. Mr. Allman was equally foolish to answer such obnoxious questions. He could have politely said, "I am here to talk Music not Marriage , thank a music legend he is...and 64 marrying a 24 year old seems foolish...age might not matter now(feels too good), wait until reality sets in, especially admitting only knowing the person for 4 months...marriage should be considered a little more seriously,as it is a life changing event...and Mr. A appeared to be very weak and frail...wish him well and hope #7 completes this...( maybe another book ? 🙂 "I won't get fooled again")

It was sad to see Gregg in such a sorry condition; he was not very quick on his feet which made for a lot of uncomfortable, quiet air time. Drugs and alcohol have definitely taken their toll as he himself stated. That being said, it was also clear that Piers didn't know the first thing about The Allman Brothers and was more concerned about getting a scoop (7th marriage) and highlighting what can only be described as an embarrassing situation. I see ABB every year and they are playing better than ever. Get healthy Gregg and we'll see you at the Arts Center in New Jersey.

I watch Piers Morgan from time to time, but after last nights interview of Gregg Allman that will be my last. Just what was he trying to get at? Clearly Gregg Allman is a kind, gentle man that accepted the interview in good faith. Piers Morgan's interview was a joke that collapsed on him. His total arrogance came through and nothing else. His wishes for a happy marriage were fake and fooled no one. Had it been me, I would have walked out of the interview, but then again Gregg Allman was too much of a gentleman to do that. Mr. Morgan, you are no Larry King. Just the Kings of a–h-s! That's what you'll be remembered as and nothing more. Buh bye!

Piers, that was one of your worst interviews. You're better than this. Granted Allman didn't give you much to work with on his one word responses, but your questions were trivial and somewhat demeaning when you had an opportunity to inteview one of America's music icons. Your choice of song was indicative of you and your teams lack of research (using Dickey Betts vocals). Referring to Duane Allmans death in a car crash and the decision to ask salacious questions instead of delving into a compelling Allman story indicates that you are either uninterested, unwilling to do proper research or that you are only after sensationalism. Either way, you get a black eye for this interview.

Piers, sorry, but I agree with jimmy. It was awful. I usually love your interviews, but you in no way engaged Gregg or brought up anything interesting. For example, it is interesting to hear him talk about how he was leaving for medical school and the day prior to leaving, Duane asked him to join his band and he told him he would only give it a year, and, if they weren't successful he would go to medical school – OR talk about the band members like Dicky Betts and the others, and the inroads they made with their music. I would have liked to hear about how the band all got along. ANYTHING other than what was primarily discussed. And yes, it was a motorcycle accident that killed Duane. I recall the day it happened, myself, and Gregg was a gentleman not to correct you.

yes, his (Gregg Allman) life has not been the prettiest......however......knowing all that, i loved their music; it is what they made when they were all messed up.....along with many other bands of the time.....I know it. I, nor many others i think, didnt idolize their was their music dammit and it was great!!!! truly it was.....and for that he should have been praised and the music should have been the focal. He did sound weak.....he may be ill (i think he had a liver transplant).....i still honor his music and the Allman Brothers Band, along with Dicky Betts....i still like their music....and if Gregg's life has been sad.....well, the music never portrayed it or sounded like it.....

i understand where you are coming from......but........i still like the Allman Brothers and Ive seen him, alone, and with the band, large crowds and small venues......i could never pass by a show when playing in Chicago.....

what Gregg needed was some applause for all the great music.....and they could play......he could play...

again, i dont idolize his lifestyle, but i still love the ABB and the solo albums that Gregg about the "Laid Back" Tinley Park, IL concert, i heard Jaimoe, all of the band, jamming for all of us to see....and was fabulous.....wish they'd put out a few of their jazzy stuff.....twas great....they had it.......they really did

Although I code in both a PHP framework (cake, CI, zend I tried them all) can not stand up to a the ruby on rails framework. For a small quick app ruby on rails can not compete with PHP, they both have their places.

Gregg used to get Mom high on glue and other assorted sundry chemicals. When the glue ran out, he'd have mom running around the kitchen in her thong. Gregg's a pervert. BTW, I'm actually Republican and not voting for Obama. Mom is still a psycho, though, and giving away Sonny's leftovers to Barack. This is a really effed-up world I was born into. You'd think Mom would have at least taught me some dance skills. And Ed, you are wrong. Gregg Allman's IQ is around minus 15. Only a fraction of one percent of his brain is functional. Just enough going on up there to form one sylable words (grunts, mostly), and weven that takes considerable strain.

Idiots. var a = 5 is NOT dynamic tyinpg, it is sytactic sugar that maintains the speed and type safety of a statically typed language, while Ruby is stuck with ONLY pure dynamic tyinpg. In C# (.net) you can do dynamic a = 5 and then later assign anything, even a COM object to a because it is now a truly dynamically typed variable. Of course it is crazy slow depending on the kind of object you're assigning. So C# lets you have the best of dynamic, with the efficiency of var.

I think gregg is very talented.. he just needs to get smart...this may be his last few years on this earth.....there is a season for everything. a laugh..a cry.....and so on.....not 'times'he also talks about coming to a bridge when he had cardiac problems.....and he heard the person on the other side say. dont come over the bridge...well if he could come back??? why could he not pass over it.......and one time to live and once to die....this is just my opinion, why would we keep coming back that would serve no purpose,,,just logic....there is purpose eternity and it is not over and over again on this I said this is just my opinion,,on reincarnation, hope he gets it together and is happy

Faith is the answer,, not reincarnation,....why would we have trials here. if faith was not most important, why be tested like greg was if.. when he leaves this world he just comes have trials over and over,no logic....if we were to change things the next time why would the creator.....not give us full memorie of this so called past life...

Not crossing the bridge=go back, your life is not over yet. In other words he apparently had a near death experience. But hearing it from this mixed up guy who has so many versions of the truth often, I doubt even that this happened. And the fact that the ABB 40 years ago where a magnificent group of musicians and nowadays arrogant golddiggers who embarrass themselves with rehashed music from yonder year, has nothing to do with an interview which should have never happened.

Greg Allman is disgusting and I won't ever be able to hear him sing without thinking of an old wrinkly man with a brain of mush "being"with that young young girl. Like someone said above " just because you CAN , doesn't mean you should". At least of his daughters and granddaughters who have to deal with this. Although I don't know why he would start trying to be a good father/ person now when he's left five different women with five different children. He really thinks he's in love after 4 months of knowing her? And he really thinks she loves him? The poor poor idiot.

Greg Allman has always been a southern, slow, soft spoken person who has given us great music, amazing concerts and made music history. WTH? Piers Morgan? Did you know he just had a kidney transplant? He has been through trama's and heartache and has NEVER complained. You blew it Piers and have finally pushed me over the edge and away from the show forever.

Greg, if u r reading this KNOW that u have loyal fans who will always love and respect you and thank you for your amazing contribution to music. I wish for you lots of love and luck in your relationship. You deserve it. AAB 4ever.

I can't understand how she can let that old grandpa touch her! Ewwww. Is it really worth the money? Maybe she takes a few drinks before? There is no way I could let an old geezer touch me even not even for millions. Make me throw up. But, if she is up for it, more power to her. At lest she can look forward to a good payday.

Gregg Allman. is pathetic. was so blessed to get a transplant. after all the years he abused his body......think he would not go back to the old ways, and show some respect..No,...goes on tv his only concern is his ego and a young girl on his arm. just like he did back in the days..with young adult film star. savannah wisley.....shannon wisley. her real name....I think this guy needs to give the world a break..and go away.. my honest opinion...

My thoughts exactly. Been also wondering about the fact that he just goes on as if nothing happened after this liver transplant. No respect for God, the man who gave him his liver, himself. Just ego. No brains. What a waste. He got a second chance so many never got or could/cannot afford. And then bashing his hyperintellingent brother who always corrected him in his book. Allman, go away.

For you Bricotrout..."hahahah!". Just like Lynn, I find it hilarious that Noreen thought he had had a kidney transplant. She's the one who acted " superior"...." WTH? Piers Morgan? Don't you know he just had a kidney transplant?". She has no reason to be all righteous, whiney and high and mighty when she doesn't know anything. ( also it was 2010, 2 years ago, not " just recently) Even morons know that alcohol abuse leads to LIVeR transplants. Seems like the fans of this guy might be as dim witted as he is. im amazed this conversation is continuing

the best line Gregg ever sang was "Please dont confront me with my failures, I'm aware of them"

i often think of this for myself, as one of the best lines ever written and i think, replies to all of you naysayers about Gregg Allman.....He also had talent.....he also debauched.....whatever......he is what he is......i liked him for his talent; oftened referred to him, with my description of his voice and persona, "a decadent tomcat"

Well put Kimberly. He was blessed to receive a transplant. Why doesn't he do something for people less fortunate than he is. Set a good example, help people, or give money to charity not to the makers of Viagra and your white trash gold digger girlfriend. Also, it's amazing how everyone is blaming Piers for this bad interview. Like someone said, you are only as good as the person you are talking to. If a professional tennis player had to have a rally with a 2 year old, he would look like he sucked at tennis. ( rally= conversation , 2 year old= Gregg)

Really? Doesn't really show, does it? Why do you cult figures embarrass yourselves so much? The guy is a self-centered innerly cold arrogant person who does not learn from life and his many mistakes/abnormal behavior (esp. towards his former wives and his children) nor cares about it. And then makes a fool of himself on national tv. If you think that is normal what does that say about you? HINT: marrying seven times and the seventh with a golddigger 40 years his minor is not a sign of mental health.

I read all of your replies that you took the time to address.

In music sometimes i find words that i like and take with me......not unusual is it? I happen to have found some meaning in those words "dont confront me with my failures, Im aware of them".....As i was saying......he knows what he is...and I know why i like their music......I know there's much decadence in their lives.....dont care....not why i listen to them...or liked their music.....its the music.....whatever Gregg Allman is or isnt......get off of your high horse will ya......Dont care what he does in his off time......I liked his music, and as i wrote in another post, I always thought of Gregg as a "decadent tomcat".......his voice sounded just like a appealed to me....and to many many others! Ever been to one of their concerts, FOR THE MUSIC, and you would see a sold out crowd that never left to go get beers or anything else while they were playing....I liked them.. saw them yearly for 25 years......when they came to Chicago....Im sure there are many failings he has, as you have schooled us about......i just dont look that deep......i like the music....
let it go dear.....some of us just liked the sound......just as in the Grateful was the sound, the like people getting together......Im sure you have a group you like......and would be somewhat forgiving of their failures because you liked their music.....oh, but get to know the person first and then decide if you like their music? lighten up...will ya......The Allman Brothers Band was a "happening" no longer exists........Gregg Allman is but a shell of what he once was, but he has some stories to tell......and ya know what.......if he wants to get together with a youngster, well, i think that has always been his penchant......

"it's amazing how everyone is blaming Piers for this bad interview. Like someone said, you are only as good as the person you are talking to."
likewise, an interview only goes as well as the interviewer allows. the interviewer is the driver of the vehicle. if that vehicle runs off the road you dont blame the passenger.
to see how well gregg can actually do when the interviewer is competent, watch stephen colbert's interview from last night. stephen wasnt fixated on cher or his fiancee but asked relevant questions about his career and his book. in turn, gregg was interested in the interview, socially alert and happy to be there.
and stephen isnt even an interviewer as his career. hes a comedian and did far better than piers who makes a living at it. all piers had to do was research his subject for a few minutes beforehand.

    Hey Piers,
You may want to watch Stephen Colbert's interview of Gregg from last night. You may learn a thing or 2 about how to conduct an interview with a rock legend. Colbert had no problem getting him to converse, didnt embarass him and actually brought up the topic that is central to Gregg being on the interview circuit these days... his new book! Did you stop talking about his ex wife and fiancee long enough to even mention that?

    hey Bricobrain,
you may remember that Gregg brought his white trash granddaughter girlfriend on the show and was therefore responsible for embarrassing himself. If he wanted to talk about his new book he could've certainly done that. It's so sad how Gregg's supporters get so bent out of shape defending a grown man who had all of the resources in the world to help himself. You guys are so righteous, as if the whole world was picking on a mentally disabled child. I have empathy for people who have struggled with addiction ( including myself) However, he has obviously learned nothing from being in recovery. Find a new cause. Do something useful with your life. ( abused animals, people living in poverty).

im not sure who you are referring to as being 'so righteous'. kinda weird that i would criticize peirs for doing a bad job at interviewing and im somehow 'righteous'. by that logic, you criticizing gregg makes you righteous. all i said was peirs could have done a much better job at researching his subject before the interview (like colbert did). so, simple question: if the interview was terrible (which everyone seems to agree on, its just WHY the interview was terrible that is the debate), was it because gregg brought his fiancee (which seems to be where you lay the blame) or was it because peirs spent the entire interview asking two questions 1-"what was it like being married to cher?", and 2- "omg! your young hot girlfriend!".
now, here are three inarguable facts for you: 1- gregg is a rock legend (whether you like him, respect him, care about him or not) 2- peirs did not ask him one single question in the entire interview about his career – that which made him famous and legendary, and 3- after the umpteenth question in the "omg! your girlfriend is so hot!" category gregg politely says "can we talk about something else?" to which peirs flatly refuses his request and asks more questions in that same cateogry. based on those facts, it was a terrible interview on peirs' part.
now, you will notice i did not defend gregg, his life choices, his history, who he is, etc. i did NOT say i am a fan of his or what my opinion of him is. nor did i bother to belittle anyone by calling them white trash or try to insult them by calling them 'righteous', altering their name or suggesting they have done nothing useful with their life (interestingly enough, my daughter and i volunteer at an animal shelter 3 days a week), as your line of defense/attack did. what i WILL say is that i have a degree in communications (Univ of Redlands '91) and i know a botched interview when i see one.

My previous (shorter) one posted quickly. Maybe it takes longer like 24 hours or something, I don't know. I thought I lost the first one because of traffic congestion or something when the computer truncated or something, so I reposted. They say almost the same thing. It isn't necessary to post both of them. Hope they are not offensive, I don't think so. I just wondered why neither showed up on the screen when the first one did immediately after posting it. You CAN compare Rails with PHP. They are both tools (to use a brodaer term) to develop web applications. What the commercial is saying is that developing with Rails can save you a lot of headaches PHP would cause. There is nothing wrong with that, considering that a great number of websites/web applications used to be developed with PHP alone, without any additional frameworks. So please, stop saying the same thing over and over again.

This interview was very uncomfortable to watch.....Gregg Allman is very honest about his past issues but at the same time still a very private man. People are saying how dumb, drugged etc. he was....I disagree...I believe if Gregg Allman was still using drugs etc. he would say it. It looked like Gregg Allman was looking around for whoever got him into this ridiculous situation.....I would bet he will never allow himself to be put into a situation like that again! He probably couldn't believe the silly tabloid questions he was being ridiculous they didn't even warrant a response .....and I don't blame him one bit! I give the man credit for overcoming his past addictions and honestly sharing his story.

It looks as though his tender and over-inflated ego, co-dependency on others and their negative opinions, and subsequentially his "buying into" of falsehoods concerning the real self-confessed, yet moreover betrayed, "true love of his life" have, once again, taken him off course.
LQQK,... the very definition of "insanity" lurks over his right shoulder!
