Piers Morgan to co-anchor CNN's coverage of the Diamond Jubilee

Beginning on Sunday, CNN will produce complete coverage of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, a famously regal event, complete with traditional British pomp and circumstance:

"Over four days, Britain, and the world, will celebrate her extraordinary reign," says Piers Morgan of the woman who has spent 60 years on the throne.

Chosen to co-anchor the network's coverage, the festivities will have special meaning to the man who lists both the Silver and Golden Jubilee as memorable moments, first from his personal, and then later, his professional life:

"I was editing a big newspaper in Britain then," says Morgan of the 2002 Golden Jubilee. "We did hundreds of pages saluting her majesty, never imagining actually, that she would still be on the throne, perhaps, after 60 years."

Set to host the event with CNN's Brooke Baldwin, a woman he describes as "one of my favorites, I have to say, at CNN, on the entire network," Morgan predicts the upcoming festivities will be unprecedented:

"The worlds eyes will rightly be on London, and Britain, for this incredible four day extravaganza, and for me, it's going to be quite a thrill."

CNN's coverage of the Diamond Jubilee begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and continues through Tuesday, as Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 60 years on the throne.

I agree, he talked non-stop during the telecast. He would ask someone a question and would continue to talk. You couldn't sit and watch what was going on without listening to him constantly babbling. I also couldn't believe how much time they spent discussing why the Royals are relevant in today's world.

My Mom was born in the US and Dad in Canada so I feel a sense of patriotism for both countries . I see real large patriotism during every holiday and or sporting event in the US and I think it is great . I was born in Canada and the sun rises and sets here for me even on a cold winter day. Americans got to complaining about politics and I think they have real concerns from all sides there.Even their corporation were patriotic at one time . Not so much now. Please do not let that spill over into everything that you judge . Let us get back to being loyal , positive and give Piers credit for a job well done . Stop complaining.; Yanks and Canadians have great jobs in Britain and you are lucky to have scored a great guy like Piers in the job exchange .

Pierce, I am an Irish-Catholic American, living in Costa Rica, glued to CNN, watching this Happy History taking place. Too little happiness in today's world, so thank you for sharing this great stuff with the world. We need to smile and cry thrilled tears...

Was interested in watching the celebration for the Queen, but it was all spoiled by the inept interviewing of Piers Morgan. He asks a question and before the person can answer, he asks another question. Just like his show. If he thinks that the setup of the government in Britain is so terrific, why did he not stay over there?? I have long ago ceased watching his show here - maybe he is part of the fact that CNN's ratings have gone down hill. He also has no right to come to this country and critique our political system - just a hang over of jealousy for Britain having lost a war to us many years ago??

Morgan's commentary was incredibly obnoxious. Shut your mouth so we can hear the music and take in the sights. Stop interrupting superior journalists. This is about the queen, not your ever expanding ego.

You did the show as a patriotic Brit. Bravo. I grew up singing God Save The Queen in elementary school in Canada and stood up and sang it along with Prince William today . No wonder she favours him so. Britain is a proud country where the Royals do not shy away from military service .
Indeed , God Save The Queen .

Please tell Piers to shut up once in a while. I love watching British pagentry but he ruins it with his blah, blah, blah. He couldn't even shut up when the chorus was singing. Enough already, Piers

Piers Morgan completely ruined a wonderful Jubille celebration with his non stop talking! I for one would have liked to hear the orchestra and the choir, not his self important opinions. I was born in London and also remember the coronation when we had real jounalists and commentators !!!

I could not agree more with the posts that say Piers talked TOO much. This was the worst coverage of a major celebration I have ever seen. Comments were insipid and prevented hearing and seeing the actual event; commercials were non-stop. And yes, it was raining; we did not have to have half the talk be about the weather. CNN should be ashamed and apologize to all involved.

I have no idea why Piers Morgan got Larry king's job. He is such a pompous Brit and I wish he would return there and give us a break. There are too many Brits in this country and they are one "royal" pain and like to hear themselves talk. If everything is so great over there, why are they here? I did not watch this stupid show. Clips of it were enough to put one off ever visiting the place. It is dull, wet and dreary. The Queen was a wonderful representative for her country and there ends the monarchy! Why did she and her husband have to suffer that stupid cold wet ride on the Thames? That is the Brits idea of celebrating?

Well I sure hope the Queen is paying for this massive party and thereby giving back some money the royals stole from the poor subjects and colonies over the centuries!

I do not understand why CNN still has Piers on television!!!!
He talks way too much, interrupts all his guests, and has nothing intelligent or significant to add in an interview. He is not someone I would enjoy having dinner with because he does not listen. Every single guest he has on his show gets frustrated with him but they still go on bc of the time slot and CNN. Some are more subtle than others with their frustration. It is time for a change. The audience deserves better!

See, the President and Congress both effect the encmooy, as do all the millions of business owners and clients out there...and that nutty guy who chairs the Federal Reserve Board. Not to mention the banks, traders, and businesses worldwide who influence the exchange rate for the Dollar to other currencies, and who buy stuff from and sell stuff to Americans. But if you want to focus blame on a President, consider the possibility of a "Two Year Delay", as seen .
