On Monday evening, "Piers Morgan Tonight" offered team coverage from both sides of the pond.
With regular host Piers Morgan stationed in London for The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Dr. Sanjay Gupta was paged to the studio.
An Emmy Award winner for his role as CNN's chief medical correspondent, Gupta sat down across from Michelle Pfeiffer for a candid and revealing primetime interview.
Best-known for her roles in such films as "The Fabulous Baker Boys," "Batman Returns," and "Scarface," Pfeiffer smoked cigarettes for ten years, before adopting a healthier lifestyle. Now on a vegan diet, the 54-year-old describes the switch:
"I've never really loved animal protein, I mean in terms of meat - animal meat. I ate it because I thought it was good for me, you know. And I thought I needed to eat the protein in vegetables to stay lean. Really, it was all about vanity, really, honestly," Pfeiffer revealed. "But I have to say that it's a close second with wanting to, you know, live long."
Pfeiffer opened up to the doctor about specific results she's seen since adjusting her eating habits:
"So I go on this diet and I'm curious now," she explained. "Two months later, I check my cholesterol. It has gone down 83 points."
Looking virtually the same today as she did 30 years ago, Pfeiffer also spoke to her experience as a Hollywood beauty icon, and the pressure that comes with getting older in "such an age obsessed society."
When asked if she would consider the option of having plastic surgery down the line, Pfeiffer answered honestly:
"I'm not saying that I won't at some point. I think it's harder and harder the older you get to say never. Especially being in the public eye," said the actress. "What I object to is too much and really bad plastic surgery. You know, when I think it becomes a distraction and when people don't look like themselves anymore."
Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as the award winning Pfeiffer reveals one of her healthy-eating mentors.
