Clips From Last night: Piers Morgan challenges Debbie Wasserman Schultz, BuzzFeed duo weighs in on Wisconsin

Following the dramatic recall vote in Wisconsin, on Wednesday "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcome a host of expert analysts and political news makers to help break down it's impact.

Hosting Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Piers Morgan suggested the victory by incumbent Governor Scott Walker held widespread significance for the Republican Party. The Democrat from Florida did not see it that way:

"We came up short, but at the same - of the ultimate goal, which was to make sure that Governor Walker couldn't adopt his extremist policies and continue to hurt middle class and working families," allowed Wasserman Schultz. "But apparently succeeded in slipping the State Senate. The State Senate is likely to be controlled by the Democrats."

As part of an interview in which Morgan "challenges DNC boss," according to "Politico," the host pressed on:

"You keep calling him this extremist who everyone apparently is terrified of but the reality is he won. He won pretty convincingly."

Furthering coverage of the battle from the Badger State, Morgan also invited BuzzFeed's Michael Hastings and Ben Smith; to add their insight.

"If you're sitting in Chicago at the Obama campaign headquarters, you're very, very concerned by this loss," surmised Hastings. "It wasn't just a loss, it was a big loss."

BuzzFeed's Editor in Chief, Smith spoke to a rising profile for the victorious Republican governor:

“I think this really elevated him to be kind of a folk hero on the right," he said of Walker. "I think you'll see him with a big role at the convention."

Watch the clips, and listen to the interviews, as Morgan's guests provide further perspective on the Wisconsin recall vote.

As a conservative ... I must say I have a new respect for Piers Morgan after his interview with both Donald Rumsfeld and Debbie Wasserman. But especially. I'm impressed with Mr Morgan andn how he handled the Wasserman interview.

It's so refreshing to hear an interviewer (especially a CNN interviewer) who is not operating on their own political agenda and who is not simply a doormat for the liberal "talking points" of the day.

I like how Piers Morgan .... calls it the way he see's it ... even if it is not neccessarily in line with the political leanings of CNN, or those that would speak on behalf of the current administation or the democratic party for that matter.

    Thank you Piers !

p.s. We have all heard of the concept .... "turning lemons into lemonade". Clearly Debbie Wassmerman came on the show with the purpose of turning these recent lemons into lemonade (ie. Bill Clintons favorable comments about Mitt Romney, Clintons support for continuing the Bush Era Payroll Tax Cut, and the shaillacking the democrats and unions took on Tuesday in Wisconsin).

We have also heard of the concept "you can lead a horse to water ... but you can't make them drink it".
    What about a "bucket of u r i n e".

Now we have a situation where the lemons have turned into a bucket of u r i n e , and Wasserman
(the horse in this case ... for those that aren't following my metaphors), has gobbled it right up .

    With a smile ...

Thank you Debbie .... keep up the excellent work.

Stay tuned for more lemons 🙂

Piers, stick with covering things British. You're better at that. When it comes to "things American"
you have a lot to learn. It's obvious why the political right likes you: you are "conservative" to a
fault. And your observation that Scott Walker is some kind of hero is nonsense. Walker is a mouth
piece for the corporate oligarchy that is systematically buying U. S. governance. And you, Piers, are
an empty suit of the smarmiest kind.

Piers Morgan, I've enjoyed, so far many of your interviews! You are a gentleman with manners!

There is a whole generation in my country that has no idea what it's been like to have lived through the aftermath of 2 world wars, as those on the Continent have. And they are unaware of the economic conditions they've endured since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Basically, they have no clue how blessed they are to have been simply BORN In The USA! Unfortunately, they have had no interest in World History; nor was it in the liberal agenda to have it taught to them.

For those who dislike America: My question is which country on the face of the earth would they prefer to be a citizen as a woman or a man today? Communist China? Putin's Russia?, Greece? Spain?Germany? Brazil? India? The Middle East? Mexico? I could go on .... They are completely unaware of the scale of economic suffering that is a reality on the ground in these countries. They somehow believe the grass greener across the pond and they have never lived abroad!!!!! I lived 23 years abroad and now, everyday, I am soo grateful that I was born as a woman in the USA , living here now.
Hillary Clinton was right ! She said, what has taken place in Egypt against it's female population in the last year is
" Criminal". These anti- american democrats are living in some Hollywood Utopia in their imagination! They need to read George Orwell's: Politics in the English language Essay.... to know how they've been fooled by their own leaders. They can download it off the Internet ! But could they understand it from a literacy stand point?
    All the best to you,
Keep up the good work Piers!
George Orwell would be proud of you!!!

Kudos to Piers Morgan. After the third use of the word "extremist" by Wasserman-Schultz he really needed to jump in. I guess that anyone who disagrees with her views is an "extremist." And her point regarding the recall election is absurd. It wasn't just about distaste for the recall, it was about the issues and people's perception of Walker. The fact is that more than 50% of the Wisconsin electorate, given the chance to remove Walker, chose to let him remain in office.

I can just hear the Democratic Partys' propaganda machine at work:

"Listen guys, we aren't winning on the merits of our arguments, so throw out terms like 'extremist', 'unreasonable', 'assault on the middle class, etc., etc. and maybe we'll win some hearts and minds."

Really quite nauseating. As an independent voter I find myself increasingly turned off by the self-righteous and shrill pablum coming out of the mouths of Democrats like Wasserman-Schultz.

1:24 lets cmrapoe 1:24 lets cmrapoe apples to apples didn't Obama do the same thing for Auto Industry?Answer: Layoffs to save a failing company are evil unless Obama forces them; then they're the best thing ever. But Bain should have let 100% of the companies they bought fall into bankruptcy, instead of saving over 80% of them. Or something like that; I still don't understand why everyone losing their job is preferable for liberals. Was this answer helpful?
