Only in America: Lost and Found

In Wednesday's episode of "Piers Morgan Tonight," the host used his "Only in America" segment to introduce someone who got lucky while being down on their luck:

"You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery," explained Morgan. "But one man in Texas hit the jackpot without playing a single number."

Timothy Yost is a 46-year-old homeless man living in Bastrop, TX. He generally curls up curbside when it's time to go to sleep.

But as the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host reveals, Yost's accommodation may soon get an upgrade:

"Back in January, he found a bag in a park, and inside that bag was 70 one-hundred dollar bills, and 40 Krugerrand one ounce gold coins," revealed Morgan. "The total value worth some 77-thousand dollars."

Yost turned his booty in, but after several months, it's gone unclaimed, and the city of Bastrop has voted to pay it forward, in full, to Yost.

Yost's first move? Securing representation:

"His lawyer – yes, he got himself an attorney – called it a life-changing discovery," said Morgan.

As a clip rolls, we hear Aleta Peacock say of her client:

"It means everything to him. He has a whole future ahead of him. He has the opportunity to make plans and have a real future."

Morgan had designs on interviewing Yost, the scheduling caught a snafu:

"One slight problem – he's currently in jail for public intoxication," he revealed. "So freedom and his fortune await."

In the spirit of the "Only in America" segment, Morgan encourages his subject to keep chasing dreams of a better life:

"When he is released, I hope he uses that money to get a home and get the help that he surely needs. Mister Yost, you've had a great stroke of luck. Make the most of it."
