Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the death of Amb. Stevens: "We do not like anyone losing their lives or being killed for any reason"

Coming up on Monday at 9 p.m., "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for an exclusive face to face interview that comes alongside this week's General Assembly meeting at United Nations Headquarters.

On the heels of recent unrest in Libya that led to the killing of Christopher Stevens, host Piers Morgan asks his guest about the film which may have initiated the violence:

"The big catalyst for protests at the moment in the Middle East was the video that was released which mocked the Prophet Mohammed," details Morgan. "As a result there was an attack as you know on the American Embassy in Benghazi in Libya, the Ambassador Christopher Stevens was murdered. Do you condemn the attack which caused his murder?"

Speaking through a translator, the 55-year-old former engineer and teacher finds fault with both the recording itself, as well as the subsequent reaction to it:

"Any action that is provocative, offends the religious thoughts and feelings of any people, we condemn. Likewise, we condemn any type of extremism. Of course, what took place was ugly. Offending the Holy Prophet is quite ugly," insists Ahmadinejad. "We also believe that this must also be resolved in a humane atmosphere, in a participatory environment and we do not like anyone losing their lives or being killed for any reason anywhere in the world."

As turmoil across the Middle East continues, with threats being made on American embassies, Iran's 6th president contends the current situation is a symptom of a larger disease:

"I do think that extreme, extremism gives birth to following and subsequent extremists," he tells the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host. "Perhaps if the politicians take a better position in the West, vis-a-vis offensive words or thoughts or pictures towards what we hold holy, I think conditions will improve."

Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, then tune in Monday night at 9 p.m. as Ahmadinejad shares his thoughts on homosexuality, and reveals Iran's plan upon facing a potential attack from Israel.

"We do not like anyone losing their lives or being killed for any reason" – this statement is from the man who was a professional assasin. His job was to shoot people in the head just to make sure they were really did. He was responsible for the death of Fereidon Farrokhzad, an entertainer and brother of poet Forough Farrokhzad. Ahmadinejad is just another hypocrite. The sooner he's out of office, the better – assuming he doesn't go back to being a hitman.

So, Iran holding a Christian pastor in prison and set to be executed is religious tolerance and isn't extremism? You're a fool.

This statement is from a president of a country where government-sponsored and organized mass demonstrations chant every day "Death to America!", "Death to Israel", "Death to Britain", etc. This statement is from a man who repeatedly declared that Israel, a sovereign state and a UN member "did not have the right to exist" and would "vanish from the page of time". How ridiculous can Muslim leaders be?

When President Reagan called for the end of the Soviet Union, was he an evil man advocating genocide? There's a difference between saying a regime should change (or "vanish from the page of time") and saying the people should die.

I just ask all of you one question; 'who has killed the most people in last 5 decades". You all know, but don't want to admit it. We as Muslim don't want to kill any one but when you really push some one to a corner then even a small animal like cat will retaliate. There is only one option one may have to live peacefully is "live and let the others live like you want to do for yourself'.

The funniest part is how you call yourself a thinker, yet it's clear you have no idea WHY Iran harbors resentment toward the US and Britain and have held rallies in the past with signs that say "Death to America". The Iranian revolution in 1979 was a direct response to the CIA sponsored coup in 1953 that overthrew the democratically elected Mossadeq and replaced him with the autocratic Shah that ruled with an iron fist and murdered political opponents. If another country had done that to us do you think people here would be justified in being upset and holding rallies condemning that country or not?

Also, if another country was assassinating your scientists and sabotaging and destroying your military installations on YOUR SOIL would not people in your country be justified in being upset about it or not?

How can you call yourself a "thinker" when all you do is parrot neocon propaganda?

This host is a foreigner and is trying act as those he has his finger on the pulse of America. Give me a break. He is a sensationalist. He is out there with Jerry Springer and Maury Polvitzch (sp). He has no heart nor care for anything but himself. He is supporting people that have insulted the Queen of England, his country, I now see why CNN has him. Come on America WAKE UP!!!

When I was in school, a friend of mine will always instigate an action and he will never ever participated himself. In the end, it was us, his friends who had to face the headteacher disciplinary action and him, cool and stayed back, fully exonerate...!!!

Rol Robs... I'm not sure what you mean by "instigating". Was recognition of ALL Arab states (including the still non-existing Palestinian state) since 1948 an "instigation". Was Israeli offer to return ALL lands captured in 1967 in exchange for peace an "instigation"? Were Israeli offers of peace negotiations with the Palestinian Arabs in 1948, 1967, 1978, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009 "instigations"?

Listen my American and Israeli Friends, Do you actually try to understand what you are saying? Do you know that millions of Muslims living in Israel don't have any voting right though they have been living their for 4th or 5th generations? Only Jewish can vote in Israel, Then what is the difference between a Dictator and so called Israel standard democracy. Please don't just listen FOX or CNN. Proof? What about the 2008 Gaza war? That war and the mass slaughter of innocents should be proof enough. And please don't bring up the word "instigation" since you already admitted to not knowing what it means. All I know is that before the Israelis started dropping bombs, there was no war.

You are absolutely right. This director deserves punishment! Freedom is not there to be abused, Muslim people are very great people, having given humanity knowledge in Mathematics(Al Gebre), Philosophy (Avicenna), Medicine (canon of medicine) and many other fields. And today we seem to forget the history of humanity, and show disrespect to these great people. Shame on you who belittles a great people, Shame on anyone who amuses at belittling the Great Prophet Mohammed. Read your history, and show respect, if you want respect in return.

If you believe that the director of the Mohammad mocking film should be punished then HOW Iranian President and his boss, the Supreme Leader as well as other Iranian and Arab leaders calling for destruction of Israel and killing of Jews should be treated, in your opinion? For example, should Israel level Gaza or Lebanon in response to racist anti-Jewish propaganda? Should Iran be nuked in response to Iranian denial of the Holocaust and daily mass demonstrations chanting "Death to America and Israel" and burning American and Israeli flags? YES OR NO???

If there is such redirect, as you point out in the Koran, then, it should be amended. The utility in Religion is to keep people on a morally righteous path. But that aside, the words of instigating the killing of another people, which in itself could have been historically politically correct, because it could have been written in a time of war; you cannot speak for all the Jewish people, because not every type of Jew in his world is of clean conscious, there are those that bring a bad name. I love some Jewish people as much as I love some Muslim people, but there are extremes at both ends. However, and this is a big HOWEVER, you cannot amend a people's love for their holy figure, and you must approach it diplomatically, because we all know we have to keep friends close, but enemies even closer. The point of this discussion is not to discriminate against Jews or Muslims, Rather how to amend the beliefs of the two people, because both sides have to be willing to sacrifice! We need a solution, now if Prophet Mohammed mentioned killing, maybe it was in revenge for other death that was set upon his own, are you willing to say that Jewish people have not committed crimes against humanity???

Below are the EXACT words of the "great Prophet Mohammed"calling for no less than GENOCIDE. Do you still believe that anyone should "show respect" to him and his followers? YES OR NO???

The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!

Well said Thinker23!! These people take so much pride in their religion and in their prophet, who very clearly calls for the death of Jews as you pointed out. HOW CAN THEY EXPECT that anyone could respect such prophet?? I wish they would just stop getting offended and be happy within themselves without calling for the death of whoever doesn't agree with them.

Many Americans dod not understand the Middle East and thats part of the problem. Most countries in the Middle East do not have freedom of speech and people live where the government controls what people read, watch and can listen to. In Iran everything is controlled by the Mullahs and the Imams. They do this to control the populations. That is how people like Mubarak and the current president of Iran stayed in power. And in turn America has always given support to these governments,so now that these governments are being dissolved then the populations in turn take their anger out on those countries that gave their support to the strong men of power in the Middle East.

" New York Post sends Iranian president gag gift ahead of UN General Assembly including traditional Jewish delicacies, Jewish Heritage Museum brochure and ‘I Love NY’ underwear

The New York Post has found an interesting way to welcome Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to New York: The newspaper is hoping Ahmadinejad “feels the love and tastes the gefilte fish.”

A specially themed welcome basket was sent to the Warwick Hotel in Midtown ahead of his annual address to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday – which falls on Yom Kippur.

The New York Post said it tried to “deliver (Ahmadinejad) a gift fit for a despot – from New Yorkers with love.”

The basket included locally procured classics like Gold’s Borscht, Manischewitz Gefilte Fish and smoked whitefish from the world-famous Murray’s Sturgeon House on the Upper West Side.

There were also some H&H bagels, onion bialys and Zabar’s cream cheese.

The New York Post’s gift basket

The newspaper spared no expense as the basket even included a $125 ticket to the off-Broadway play “Old Jews Telling Jokes” – booked in his name – which the paper hopes “just might take the edge off his bloodthirsty desire to develop nuclear weapons and wipe Israel off the map.”

The Post even made sure to include such essentials as “I ♥ NY” underwear and a stick of Irish Spring deodorant.

The paper then affords the Holocaust denier the opportunity to learn something about the subject by taking in a tour of downtown’s Museum of Jewish Heritage: A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. They even packed a brochure.

For good measure, the basket also includes a card – signed by random New Yorkers with greetings that include: “Happy (Jewish) New Year 5773. Available for counseling if you need it,” from one passerby; and “Welcome to New York and the USA! Home of all that is good!” from another.

The Post said it tried to deliver the care package to Ahmadinejad at the Warwick on Saturday night, but was stopped by his security guards.

According to the Post’s own account, after they were blocked by the Iranian president’s security detail, a US Secret Service agent walked over and said, “This isn’t going to happen. You have to go.”

Regardless of what you may persoanlly think of the president of Iran or what that Jew owned rag the New York Post may think the man deserves the same respect as any other dignitary on an offical visit. What the new York Post is doing is just as bad as that nutjob Pam Geller is doing with her ads in the NYC subway system. How would it be if we sent Bibi Netanyahu a load of bacon and pork tenderloin to his hotel on the feast of Yom Kippor? That would as bad of an insult that Jews in New York would hit the ceiling about treating him in such a manner. The same goes or any other visiting head of state.

Your predecessor Larry King used to interview this man and it was apparent that the questions were staged. His interviews were a joke. I gained more respect for Piers after LK retired but it seems like CNN is again stooping low to this regime not asking him the hardest questions probably because he wouldnt participate. So what we have is the same series of repeating questions on Israel and the holocust and have to listen to his none-sense answers.

A Holocaust survivor should be the first person to oppose Israeli policies towards the Palestinians. Notice, I didn't say MUSLIMS because Palestinians are Christians as well. There used to be Jews but they got the Palace treatment by Israel once Israel was forced on to Palestine. You should be ashamed of yourself for not being enlightened by the sheer hatred and contempt that you faced by the Nazis. Looks like you have plenty of hatred and contempt in your heart and mind. You learned NOTHING.

Many Muslims don't realize that calling Christ another prophet is the greatest insult to many Christians. Christians believe Christ is the Son of God. But does anyone kill or threaten to kill when people say that? Nobody is crazy to try that in the 21st century. And if anyone were to be foolish enough to think about it, Christian religious leaders, political leaders, intellectuals and even ordinary Christians would condemn it in the strongest terms. The reaction of Muslims is just handing comedians a treasure trove in future!

I am from Iran and know this guy and his followers better than many of you.. he was a killer and he is a killer.. All the bloodshed in Syria is being directed by this monkey and his boss. Problem is that the government in Iran does not have the full power, even under a much moderate president you would have seen the same amount of explosives being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan and same brutality of the regime against Iranians, the only difference is, because this guy is dumb, he says stuff which he doesn't have to say, and that, shows their true face and dangerous intentions. Number of people who like him and the system is much less than people outside Iran who see him as a hero in fight against US, because we in Iran suffer the problems and sanctions and oppression not them. Also Americans should read the history and see what a big part their democrat president (Carter) played in overthrowing Shah of Iran and helps they provided this regime to get to power.. millions of dollars got spent by Carter to bring these animals and now not only us but the world is paying for that started by bombing of US embassy in Lebanon and continues to today in Libya and won't stop until we can get rid of them.
