Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Israel: "The Zionists are very much, very adventuresome, very much seeking to fabricate things"

Coming up this evening at 9 p.m., "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomes Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, for a rare, and candid, face to face conversation.

As part of an interview that comes on the backdrop of this week's United Nations General Assembly meeting, Piers Morgan asks how Iran would respond upon facing an attack from nearby Israel:

"The response of Iran is quite clear, I don’t even need to explain that; any question in any nation has the right and will indeed defend herself," says Iran's 6th president.

Speaking through a translator, Ahmadinejad continues by raising a foreign policy question of his own:

"Why should the world be managed in such a way that an individual can allow himself to threaten a rich and deeply-rooted historical, ancient country, such as Iran – a great country, such as Iran – based on an excuse of his own fabrication?" he asks. "Another country can say, 'I am guessing that country 'B' is doing activity 'X,' therefore I will attack that country.' Can this be a successful formula for the management of the world?"

Hearing this, the "Piers Morgan Tonight" host asks his guest about the potential timeline of violence:

"Do you fear that war is imminent," Morgan inquires. "Do you fear that there will be military conflict, perhaps before the end of this year, between your country and Israel?"

Seemingly placing the bulk of the blame on the Jewish nation state, Ahmadinejad calls upon an interesting choice of adjectives to frame his response:

"Of course the Zionists are very much, very adventuresome, very much seeking to fabricate things and I think they see themselves at the end of the line," suggests the 55-year-old former engineer and teacher. "I do firmly believe that they seek to create new opportunities for themselves and their adventurous behaviors."

Watch the clip, and listen to the interview, then tune in this evening at 9 p.m. as Ahmadinejad explains his stance on homosexuality, and also shares his analysis of the recent unrest in Libya that led to the killing of Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

Piers, you are not as smart as you'd like us to believe. You fell for Ahmadinejad distinction between "destroying Israel", lock stock and barrel and just destroying it in the occupied territories. You really don't know that every millimeter of Israel is "occupied territory"? Such lack of understanding of words leads to disasters. As specialist of words you should have called him on this.

If you people don't want the USA in your backyard then why do you come to use for help. The president in Iran is pushing America to see how much we can take and decides to bring Israel into it, Are you guys really that stupid out there , If Israel wanted to blow up Iran then can without America's help. You people live like barbabarans. killing your own people and then saying it was done in ALLAH 's name. What the heck is wrong with you people. Just remember that Jesus is coming back very very soon!!! And when that happens where will you Allah be then, IF you don't want America involved then don't ask her for help when one of your dumb countries gets out of hand. What a bunch of clowns you all over there in the middle east. I would love to see it end but you need to get your head out of your butts in order to make that happen.

Ali, Ali, Ali. Let’s critique your post shall we?
        1. You are ranting and making very little sense.
        2. Why do you not use the word Israel or Israeli?
        3. Would you please offer a straightforward answer to the question: what is a Zionist? And try to keep the hateful language to a minimum. I am not aware of a country called Zion so then whom are the Zionists?
        4. Why is it that America, Israel, and many other nations have admitted in the past (albeit begrudgingly) when they have made a mistake yet Iran never has?
        5. Your English grammar leaves much to be desired. Please…try using a website that will translate your hate-filled speech first. While it will still sound loud, angry, and inadequate at least one will be able to read it more easily.

If its windows, then the processor was developed in by Jews in Israel. Using HP? Developed in Israel. Or perhaps youre too tech savvy to use a computer and are rather using your cell phone? Well you better throw that away then bacause Martin Cooper, the inventor of the cell phone was Jewish.

Before we let you guys start ruling the world, maybe it would be a smart idea to have a look at the muslim contrbution to the world versus what Jews have contibuted. This website tells it all:

Why would you even give the leading terrorist in the world a forum? We should not allow him into the country. Soft questions with no follow up. CNN disappoints again – letting a poser who hosts entertainers 'question' a terrorist and supporter of genocide like that. At least make it seem like a legitimate interview. Only Fareed or Amanpour would have been worse.

Not a single Jew is "kicked out" of Iran as they ARE Iranians. How someone can kick them out of their country? They root in this land for more than 2500 years; more than maybe most of other Iranian's roots. Jews emigrate to Israel from all over the world. Several thousand Jews has left US for Israel and that continues each year. We have to make a racial case about that?

Okay Einstein, lets compile a bit of a list here –
War of Independence (1948) – Israel is invaded by Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq within hours of LEGALLY being declared a Jewish state by the United Nations.
The Six Day War (1967) – Caused by repeated Arab terrorist attacks and Syrian military activity between 1966 and 1967
War of Attrition (1967-70) – Fought between Israel and Egptt, was initiated by Egypt to damage Israel's morale and economy after its victory in the Six-Day War.
The Yom Kippur War (1973) – On the most holy day of the Jewish calendar, Egypt and Syria launched a surprise joint attack in the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights.
        Intifada's in both 1987 and 2000
The Lebanon war (2006) – Began on 12 July 2006, with an attack by Hezbollah on Israel. Three Israeli soldiers were killed, and two were kidnapped and taken prisoner into Lebanon.

Now you probably think that Israel's airstrikes on Gaza have been unjustified. Perhaps you should consider that there have been over 8000 rocket attacks on Israel from Gaza in the past decade. These random rocket attacks are not aimed at the Israeli Defence Force but at civilians – such as those living in the Israeli town of Sderot where 6311 rockets have fallen as of November 2007. 13 lives have so far been taken including Afik Zahavi and Yuval Abebeh, both of whom were 4 years old.
What price must Israel continue to pay? Should they just lay down and allow countries such as Iran to wipe them off the face of the earth?

Maybe looking at these will further help you understand Israels Plight:

Although Iran and Israel are bitter enemies, few know that Iran is home to the largest number of Jews anywhere in the Middle East outside Israel.
About 25,000 Jews live in Iran and most are determined to remain no matter what the pressures – as proud of their Iranian culture as of their Jewish roots.

It is dawn in the Yusufabad synagogue in Tehran and Iranian Jews bring out the Torah and read the ancient text before making their way to work.

It is not a sight you would expect in a revolutionary Islamic state, but there are synagogues dotted all over Iran where Jews discreetly practise their religion.

"Because of our long history here we are tolerated," says Jewish community leader Unees Hammami, who organised the prayers.

He says the father of Iran's revolution, Imam Khomeini, recognised Jews as a religious minority that should be protected.

As a result Jews have one representative in the Iranian parliament.

"Imam Khomeini made a distinction between Jews and Zionists and he supported us," says Mr Hammami.

    'Anti-Jewish feeling'

In the Yusufabad synagogue the announcements are made in Persian – most Iranian Jews don't really speak Hebrew well.

Jews have lived in Persia for nearly 3,000 years – the descendants of slaves from Babylon saved by Cyrus the Great.

Over the centuries there have been sporadic purges, pogroms and forced conversions to Islam as well as periods of peaceful co-existence.

These days anti-Jewish feeling is periodically stirred by the media and by the Zionist nothing to do with the Jewish people.

First of all you need to look it up. Acẖashverosh was actually Artaxerxes II and not Xerxes I (there is no record at all of the existence of Esther or Hadassah in Persian cuneiform which usually named the queen(s) ). It was the Persians who freed the Jews after generations of slavery and persecution (Babylonian capitivity). It was the Persians that not only returned their stolen treasures but paid for the rebuilding and maintenance of the 2nd Temple of Jerusalem for generations! It was in the scrolls in their libraries to remind each King that followed. The Jews were pro-Persian against other enemies including the Greeks. The Persians put Jews in positions of power even in ancient times. The Governor of Israel/Palestine was a Jew put in power by the Persian kings. The Persian garrisons in Egypt were run by Jews. Next off, Jews chose to live and stay in Persia for 3000 years and the Torah was written by citizens in the first Persian Empire because they had stability and security. Many Jews in the second half of the 20th century left because of the creation of Israel and the financial incentives and land grab (it was during a pro-western period of Iranian history long before the Islamic Republic). The Book of Esther is not about the Persians wanting to kill Jews but rather a minister in power, Haman (who was not Persian but Amalekites ie Canaanite/Amorite/Semitic) who wanted to persecute the Jews because Israelites had conquered the lands of Canaan. Esther, the wife of Artaxerxes II, braved the formality of the court and went directly to the king to inform him of the situation. He then immediately had Haman killed for his lies and evil plot. An antisemitic would have divorced his Jewish wife and gone ahead with the killing. A lesser king would have killed them all. Cyrus the Great of Persia is one of only gentiles whom the Jews consider sacred even referring to him as the Messiah or the "Anointed One". Iran has been the oldest and most continuous home of the Jews in history. Why because they were persecuted and harmed? Be irritated and dislike the Islamic Republic of Iran but you shouldn't disrespect the Persians and their history and culture (particularly if you are Jewish). It was Egypt, Romans, Greeks (Seleucids), and most importantly Christian Europe that destroyed Jewish people and started antisemitism.

I thought more highly about Piers until tonight....Ahmaedinijad managed to slip away from every question. And at the end was PRAISED by Piers when he portrayed himself as a peaceful caring person who loves humanity....???
What an exhibition of sycophancy and bootlicking to a person who wants to first wipe out Israel for breakfeast and later the western world for dinner.

I think he specifies that single women are NO LONGER allowed to go skiing BY THEMSELVES. It may be a false hood, though I wouldn't be surprised if it has more than a bit of truth to it because we all know how great muslims are with women's' rights.

The USA has to walk carefully and not seem so pro Israel. We will alienate ourselves from the other
Arab League Countries. We need more positive reporting about our positive feelings for these countries. My question is why should Israel have nuclear weapons and not Iran?

You nailed it! Thank you. Great interview. what he said about Zionist regime occupying Muslim lands and the BS isreal stories about Iran Nucler BOMB its true. For once, we all need to wake up and smell the corruptions in Isreal goverment. Just read a few articles not written by Isreali's clowns, read Palestinian papers and see what they are going through. How many are dying everyday?! It's not in the news, because Isreal controls US media. We are smarter than that, I am tired dancing to Isreal music and demands. Plus, the BS isreal stories about Iran Nucler BOMB in 6 months, how rubbish. For once, lets wake up and seek the truth. wake up and smell the corruptions in Isreal goverment. Romney said 47% americans are victim........I dont know wheather its true or not But I am sure 100% sure that americans are victim by Israel for being forced to support constantly all their inhuman and illegitimate works. Ahmadinezad has one basic question " what Palestine people have to do with Hollocoust? Why they are being murdered, uprooted " . is there any Zionist can answer that? Come on atleast you dont deny humanity.

I am so saddened and disappointed with this interview. Whilst thousands of iranians are being tortured and even killed in Iranian prisons on a daily basis, just merely for questioing the fradulant re-election of his, Piers is not only troubling him with this issue, but makes him look like a sound man. He is not the elected president, and as a part of the dictatorship shouldn't have been given this podium.

where have you heard about "thousand" Iranians tortured in Iran every day? Do you believe that a country can survive with "thousands" tortured every day in his prisons? And even if that, what to do whit Ahmadinejad who has been president for last seven years? May we check also how are treated prisoners in Guantanamo (or before in Abu Ghraib). I agree with you that there are prisoners in Iran and we have a long way to become something as Norway! But there are no official statistics! But in America we know how many prisoners are there, how many executions are per year and how some people are badly treated in prisons (I'm not talking about white christian prisoners of course;).TV, radio, newspapers, ... are all full of these acts. Why don't you do something for them in a such free country? It prevents you from sleeping?

Mr.A said Occupation must end and people should self-determine their fate in Palestine. You should have asked who gets to vote in self-determination in his scenario? Men and women? Jewish immigrants? Palestinian exiles? Jordanian Palestinians? Children and grand-children of exiles born abroad? Children and grand-children of immigrants born in the land? What protection for minorities would exist against the will of majorities? What would happen to the "occupiers?" Could they be cast out by the vote of the majority?

The Iran president couldn't even answer a yes or no question. This is so like him. He feels the need to talk around everything without really giving a straight out answer. This is one reason why this American does not trust him at all. Mr. Morgan gave this president a chance to set the record straight but once again he side stepped everything.

by the way tens of thousands is a very conservative estimate .in the years of 1982 and 1983 well over 60 or 70 thousand were executed in jails around the country .there are pictures and mass graves to prove .the numbers could be some where near 300 000 .

I understand your anger. Specially if you have been in jail or lost family members. Iran is not the most democratic country in the world! I know that! Except some western countries (and that only for their christian citizens), not any single country in the world is a perfect democracy. Read US history to know how many people has been killed, how many thousand tortured and being executed before becoming what is it now. There has been about 3500 persons killed in Iran in 1982-1983. This is too much lives and is awful. Even a person killed is not acceptable but this is the fact! 3500 persons and not 70 thousand! It's important to be moderated in our considerations and giving the fact as it is.

In the first part of your programme you let us hear what President Amadinejad really feels about Israel He did not mention the words Israel or Jewish and you showed himself to be a Holocaust denier.I am not Jewish but I believe that this man is dangerous and a threat to you all. he is not bothered if he kills many of his own people in order to usher in his Messiah, The Mahdi. Like Hitler we appease him at our peril!

To all you people who care about politics:
It's nice to have feelings and patriotism about your nations or analyze others , but try to see thing beyond what they [media] show you.
This is politics, not emotional feelings of Israel, US, or Iran's governments, try to find the missing peace (economy maybe).
Wars need money, and they have consequences; and usually changing of the regimes. So why anybody want's to fall in trap of war. What are Israel, Iran, or US looking to get out of this conflict. Find the answer and the rest will come to you....
