Way to go, Piers. You acted like a true gentleman in the face of a tyrant, Alex Jones. You are welcome in America any time. Jones is the one who should be deported!! What arrogance and bad manners he has. I am sorry you had to endure such bullying by him on your show. A Fan

Watching Jones gave me an idea for Piers Morgan. Maybe he could do a few shows about the conspiracy theorists who run around accusing our government of doing the 9/11 bombing and accuse Obama of having a "hit list," etc. etc. That group publishes a slew of insane accusations that go unanswered because they are so absurd. I would llike to see Piers invite some of those so-called "Truth" people and give them a ceto rave in public, like Jones did. Their half-baked conclusions need to be exposed and degraded. Go for it, PM. And Bravo for showing us how ignorant people can behave when they are asked intelligent questions.

Mary, it appears you honestly believe that those in the present Administration, as well as Piers is concerned about you and yours. I hate to be the one to break it to you but they do not care one bit about you. They have their agenda and if you support it, fine and if not, you do not matter. Piers is a rich arrogant Brit that should live there and help them with their many social ills and not try to sway U.S. policy. I spend three years in the U.S. military protection his great country. What has he done for his or our country? Go to England on a work Visa and try to get a job there. They will not hire you. Why? Because you are an American. Sure they will take you tourist money but they will not hire you as an American because they hate us. Not all but most. Wake up. The great freedoms we have and many died for are under attack. These people do not care about you or me. If you believe they do, you are deceived.

As a Canadian citizen, our gun laws are very strict. You have to take the course and pass it in each province before you can receive a card that says you're allowed to purchase any rifle. I do not think the ar-15 weapon itself is the problem. I own semiautomatic rifles and shotguns and I am a hunter. I use the semiautomatic because if I do not kill my deer, antelope, or moose on the first shot I have to be able to fire immediately again in order to ensure that the animal is dead in a humane way. I do not want the animal running away wounded and suffering. In Canada there is a limit to how many rounds you can have in each magazine/clip that you can have, however, the law does not say how many clips/magazines I can have. So even if you stop the large capacity magazines/clips, it will not necessarily prevent the massacres that have occurred, as I am able to reload with a new clip/magazine in less than two and a half seconds. I also own what are considered restricted weapons which are handguns and again the law says I am only allowed so many shells in each clip, but not how many clips, I can have. In my handguns. I can change those clips in less than two seconds. We are also supposed to have trigger locks on all our weapons and ammunition must be stored in a separate area away from the weapons. Unfortunately, when you look at our murder rate here in Canada you will see that it is around 600 people per year and only a third of those are committed with firearms. Out of that third only 5 to 8 of the murders committed were committed with legally registered weapons! The rest of the murders were with illagely obtained weapons. If you look up a magazine called Maclean's you will see that my city has been referred to on more than four occasions as the most crime ridden city in the country. The name of the city is Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. And, of course, only the bad guys here carry the weapons and of course they are not registered but somehow obtained illegally. Here in Canada it is extremely hard to obtain a concealed weapon permit. Of course, the government never comes to my house to check and make sure that I have stored the weapons properly etc. those of us that are legal owners and follow the rules have no defense, if someone breaks into our house because our weapons are locked away. Fortunately, I break the rules and carry at least one semiautomatic handgun in my vehicle and on my person, unless of course I am in my trunks to go swimming. I keep a weapon or two loaded in my house ready to go. In the event of an intruder and when I am in public, I will not be caught without some sort of defense, besides my size and my hands. Saying that, I also carry on my person with that semiautomatic handgun that holds 21 rounds to clips extra. That same rifle that you go on about can be used for hunting and just because it looks like an assault weapon like the military uses does not make it any less dangerous than any other gun. In Canada we cannot have that same weapon that you continue to show on your program unless the plastic is removed and replaced with a wood stock. And that make a lot of sense?

"Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste. Been around a many a long year, laid many a man' soul to waste...but what's confusing you his the nature of my game. Please to meet you. Hope you guess my name." So go the Lyrics of an insight full song by the Rolling Stones.
So you own a semi-automatic weapon to spare the animal you shot from any suffering. Why did you shoot the animal in the first place if you are so concerned about the suffering you inflicted on the animal?. This is just a rationalization. What you really like is shooting and killing defenseless beings (pleased to meet you). It is an unfortunate fact of human existence that there are people who derive pleasure from killing things. The senseless availability of guns makes the probability of killings more feasible. It is all about satisfying the urge to kill. All the justifcation-speech (protection, hunting rights, the 2nd amendment, arming against a tyrannical government, etc) is just emotive noise. "What' puzzling you is the nature of my game...pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.

Us American's are known around the world for being gullible. Any ideas on why they may be? Because for the most part we are. Reason and logical do not matter to Piers or the current Administration. They are on a mission and they will do what they have to, to accomplish it.

You have been introduced to political correctness. Killing is wrong, unless of course you are in your mother's womb. Then it's not only right, it's good. And you are only to eat grass, like the animal's that you kill.
The American population has been brainwashed and there is little we can do about it. Do you think the German's understood what was happening to them in the 1930's. Most did not or things would have been different. Deceived people do not know they are deceived or they would not be. But good attempt!

Its funny how all you gun owners use the hunting question is why do you need to kill defenseless animals at all? Why are most hunters men? Because they get a thrill out of killing and your defense about having guns in your home for your protection? How do you think young kids are getting these guns.?...from their parents, from their homes... put two and two together. With all the women and children killed by men if anyone should have guns it should be women but we don't simply because most of us don't like them and we don't like killing things..

Do you know what would happen if we didn’t deer hunt? Do you know how many deaths from deer and auto accidents there are every year? My wife hunts so I guess she is the exception to your rule. Truth is, we don’t eat the defenseless beef you eat in stores. I grew up in a gun environment of many generations. The idea of shooting someone was never a thought and I carried guns at a very young age. So, your argument is totally without facts.

Mr. Piers Morgan, I may or may not agree with you on a variety of topics and that is to be expected. But what I wanted to say regarding some of the arguments involving gun control is this. The NRA has said that good people armed will do the right thing when a situation arises. Wrong on 2 accounts that I can think of. First, there have been at least 2 known cases where a person carrying a concealed gun did nothing for whatever their reasons were, the shooting of the Arizona State Representative Ms. Gifford and the other was a shooting at a mall. With the shooting at the mall, there was an article on Yahoo showing how the guy who was carrying a gun was regretful that he didn't do anything. Secondly, there is the issue with law suits. Remember when people tried to help others with some type of medical condition but were later sued? Then came the "Good Samaritan Law". Can you imagine the lawsuits that will happen when someone carrying a gun shoots someone else committing a crime. Law enforcement has a term for people taking the law into their own hands – vigilante. People can't protect their place of business with a trap when repeatedly being robbed by the same person because then they get sued for protecting their own establishment.

@Alexander D'Santi -- If a person is not part of law enforcement, he/she is not allowed to point his/her gun at a person and shoot it. How does a person know that the gunman is not an undercover law officer. The average Joe/Jane on the street cannot tell by looking just who the "bad guy" is. So unless you feel that YOUR life or YOUR FAMILY'S life is in danger, you cannot lawfully and legally shoot a person. If you do, you will be charged with a crime. It is not the place for the average Joe/Jane on the street to engage in gunfire with a person that he/she thinks "might" be committing a crime. Vigilantes who think they are doing good, very often cause greater harm. Anyone who owns a gun should be REQUIRED to take a firearms safety course run by a law enforcement official to learn exactly what limitations they are expected to operate under.

And than you can have the mass murders they have in China with knives. Why is it "how" more important than why or who. Anti-gun people love to spout out numbers on how many people die due to a gun but ignore the much greater numbers of people who die of things like a baseball bat. How can passing more laws stop a person who is bent on killing someone in the first place because the last time I knew its illegal to kill kids but that fact didn't stop him.

Hey, that is an interesting approach. "Chinese policemen show teachers and school workers how to defend themselves during an attack, at a school in Beijing on April 29, 2010. Authorities across China have ordered stepped-up security at schools and increased police patrols near campuses after a wave of knife attacks targeting children. "

I missed the program last night, but Piers Morgan is extremely intelligent. More guns is not the answer to the crimes committed every day. I watch Action News every morning and every day there is a shooting in our area. And that is true for the last couple of years. How do you define a "good guy" with a gun. Not to mention names, but last year it was nationally shown how a"good guy" shot and killed a young teenager because he thought he was armed. By the same token, "bad guys" shoot "good guys" daily and get away with it.

To me, the NRA and all of the people that need their guns are hiding behind their weapons the same way that some pit bull owners do. They are cowards to me. I'm a 72 year old woman who still lives in a city that has seen its crime rate soar. I do not have nor do I want a gun.

As for young people watching tv, movies or playing violent video games, what can you expect? The shootings and killing sprees are depicted as being ok, and the winner is whoever kills the most people. In Hitler's time, children were taught to hate certain cultures, that they were the superior race and they grew up to be mass murderers. Is the violence going on now much different?

Guy gives you a form to check a bunch of boxes to answer yes or no questions. Have to put your name and info down and they call in and see if it is ok to give you the gun. Few minutes later, you are out the door with your new gun. I bet if you google it, you could get a look at the form and the questions. It is just a one page and you sign it on the back.

He also fails to report that the majority of them happen in cities like Chicago, New York or LA. Which like people have tried to point out have some of the most strict gun laws in the nation. I am not saying that you have to have a gun that is your right, what I am saying is don't try to take away my rights. Or other way to put this is the first amendment protect the speech you don't like not the speech you do like, same goes go the second.

His stats are out of whack. There were just under 8000 firearm murders in this country in 2011 according the FBI. While this is no small number it's a lot smaller than the 11000 figure Morgan has been wrongly quoting. Furthermore, his continued use of Britain's gun murder rate is misleading. Agreed gun murders in Britain are low, but what he doesn't point out, despite having a virtual gun ban, that the violent crime and murder rate in Britain is one of the highest in the Western World. The Swiss, Germans and French, who are some of the largest gun owning nations in the world, ranked 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively in terms of private gun ownership, have murder rates that are 40% lower than Britain's. If we subscribe to Morgan's argument that more guns mean more crime, then these three European countries should by virtue have significantly higher homicide levels than gunless Britain, but they don't.

The Home Office gun murder rate he is misleadingly quoting for Britain, is just for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland report separately, so your higher number is probably correct. It's Britain's total overall murder rate that is important and demonstrates the floor in his argument, especially when you make the homicide rate comparison between some of Britain's large gun owning European neighbors, and see that they all have significantly lower rates of murder.

Ok, I get it now. You are saying that we have a right that is a foundation of our society and no one has proven anything that shows that right is a direct cause of any of this. The fact that limiting the weapons capability would somehow change things doesn’t mean anything. What people are saying is that if we took the gun away from him at the time of the shooting this couldn’t happen, but what we are really saying is to take all guns away so he shows up with something else. The government and it seems CNN may have an agenda that has nothing to do with isolated cases of violence because they ignore larger issues of violence. Does that about sum it up?

Did you get my message? I decided you were right and I was wrong. Violating your right by making laws that limit a specific weapon doesn’t fix anything. I was looking at the specific situation and thinking by changing something on the weapon used in the situation would have done something. Truth is I can’t change it after the fact. If I change it before the fact I only cause the suspect to bring something else. Your right that these individuals had a preplanned goal and they bring what it takes to accomplish that goal. Sorry, it took me a bit to see through all my own smoke.
