Piers Morgan welcomes Rachel Nichols: "Your producer, Jonathan [Wald] had a hand in me being at CNN"

With Super Bowl XLVII less than three days away, on Thursday evening Piers Morgan huddled up with one of his newest colleagues, Rachel Nichols, welcoming CNN's brand new sports anchor and reporter to his program and to the network.

Having recently joined the team, the 39-year-old Northwestern graduate revealed some of the details behind landing her newest gig:

"Your producer, Jonathan [Wald] had a hand in me being at CNN. So, we'll see how I do on the rest of this appearance," she said. "If I do well, maybe he'll get a bonus. If not, maybe he'll get fired before the end of the show and you'll have to finish by yourself."

Knowing his own executive producer all to well, Morgan laughed, and added:

"He'll wait and see how you do, and he'll claim all the credit if it's successful, and if it's not, then obviously, he'll have never heard of you."

Focusing on the pre-eminent Super Bowl subplot, which pits brother head coaches Jim and John Harbaugh against one another, Nichols explained that earlier in the day she spent time with someone who knows a little something himself about being a part of a famous football family, Archie Manning.

Himself a former NFL signal-caller, these days Manning is more well-known for being the dad of two current quarterbacks, Eli, of the New York Giants, and his older brother Peyton, currently with the Denver Broncos.

Rolling video of their conversation from New Orleans, Nichols says Manning told her being a proud papa to two dueling sons can be tough on game day:

"Everybody thinks it's so great, it is a great story for everybody else. But it's not, that game is not fun, for them [parents,]" Manning explained, seated face to face with Nichols. "I just kind of endure it, just kind of get through it."

Watch the clip, and listen to both interviews, as Morgan welcomes Nichols, and Nichols speaks more with Archie Manning. Then hear CNN's newest sports talent tell the tale of the young Harbaugh's dividing their shared bedroom by tape and battling over music.

Regarding the Super Bowl Ad with the man taking off a Jamaica accet – people need to lighten up. For those of you who don't know, Jamaica has plenty of white people (including myself), so there is nothing racist about this ad at all. In fact it makes you laugh as an American is not that good at taking off a Jamaican accent!
