Clips From Last Night: Dr. Amador on the mind of Christopher Dorner; Terry Probyn sends kind words to rescued Alabama boy Ethan and his family
As the manhunt for accused gunman Christopher Dorner continued, on Thursday evening "Piers Morgan Tonight" welcomed Dr. Xavier Amador to the program, inviting the the founder and director of the LEAP Institute to share his expert insight and perspective on the mind of an individual said to have targeted and killed three people related to the police force in California:
"It's vindication," said Amador regarding Dorner's motive behind the killings. "He accuses the LAPD of taking away his naval career, his relationship with his mother, with his sister, of ruining his life. It's psychotic thinking."
Talking live with Piers Morgan via Skype, the author and psychologist offered further analysis of the dynamic between the police force, and the man for whom they're searching:
"The LAPD are hunting him down," continued Amador. "They're his target. And the LAPD are, you know, understandably concerned not only for public's safety, but their own safety. They've been singled out."
Meanwhile, on the heels of the dramatic FBI rescue from earlier in the week, during which a six-year-old boy was rescued from a kidnapper, on Thursday the host called upon Terry Probyn to provide some context.
The mother of Jaycee Dugard, the 11-year-old who'd been abducted and held prisoner by a convicted sex offender for 18 years, Probyn spoke of the recovery facing a family who's child is a victim of abduction:
"If anything, I would just tell mom and family to take your time and, you know, protect your privacy and give yourself time to come out of the shock that I experienced," advised Probyn, referencing the mother of six-year-old Ethan, who had been held in an Alabama bunker by abductor Jimmy Lee Dykes.
Since emerging from captivity in 2009, Probyn says Dugard and the rest of her family has been recovering through the help of "family" and a "trusted source to help the healing process."
Offering one final bit of advice based upon her own experience, the guest added:
"I just say take your time. Do the healing process and rely on trusted support such as the national center."
Watch the clip and listen to the interviews as Amador takes viewers inside the mind of the LA gunman, while Probyn tells Morgan, "I share that mother's [Ethan's] joy. I share her heartache."

I'm not condoning Dorner's actions, but here is a food for thought.
– You got officers ruining people’s lives with false charges.
– You got officers that get away with beating people.
– You got officers that mangle people do to recklessness.
– You got officers shooting people that weren't a threat.
– You got officers that kill people because of poor judgment.
A majority of them get away with it; no apology, no reprimands, no personal responsibility, and they don't have to answer to no-one.
Now, who's dangerous? Which of the two is a bigger threat to society, the few bad ones still wearing the uniform getting away with atrocities towards citizens or the one who has a vendetta against his former corrupt colleagues?
For the last few weeks Piers Morgan's primary question is why anybody would need an assault rifle with more than 10 rounds for protection. Today, as an ex cop and trained navy sharp shooter looses his mind because of what the legal system did to him, we here in Corona CA would love to have an assault rifle with a 100 round clip at our disposal should this guy come through our door. We (with our children) are on Pins and needles wondering where Dorner will show up next and you can bet we will need more than 10 rounds to bring him down if we don't get shot 1st. 30-100 rounds may be the only advantage somebody has against his skill and expertise running crazy here with a death wish and a promise to kill cops and others. This is an evolution of a society, people are evolving to take action against others with all of their anger as the system fails good hard working people. It will be many many years before humans evolve away from this kind of violence, and in the mean time, us honest, hardworking folks will need to protect ourselves from the folks that decide to "check out" of society and allow their anger to take over. As these types of crimes increase and people resort to taking action into their own hands, we need to take note on the reasons they fall onto their path. The legal system fails good people and will drive others to this type of behavior in the future....and the foreclosure and divorce rates will fuel this new evolution of a society toward violence. Any good man that had the legal system destroy him in a divorce knows the pain of the legal system stripping everything they have from them.....this Dorner situation is very similar stripping him of his life. I dont condone his actions, but I understand how 1 can feel they need to take action after the system fails them.
This situation just demonstrates how easy it is for weapons to be in the hands of those that shouldn't have them. You wouldn't need an AR, if you didn't have to worry about someone bursting through your front door loaded up with weapons.
I agree with one thing you say though – that the 'system' is obviously failing. So many people feel on these forums have absolutely no faith in law enforcement agencies to protect them, which is a very serious problem that obviously needs addressing.
Even so, I have to point out that in countries like Australia and the UK, there are people with severe untreated mental problems and drug -abuse problems, but still the homicide rate is a fraction of what it is in the U.S. And I'm not just talking gun homicide, I'm talking total homicide. And yes, Australia and the UK's population is smaller than the U.S. but even when you multiply the number to even it out with the US population, it's still a fraction the U.S. homicides.
People always say that if guns are outlawed (and yes, I know that Piers doesn't even want guns outlawed, only particular types), that only outlaws will have guns. But in societies where there are less guns, it is much harder for criminals and mentally unstable people to get hold of them.

“Give Piers Morgan an indefinite resident alien and Visa card. Mr. Morgan, the problem that many American gun owners have with you and your continuous discussion of gun control is that you are not an American citizen and have an accent that is distinct and clarifies that you are a foreigner. I want you to know that I agree with you 100% on enacting stricter firearm laws.”
I pray for the families of the LA Police. I hope they got their AR´s in time so they can defend themselves. I would not want take this guy on with only a pistol.
Erik, I'm sure that as a journalist, Piers knows exactly what was in Dorner's manifiesto. I wonder why so many people are behaving as if his mentioning Piers in it somehow disproves the need for stronger gun laws. It still doesn't. He's still a crazy guy with several guns. Without the guns he'd just be a crazy guy and far less dangerous.
