With the South African police's dismissal of the lead investigator presenting a new twist in the case of Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius, on Wednesday evening Piers Morgan invited Kim Martin to offer personal perspective and unique insight on a story that has captivated people across the globe.
A cousin of Reeva Steenkamp, the model girlfriend shot dead by Pistorius on Valentine's Day, Martin spoke of the "surreal" moment of learning the news while stuck in traffic and listening to the radio:
"I just remember thinking the whole time that there's no way," said Martin. "This is not - somebody is playing a joke, and they're going to - the radio guy is going to come on and say that this is a big joke."
Continuing to express disbelief, the guest simply could not accept the passing of her cousin:
"Reeva is not supposed to be dead. Reeva had her whole life ahead of her. She was going to be doing great things."
Also as part of last night's "Piers Morgan Tonight" program, the host continued the gun conversation, welcoming Paxton Quigley who spoke specifically about firearms being used by women.
The author of "Armed and Female, Taking Control," Quigley addressed gun manufacturer marketing campaigns that are geared to a female audience, and the ways in which such advertising impact sales:
"I think they're [gun manufacturers] marketing that way, but I don't think women are following in that way," she told the host.
"In most cases, I would say that women go to a gun store. And even before they go to a gun store, they first learn how to shoot and they're not shooting pink guns," said Quigley.
Additionally, Wednesday's show also featured the stars of TNT's "Dallas" – Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray – joining Morgan to remember their good friend and co-star Larry Hagman.
"The three of us, we're the best of friends," said Duffy, revealing the friendship between himself, Gray, and Hagman, who passed away during the filming of their show's second season. "And the good news about that is nothing was left unsaid between the three of us."
Noting the closeness of their bond, Gray detailed: "We were known as the 'Three Musketeers.'"
Continuing to eulogize their late colleague and companion, then man who played Bobby Ewing to Hagman's J.R. shared a heartwarming sentiment:
"The day to day experience of being able to be in his presence that leaves an empty spot that you just can't fill up," said the 63-year-old. "You just wish he was there, because he was so much fun."
Watch the clip and listen to the interviews, as Morgan touches upon everything from the tragedy of Steenkamp, to the marketing of firearms, to the tribute of an icon, which had Gray saying Hagman is "always with us," and "always in our hearts."

I tuned in channel surfing when I saw this on; the Pistorius case is intriguing. Totally turned off with the raging and nonsensical Vinnie (?) lawyer–really, the man looked frothing and quite mad. It was funny in contrast to Dershowitz (?) whose manner was measured and intelligent. Really took away from the show's credibility IMO to have such a guest; I am divided on whether Pistorius looks guilty or not but after seeing such a nutcase rant I just shook my head. Now I see why I don't tune into Piers anymore with this type of guest commentator.
I find the younger of the two lawyers you have invited on to talk aout Pistorious case interesting. His point of veiw is so important to your guns debwate. He said that Pistorius is guilty, as he admites to shooting who ever was in the bathroom, he says that you cant just shot people like that. That is you cant shot people who are locked in your bathroom even though you think they might have broken into your house.
It is so cowardly to shot burgalars like that. When i think of all the young men I have ever known who might have turned into burgalers, then i feel worried for themwhen i think of home owners who just shot intruders. It is just cowardly to put your life so far before somone elses that you will shoot them without any effort to find out who they are and if they are dangerous or not, to shot them through a shut door for example. Or, maybe. it is to be a demigod, too important for others to importune you. You have to be sure whoever it is is a real threat before you shoot them, even if making sure might mean you are shooting too late, that is one of the thing being brave is all about, though indicision is all about waiting too long when you should know that you have proof, a lot of it and you can never be dead sure, so keeping the distance between the cowardlyness of attacking before you are sure you are agressed and indecsison that makes you unreal and cowardly for not attacking, is hard.
Not being so scared of being shot that you do for anyone you meet both in the literal gun shoting sense and socially, I know a lot of people who will do for anyone who seems the least likely to pose a problem for them socially, You say they have a pinple on their face and they say you have done for them and mean to make sure they will never rise again type people, they will run you right out of town and make sure you never come back if you suggest they have a pimple on their faces or accuse them of any more important character fault. Even in the second case, to hold you down forever for critiscising them once or twice, is brutal.
Part of gun laws arguement is how far are you willing to go, on the risking your own life front, to make sure the chances of unfortunate mistakes are reduced. Like, I would rather not have a gun than think of all the people who comite suicide and die for gun violence and gun mistakes because I insist on the importance of defending myself, and all one can say is that America, in this, is this is a very cowardly nation. rose macaskie madrid
