Clips From Last Night: Jack Hanna on the fatal lion attack; McKay Coppins, Ryan Lizza and Don King look at Roger Ailes legacy

Last night, Jack Hanna, Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo, joined "Piers Morgan Tonight" to discuss the tragic death of an intern by an African Lion at Project Survival's Cat Haven.

Wednesday afternoon 24-year-old Dianna Hanson went into Cous Cous' cage and tragically lost her life at the hands of the 350-pound lion. Cous Cous was shot and killed per safety protocols. Hanna reminded the viewers that the lion is still king of the jungle.

"They are wild animals end of story," Hanna emphasized. "No matter what anyone says, they are wild animals ... A lion is called a king of beasts obviously for a reason."

The other trending story of the day was Roger Ailes' comments about Barack Obama, Rupert Murdoch and others. To shed some light on Ailes' legacy (and the question if he is worthy of biographies) McKay Coppins of Buzzfeed and CNN Contributor Ryan Lizza joined Morgan for a lively discussion.

"He has had incredible influence on the news media since the mid-90s when he started Fox News," Lizza, New Yorker Magazine correspondent, said. "So, no doubt about it, he's a worthy subject and has had impact."

Lizza said he's cynical about what Ailes is doing: "I think what he's trying to do here, and has every right to do, it is this is sort of legacy burnishing part of his life."

"He's really probably one of a handful of the most influential Republicans in the country," Coppins noted. "I mean, you watch Fox News, that is the face of conservatism right now."

Legendary boxing promoter Don King also joined the program and weighed in on Ailes' comments.

"Roger Ailes is a genius," King explained. "He is a guy that knows how to manipulate the public, knows how to work."

The 81-year-old wasn't surprised by Ailes comment calling Obama "lazy":

"It's offensive, but it's normal. It really ain't no shock to me. This is something that - you talk to many of the whites, they're the victim of the same thing, exploitation."

Watch the clips and listen to the interviews as Coppins, Lizza and King describe the man behind Fox News while Hanna educates on the dangers of cats.

I am so sorry for the death of Dianna. Sometimes, we don't understand that these animals even though they have been in captivity since they are cubs, they are dangerous. I am from Buenos Aires, and in the year 2002 I went to a zoo where you are allow to get into the cages with these 500 kg lions. I actually I have a picture with these animals. Now, I realize how dangerous it is to be next to them.. I was lucky.
    my condolences to Dianna's family.

My opinion is that Lions, tigers, and all types of animals should not be in a cage, they become distressed and it is not fair for them to live a life like that
