John McCain on the TSA: "Our security procedures have basically not changed in the last twelve years"
The Transportation Security Administration’s recent decision to begin allowing pocketknives and other sporting gear on planes once again has been met with great concern from the American public. Pocketknives were banned from aircrafts following the September 11 attacks where they were used.
Tonight, Piers Morgan talks to Republican Senator John McCain about the TSA’s decision and the public’s reception.
“They’re obviously not making the case to the American people in a way that Americans find satisfactory,” he says.
Though McCain is not an expert on TSA stategy, the senator posits improvements that could be made to the entire operation:
“My beef with TSA, my friend, is that our security procedures have basically not changed in the last twelve years. They’re still having to do invasive body searches, we still wait in long, long lines. Couldn’t we have a fast lane? Couldn’t we develop a technology where we could just walk people through?”
He suggests that the only way to make progress is for the TSA to explain their decision in front of a committee who asks the right questions.

Good to see you, Senator John McCain! There're lots of countries which they didn't even have invasive body searches machines as advance as which American people could have, but I think that Sen. John McCain was not just blaming on the long lines.
Flight attendants do not like the ruling, neither do air marshalls. SO....................what happened to Piers' Facebook page? Couldn't stand the hate messages from gun advocates? That's what happens when you are an arrogant imbecile from a foreign country who has NO business preaching his anti American garbage.

If passengers are gonna be allowed to carry pocketknives, by all means we should ALL carry one. If terrorists or some nuts terrorize us on board, we can all gang up on them and stab them into submission.
I certainly agree that most of what the TSA does now is a complete waste of irreplaceable hours of people's lives.
The small-knife debate in particular just boggles my mind. The argument is that I don't need a knife on board? Seriously? I don't need any of the other stuff I carry on, on the plane either. I don't need the toothbrush, nor the razor, nor the change of socks and underwear, nor the ethernet cable, nor the glasses repair kit.
But, surprise, I do need all of these things AT MY DESTINATION. I invite the Flight Attendant's union to set up a fund to pay my checked-bags fee ($25 each way) so that I can check my oh so dangerous travel corkscrew with a 2 inch dull knife attached. (And yes, I've had the darn thing confiscated, more than once, when I forget to remove it if I'm not checking my toiletries bag.) Don't want to pay my checked bag fee? then I need to carry it on board, because I want it AT MY DESTINATION.
People seem to forget that the TSA rules aren't there for personal safety. I don't see why I should be any safer from personal attack on airside than I am on landside. The TSA rules are, or should be, there ONLY to prevent someone from taking over the plane and using it as a bomb; and secondarily, to make it harder for someone to crash the plane. That's it. The TSA is not a personal protection service.
Gun Shows and the Black Market are much alike
Annually gun shows sells 40% of firearms sold in the United Sates. On March 11, 2013 Piers Morgan from CNN had a guest who was an American journalist working as a foreign correspondent for the BBC world news network. She was a very sharp female journalist from Texas who went to a gun show and easily obtained an AR-15 assault rifle without being challenged on neither identification nor background check by a commercial gun dealer at the Gun Show. A private Gun Dealer is not required by law to ask for identification nor a background check to sell a firearm, but, a commercial Gun Dealer is required by law to do so. Both of these gun dealers are found on all gun shows. In her case, she approached the commercial gun dealer and showed interest in purchasing an AR-15 assault rifle where a price was quoted and agreed on. The dealer did not request for her driver’s license so she pulled it out anyway and handed to him, and he just brushed it aside without interest, and also the dealer did not run a background check neither, and on top of that, the dealer refused to give her a receipt for the purchase, but, after a continuous request for a receipt, she did get one. It appears that Gun Shows are no different than an illegal Black Market for guns, so gun shows are gun runners and they should be illegal to operate anywhere in the states. Where are the federal agents who can close these illegal loopholes that are hurting our nation? After her report, she did return to the commercial dealer with her receipt and sold her AR-15 back to the dealer. The reporter did not say what the price difference was between the purchase price and return. Pierce Morgan seems to be on my “A” list at the present.
Poor Peirs; "I don't understand..." about why people want to carry a knife. I average using my knife about 2 to 10 times a day. Of course you don't understand, do you do anything for yourself? Do you understand why we have shoestrings? By the way a trained person will kill you quicker with a ball point pen than Peirs could cut a biscuit with a sharp knife.
Also, I for one will stand up and defend an aircrew. You act like the 4 inch knife makes alll the difference. Would you just sit in your seat while someone stabs you?? Do you TRY and understand opposing views??
