Piers Morgan meets his favorite comedian, sees more than his eyes can handle and much more in this week's diary

Piers Morgan's most recent diary entry for the "Daily Mail" goes behind the velvet rope of one of Hollywood's most famous parties and behind the scenes of a TNT drama-comedy.

In between headlining CNN's network wide coverage of the Academy Awards, the "Piers Morgan Live" host did find time to spend some quality time with Hollywood's hottest at one of several parties.

In this week's diary, Morgan describes the chance meeting with one of his long time favorite comedians:

"Joan [Collins] whispered in my ear, ‘Would you like to meet Steve Martin?’ I looked across to see the great man sitting a few feet away. ‘God, yes – he’s one of my all-time comedy heroes!’

Joan didn’t hesitate. ‘Steve, this is a friend of mine, Piers Morgan.’

Martin looked up, smiled broadly, stretched out his hand and uttered the immortal words, ‘Hi, Piers – I really admire your work.’ I waited for the inevitable punchline, but it never came."

At that same party Morgan also ran into Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos who was reminded how far his company, and the technology world, has come:

"‘We’ve met before,’ I said. ‘I sat next to you at a dinner in London 12 years ago when I was editor of the Daily Mirror newspaper.’

He looked none the wiser.

‘I remember it well, because you spent most of the meal telling me how newsprint would be obsolete before too long, and my readers would be viewing their paper on small electronic tablets within a decade.’

Bezos smiled."

As the title of his diary suggests, one of Morgan's most-memorable moments from the week came about from a cameo in a TV show:

"I recorded a cameo performance in a hit American TV legal comedy called Franklin & Bash today, and a few of the show’s stars came to my CNN studio, including the two male lead actors and famed Hollywood beauty Heather Locklear.

‘Right,’ said the director after we’d got a few lines in the can. ‘Time to get naked!’...

Then Heather burst out laughing.

‘Not me, sorry, Piers… just those guys.’

I turned to the two male actors, who were now wearing just towelling robes and unsettling grins.

They both winked, not so coquettishly.

And seconds later, they stripped naked in front of me for a TV moment that I suspect will now be replayed until the day I die. I didn’t demand any retakes."

The next day Morgan interviewed a Virginia pizzeria owner who is offering customers a 15 percent discount if they are carrying a gun:

"He claimed he’s doing this to ‘protect my Second Amendment rights’ – but after further questioning, he revealed the real reason he thinks his fellow civilians should be armed to the teeth:

‘The United Nations may attack us.’

And yes, he really did believe this."

Our committees interim report offers particular emails the place the White House and State Department insist on taking away all references to a terrorist assault to guard the Condition Office from criticism for rendering inadequate security, Boehner explained at his weekly information meeting from the Capitol. Although just a few Dwelling associates "were able to evaluate these e-mails, they were not allowed to sustain them or share them with people," the speaker explained.
