Gerard Butler on working with Navy SEAL's to prepare for his current role: "They are so dedicated and committed and passionate ... it is amazing how their brains work"
Coming up this evening at 9, Piers Morgan sits down with Gerard Butler for an entertaining interview that's equal parts humorous, and humble.
Joining "Piers Morgan Live" in studio, the 43-year-old star of such films as "300," "Gamer," and "Playing for Keeps," discusses his current movie "Olympus Has Fallen," in which he portrays an Ex-Navy SEAL trying to protect the president amidst a terrorist attack:
"They're amazing individuals," says Butler of the Navy SEAL's, whom he trained with for the sake of the project's authenticity. "They are so dedicated and committed and passionate. It is amazing how their brains work. So, you spend a lot of time with them and you learn to think that way, because once he gets in there, it's literally, you know, I've got to assess the enemy, I've got to establish lines of communication, I've got to, you know, find ammo and that's a fascinating part of the process."
In "Olympus Has Fallen," Butler's character must overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, battling without the aid of any back-up, against a gang of enemy forces possessing significantly more weaponry:
"That was another interesting dynamic to play was that I am up against it," Butler tells his fellow Brit. "I call my wife at one point and I really think this is good-bye, you know, even though I'm like, 'Hey, how's it going?'. But at the end of the day, he has to be going full 100 percent confidence that he's going to get down to that bunker, get the president, and help the advisers on the outside bring in the government forces."
