Jeremy Piven on playing Ari Gold: "You do a role like that ... people think it's a documentary"

Coming up tonight at 9, Piers Morgan rolls out the red carpet for a celebrity guest all too familiar with the royal treatment, thanks to an iconic role on American cable television, and now, a new portrayal rooted in the British television presenter's homeland.

Joining "Piers Morgan Live" for a face to face, primetime interview, actor Jeremy Piven details a world in which the public seems incapable of separating his existence as an actual person, from that as the fictional Ari Gold on HBO's "Entourage":

"Before I had done that role, there was no reference to me being anywhere near or like that character," says Piven, of the neurotic and abrasive agent he channeled for eight seasons. "I had played like a series of kind of like best friends, shlumpy kind of, you know, best friends. And then suddenly, you do a role like that, and then ... people think it's a documentary."

While "Entourage" fans eagerly await an upcoming feature film, at present the 47-year-old, three time Emmy Award winner is enjoying tremendous success with a new small screen project – "Mr. Selfridge" – set a century ago in England:

"As you know back in your former life in the UK," begins Piven, referencing the "Piers Morgan Live" host's native land. "They do period dramas better than anyone in the world. Here's some random American coming into their backyard and doing a period piece. They're going to crush me and send me packing. And for whatever reason, we were averaging about eight and a half million [viewers.]"
