Nick Kristof on the potential for a missile strike: "If there is a real war, that will be the end of North Korea"
Amidst rising global tensions stemming from the potential for a missile strike coming out of North Korea, on Wednesday Nicholas Kristof joined "Piers Morgan Live" to add his trademark brand of informed perspective.
"I think that almost everybody who looks at it thinks that most likely North Korea is just throwing a tantrum, because this is a strategy that has worked in the past," said the "The New York Times" columnist. "There is, as you say, there's always this concern that they may play their cards."
Asked by the host what other countries are most-likely to intervene should Kim Jong-un opt to play that aforementioned card, and Kristof surmised that America would be heavily involved:
"The U.S. will be the central force there," he told Piers Morgan. "But if there is conflict, that will be the end. If there is a real war, that will be the end of North Korea."

If there is a conflict, or war, however you want to phrase it, it will mean the END of North Korea. They are acting like a brat child, nobody loves or cares about us, so we will MAKE them care. Yeah ok, and im the pope!!!!!!!!!

Think this is really has been up to SK. Do they want the number of death to be that high? For them is it worth the lives to unify them both. I feel for the SK they are happy with what they have and are not willing to have a costly war but that is only my opinion.
Mr. Kristof has not said anything that is new. No one has. No, we do not want war. Yes, NK does to settle it once and for all. China could be very upset with the outcome if we have to retaliate at NK because missles have been known to hit the wrong area. And if we used nuclear warfare China might be affected to some degree. China is not happy about all of this, they don't need war, they are at long last a powerful leading country and things are looking up for them as are the SK. NK seems to me to be saying they will win or they will die. But knowing they only have so much capability, it seems like a suicide mission to me. I mean if you could only hit one side of the states and that's a big if, then you would have to realize that we would naturally have to hit them and if they did manage to hit anywhere they are threatening I feel our country would overpower them quickly, so what is their point. What's the point of being their elite leader over there if they are all gonna die? Makes no sense. Although I figure Iran might get in on this somehow, they probably sent most of the weapons to NK hoping they would pull just such a stunt. To me it seems like mass suicide for NK. And for the people who sorely want out of that country, I feel sad for them, and wish I could help them, but their leaders are really messing up and it's time they realized it. Obama has been very quiet, and I feel he is just waiting to see what Kim is going to do. Which is wise, we have not been the aggressor even in the face of the challenge. We've kept our cool, we've been quiet and we wait to see what Kim is up to in reality. But if this is all some kind of bluff, they are really playing with fire this time. Kim has to know he can go too far, to where he can't turn back, and that would mean the death of NK. It is all so sad.
