Tonight: The Boston Bombings - What happened?

Tonight Piers Morgan continues his recent string of double duty, as the CNN host will man the desk for a pair of live hours, first at 9 p.m., and then again at 12 a.m., as coverage of the Boston bombings continues across all of the network's programs and platforms.

On a day which has seen charges filed against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the recently apprehended "Suspect #2," this evening famed lawyer Alan Dershowitz will join the program, offering his unique brand of legal insist and context.

Meanwhile, on the heels of a manhunt that tore through his town, tonight Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau will reveal some of the details from Friday's search, including the gun fight, as well as the examination of a supposed "Lone Wolf Theory."

Additionally, "Piers Morgan Live" will also invite New York State Senator Greg Ball to offer his opinions on torture, while guests Julian Pollard and Paula Gillette will be tasked with presenting some context on the elder Tsarnev [Tamerlan], as Pollard often sparred with the late 26-year-old at their boxing gym, while Gillette was a neighbor of Tsarnev's wife.

Tune in this evening at 9 and 12 as "Piers Morgan Live" continues coverage of the deadliest domestic terror incident since September 11, 2001.

Piers Morgan stated he would deport himself if the gun law failed. Is he going to take all the liberals with him? I will make a contribution if he takes Feinstine, Shumer,Dumberg ,Pelosy and MSNBC with him. Welcome to the Land of The Free and the Home of the Brave. By the way this is still The United States of America....a Republic. Sfc. Ben. U.S.Army ret.

Why aren't we hearing anything about the carjacked victim and his experience and interactions with the brothers?

    April 22, 2013 at 9:07 pm | Report abuse | Reply

Because he is a prime witness who's direct testimony will be needed/used in court. He has been advised not to make statements by advise of council for his own reasons and to keep his testimony fresh when it comes time for it to be called for in court.

We have heard some about the carjacked victim in questioning of various 'police' officials. Today a question came up about something in the carjacked victim's statement about hearing the brothers speak in a foreign language and he thought they made a reference to something about Manhattan but was not sure. So his name and some simple statements do come up in interview of others.

Piers asked about 2009, domestic violence arrest. guest mentioned about older brother going from happy/flashy to more subdued going into 2010. also mentioned he was disappointed because he couldn't represent u.s. in later boxing. sure looks like his road downhill started in 2009 after the dom violence arrest... that's usually called a lifechanger. it's after that when he became radicalized 2010 and subsequent and turning to the religion and violence to express his anger/revenge. doesn't he also fit the profile of a u.s. domestic violence perp who turns to extreme violence after being dealt with by the system? looks like he is a dom violence perp who became a domestic terrorist and took it out on the 'system' and mass of people rather than just one victim. this could also explain why he killed the campus police officer... as he was angry with the 'police' who were involved in arresting him, even if justified. your thoughts?

I have long respected Piers Morgan interviews and was shocked at the apparent accusation that the imam from the mosque that one of the bombers attended was put on the hot seat as though he could do something within his community to better rout out an issue. Shame on you Piers for perpetuating a sterotype prejudice against Islam instead of zealot fanatics.

the Imam knows what's going on in the community as far as people changing, etc. there is another IMAM in the u.s. who actually works for Homeland Security–came to the u.s. from a country in Africa about 20 yrs ago. what else? this other Imam was found guilty of assaulting police officers in a street incident in a northern city about a dozen yrs ago. a federal judge ordered Homeland Security to give the man a job... they had offered the job (under Tom Ridge years) and then withdrew the offer after finding about the two assault charges. again, the federal judge MADE Homeland Security hire that man/Imam. do you think Homeland Security should have been required by a federal judge to hire a man with dual citizenship and had assaulted police officers?

Greg Ball just made himself look like such a coward and a jerk! Intelligent debaters can articulate their points and back up their statements without resorting to belittling and name calling. It appears that he made a knee-jerk comment and wasn't prepared to back it up at all! People who are completely full of themselves are rarely able to hide that!

I think you were not listening correctly! When asked whether he stood by his tweet, he said he did. When asked whether or not he believed that torture should be allowed, he answered very clearly that he himself would allow it and would like to go with a baseball bat with any terrorist and do it himself. Piers calling him a coward for leaving was totally unnecessary, as he had already answered the question! It's just that he did not answer for the rest of the Americans, just by his beliefs. I find it amusing that they use drones over the US soil during this situation, even though they said they would never use them over the United States! I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot, and it was one of our relatives that was injured or dead, we would want any means possible used to get all the Intel we could out of a person!

Bravo Piers for outing the bully on your show tonight.
Thanks you for standing up to the irrational anger that is at the root of so much wrong.
The red blooded state senator from NY is my idea of an ass, who threatened Piers the minute he did not feel listened to with his absurd ranting, when Piers questioned what was behind his red blooded-ness.
Alan Dershowitz reminds us that the law will find its way given a chance.

Mr. Dershowitz put everything into perspective by disagreeing with the senator, however, he only went so far as to leave it alone when it regards American citizens. I would like to know by whose terms the word," Lucid." Is being used? Even if a doctor thought that he was cognizant enough to understand what was going on, his defense attorney will be writing down everything that he is on as far as medication goes. If he lives it will be interesting to know these answers. As I said above, the senator stood by his tweet and spoke for himself and when Piers pushed him to try and get him to say that this is what all Americans want, he was very clear in his response by saying " he" would like to do this stuff himself one-on-one! I am not defending the senator, just clarifying what was said. Please feel free to watch the replay again!

Piers Morgan has really killed his program by constantly interrupting his guests and talking over when his guests are actually trying to say something. It is so hard to concentrate and even get anything substantial from his program. He allows e crazy guests talk but when he has people on like tonight even Michael Moore piers would just interior and not let him talk. I'm tired of hearing him speak. I'm glad that the senator left because Piers kept interrupting him. He let's Ted Nuggetramble and then when he has someone with caliber he could care less. Piers please watch interviews from the past and see how well they respect their guests. The show is not about you, CNn please give is hour to someone with heart, intelligence and respect for his guests. Can't you tell he only cares about tabloid people?

I am proud to live in NY and have a Senator that has the GUTS to say what most people are thinking...too many of our politicians hide behind their political correct jargon. Enhanced interrogation is vital to protecting America and unfortunately it takes horrific tragedies like 9/11 and the Boston Marathon bombing to remind us the evil that penetrates our freedom and way of life. Lets remember the 8 year old boy that was murdered in this bombing. Lest we have "mercy" on this evil murderer of innocent civilians. OH....and by the way Piers....Greg Ball left your show because he was due to appear on Hannity just minutes later...not a coward, just had better things to do

This guy came on the show with a big chip on his shoulder, having clearly decided before he went on that he was going to "stand up to" Piers Morgan. Ball acted like a teenager trying to prove how tough he is by insulting and, in ways, threatening a TV talkshow host. THIS IS A MEMBER OF CONGRESS! If he didn't agree with Morgan, fine. Senator Ball, once a bully, always a bully. I went to school with people like him. It's one thing to be angry, on the opposite side of his host and even passionate about a belief or cause. But there is no reason to be disrespectful and resort to name calling to make a point unless one isn't capable of making a point. This is one of the problems with our legislative politics today. Intellectual and reasoned discourse is a lost ability and we are the ones that have suffered because of it.

Michael, worry more about the bad guys. Sen. Ball was simply reacting to being attacked by terrorists.

Senator Ball is not a bully; he simply did something that most politicians are incapable of...he made a statement that most Americans that have suffered through this tragedy along side the victims of this gruesome, disgusting act of terrorism agreed with and may have also tweeted or texted to a friend shortly after his apprehension. Oh, and by the way, he didnt back away from it, or try to sugar coat it like most politicians. Piers Morgan is renown for "bullying" people on his show that dont agree with him....Greg Ball wasn't a bully, he just simply didnt back down and stood by his words....and like I said in my previous post; "coward"? No, he simply had to leave the show because he was due to appear on Hannity just minutes later. Guess he just had better things to do

Senator Ball isn't fit to be in Congress. His performance on Piers Morgan was dreadful. Like he was trying to prove how tough he is by bullying a television talkshow host. He made several insulting remarks to Morgan and, in one instance, came very close to physically threatening him. THIS IS A MEMBER OF CONGRESS. Piers Morgan doesn't have to be defended. He's a talkshow host. He has a long history of fiery interviews, especially on subjects such as gun control. He invited Ball on his program because of Ball's incredibly stupid Tweet about Tsarnaev. No doubt, Ball will have much more congenial exchange with Sean Hannity, who is the Village Idiot of television broadcasting. A high school graduate who parlayed a right-wing radio show into a slot on FOX. Yeah, he and Ball will get along famously.

Piers is a liberal nut job. He has no clue what the 2nd amendment is about. It is to allow American citizens the right to defend themselves from a government taking away our freedoms. Has nothing to do with guns to defend our homes. That is a given. Government should not let criminals out of prisons to obtain illegal weapons to use on law biding citizens. Go back to England if you want to live in a gun free society!

      'Go back to England...'

It's been largely in absentia tonight, which is good seeing as what is at stake here is the future of the United States
seeing as the law's an ass and has signally failed that school. For the 1,000,000th time,he wants to prevent us
entering an 'utter Wild West Hell',and people like you would send us there on a one-way ticket,Pony Express.

      Go boil your head.

(And he's never said the FIRST THING about banning all guns–you just like playing Wounded Hero.)

Greg Ball's comments are offensive. There is no room for such a person in our political system. He must be removed immediately from the NY State Senate. Shame on those who put him there.
