Just hours after learning that charges of sending letters laced with ricin to the president and other elected politicans had been dropped, on Tuesday evening Paul Kevin Curtis joined Piers Morgan for an emotional and entertaining live interview.
Speaking with the "Piers Morgan Live" host on the phone from Mississippi, the man who makes his living as an Elvis impersonator explained his shock at learning of the charges against him:
"I heard the word 'ricin,' for the first time in my life, by a federal agent - Homeland Security - while being interrogated for four hours at a federal building in Oxford, and I thought he said 'rice,'" Curtis told the host. "I said, I don't even eat rice, usually. I'm not even a rice lover."
Arrested nearly a week ago, Tuesday's guest used a wildlife analogy in crediting his lawyer for his ultimate release:
"In the jungle of law in court, you have monkeys, you have kangaroos, and you have lions. She was the lion queen. She was just amazing."
