"Piers Morgan Live, Rewind": Reese Witherspoon's arrest video, and Dan Rather on Syria

Whether you fell asleep early, stayed out too late, or simply want to watch it again, we realize it's not always possible to get your entire "Piers Morgan Live" fix from television. As an answer to this, we offer the below labor of love – "Piers Morgan Live, Rewind" – dedicated and designed to getting you caught up and connected to the conversation.

  • "Breaking the News": Panel offers insight on Witherspoon arrest video

On Thursday evening, Piers Morgan welcomed Abby Huntsman, Marc Lamont Hill, and Maeve Reston for his "Breaking the News" segment, as the trio of journalists and personalities shared their various insights into the recent arrest – and subsequent media scrutiny – of actress Reese Witherspoon:

"We've seen Reese Witherspoon taking on these kind of darker rolls, this much more complicated roll in 'Mud,' which came out last weekend. So maybe she's really not going for America's sweetheart anymore, and she's kind of broadening out her appeal," suggested Reston, after watching the now infamous police video in which the 37-year-old asks her arresting officer, "do you know my name, sir?"

Huntsman, meanwhile, was sympathetic towards the "Legally Blonde" starlet:

"She has got to be so humiliated. I mean, I know she's wearing darker hair and she might be playing darker roles, but she's America's sweetheart. And I think she always wants to be America's sweetheart. She's got to be absolutely humiliated."

Lamont Hill, Huntsman's "HuffPost Live" colleague, echoed his co-host's point:

"I agree."

  • Dan Rather on Syrian conflict: Time to consider going in

Also as part of Thursday's program, legendary journalist Dan Rather returned to "Piers Morgan Live" on Thursday evening for another in-depth and fascinating interview.

A frequent visitor to the program, the seven-time Peabody Award winner, shared his insight and thoughts on the continuing civil war in Syria and the level of U.S. involvement in the conflict.

"Yes, time to consider it," said Rather on the option where the United States would arm the Syrian rebels. "But Piers, we also have to keep in mind here that it's very easy to get into these situations and once you're into them it's sometimes extremely difficult to get out," warned Rather. "Read Iraq, read Afghanistan."

"I'm on the same side of this young Lady. As said to Brookie this morning, the copper should have asked who she was, seeing as she insisted, then written down the her address. Celebrities deserve some kind of privacy, and should have had a home visit instead of the Ridiculous!"

I'm trying to figure out whether or not you think because she is a celebrity it is that she deserves or warrants special treatment? The way you wrote your response sounded like it was okay to give preferential treatment! Maybe the next time someone who is on their way to commit a massacre with a gun or a bomb will be able to use it, by saying that shortly they will be celebrities, as for sure the media will make them celebrities! Congratulations, you have just added to an already long list of people who think that just because their name or face is famous that they do not have to be bound by the same laws as the rest of us.

HUH!??? You think it's okay? You think that's the job of the police officer? Personally, her $250 fine should've been more like $250,000 to be equivalent to what the common man would get for this stunt. Along with some jail time and community service just to be an example that we WILL NOT tolerate this type of garbage, even from celebrities.
