Cleveland Reporter: "The letters R.I.P. are scrawled on the wall in the basement"
Roughly 24 hours since a remarkable rescue in Cleveland captured the nation's attention, on Tuesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited Kevin Freeman to share his intimate knowledge of a story that's equal parts joyous and saddening.
As three women – Amanda Berry, Georgina "Gina" DeJesus, and Michelle Knight – begin the challenging process of reintegrating into society following nearly a decade in captivity, the man who's covered the story for Cleveland's Fox 8 revealed a detail he'd picked up through his sources:
"The letters R.I.P. – Rest in Peace – are scrawled on the wall in the basement and there's a woman's name which would lead you to believe that another woman was in there at some time," Freeman told Piers Morgan. "They also say that one of the girls told investigators that that woman was with them for a while and then one day, she woke up and the girl was no longer there."
After interviewing Freeman, the host then spoke live with a mother and her daughters. Anita Lugo, Faliceonna Lopez, and Nina Samoylicz all live in the neighborhood where the three Castro brothers are said to have held the women captive and on Tuesday evening Faliceonna revealed details of the day in she believes she saw one of the abducted women:
"We look across the street and it's Ariel [Castro], and he has a woman, she's naked, and she's just in the backyard, and my sister said something or he heard us," the girl explained to Morgan. "He like told her 'get down, get down, get in the house,' and she was naked and he had like a mattress up, and he was like trying to disguise but he didn't know that we could still see over it, and he made her crawl on her hands and knees to get into the back and he took her to the back like of the door and that's the last time we seen her."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interviews, as Freeman adds further insight, explaining an updated aspect of the FBI investigation which indicates authorities are looking for additional evidence of births having occurred while the women were in captivity.

Thank you, Piers, for the excellent coverage. I am in awe about the stupidity of the neighbors and the police. How they could witness theses bizarre situations and not call 911 or the police. It is astounding and shocking that this could happen in this time literally in the back yards of Amercians.

It is excellent coverage, but I would like someone to open a discussion about the inept 911 response. A panicked woman begs for help and the responder says she'll send a car "when one is open". She then ends the call and tells the victim to "talk to the police" instead of her. This 911 responder is the second non-captor Amanda has spoken with in 10 years, and virtually dismisses her rather than reassuring her and staying on the line to ensure her safety when the caller clearly fears for her life. Appalling.
